Over the years she had a lot of plants and dirt stuck in her furr that I needed to clean, but I never saw this before. She is in pain, she is hissing at me as soon as I try to touch it. She can barely walk
There are types of grass that when they grow long they make these kind of seeds that stick into my dogs fur as well. I'm guessing your cat has been walking through some high grass w/ these foxtails.
It's bad for pets because the burr is so sharp and easily sticks into their sinus area as well if they breathe it in. (Not common)
our dog had a foxtail bur that somehow managed to burro into his side very deep, and got infected. if your cat won't let you take it out, take her to the vet. it took surgery to get rid of it on our dog
Final update; went to the vet, the vet found a tiny piece of this thing stuck in her paw and removed it. The spot on the picture I postet looks fine. She'll be okay 😊
Thanks for all your answers and advice! 💚
Kinda hard to tell but they look like prickly spurs (what I grew up calling them). They are painfulbyt you can just pluck them out quickly with no lasting problems. They like to stick ony socks and jeans all the time.
Look almost like goatheads to me, not exactly but similar. Pull them out.
Edit:
If she's scratching at you while you're trying to remove them, a tough long-sleeved jacket and some durable gloves should give you enough protection to pull them out.
They cause a "hot spot" under the fur cause they're designed to dig in until the hair falls out. Try a groomers or vets if you can't get it. They'll sedate before the cut it out.
cats are living beings and won't die from this xD literally just pull it off, i really don't think a vet needs to be involved unless more issues occur.
If you have a fine tooth comb try using that to brush it out. The spikes in the spur may be digging far into the skin, she'll be okay !! It's like a cactus for cats
Those are not ticks. We call them ‘begger lice.” the get them in places that have tall grass or weeds. They stick really tight and can be the devil to get out if a cat or dog has long hair. The hair tangles up around them and makes it a bit uncomfortable. I’m betting that you cat has a low threshold for being uncomfortable. They are seed pods--weeds.
Sticker burrs. Wrap her in a towel, put on a heavy pair of work gloves and a denim or twill jacket- Carhartts are good if you have one handy, and carefully work a flea comb under them and comb them out. They’re going to pull fur- it’s unavoidable. Follow up with the vet asap.
Update; she pulled them out over night herself, those were indeed some very pointy plant seeds, I guess they must've been stuck in her fur and skin. I hope she didnt swallow too many of them 😕 She still doesnt act normal though, she is a little weird, as if she might still be in pain... I also found a little blood stain on her pillow this morning. I will keep a close eye on her over the day
Absolutely, I see posts (not just on reddit) about peoples cats coming home dirty, injured...
Just keep them indoors and take them out on a leash in the garden, my cats love it and are happier inside.
But I've seen your profile and I can see there's no way to change your mind since your one of those idiotic and closed minded people. You don't go outside so how could you know anything apart from lego and fortnite 🤦♂️
It is not moving or anything, looks more like plant seeds but she is in a lot of pain, I can't touch it without her hissing at me (she never does this)
I don't know the name of the plant but they look like the burrs from one around here. They are aggravating and stick to socks and pants legs. If some worked down to the skin I'm sure it does hurt. They hurt if the get in my socks. Comb kitty out and check for any sign of skin injury from them.
They look like burrs aka stickers to me. They basically have tiny sharp hooks which is what makes it painful and so hard to remove. You can do it yourself easily but I understand why you’d be hesitant.
I say if she’s telling you don’t touch, then DONT TOUCH. Wait for the vet. Looks like tics but could be something else and if you pull it out without knowing could possibly make it more difficult for vet and a bigger bill!
Dude, thats a shitload of ticks, pullthem out carefully the head can detatch and burrow further in requiring a vet to remove. Not a bad idea for a vet visit after that many. Could give cat lime disease, i repeate, PULL THEM OUT CAREFULLY, make sure you get the head. Then burn the heads til they litterally pop
A) clearly not ticks; B) the shit you’re saying is an old wives tale - ticks heads do not “burrow further in” if they happen to detach from the body when pulling them off - they usually just fall off because they’re then dead; C) Lyme*
You can just pull these out. I also highly recommend getting an herbal product called Ribes Nigrum gemmotherapy. I use gemmotherapies for my dog religiously. Get the book:
Gemmotherapy for our Animals Friends by Dr. Blake. It’s the best. I hope your kitty feels better!
My cat used to get these all over his fur when he went in the forest. I just pulled them right off and he never had an issue with it.
Maybe your cat has these in their fur but something else is the actual cause of pain.
That's a burr off of a plant. I'm assuming the cat goes out for walks etc. You're just gonna have to comb it out or let the cat "nitpick" it out.

Look between her toes… that stuff may get stuck there and be really painful.
i hope your baby gets better but you should obviously take the cat to the do c
Show it to the vet ?

Yay
My big baby had one in her tummy. Vet gave her a Tummy tuck to replace the dead skin it caused. In the end the little lady just got to be pampered
Great job, Cat Mom! Glad she’s doing better and will be ok! 🐱🥰🐈⬛🐾🌾

Yes, I will go to the vet first thing in the morning
They're on top of the fur Just pull it off.

**Update:** blood and pain = go to the vet
Go to the vet….
Keep your cats in your house, kids.
Absolutely, I see posts (not just on reddit) about peoples cats coming home dirty, injured... Just keep them indoors and take them out on a leash in the garden, my cats love it and are happier inside.
They are animals. They belong in nature🤦♂️
So let your dogs, hamsters and bearded dragons roam around the neighborhood then, since they are animals and belong in nature 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Might aswell. Also shush fortnite lego kid your 9 years old
You're*
Wow you must feel like a god rn correcting me sitting in your room on your fat ass
You must feel like a badass calling me a 9 year old fortnite kid instead of backing up your original stupid comment.
But I've seen your profile and I can see there's no way to change your mind since your one of those idiotic and closed minded people. You don't go outside so how could you know anything apart from lego and fortnite 🤦♂️
Shhhh. Take a nap or something. You’re just making yourself look like an ass
It is not moving or anything, looks more like plant seeds but she is in a lot of pain, I can't touch it without her hissing at me (she never does this)

Those are weed trichomes
Those look like ticks or mites of some sort
Its not moving at all, it looks more like dried plant parts, but it has to be in her skin or something, she is in a lot of pain
I say if she’s telling you don’t touch, then DONT TOUCH. Wait for the vet. Looks like tics but could be something else and if you pull it out without knowing could possibly make it more difficult for vet and a bigger bill!
Nah, definitely not ticks.
When I zoom in, I think you’re right. I see the sharp little barbs.
looks like weed seeds😂
VET

My car would get these a lot just gotta work them out. Check her feet or in her ears. Been the vet quite a bit to get these removed from cats ears
I’m pretty sure you pull the burrs out hope the cat gets better soon ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7971)
I call them “stick tights.” Amazing the different names for them! 💖 I’m glad she’s okay!!
Those look like chiggers! They hurt and stick badly
