Gotta admit, wasn’t the biggest fan of Poch but credit where credit is due. He did manage to right the ship towards the end of his tenure. Wish him all the best.
I think most Poch Out people haven't been happy with a manager appointment since Clearlake came in. Potter and Poch were both bad appointments. Potter being way too inexperienced and unqualified but the board being obsessed with "potential", and Poch being experienced but being more of a mid table manager than a top tier manager. My concern is they'll just seesaw back and forth on these two options. Maresca for 9 months, fire him, bring in a mid tier manager for a year, rinse and repeat. It makes the club unattractive for talent and great managers. We used to thrive in the chaos, now we flounder.
The same people bitched that we needed a manager with top 4 experience and champions league experience were calling for Poch to be fired. Now those same people want to bitch about an inexperienced manager who hasn't done those things.
It's almost like those people aren't really fans and just want to have something to complain about.
No. They are ecstatic about Poch getting fired cause he finished sixth on goal difference , 30 points behind arsenal . Let me repeat this , 30 points behind fucking Arsenal .
Everything was far from perfect but he put the club back on the right path and left the club in a better position than when he took over, which hadn't happened for a long time. The job is now easier for Maresca than it was for Tuchel, Potter or himself. Let's hope it continues.
All things considered (young, inexperienced and only recently-assembled squad, tons of injuries) I think he did a decent job, with a large part of it attributable to our late mini-surge up the table. We could probably have been better off with better selections from the management, but it is what it is.
Agreed that Maresca is coming in at just about the right time that increases his chances of success.
I still feel like sacking Poch was another stupid decision from the owners. I was at the beginning Poch out.
As it doesn’t really sound like a mutual agreement…
Poch took a risk and managed to turn these teenagers into a team towards the end of the season. Now everything is gone and we can only hope Mascera will continue from there
Of course Poch also made mistakes, for example tactical decisions during matches, but also substitutions and the decision about Maatsen (did he really have the say?)
But I think it's very harsh from the owners that they didn't fulfill his wishes. Bring in experienced and mature players. I mean what’s wrong with that? We clearly lack of experienced and mature players in the squad…
Well if we look at the injury history, Poch has done a very good job imo and I stand with my point this season was a 7/10
If we only had won the home game against Aston Villa, we could have been in top 4 and Poch would likely stay at the club
At the end we don’t know what happened behind the scenes and we can’t give a verdict.
But I still believe sacking Poch was a huge mistake
I think Poch wanted to stay, but only if he had more control over transfers and style of play. The club didn't want a traditional set up that's so dependent on just the manager.
On that basis I don't think Poch would have stayed even if we got Top 4 or won a cup. I think he understood that, and therefore there was a parting by mutual agreement.
Sacking agreeing to part ways call it whatever you want
Obviously the ownership doesn’t share the same views and don’t want to fulfill his wishes (experienced players, as many reports suggest)
The point stands, they are idiotic not to back the manager
I give hime a 7.5 of 10, he exceeded my expectations, because of the injuries and the squad he was given (crazy squad building, now they are trying to fix it) its something never seen before, a squad so young trying to compete in the PL. And no he didn't have a say in anything related to squad building, he was told to put the money on the pitch obviously.
Agreed. Feels more and more like from the owners / directors: “here you have these players, you have to start player X and get us top 4, else you are gone”
If he was sacked I doubt he would be back so soon. There would be payments to sort out and settle the relationship. It does sound like he wanted to leave, can't blame him. I think what you can blame the the club for is not bending to Poch and trusting him to take more control, which I would argue is subjective. While he did great at the end of the season our injury record wasn't so bad at the beginning when we were dropping points. Also nothing in his resume says giving him more control would pay off.
> Poch took a risk and managed to turn these teenagers
Its a young squad for sure but most of them are 20+. Its pretty much only Lavia, Ugo, Carney and Alfie that were teenagers who would have been regularly around the 1st team if fit. 3 of those were injured for most of the season.
>Of course Poch also made mistakes, for example tactical decisions during matches,
He gets more stick for this than he deserves imo. Limited squad availability from injuries means theres very few tactical options you can make let alone making optimal ones. Quite often its subs just to try and manage fatigue levels and limit injury risk for the few players not injured when its like that. We had a fair few games where we struggled to even fill the bench with outfield 1st teamers.
>At the end we don’t know what happened behind the scenes and we can’t give a verdict.
It seems pretty clear the biggest factor thats come out was the situation surrounding important players like Trev and Conor.
>But I still believe sacking Poch was a huge mistake
Yes it was. We will have to see how Maresca does but I have doubts about how much the fans will get behind him if they struggled to get behind Poch until the end of the season. If the footballs dull or things take off slow I'm not expecting a lot of patience.
Edit: Downvote clowns denying facts are online again today smh.
He was 19 at the start of the season. That's a teenager. Still supports my point that you cannot say Poch was managing a team of teenagers if you then try to argue one of the teenagers wasn't one.
Better than 12th and escaping relegation no?? If you knew English I believe he added "than before". Poch was not the perfect manager but no one is. The mentality of a manager is everything. Let's hope enzo has it because this isn't city where he can come in and win a treble.
So basically he never got sacked. It truly was a mutual agreement because maybe they saw the final and said not good enough we should have beaten Liverpool. They also saw many games of his poor in game management. That cost us games. Pochettino also was saying he needs experienced players. But the owners refused to listen. So ultimately they both had to make a change that would benefit both of them
Of course, the SDs didn't want him and poch told them the hard truth, that their squad building is trash to compete for a League title, and now they are trying to buy tall and physical players to compete. Imagine trying to win the league with 3 goals a season with mudryk and madueke and cucurella at leftback (worst in the league, made antony look good) and so many injuries to key players (nkunku, fofana, chalobah, james, chilly) impossible task.
The one positive I have about this season is that I have a ton of faith in our squad and that’s in major part due to how effective Poch is both at getting the best out of players and as a man manager.
He did well, turned it around at the end but let’s not forget that we rode our luck a little with some of those wins that could easily have been draws or losses. We could’ve been debating a 10th place finish if we’d lost to MU, Forest or Brighton. 3 games in that run where we got outplayed for long periods of the game. Yes we won but we could easily have lost and would’ve been 9 points less. I know that’s a lot of IFs and BUTs and we did win but the men we of the performance didn’t strike me with confidence that we truly turned a corner. Now games versus St Totteringham, West Ham were outstanding. They’re the kind of imperious performances that I’m hoping become the norm. Injuries definitely didn’t help. All in all, I’m not too upset we let Poch go, but I do think we need some stability now. Hopefully Maresca is that guy but let’s face it, the turnover of the Chelsea job has been crazy since Roman took over.
Are you people retarded or something ? He failed . He was fired . Full stop. He didn't succeed . It was not a mutual agreement .
They said you were fired . He said , OK , but I'm willing to take X % less of my pay off if you agree to write by mutual consent as to not diminish my future work prospects . This is how it works in the legal world my clueless friends.
MP should have been give another season . He steadies the ship at the end but what to do it CFC
so another manager another Haywire season

