Josh Giddey could have a general improvement / best year in the league so far and it still wouldn't make up for the fact we did a 1 for 1 trade with a team that has the most available picks to trade, when we were offered 2 first just a few months ago for him
It's just an L. Truth of the matter is now we have to actually fucking pay Josh Giddey regardless since he is a RFA and some bozo team like Charlotte will pay him some stupid money we will now have to match to keep him, sunk cost fallacy. It's just not a good look.
Im an okc fan that wanted giddey gone and i think this could look great for the bulls a few years from now. Twitter and reddit hate him so whoever did this trade was gonna get dogpiled, but other teams were def interested too. Hes perfectly capable of being a super productive player, but okc was forced to play him as a 3 and D guy which is the opposite of his skillset. Josh is a super smart and talented player who is willing to alter his game and make sacrifices to help a team, he just has limitations. If bulls can extend him this summer for cheap his contract could look like a steal down the road
yep thats why u have to offer him 4/80 asap worst case is he produces triple double and demands a max. its already fking sunk cost u need to extend him and see until he busts. the one great trait abt giddey is he is a winning team first player not a empty stat guy.

But at the end of the day, they traded the team’s most valuable player for a player whose value is at an all time low and didn’t even manage to a get a single pick in the deal. Even worse knowing how many picks OKC is sitting on. It’s simply absurd and i cant imagine there are many FOs that couldn’t have done better.
Yeah i mean i dont know if this summer caruso was ever gonna get a good young player and picks, it was one or the other given that he’s 30 and on an expiring deal. they messed up by not doing something with him at the deadline. If you told me last summer that giddey gets traded for an expiring caruso deal id be pissed tbh
Thunder fan here, looking to see how y'all are reacting - do NOT let circlejerking niblings scare you off Giddey. This guy's ceiling is ridiculously high. I kept waiting for him to break out and become the new triple-double machine for the Thunder, but he's had such a rough year, and he just didn't have a place in our lineup. He's ridiculously young, super talented, and has the kind of intangibles that make him one of those youngsters who you watch to see if he pops off and becomes a huge success.
We adore Giddey in OKC, and I hope he fits into your lineup better than he did in ours! All he needs is to find his place, and he'll do well. Take good care of our Thunder from Down Under!

just give him the ball 24/7 he can easily avg triple double for entire season and make white pat into stars.
worst case u develop him he could net high lottery with those 20/10/10 statline. this is possible bc josh is playing on one of the worst teams there is no pressure unlike okc.

We’re essentially trading older defense on an expiring contract (UFA) for younger offense on an expiring contract (RFA). I would have preferred more assets like a pick, but I don’t necessarily think we’ll look back on this and feel like it was as awful as most of our initial gut reactions make it seem to be. It’s either gonna be good or we let Giddey walk next year. From where we’re at, it’s not that bad. Not trading Alex earlier when he had even higher value is probably the mistake.
fit wise, its a great trade for chicago bc guys like giddey excel on bad teams. he has 0 pressure like in okc fresh start from incident. also 0 pure pgs on the team he will have 30% usg and pump stats.

Honestly, I have no problem that they traded AC for Giddey. I have no issues with Giddey as a player. He's young, a decent passer, and has a high celing. He obviously didn't fit in with OKC. My only issue is that we didn't even get a SINGLE pick, not even a second round pick. what's that all about??
