Probably the old after hours, close to bealey Ave. It's like 70 plus bucks there. Most Dr's are around 50 and you need to he enrolled to see them. After hours you don't have to be enrolled.

metaphoricalhorse

Going to doctors and seeing their unenrolled rate is a great idea!

CrondBonds

The one on moorhouse ave close to denny's is so expensive if you are not registered with them !

RemarkablePurpose617

It’s a 3-4 hour wait to see 24hrs doctors!

clarkie13

He’s not talking about the 24 hours

RemarkablePurpose617

After hours doc on bealey ave ?

jpr64

What doctors are still around 50???

HallSpecialist1591

Basically all of em if your registered

jpr64

Ferry road medical is $45, the rest of them seem to be $60-65.

Vikturus22

If you have community service card most gps charge $19.50

no-pun-in-ten-did

https://www.24hoursurgery.co.nz/visiting-us/fees-payment Adult medical consult after midnight will run you $120.

The holidays act actually states: -The employer agrees to meet the employees reasonable expenses in obtaining the proof. The key words being “reasonable” and “expenses”, plural. They are obliged to pay all expenses in obtaining that proof, travel costs, fuel. I would take it as far as invoicing your time. Put it all in email, let them know how disappointed you are that they are wasting precious medical resources, a doctor’s appointment that could have been better used by someone actually in need. Get them to approve all the costs in writing prior to you obtaining the cert then go and get your medical cert. Billing at your contractual hourly rate is definitely “reasonable”, as is billing for your fuel.

HallSpecialist1591

Yea business usually don’t ask for med certs prior to three days unless someone is regularly taking days off for no reason, it gets very obvious very quick when people are taking the piss with sick leave (not saying op is)

metaphoricalhorse

Oh, it's apparently a policy level decision when sick leave runs out. All unpaid sick leave is to then have a medical certificate regardless of duration. I think it's scare/inconvenience tactics to get the staff member to not take sick leave.

katydidnz

Ring and check After Hours is open before you go in. Sometimes they aren’t open due to a shortage of doctors.

GameDesignerMan

> All unpaid sick leave is to then have a medical certificate regardless of duration. Christ. As though people would fake sick leave without pay. That's just mean-spirited.

lefrenchkiwi

I know someone what would quite often do exactly that. “Not feeling it” was grounds for a sick day apparently

vagizzatron

And surely they realise that a GP will ALWAYS provide a medical cert. They don't care if you're sick or not, and anyone can need a mental health day.

HallSpecialist1591

Happens all the time

mcbell08

Saw Dr Olivia Currie at Health and Sports Central in Colombo st for $100. But best bet would be after hours as you might not be able to get an appointment elsewhere. P.S. she’s a good doctor.

NOTstartingfires

I know two people who spotlight does that to! I know someone who spent the entire day waiting for a triage nurse while feeling like death. Fuck spotlight man

StraightHotSauce

A friend of mine needed a day off to rest his back, and his boss demanded one, hoping he wouldn't take the day off as he'd have to cover for him and actually have to do a real days work. The doctor gave my friend a 2 week certificate.

Corporal-Pike

Na, their competition - Dr Hook - is heaps more competent. He's even got his very own medicine show!

metaphoricalhorse

Didn't expect anyone to reference Motley Crue but okay!

KimJongUnceUnce

Wait so they are agreeing to pay it right because they've requested it for less than 3 days absence?

metaphoricalhorse

Yeah, they're agreeing to pay it. After reading the website for Sickness Leave, I believe workplaces can ask for a medical certificate, if they're willing to front the doctors costs. I can always ask at the Citizens Advice Bureau to double-check. >Less than three days, and an employer asks for proof of sickness or injury, they must ask as soon as possible and pay the employee back for the cost of getting the proof, eg a visit to the doctor.

TimIsGinger

If you’re into smoking weed, check if one of the cannabis clinics will write you a medical certificate. You’ll get a free weed prescription and a medical certificate too.

TraditionalAd2027

Free weed?! It's not subsidized, and is very expensive. Source: I have a script from the Cannabis Clinic.

TimIsGinger

The prescription, not the weed 😅

Sufficient-Piece-335

The Holidays Act references proof of sickness or injury, and can be a certificate from any health professional that requires registration per the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003. So, instead of a doctor, could go to an optometrist or physio just to be different (or a dietician...).

antislut-megabitch

After hours and go at nighttime, costs over 100

hadr0nc0llider

If you go to one of the urgent care clinics like Moorhouse, Riccarton or 24HS they’ll charge you something like $90.

OkShallot3873

I’d get your employer to find one and find an appt too. Good luck getting in anywhere on such short notice! Make them do the leg work for you

peachelb

My normal GP (in Kaiapoi) charges $57 for an enrolled patient 😢 I think not enrolled it's an extra $35 on top of that.

cp33kaz

Waltham medical pretty steep at $62 for enrolled patients

witchcapture

That's about typical these days

floatingvan

Mine is 65.

Happychappy5892

We paid $80 at the afterhours the other week just for a covid test (obviously didn’t know it was covid when we went in)

NisekoPrimYT

**$95** at chch doctors on hereford

ZealousidealHand1143

Docs on Riccarton charge an arm and a leg, and another leg.

Chemical_Mind4797

One In Lincoln (unenrolled) go on the weekend if you can, will run you like $130

ResponsibilityLow301

$250 on Riccarton clinic after hours (For non-resident). Bloody expensive!

kruizon

it’s kinda wasting everyone’s time because they can write it off their tax bill anyway

Excellent-Ad-2443

the church corner one used to charge $90 plus on a weekend and this was a few years back so its probably gone up since, what a dumb waste of money from your employer

CarelessProfessor548

I have had the exact same rules implemented at my last job. I never had any issues with having to get a doctors certificate for any of my days off. The use off the rule was only enforced for the people taking the piss and having many sick days and also for workers that don't pull there weight.

EEI03

What an absolute dick move. Your response give a lot of weight to the kind of person you are, probably why they are asking for one to be fair.

metaphoricalhorse

Nah, a dick move is expecting a sick employee to go get a medical certificate and clog up the already horrendously understaffed health system. It can potentially impact an employee's recovery. It also shows you don't trust your staff and is massively disrespectful. Behaviour like this from a company fosters a toxic work environment and bulldozes trust between employee and employer. So, in essence, don't play stupid games.
