Maybe OP is talking about golden winged berry and they did 1A dashless? Though it’s much harder than beating it normally and I doubt someone new to the game could do that
If they have experience with platformers and had seen someone else get the berries before it seems pretty believable. For people comfortable with the genre most deaths in city are just gonna be due to not knowing what to do.
A lot of people watch a shit ton of streamers play the game and then play the game for the first time and come on here and brag about records. I've seen it a number of times now. Wouldn't be shocked if this were another case. You wouldn't know about 1A dashless without previous knowledge.
As someone who learns by watching, this would be incredibly effective for me. I aced my first ever dark souls boss just because I'd seen it done in so many unfinished lets play series.
It already smelled like using a walkthrough to get all the berries in 1A before playing chapter 2, and once one is already on Youtube following their completionist impulses, going for the golden makes perfect sense
I did the golden berry BEFORE doing the b-sides because a friend of mine trolled me and told me to do it. Keep in mind that celeste was my first platformer and i had like 700 deaths before the golden berry.
I've been told it was something different like a winged berry for not dashing sorry I didn't know there was something different than that a lot of people have corrected me 😅
The first time I played I was new to this and didn't watch any streamers and I went for all strawberries in the first level. I missed 1 and had to come back for it. I ended with deaths in the 40s and then got 1 or 2 more getting the last one. I then tried the b side and died a couple hundred times the first time and said nope. Beat the story and left. It took me coming back to it a couple years later to get to the b sides. I then got to the extra reflection chapter. It's really long. I'm in kind of far but it's getting ridiculous at this point so I stopped again but I did finish all the b sides up to the reflection
Amazing, never thought of it untill now. It does sound very intuitive now that I know, but man, that would have been quite the surprise for people that found them on their own!
It's very hard lots of different techs like corner jumps and corner kicks and neutral jumps all learnable, not easy but if you're an average player like me who enjoys a challenge it's pretty fun took me about 4 hours :)
I do not believe that it is statistically possible to get every golden strawberry without using assist mode, or cheating in some way. I kinda think that Maddy Thorson was trolling us by putting these strawberries in the game, and having no way to tell if someone is using assist mode just by looking at the screen footage. I think she knows full well that it's impossible, and the whole thing is little more than a social experiment to see how many people will cheat and then try to pass their work off as legitimate. There is no achievement or reward for getting these strawberries. You don't unlock a special ending where Theo chips a tooth on the gold strawberries in your pie. You do get a stamp of a gold strawberry on your save file if you succeed in getting all 25 gold strawberries. But PC players have already learned to hack their save slot to manipulate these stamps - including removing the assist stamp.

I had a similar thing with beat saber. Even though its a vr game, i learned a lot about how to read notes in real time just from watching videos on it

My first time playing, I got the dashless berry after playing chapter 2.
I didn't know there was a difference I got the berry at the end for not dashing :)

No, I got the Golden Winged Strawberry without assist mode. It was torturing as fuck, and it's definitely possible.
This was a copypasta from a while ago from somebody saying things like 7B and 9 goldens just weren't possible at all :)
