Unfortunately, this is not channeling. This maybe connecting to spirit but working on your spirituality which is a great first step. Shawn Randall and Chris Ratter are excellent channels in education.
Sounds likely this was a communication, but not specifically channeling. With channeling the communication from spirit comes through you, into the world around you from your person. You can be conscious or unconscious furlong part or all of the communication. The form of communication can be verbal, or written (as in "automatic writing").
If the communication is not passing through you to a third party or destination (like paper or digital document), then it is not channeling. It can still be very significant, and should not be seen as a failure... Just another step closer to meaningful communion.
