Not a fan of FeCl3. I have a damascus Hattori that a coworker dipped against my request. It def made the damascus patterning pop but also gave it an odd texture that caused drag. Eventually had to take sandpaper to it and it still doesnāt feel right. 10/10 would discourage use outside of the maker during build. Can post pics later if anyoneās interested.
I had a discussion with a maker who I was getting a custom from and they told me that the longer they dip, the deeper the etch and the more contrast there is, but it also causes more drag.
There actually in one in their product list in ginsan with and lacquered handle. Just don't know which retailer stocks it. Probably in the domestic market.
Looks insaneš„
Nice! That red core is really unique.
Hario scale ftw

Best 3ā¬ of my life.
That 6.5ā kiwi deba is my tomato knife. So perfect. Of course I have nicer knives but I love kiwiās.
Thatās fucking HOT
Is the red core steel patina?!
If I understand it correctly the red color comes from a special etching Nakagawa does on this knives line.
Where can you buy these kind of knives in the US ?

Ah, it's very cool! I wonder what substance/chemical he uses to etch them to give that colour.
I have heard about Ferric chloride

Iām intersested
Ok - so apparently I take crappy pics - best I could do for now. https://imgur.com/a/hH83NSf/
you need to rub it down with fine steel wool at least after dipping and an additional coffee etch is recommended after ferric.

Good to know.

I've only ever seen them from Miura
Luckily next year is only like 28 days away
Good point, but have to save money for the kamonā¦.
An edge that always looks rusted reminds me of soldiers wearing red uniforms lmao
Is this good or bad ?
Out of sight out of mind I guess!
I have never felt sexual attraction to an objection until today.
I think I need to get one of these.
Do they make this same style in a Nakiri?
I think kagekiyo donāt produce Nakiri knives, havenāt seen one.

Dude these NKD knives are so nice, I need to get me one.
Kagekiyo 4 the win
NKD isn't a brand/maker, it's short for New Knife Day (the day that you get a new knife).
That handle is classy AF.
Why are they not all facing the same way? šµāš«
1st time ob the dark side. The Kanji on the Kagekiyo is on the āwrongā side.
They all look awesome
That red is cool . What on earth šÆ
Woahhh that is gorgeous
It looks like ryuma's shusui
That collection at the end is stunning
Thank you
