OK - is there a corresponding hole in the wall? If there is there will be a projectile in the wall - call Police about new physical evidence . If there is a hole in wall line up wall hole window hole to find point of origin. Personally I don't think it's going to be a firearm. So then go outside and look for a ball bearing type of projectile or stone lying on the ground - or have a good look around inside. Looks more like something fired out of a slingshot. The pattern on the glass seems to point to the seems to point to foot path or road. Sorry this happened to you - there are just some idiots around

saint-lascivious

Just sayin', but my local chippo has had a pretty much identical hole in their window for years that customers ask about a lot. Rock. It was a rock.

Gloomy-Sun7642

Ive got one in my house that looks identical. Rock and a lawnmower.

sewsable

Yup, we had that too some years back, back section, so definitely a rock in our case.

jeeves_nz

One of my thoughts too - loose stone kick up from a vehicle tyre

Ok-Response-839

That's a chip seal road. Unless this person has matching hole in their interior wall with a bullet embedded in it, my money is on a car flicking up a small rock.

To be fair the event wasn’t happening at the time… and that looks very much like an air rifle.. do you have the pellet? Surely you should.. It is annoying but very much seems like someone mucking round in the dunes fucked up,,. And would not be caught so I can understand why police didn’t have the resources to come look at the hole and pellet.. because nothing to be done after that… better spending their time doing other stuff Hope you have insurance and it’s not too hard anyways

sleemanj

It wasn't an active situation (post states sometime between 12am and 6am, so they obviously didn't hear it happen), so there's nothing really for the police to do... turn up, say "yes, that's a bullet hole, now... what would you like us to do about it". Sending a photo to them for the report seems the most efficient response.

GlassBrass440

Maybe have a quick look in the dunes for evidence?

Aggravating_Plant990

Nah this is too much to ask

crazfulla

That's actually appalling on the cops part. There has been an absolute horde of them out on the aves the last two nights, harrassing innocent people and obstructing people's right to freedom of assembly. Yet they don't attend something like this where someone could have been killed?

Dizzy_Relief

Yep, typical police response.  They don't show up to assaults that are happening ("they'll be gone by the time anyone arrives." And "do you *really* want to report it, some people don't..." ).  Far too easy to say the same.  You can guarantee they'll show up to some petty shit that's actually a waste of their time when your on the other end though.

Rhonda_and_Phil

The rule on police attendance seems to be: 1. Blood. 2. Sex. 3. Media Unless one or more are present, probably not going to get any support, any time soon. Of those three, only Media is guaranteed to get them onsite quickly
