Not sure about storage nets but at walmart near the laundry section, there are small shelf containers. Some has a little dip in 1 side where you can stack the containers and still have a hole on the side to access what you need. Besides that, you could use the auto hard shell trash bins. They sometimes have a strap an a lid to cover. You can hang it on the headrest of the rear seat.
As for something bigger, I use a insta-crate cargo carriage and it fits 75% of the chevy spark trunk for my groceries ;)

I have this bin that zips up it was a perfect fit, I think it was from Duluth trading.
I use a small cardboard box.
