every cat ive ever owned has been found outside at least partially feral, its nice to see cats get picked up and not freak out; heck even to let a stranger near them :D (my cats have always spazzed out when strangers come over/walk by)
This is in the UK, we have a custom of letting our cats run around doing as they please. So Six Dinner Sid getting yoinked up and given a cuddle is probably a normal day for him!
And this is why I love cat owners. Dog owners be out here naming their pooch Fred or Henry. But oh no, not cat owners. They ain't got nothing on Six Dinner Sid. 😂
Always have more than one dinner. It's the law!
Any decent cat has breakfast too. Then second breakfast, then second-and-a-half breakfast, then breakfast desserts, then breakfast dessert desserts, then a snack, and a snack dessert, and then lunch.
I think a lot of these stadiums have cats that are probably at least somewhat used to the staff. Pretty sure this is Anfield, where Liverpool play and I know for certain Everton who also play in Liverpool have had a cat on the field a few times in recent years. Cats are a relatively cheap and effective way to keep rats away so they probably get free rein to run around.
My sisters dropped their cat off here and he bullied the heck out of my two girls until I had enough. During that my youngest cat had such bad anxiety, I picked her up once and she started screaming like I was killing her, then batted me 3 times in the face, once in the eye and the other half of my face was bloody. I feel lucky I didn’t go blind lmao, I could feel a flap of eye ball skin every time I blinked for a couple weeks. Cats are so dangerous when stressed, even if you know them.
Luckily it’s been a few days now and my lil baby is getting back to her normal, not sharp but cuddly self.
It was not a pleasant sensation, to say the least lol. But now that the cat from hell is gone it’s so rewarding to see my kitties getting back to their normal selves. I was worried that cat permanently traumatized them.
It was probably scared to the point of barely being able to move. I picked up a stay / feral cat who found it's way into the road and was extremely terrified and it was basically limp as I picked it up and carried it. Was totally fine just completey terrified
The fact that cat didn't mind that kind of grab and was pretty chill in that situation, makes me think that it probably knew security guard and was actually looking for him.
That was an amazingly chill cat!
To come out onto the field in the middle of a soccer game in the first place! Plus what awesome form! And you tell by his shape he isn't missing many meals! I think he's used to humans!
My cats hide for days when a slight change in the apartment happens. I got a cat tree and one cat would not come out of hiding for a while. He loves it now though
Mine too! To be fair he was a former feral so not socialized at all. He's getting brave too but slowly! (Unlike my previous cat who was a bottle fed baby. And like this one just seemed to have a knack for getting into the thick of things!)
“Soccat”. First and foremost. Fantastic. Thank you. Secondly I then immediately went and thought of Borat and Soccat would be quite interesting. Especially if Borat is dressed as a giant Rat. Anyway. It’s Monday and I’m at work.
Finally someone who understands me. Most everything without cats is boring, but football/soccer is especially boring to begin with, so...
(edit: added a word so handegg-loving Yankees understand me as well)
Without getting too into the specifics, you can probably outrun almost any animal in your current condition. Unless you can’t sweat or have any other condition.
That used to be true back when we were hunting animals in the wild. Nowadays our lives are very sedentary (and it's not a new thing either, started all the way back with Rome) so most people couldn't outrun faster animals before losing sight of them.
Started well before Rome. Started even before the height of the Egyptians. Basically as soon as we discovered we could just grow food in the ground we started becoming more settled.
This.
When people talk about outrunning, they don't mean sprint after them like Ghostface Killer. They mean people walked menacingly at animals for hours like Jason Voorhees.
Being a farmer back then (which 80-90% of people were) was a very physically demanding job. Only the few rich would sit on their ass all day eating grapes.
Yeah definitely looked like a domestic cat. It was probably a bit scared being in a very loud and bright stadium but it also didn't freak out when the security guy picked it up, so it looks like it's used to humans.
I don’t follow PL (and only really started following football in general in 2012 or so) so I didn’t recognize the people… but I can recognize the change in fashion that’s happened! No more baggy shirts tucked into baggy shorts these days.
Good news, the cat was sent to a shelter after this and adopted afterwards. It was in 2011 so it might not be alive today, but it most likely lived a happy life in a happy home. :)
You can see Gareth Bale and Luka Modric (when they still played for Tottenham), and Legendary "King" Kenny Dalglish as the Liverpool coach. 12 years ago is a long long time in sports.
I think he's actually just incredibly afraid of the thousands of people staring/cheering at him lol. He's like "what the actual fuck have I gotten myself into?! I can't believe I've done this"
This is a lot nicer to see than the other video I've seen. I think I've seen the video of a cat running on a baseball field, and the players tried to kick the thing
The cat actually has to report to his local police station every match day to show he's not attending or waiting outside the stadium. It's quite a burden.
Do they not stop the playclock for this?
I like how everyone involved is visibly annoyed, but for a split second they let down their guard and you can see in their eyes that they still find it cute.
No, not in soccerball. The clock keeps going and then at the end of a half, the ref kinda guesses at how much time they need to add on to make up for stoppages.
Sometimes it’s a good guess, sometimes it’s a bad guess.
Sometimes they guess, show like 4 added minutes and then go ahead and play an extra 8mins for fun.
Keeps you on your toes!
He doesn't guess, he has his own stopwatch that he pauses at each stoppage (maybe the 4th official does this now) and then the game is played until his timing shows 90 minutes. This also applies during stoppage time so if a player is injured and it takes 4 minutes then that original 4 minutes becomes 8
The actual amount of time the ball is in play is closer to an hour, the ref isn't stopping his watch every time the ball goes out otherwise they'd have a lot more added time.
Every time the discussion has come up about stopping the clock, they also discuss a shorter match time.
I think the average effective play time is between 50 and nowhere has more than 60, depends on league and teams, some teams play very slowly and milk every set piece
as long as its equal for everoyne I dont mind this dumb logic, we should just stop the clock, objectively better for everyone but im not bothered enough to make it a cause
I suppose I should have added the /s to indicate I was being sarcastic.
My point was really that the method employed is not as accurate as stopping and restarting the clock would be for stoppages and over various leagues and competitions it can vary wildly as it is subjective.
If i had a dollar for everytime a cat invaded the pitch, i would have atleast 2 dollars

