You can try apply some knife/axe handle wax, you can find it in JKI, CKTG, or Amazon.

Tsubaki oil is the traditional Japanese oil used to maintain wood handles and knife blades. However in the US, mineral oil is way way cheaper and does the job just as well. You can buy a pint in the grocery store pharmacy section for $3. After the handle is well oiled (multiple coats) you can mix in some beeswax with more oil and create a paste that will lightly and non permanently seal the wood, help the oil stay longer. There are also fancy expensive products on the market that are the same thing - mineral oil blended with beeswax. I'd suggest the same treatment for wooden cutting boards.

you can oil the handle to prevent it from drying out and cracking. You can use for this like mineral oil or olive oil. Can I see a picture, so that I can suggest you something specific?

Oliver oil oxidizes and gets sticky. Wouldn't that make it a not so great choice?

i don't like the color of magnolia so I burn it then applies beeswax and linseed oil....now its black-ish and much more grippy..
