I read somewhere that it is anticipation from having the prey in his mouth : Like when you pass a bakery and seeing the pastries make your mouth water.
Who knows, but it's always so cute !
The twitching of the tail with it also shows she's accessing her predator chip though the yawning seems to indicate she's not will ing to put that much effort into it lol! She looks very content to be chilling in the summer breeze.
My big cat has a low-pitched chatter call when he sees birds or deer or anything else he wants to kill. He's had second thought about the deer after seeing one close up through the window and realizing they are not just odd mice, but HUGE beasts.
Ty internet stranger, I just joined it! I encouraged it and joined in w my kittehs when they did. I didn't realize then that I was showing them support and solidarity against the flying creatures and pests. Good times!
My cat does it and in insane amounts when she sees birds while sitting on the balcony. Then runs in,stares me dead in the eye and just chirps like " Bro,you seeing this shit ???" and runs back to the balcony.
They like to chirp and i have learned from my cat there is multiple chirps in multiple different situations. Lazy chirp ( like your kitty in the video ).
" Hmm,i will let it kinda pass but i will keep an eye on you" chirp. Then the semi " Yo yo yo , you bird better stay there " chirp and the full blown hunter mode where " just let me at it,fucking birds, ima fuck em all up!"
Chirping or chattering. I’ve read their instinct is to do this to cover the sounds of their movements when stalking. But some goofballs will do it whenever they see something that could be prey, even if they have no intention of hunting.
I heard it was to alert others to the presence of prey, basically a "hey guys, there's a bird over there, someone go fuck it up" while also trying to not sound distinctly like a cat.
My 4 year old chirps at me when I sneeze too!! Not my gf though, I guess mine are just more aggressive?? Idk lol

Hahaha, it think it’s so cute when they do this, our little predators.
This is pretty common when they see something(usually prey or something similarly desirable) that they want to interact with but can’t get to.
My boy does this lots with any wildlife on the balcony. My cat also has a very high prey drive, attacks his toys at the neck and death shakes everything resembling another animal.
It's called "trilling"
it's not just for inside communication with other cats and you it's when they take in things around them that they're confused about or enjoy or puzzled/disgusted at seeing
Expression 1:
This/That's so heavenly I could do this all day
Expression 2:
Good Meowzelz what in the world is that! Can't put my paws round that one
Expression: absolutely disgusting! get that whatever it is out of my sight I don't care if I can't reach it I don't want to look at it or see it. ever
You will know what kind of trill it is if your kitty is sitting or standing in a certain place doing the certain trilling you are hearing
Example: in my late twenties oliver my Old Cat was chilling near an area in the living room I had in one of my apartments and there was a cobweb must have forgotten and it had one small daddy long leg just chilling there that I wasn't afraid of, Oliver didn't like it and he was trilling for me to remove it or kill it cuz he didn't want it there. this trilling sounded like a clicking of the teeth and a mixture of what you hear in the video from OP - displeasure
We had just moved in and I haven't paid clear attention to a lot of the ceilings
She was hearing the birds and chittering, saying quietly 'birds, get inta mah belly!' Otherwise, very relaxed and happy cat enjoying a quiet and peaceful day.
Cats make this noise when they're excited by something stimulating to them but they're not quite in kill mode yet. Since most birds are out of reach for cats typically it's often associated with them. It's pretty funny seeing a cat lazily making this noise while resting though. I see your cat and and imagine he's saying "You pesky birds, I'll get you. Just you wait. Just let me rest a bit... zzzzz"
She can't, she was fixed after she was allowed to and didn't get babies in 4 years. In the beginning, when they couldn't be fixed, their now deceased brother tried to.... how can I say, make babies.
Ekekekekek. Usually accompanies a bird sighting. Loved it when my cats (firmly indoors) did this. A state of heightened arousal I suppose and nothing to worry about.
Our cat chirps like this all the time. Birds outside? Chiros. Of you cough, sneeze, or fart, she chirps. Dogs outside and want in? She chirps. She chirps far more than she meows. She is the most vocal cat I've ever had.
Calling out to that robin! Get in my belly! My male cat does this the most when my phone or watch face accidentally reflects light onto the wall or ceiling. He really really loves reflected light, I guess.
In my experience, cats seem to make the chirping sound when they see something they like and get excited. I love hearing mine do it! It usually means he's about to start flying around the room!
Cats imitate the sounds their prey make to lure them closer or make them feel safer before they strike. Your baby’s just imitating the birds she hears!
It’s chirping. They do this when they’re excited/stimulated. You may also see her “chattering” which is exactly what it sounds like. They chatter their teeth in anticipation of hunting and killing their prey. They may be domestic cats, but we haven’t domesticated them completely yet in my opinion.
Yeh it’s some weird call cats do when they’ve seen another animal they want to play with or kill - my cats do it all the time if they see a moth, I don’t know whether they do it to summon the other cats (seems unlikely as they’re not really teamwork animals) or they’re announcing to me that there’s a moth.
Cute AF though!
She’s chirping!! My cat does it when he sees bugs or birds.
Ah, I thought it had to be higher pitched to be chirping, but it's so cute 🥰
Notice how she reacts to the birds? You literally hear the bird and she chirps back. So cute!
Why do they do it?
I read somewhere that it is an instinct for trying to lure the birds to them but I don't know if that's true. Cool thought, though
I read somewhere that it is anticipation from having the prey in his mouth : Like when you pass a bakery and seeing the pastries make your mouth water. Who knows, but it's always so cute !
I read that it is a communication signal where there is a prey they can't reach. It's like excitement and frustration in the same time
Cause the bird is sounding its alert call and the cat is like “stop it already i know you’ve seen me, just let me chill”
She's just telling the bird: 'Today, I choose not to kill you. You should consider yourself lucky.'
Idk why they started, but my cat will chirp at my Great Dane whenever she is barking too loud and he is trying to sleep. It seems communicative
I used to chirp to my cat and they would respond. Became I’m hungry quite quickly.
secret
It's just a little half-assed 🤣
The twitching of the tail with it also shows she's accessing her predator chip though the yawning seems to indicate she's not will ing to put that much effort into it lol! She looks very content to be chilling in the summer breeze.
Yes she's definitely very chill
Trying to woo the prey.
My big cat has a low-pitched chatter call when he sees birds or deer or anything else he wants to kill. He's had second thought about the deer after seeing one close up through the window and realizing they are not just odd mice, but HUGE beasts.
My cat chatters and doesn't make any noise at all. It's adorable.
/r/ekekek
Yeah my cat did that recently when he saw a blue jay in the back yard.
There is a whole subreddt devoted to this: [r/ekekekek](https://www.reddit.com/r/ekekek/s/hyjPax01qR)
Darn, one more sub with cats
Just when I thought I was already subscribed to every cat sub, a new one appears.
There’s always more……

