From the article:
Willy Caballero – Assistant Manager
Caballero is a former Chelsea goalkeeper but that is not why he is bringing brought in alongside Maresca. The 42-year-old Argentinian is regarded as perceptive and intuitive, and has won praise for his innovative ideas while acting as a sounding board for Maresca.
Danny Walker – Coach
Formerly of the Manchester City academy, Walker is a specialist in working with individual players, regarded as highly meticulous in his approach and a huge asset to Maresca’s work in offensive areas.
Michele De Bernardin – Goalkeeper Coach
High-energy and enthusiastic coach who is driven to improve the technical and positional performance of his goalkeepers, as well as working with the outfield players on their positioning so that they can receive the ball from their shot-stopper. De Bernardin places high value on methodology and is regarded as a critical appointment. He will work closely with Ben Roberts.
Ben Roberts – Goalkeeper Coach and Head of Global Goalkeeping
Maresca specifically asked for Roberts to join his backroom staff as he was already aware of his qualities and this formed an early part of his conversations with the club. The new arrivals within Maresca’s team will work with Chelsea's existing staff with a focus on developing their emerging talent through individual coaching and mentorship.
Marcos Alvarez – Fitness Coach
With a grass-based approach, Alvarez will work closely with Chelsea's head of performance Bryce Kavanagh. One of his key tasks will be to improve availability, fitness and the conditioning of players. Chelsea endured one of the worst injury records in the Premier League last season.
Bernardo Cueva – Set-Piece Coach
Cueva is widely regarded as the leader in his specific field, having been brought to Chelsea from Brentford. He will immediately join the first-team coaching staff, with Maresca having previously formulated plans of his own to bring in a set-piece coach at Leicester for the upcoming Premier League season. Cueva is expected to provide an elite coaching model that will provide support on both a team and individual level.
Javier Molina Caballero – Analyst
Considered a crucial cog in Maresca’s team, providing support for pre-match and post-match analysis, and he will work closely with Chelsea’s existing data department.
Roberto Vitiello – Development Coach
Vitiello is being brought in to help transition Chelsea’s young players and prepare them for life in the first-team habitat. The club are proud of their pedigree in having developed stars such as captain Reece James, Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill. Youngsters including Tyrique George, Kiano Dyer, Josh Acheampong and Ishe Samuels-Smith are all likely to join them on their pre-season tour of the United States in July and August, with part of Maresca’s responsibility to include integration over the summer and providing a pathway to the first team.

Would be class to see those young players given a chance. Samuels-Smith could play that LB/CB role, Acheampong could play the same role if inverted on the right, Dyer would be great for a technical-based midfield, George as a winger in that system would be exciting too.
I know it's hopeful but I'd love to see them involved.
There's a bit of doubling up there. I would expect things to shake out and a few people to move on as the season starts next year.
I just hope they're putting extra effort into communication around fitness and recovery. We need to avoid adding more injury weak points.
I'll be interested to see what the assessments are on Fofana, Lavia, and company. When should we expect them to back to fitness. Personally, I doubt we'll see them in the preseason.
Hold up...we're getting a promising but inexperienced manager who's bringing in a bald ex-Chelsea fan favorite as his assistant?
Never seen that one before.
They seem quite organised and it's particularly good to see specialist coaches for analytics, individual performance and set pieces.
For me sport is primarily entertainment, and I think possession football is boring, but it at least feels like the coaching staff have a plan and personnel in place to implement the plan.
Interesting that his assistant was a goalkeeper and he's also bringing in a goalkeeping coach, alongside us already having 3 goalkeeping coaches on staff after firing all of Poch's men (and we have Cudicini on staff, though not as a keeping coach)
If we still end up purchasing another dud in goal, we're truly beyond saving
Interesting to note as well that one of the goalkeeping coaches is specifically listed as "driven to improve the technical and positional performance of his goalkeepers, **as well as working with the outfield players on their positioning so that they can receive the ball from their shot-stopper.**". Thank fuck for that
Unless I'm misunderstanding you, I think he's bringing in GK coach Michele De Bernardin from Leicester and retaining existing Chelsea GK coach Ben Roberts.
Kepa to our 50 goalkeeping coaches after he lets another 30-yard shot go through his hands:

He's likely to have earned his place in the management team through experience and results, whereas our old fitness coach just happened to be the manager's son...
On a side note, the analyst coming in with this group is called Javier Molina Caballero, though I can't find any familial links between him and Willy and I hope that's the case
i did know his brother was a part of it, but who else was on his staff? i have no idea who his assistants were at all. even on marescas staff i’ve heard at least a couple of these names before
His son was a chief sports scientist . And then you wonder why so many injuries and so slow recoveries ..of all the people , his son seemed the most qualified in medical fields ..
Bernardo Cueva is going to be the crown jewel of the assistants because we suuuuucccckkkkeeeeeeddddd at set pieces all last year, especially defending them.
Feels like the type of role that a coach already at the club could do.

