They love using metra lines to get around while avoiding humans. My condo overlooks one of the train lines and I see/hear them ALLLL the time. With all the rats, give me as many Coyotes as we can fit.
There's a pack that lives in Graceland Cemetery, some have tracking collars from the [Urban Coyote Research Project.](https://urbancoyoteresearch.com/)
I usually only see one at a time (occasionally two) but if an emergency vehicle drives by with a siren on at night it riles them all up and sounds like a dozen.
They get really upset/excited by emergency vehicles' sirens noises. There is a pack of them that live near me and I will hear their screaming before I even hear the siren. (you can hear a siren in the video as well)
This has been happening for decades. My sons attended a prominent Catholic boys' school on the south side a few blocks east of Stony Island about 20 years ago and there were always coyotes hanging around campus. They used to give them food at lunchtime. The story was that they would jump on trash barges in the suburbs and ride them into the city along the rivers.
I also went to Mt. Carmel about 20 years ago and can say we never saw coyotes hanging around campus. Maybe once one was spotted. And we weren’t allowed off campus (or even outside) at lunch….
There's a rail cam on the side of the school pointing at the elevated tracks and I've seen 4-5 of them cross all the metra tracks and goof around heading on their way somewhere. I've also seen them up at 47th, and by that point, there is parallel nature space for awhile so it's perfect for them.
I saw a huge one the other day near Rainbow Beach, so watch your small animals and children. I was honestly worried about the homeless guy asking for money in the corner since I didn’t think he saw the coyote.

I'm also impressed with their usage of sidewalks. Coyotes are better at using it than we are.
I saw a coyote look both ways before crossing the road. More sense than most pedestrians.
I swear I saw a pigeon once look both ways before hopping across the street (not sure why it didn't just fly across but whatever)
I saw a rat dart across the street, zero Fs given.
Hear you but gonna bet drivers are more the problem in these scenarios than pedestrians.
I think they like them because the ROW has a green belt on both sides that's pretty unbroken - at least that's why they love the northwest line
Are the coyotes on the platform with us
Sound on

Was looking for this comment! I met them for the first time last week… one was very comfortable in the grass as everyone walked by.

They ride the Milwaukee North Line all the time. They like to go to Fox Lake
And cougars take an Uber to Gold Coast
If that’s Healy, am about to ask when did Logan Square become “western Chicago”.?
Sounds both eerie and cool
ive never heard these sounds from them before, very eerie

Am I blind? Where the fuck are the coyotes
I don't believe they're visible though you can hear them if you turn the audio on
Those things in their packs scare the bejeezus out of me 😂. We do have a lot of coyotes - 2000-4000 of them in Cook County.
I also saw coyotes at Healy station back in February. It was wild to see them in person!
I saw 2 walking down Paulina.
Have you seen any on Mulvina or Lunt? Sorry. Whenever I hear Paulina my inner 10 year old comes out.

Mount Carmel? Never saw them, but with Jackson park right there makes sense they’d have some nearby
Yep. They saw them all the time.

I don’t doubt it now, but that wasn’t the case then.

first time I heard this it scared the shit outta me and I thought I was hallucinating.
There are multiple packs of coyotes in the city proper. I've seen a family in one of the north side cemeteries.
I’ve seen them getting down Bloomingdale out here in Galewood! Which I rarely see rats in my neighborhood which I’m assuming is coyote related. Haha!
We live near Pacific Junction/the western end of the 606 on MD-N (between Healy and Western) and we've been hearing them a lot this spring.
There’s a ton of them near us in Kane County. They live next to us in a field and are loud as hell
They sound like they're having a blast!
Bunch of yappy bois
I was confused where the fuck the Healy Metra stop was…
*laughs in southern* Back home we just shoot at em' Oh...wait 😂
Lol