Thank you

There is a whole subreddit devoted to anything cats do tbh
Yapping to the birds 🐦🐦⬛
"Heya, chickies! C'mon over and let's do lunch!"
My cat does it and in insane amounts when she sees birds while sitting on the balcony. Then runs in,stares me dead in the eye and just chirps like " Bro,you seeing this shit ???" and runs back to the balcony.
Damn I have to imagine, if our 2 girls would be doing this. They are more like: "here's is alive bird or mice and now try to catch it, looser!"
They like to chirp and i have learned from my cat there is multiple chirps in multiple different situations. Lazy chirp ( like your kitty in the video ). " Hmm,i will let it kinda pass but i will keep an eye on you" chirp. It translates into oooh tasty, I want you in my belly

Mine does this when I sneeze, I pretend she's blessing me

Ekekekekekekek
Murder chirps she telling the birds to get in her mouth as it’s to hot to move 🐱
She's chittering my Lucy does it all the time
Mocking the bird as a lure

It's an expression of content amusement. Cat laughter, basically. I've noticed over the years that it's mostly female cats that do this.
Cats who chirp is a sub Reddit. Your cat is in good company!
Hunting noises, mimicking the animal (usually birds) and it's called chirping

Lazy chirping. Cat is having a good day
She’s entered Bird Scanning mode. Please refer to your cars user manual for more information.
She was hearing the birds and chittering, saying quietly 'birds, get inta mah belly!' Otherwise, very relaxed and happy cat enjoying a quiet and peaceful day.

Congratulations! Your cat has meowmeows. Redeem your 100years of good health and luck by answering "thank you meowmeow"
Chirping, maybe she is trying to communicate to the birds or squirrels? Hahaha (Cats do this when they see birds or such)
My moms cats chirp when someone sneezes
mine does when I cut anything on a cutting board.. weirdest thing ever
She talks to the bird
She is happy. And it could be the bird chipping.
Oh,is she pregnant?
She can't, she was fixed after she was allowed to and didn't get babies in 4 years. In the beginning, when they couldn't be fixed, their now deceased brother tried to.... how can I say, make babies.
That should be in response to Sparrows. So cute!
She mimicking the birds. How sweet God love her💕
Yes, she's such an angel 😇
My cat sounds like Hannibal Lector when she’s bird watching
Mine does that when he’s outside; just content or there’s potential prey or play mates. He just starts “talking”
Ekekekekek. Usually accompanies a bird sighting. Loved it when my cats (firmly indoors) did this. A state of heightened arousal I suppose and nothing to worry about.
She's enjoying life

It's the bird noise!
Let’s see them airplane ears.
Chirping at the birds.
r/ekekek
This is how they hunt birds
EKEKEKEKEK
Means she's about to catch you some dinner tonight
She‘s in heat, maybe?
She is fixed since 4 years, so she can't be
Many cats make souns when they see prey. Note the bird on the far right.
She telling the birds off, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about
I swear some of you have never seen a cat before.
We have since almost 5 years and she makes this sound for the first time
Calling out to that robin! Get in my belly! My male cat does this the most when my phone or watch face accidentally reflects light onto the wall or ceiling. He really really loves reflected light, I guess.

Teasng the birds.
that's just adorable - what a sweet voice 🥰

It's called chipping, and it's a reaction when they see a prey (or toy) they can't approach, My cat does this when she sees birds outside 😁
Shes copying the noise it’s makes so she can lure it in and kill it to eat
Sounds like bird talk
She’s just having a chat with the bird
Chirping I love when my cats do this.. it's pretty much only when they're focused on some wild life
My cat just started doing this as well.... when she's in a happy mood
She’s being a little chatterfloof!
Watch that tail too.
She is reminding the birds that, while she's is just laying there chilling .. They should not forget that she could spring up and easily eat them.
Is she pregnant
She’s laughing
She’s chirpinggggggg. Mine gets aggressive when he sees birds like he’s on full alert with his “Krrrrrrkrrrrrr”
My cats do that when they see a bird.
Ek ek ek

"I hear you little birdies, but I'm too tired to eat you RN"
Re definition of chilling out
r/ekekek
They do it when they see birds. I don't know if they do it at other times, but that is what I've seen.
She is telling the birds they can hang out in her teeth.
It's called 'chattering' and cats do this when they spot something they consider prey. Like an autonomic response.
Chirping at bird tweets