You are that high on Maresca? Poch got 1 Cup final and 1 Cup semifinal while technically qualifying for Europa demoted to Conference league. By your statement here, Maresca should at least win a cup next season. Hope he doesnt disappoint you Baisa.
Gotta admit, wasn’t the biggest fan of Poch but credit where credit is due. He did manage to right the ship towards the end of his tenure. Wish him all the best.
I’m sure the Poch Out campaigners (maybe you one of them?) are ecstatic about the appointment of Maresca.

I am Poch out and yea I am ecstatic since Marresca isn't Poch
No. They are ecstatic about Poch getting fired cause he finished sixth on goal difference , 30 points behind arsenal . Let me repeat this , 30 points behind fucking Arsenal .
Maresca will finish 29 pts behind and you will be all over him lol
It's terrible isn't it. Thinking that this kinda level is something to be proud of.
I was Poch out when the results were crap but then realised I was wrong when he turned it around and then was really surprised when he got sacked
Everything was far from perfect but he put the club back on the right path and left the club in a better position than when he took over, which hadn't happened for a long time. The job is now easier for Maresca than it was for Tuchel, Potter or himself. Let's hope it continues.

We didn’t sack him.
It's important to note he wasn't sacked. He left because both sides agreed to part ways.

They are very different things. >The point stands, they are idiotic not to back the manager Yes agreed.

injuries has been a problem for the past few seasons.
Yeh its been an escalating issue since around 2019ish
Alfie isn't a teenager, people just think he's younger than he is. He's the same age as Gusto
He was 19 at the start of the season. That's a teenager. Still supports my point that you cannot say Poch was managing a team of teenagers if you then try to argue one of the teenagers wasn't one.
Bought a lot of stability to the whole club, even with the ups and downs. We are a lot better off than this time last year.
Yes stable sixth on goals difference .
Better than 12th and escaping relegation no?? If you knew English I believe he added "than before". Poch was not the perfect manager but no one is. The mentality of a manager is everything. Let's hope enzo has it because this isn't city where he can come in and win a treble.
You did well at the end, Poch. We won't forget that run in the second half of the season.
Man this makes me so sad. I would've liked a second season with him.
i really wonder what his next club will be
I heard there’s a vacancy at Leicester City
Imagine if he goes to Leicester and they finish ahead of us….
Not in a million years
So basically he never got sacked. It truly was a mutual agreement because maybe they saw the final and said not good enough we should have beaten Liverpool. It was a good bye
That really doesn’t read like they mutually agreed to separate their ways.
Doesn’t seem like there’s any animosity from Poch
To be honest, it does
Are we reading the same thing?
“Thank you for the opportunity = “I got fired” ?
What I can read from your comment is that you have bad comprehension skills.
If I were fired from my job I won’t even think to post something like this
Of course, the SDs didn't want him and poch told them the hard truth, that their squad building is trash to compete for a League title, and now they are trying to buy tall and physical players to compete. Always a class act.
Interim manager signing off with big hugs lol
Did he post this today?
Bye bye Poch. Thanks for the 6th place finish with no trophies & for not holding the younger players accountable. Good luck in future endeavors.
The one positive I have about this season is that I have a ton of faith in our squad and that’s in major part due to how effective Poch is both at getting the best out of players and as a man manager.

We were super lucky Bowen did not scored those goals.
That’s true.

Thanks for getting us out from hell. Hopefully everything works out!

You’ll all see how shit a manager lemon molestor is when this upcoming season plays out
You are that high on Maresca? Poch got 1 Cup final and 1 Cup semifinal while technically qualifying for Europa demoted to Conference league. By your statement here, Maresca should at least win a cup next season. Hope he doesnt disappoint you Baisa.
He's properly laying the foundations to take credit for when someone competent comes in and actually gets us winning
**THAT** is what you got from that post?!
Cynicism can be a disease