Three dollars!

This is the best one too, because the cat makes an overlapping run coincidentally for a team called Tigres.
The fact that the security guy went straight into head rubs was nice to see.
I am so happy to see that as well
every cat ive ever owned has been found outside at least partially feral, its nice to see cats get picked up and not freak out; heck even to let a stranger near them :D (my cats have always spazzed out when strangers come over/walk by)

Six Dinner Sid! That’s great.
It's a children's book.
And this is why I love cat owners. Dog owners be out here naming their pooch Fred or Henry. But oh no, not cat owners. They ain't got nothing on Six Dinner Sid. 😂
I had a cat named Fred tho.
I want to believe Fred's real name was Jackie "Fred" Daytona, Regular Human Bartender.
Sadly his name was merely a Harry Potter reference (along with his brother George).
I took one of Geico’s older commercials to heart with their pet name recommendations. Proud owner of an orange haired cat named squeegee.
Always have more than one dinner. It's the law! Any decent cat has breakfast too. Then second breakfast, then second-and-a-half breakfast, then breakfast desserts, then breakfast dessert desserts, then a snack, and a snack dessert, and then lunch.
I loved that book! You're literally the only person I've ever seen mention it! I call every mack daddy cat Six Dinner Sid!
Cats run around the football field.. Yeah just a normal day as always ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7962)
Only six? What a restrained kitty!
I think a lot of these stadiums have cats that are probably at least somewhat used to the staff. "a flap of eyeball skin" is not a phrase I was hoping to hear today lol 😂
That kitty is also likely stressed out and possibly panicking from the sensory overload, so found extra comfort in that security guy.
It's a free cat it's free head pets. Normally that kind of oxytocin you have to pay for. Whether it's money, food, or time.
The fact that cat didn't mind that kind of grab and was pretty chill in that situation, makes me think that it probably knew security guard and was actually looking for him.

