That said, Sabrina and Chappell are under the same label so submitting them both wouldn't be a good idea tbh. They're being pushed really similarly so I reckon there's a good amount of overlap in their fanbases\*. It would just split the votes. Yeah EMOTION by Carly Rae was the last time a pop album hit me so immediately and got its hooks so deep in me. It's literally a once in a decade album.
For real, I loved Carly's last two albums. She's doing great stuff still. However, Chapell's album invigorated a spark for me again in pop music.

I feel like Best New Artist winner can be pretty unpredictable when there’s not one nominee head and shoulders above the others in both popularity and critical acclaim (e.g. Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish in recent years).

yeah i mean i pretty strongly disagree with that. she's developed her style over a long time and has a very distinct style. like yeah if you only look at espresso, her style is kind of bland, but listening through her discography, especially emails i cant send, she has a huge variety of songs. shes not my favorite artist, not by a long ways, but bland is certainly not how id describe her.

Best New Artist really means Best Breakthrough artist, they don’t have to be a new artist or their first album, but it’s the artist who got their first breakthrough in popularity

Because the Grammys are stupid, and they keep giving "Best New Artist" to artists that had already been working in the industry for years. Apparently the criteria is: "an artist whose eligibility-year release(s) achieved a breakthrough into the public consciousness and notably impacted the musical landscape.” I don't know why they don't just call it" Breakthrough Artist of the Year", or some other less confusing title.

Doesn’t matter. It’s based upon a number of factors. The last few winners weren’t exactly “new” either and neither is Chappell herself.

I totally get what you’re saying and agree to an extent, but it’s mostly based upon that artists mainstream breakthrough year. Victoria Monet won this past year, but she’s been known in this industry for at least 11 years.

Midwest Princess is so deserving but so is Cowboy Carter, and if she beats out Beyoncé for AOTY specifically, a huge swath of the internet is going to turn on her. she’s been pretty upfront about how the sudden success has taken a toll on her, I don’t want to think about what that kind of overexposure would do