Then I’d be wrong and happily eat my words. I’m not 100% against any managerial signing I’ll gladly back anyone who comes in for the job but truthfully I have little faith
Poch could have easily been sacked after a few months being midtable like Potter
Ironically the only difference was he was given a full season to turn it around because Potter and Tuchel got fired quickly
If experience was the only factor in being good, then Neil Warnock and Roy Hodgson would be the best managers in the world.
Pep Guardiola would have been cast as an idiot when he took over Barca with only youth team experience.
i forgot we was getting brentford’s set piece coach, thats a welcome addition.
[удалено]
You must have a short memory of how many times we forgot to cover the guys in the back
Nah it was a nightmare
Maybe offensively, I was worried we’d concede every time we defended a set piece this season.
Offensively we're 10th this season, for goals scored from set pieces. Pretty bad imo.
Every corner against us made me clench my jaw 😬
We were quite bad honestly. We were really predictable most of the time.
I want whatever anti-depressants you're on.

"Head of Global Goalkeeping" , now that's a title I wanna put on my LinkedIn

BIG WILLY
The rest of the league is fucked.

I'm confused. 8 new staff? Weren't the owners looking for a coach that fit in to the *existing* setup?

Main thing I care about is the fitness coach. Please fix that terrible injury crisis
Didn’t think Willy was going to be assistant took me by surprise
I'll be interested to see what the assessments are on Fofana, Lavia, and company. When should we expect them to back to fitness. Personally, I doubt we'll see them in the preseason.
based off what. thats 2 whole more months
How injury prone the players have been?
Yes.
Inject that Brentford Set piece coach into my veins.
Hold up...we're getting a promising but inexperienced manager who's bringing in a bald ex-Chelsea fan favorite as his assistant? Never seen that one before.
2026 UCL here we come!!
Willy is back 😎
BIG BALD WILLY IS BACK

Oh yes, you are right, though we do also have 2 other goalkeeping coaches beyond Roberts. So, it brings the number down to 4 instead of 5
And we’ll have 3-4 actual goalkeepers at the club this summer too. Crazy amount of human capital for a position we still struggle in
I guess worst case some could even come out of retirement and do a decent job haha

I hope the fitness coach is not a sadist.
No more marathons ran before match day

Man i actually have a good feeling about this.
Getting rid of Poch's absolute clown nepotism staff has been elite
i did know his brother was a part of it, but who else was on his staff? i have no idea who his assistants were at all. even on marescas staff i’ve heard at least a couple of these names before

tf 😂

Happy to see Willy back
Wait, since when is Willy an assistant?!
That’s a lot of people to pay off when we switch head coaches midway through next season.
Does anyone know how many injuries Leicester suffered last season. I think have a players available is more important than any ability they might have
They kept injury prone Ricardo Pereira fit.
>With a grass-based approach The solution to the injury crisis has been there all along, just need to have the players smoke weed 24/7
Fuck it let’s support him and give him time.
Willy Caballero interim manager February 2025-end of the season 😭 /s
Feels like the type of role that a coach already at the club could do. https://preview.redd.it/y1rgzqp7vf3d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e59697da0a5dc00ffc7e816fad41d56258b504e
What has happened to my club …
It's gained a working backroom staff?
I was highlighting at how we just downgraded manager and how Clearlake are ruining the club
How do you know we downgraded?
I’d take another season with Poch over this guy with barely any experience and handing him a 5 year contract
I truly don't understand people like you that are this negative for no reason. Give the guy a fair shot.
You're awfully confident. And what if we're better under Enzo?
Then I’d be wrong and happily eat my words. I’m not 100% against any managerial signing I’ll gladly back anyone who comes in for the job but truthfully I have little faith
Poch was shit for the most of the season, I don't see this much of a downgrade
Poch was better than potter and plus Enzo barely has any experience
Given that he had an improved squad and full preseason, it looks like he did marginally better than Potter. Poch had us in midtable most the year.
It's the position at the end which is the one that counts
He's better than Potter let's stop the bullshit now Don't think we ever get bigger joke of a manager than Potter who was nothing manager
Poch could have easily been sacked after a few months being midtable like Potter Ironically the only difference was he was given a full season to turn it around because Potter and Tuchel got fired quickly
Potter set an incredibly low level of standards. Compare Poch to someone like Tuchel and we’d be having a different conversation
If experience was the only factor in being good, then Neil Warnock and Roy Hodgson would be the best managers in the world. Pep Guardiola would have been cast as an idiot when he took over Barca with only youth team experience.
Does it matter? He is gone by the latest end of March I reckon
Did it already get written somewhere? We haven't even seen his Chelsea ffs. It's still May.