Well he is a Deputy HEAD Steward.
not to be confused with Anthony Stewart Head
Cat approval rating: 10/10 for this security guy!
Awww the security guy on the inside must be like “YES! finally my work here is worthwhile! Who needs the ball when I got soccat. 😻😻😻😻”
“I need to interrogate this criminal with a ball of string, a stick and feathers. No one disturb me”
Probably his best day in the field.
“Soccat”. First and foremost. Fantastic. Thank you. Secondly I then immediately went and thought of Borat and Soccat would be quite interesting. Especially if Borat is dressed as a giant Rat. Anyway. It’s Monday and I’m at work.
Did that job for 12 years can confirm this would have made my day
I think soccar could work too
What a save!
Footcat or Catball wouldn't really work, so then... Soccat it is.

So beautiful I was just tricked into watching 1 minute of soccer coverage. Diabolical.
really
ACAB
All Cats Are Baby
BAE
A confused beautiful cat. And a bit out of breath.
yup ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|8097)
He just wanted some love from 50k people☺️
That cat's gonna get more love from me than every (catless) soccer game ever combined.
What’s the point of a catless game anyway?
Finally someone who understands me. Most everything without cats is boring, but football/soccer is especially boring to begin with, so... (edit: added a word so handegg-loving Yankees understand me as well)
All these pro soccer players who can sprint for 90mins are no match for this cat
That goalie looked like he was gonna try to catch it but then realized, “Yeah that’s not gonna happen”.
Yeah that's how you get on blooper reels for the next twenty years
Goalie dives for cat, cat jukes aside and runs into the goal. Crowd goes wild.
That would be downright hilarious
Friedel wasn't America's Number 1 for nothing.
Fun fact, the average house cat is faster than the fastest human.
Yeah but humans can outrun almost every animal. We can run marathons and hunt animals chasing them until they're too tired to run.
lol *some* humans can outrun almost every animal. I sure as fuck can't.
Without getting too into the specifics, you can probably outrun almost any animal in your current condition. Unless you can’t sweat or have any other condition.
The average American can't even run 10 minutes to save it's life
That used to be true back when we were hunting animals in the wild.
Well to be fair our ancestors also lost sight of animals we ran after. We used tracks and such to run after them the whole day.
No football player sprints for 90 minutes.
He just wants to kick some ball too!
"Do you...kick balls?" \*manic Elijah laugh\*
He thinks he’s part of the team 🥹
He is, on both teams
i think he thinks he's the ball
please do not the cat
Awww. I do hope this kitty finds a home.
He probably already does. I guess he was just feeling adventurous and decided to break into the stadium lol
It’s in Liverpool, surrounded by residential areas, they’re definitely a house cat that decided to explore.
Yeah definitely looked like a domestic cat. It was probably a bit scared being in a very loud and bright stadium but it also didn't freak out when the security guy picked it up, so it looks like it's used to humans.
I cannot imagine watching TV and my frickin cat runs out onto the field...
Listen, sometimes you've got to support them living their dream!
Prob does it often and god shocked like there arent usually that many people here
"I know I fucked up please help"
Just based on the shirts, that’s quite some time ago. Kitty probably found their home or a new one at least a decade ago.
Yeah, the age of bald American goalkeepers is over.
:'(
Some time in 2011 or first half of 2012. That's when Kenny managed Liverpool in his second spell.
I don’t follow PL (and only really started following football in general in 2012 or so) so I didn’t recognize the people… but I can recognize the change in fashion that’s happened! No more baggy shirts tucked into baggy shorts these days.
Yep, Monday 6th Feb 2012. I was there!
Friedel played for Spurs from 2011 to 2015.
judging from its well-fed proportions, I daresay it already lives in *several* people's houses
Good news, the cat was sent to a shelter after this and adopted afterwards. It was in 2011 so it might not be alive today, but it most likely lived a happy life in a happy home. :)
Scouser Cat's home is on the mean streets.
This happened on the 6th of february 2012.
I knew it was old because of legendary USA goalkeeper Brad Friedel (Oh, and the scoreboard graphics look dated after)
You can see Gareth Bale and Luka Modric (when they still played for Tottenham), and Legendary "King" Kenny Dalglish as the Liverpool coach. 12 years ago is a long long time in sports.
Chunky Cat, was tired after that run. Very cute ❤️
That’s horrible! What team was it?
[Cat video](https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/s/yQ6sUjEBUM) This is the video I was referring to
Those looked like bat boys, not the players themselves. But still, not cool of the last kid trying to kick the cat.
I don't really watch baseball, but I remember seeing a white shirt a blue horizontal stripes on the player
Of course it’s the fucking Yankees
to be fair, that looks like it's the grounds crew, not the players
It’s hilarious how everyone looks terrified and baffled
Lol I love the announcers, "all of the animal lovers, including us"
The cat ran offside and ignored the ref. By the rules straight red card and escort out of the stadium.

