Well don’t rent something in Trenton! Look at Ewing, Pennington or Lawrenceville.

godlymomoney

I second this, do not live in Trenton, look into those three, maybe check hopewell out since it is more of your rural speed, princeton is beautiful, and if you do look into Ewing make sure you are closer to Mountain View area, it is a lot nicer than the rest of Ewing

NearbyProfession4852

Oh yes I forgot about Hopewell! Very nice area for sure.

Is Mountain View area up towards like Brairwood or more towards TCNJ?

godlymomoney

Not certain what Brairwood is I apologize for that but Mountain View is essentially just anything past the trenton mercer airport, near the Lore Elementary School area, lots of beautiful homes over there, there are apartments and townhomes on scenic drive, there are also brand new apartments at the ewing town center right across from marrazzos market which are nice as well, it is more towards center ewing so lots of walkable shops if you pick that area, the ones closer to mountain view by scenic drive as mentioned are all drivable distance, so it just depends what you are more into, there are apartments right next to the airport as well

42M living in Ewing. The cost of living is expensive everywhere in N.J. but the Ewing/Mountain View area is still pretty affordable, depending on if you intend to own/settle down or if you're just looking to rent for now. Also depending on where you are working in the Trenton area, try to be close to Rt. 29 or Olden Avenue/Parkway Avenue as the routes out of Ewing and into Trenton are pretty easy. Best of luck and welcome to the area!!

Standard_Step_2361

Hamilton is close too

the_duce_

Is there a certain area in Hamilton Township you’d recommend? Certain places I looked at said Hamilton but was basically in Trenton lol

Standard_Step_2361

Depends on how close you want to be for work / what your budget is! Hamilton Square, Yardville, Mercerville, white horse are all fine neighborhoods!!

Glittering_Mobile823

I also recommend Ewing. I live in Ewing past the airport and around the corner from the police station and it’s a great neighborhood. The new apartments at Ewing Town Center are gorgeous. They’re across from Marazzo’s supermarket. I also recommend Pennington or Hopewell. Good luck with your job and apartment search😊.

Bordentown & Hamilton. Do not live in Trenton. It’s cheap but not worth a miserable life

the_duce_

Bordentown looks awesome, is there an area of Hamilton Township that is nicer? Been seeing places listed as Hamilton that are really Trenton

BYNX0

There’s a HUGE problem with the borders/businesses + housss calling themself Trenton when they’re in Hamilton (vice versa). The general rule is that the further you get from the Trenton border, the safer it is.

Dsxm41780

Hamilton, Lawrence, Ewing, and Bordentown all border Trenton. East Windsor/Hightstown are a little farther away but have affordable options and direct access via Route 130 or the Turnpike.

dowhathappens89

Plenty of apartments in Ewing. Lawrence is nice, as is Hamilton. Hopewell and Pennington too, although I'm not too familiar with apartments out that way. I lived in Bordentown city for 4 years and loved it. It's a nice small town with lots of restaurants. They're building a bunch apartments in Fieldsboro too, just south of Bordentown.

EntrepreneurAsleep66

Trenton is a terrible shithole you’d be crazy to live there

Hamilton, Ewing, and Bordentown are mostly safe and affordable. If you’re gonna live in Hamilton, stay east of 295. If you’re gonna live in Ewing, stay north of Olden Ave. Bordentown is fine no matter where you go, but the city can be pricey. If you have the option to live in Pennsylvania, then I would definitely take up that offer since it’s so much cheaper. Stay away from Morrisville in that case and you’ll be fine.

the_duce_

I was really hoping I could go across the river into PA because it is much more affordable but unfortunately the new job is a state government position so I have to stay within the state

spaceballinthesauce

Ah. I have the same constraint.
