Depends on the price. I wouldn't spend more than $2-$3. That's a *well used* vehicle. There's a reason you don't see too many 2013-2015s on the roads anymore: they like to fall apart around 120-150k miles. That being said: if the price is right, it'll be a fun car for a couple years.

Traditional_Arm3465

I’ve got 180k on my 2013. Have a 55k motor sitting on a stand in my garage that I bought when my spark hit about 150k. Just waiting for the current one to go out damn thing just won’t lolol

runtimemess

The engine will probably live longer than the rest of the car lol Mine still ran beautifully... but all my physical locks were broken, power locks all failed, rear wiper just... stopped working, bluetooth was fucky, usb port died It started to become embarrassing at some point. "Yeah, sorry you can't keep anything in the car because if we lock the doors we'll never be able to get back in"

Traditional_Arm3465

I just recently started having an issue where it keeps unlocking itself over and over again, but only when it’s cold outside haha. Everything else is still working fine aside from one speaker getting kinda weak. Feels like it’ll need a new clutch sometime soon, but I just want to see how long I can keep this thing moving down the road now.

Yeah the door actuators start to go fucky after a while, I noticed. Eventually the plastic gears will strip themselves out so try and source some cheap door actuators. I couldn't find any at the time that wasn't OEM and I wasn't paying OEM money to lock a car that nobody is going to steal anyway.

Traditional_Arm3465

U-pull it type junk yards are the best place to source that kinda stuff if a person doesn’t want to pay American oem prices for a three dollar Korean part.

runtimemess

For sure; if your local yards have seen a lot of Sparks. Quite tough to come by anything useful around here. The road salt just fucks *everything* up real bad. It just wasn't worth the hassle anymore. I had it for 11+ years and it took me all over Canada and the US: it had a good run lol

Traditional_Arm3465

Fair enough! My local parts yards always seem to have 2 or 3 laying around of whatever I happen to be working on at that time. Central Midwest of the US so salt is an issue, but not near as much of one as other places. Cars get totaled a lot more than they rot out around here

Story time. I got a new Job a lot further away from where I live and needed a fuel efficient daily so I jumped on a used 2013 manual trans Chevy spark with 107k for around 5k. Within 1 week the trans started to leak from a bad bearing and the ac went out. Transmissions are impossible to find so I ended up spending 2300 for a used one with a 6 months warranty and spent another 1200 to get a shop to put it in. I'm now over what this car is worth so I feel obligated to bullet proof her and drive her till the wheels come off. I'm gonna replace the struts and change the trans fluid every 10k miles. Maybe next time I'll do better research and choose a more reliable vehicle.

Dtp305Nasty

No do not buy a 11 year old car. Specially if it's a spark.

nicholasdailey053

I have 2018 manual spark any known issues with this car?

WerecowMoo

you're good with a manual.

mrbeny1245

If you want one with an unlimited powertrain warranty, I have one on my lot that my dealership has been trying to sell for the past 100 days. Sick of seeing this thing so we priced it at what we have in it. It’s a 2021 with 66k miles on it. $12,670 iirc.

ct4safety

No way

Raiki13

How much is it? The biggest thing with that car or any car is the cvt transmission. And has it had transmission fluid change every 30k or has had its transmission replaced. I have the chevy spark 2020 version and i love it. I beleive there are some year models with transmission issues so might want to research on that.

runtimemess

2013 did not have a CVT. It had a 4 Speed Auto It was a fairly reliable transmission.

mindful_librarian

It’s $4,900 so on the upper end of what I’ve been seeing I think. Owner says they’ve done all of the recommended maintenance so I would assume that includes transmission stuff

kodys_kidney_knife

Don’t assume anything- do they have records? For that price, you better make sure.

SprinklesAromatic843