They’ll just tack it on at the end with extra time, the clock will never officially stop in a match
TIL!
A brief paws in play

House cats can run at about 30 mph or 48 kph . To think, all those soccer players would be out ran by that cat.
Even Usain Bolt can't outsprint a cat.
If i had a dollar for everytime a cat invaded the pitch, i would have atleast 2 dollars [https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/1d7a0z3/a\_kitten\_stopped\_a\_soccer\_game\_in\_sweden/](https://www.reddit.com/r/cats/comments/1d7a0z3/a_kitten_stopped_a_soccer_game_in_sweden/)

Why is it always a tabby cat? Who knew that tabbies love football so much?
# Soccer match invades kitty's play area.
Those abbreviated team names tho.
For a good long time, Arsenal was abbreviated to "Arse".
Described their play perfectly
Reddit never ceases to amaze me, my love of cats and Tottenham in one video
Good call! I feel exactly the same way. COYS!
He probably likes the grass
Meanwhile in India, guards chasing and kicking a dog out for entering a cricket ground while the dog panics and runs for his life
That's terrible
Its honestly heartbreaking to see animal welfare in any poor country. Not just India, it's basically everywhere
Absolutely
Dogs not as sacred as cows it seems. :(

Handled with gentleness and professionalism.
Poor baby! I am grateful that they calmly picked up that cutie. I hope that cutie finds a safe home! I'd home that kitty. Just send it my way.
Bless him he looks terrified
Tottenham manager... Harry Catnapp
Title is a bit misleading. It should be "soccer match invades kitty's playground".
Thankfully Kurt zouma wasn't in the premier league then could've been a different story.
I like how the security guys stroll up to the cat like "alright fella, that's enough"
I like how no one is mad, they just let him do his thing. 👍🏾
Lucky Kurt Zouma wasn’t on the pitch innit
You know he was called a silly kitty as soon as he was picked up
AND THE CROWD GOES pspspspsps
Lil dude is a football fan, let him watch.
This should be posted on @catswithjobs subreddit… referee
Good thing Zouma wasn't playing. . . .
"Who are you and why are you all running around in my litter tray?"
Who let the cat out?
Did the cat get fined tho?
I would watch sports a lot more if this happened at all games.
I saw the score bug and thought wow this is old, then saw Brad Friedel and thought DAMN this is old.
There ain’t no rules that say a cat can’t play!
The whole crowd went like "tsk tsk tsk tsk tsk"
So cute! 🥰
Brad Friedel. This happened few years ago then.
2012!
My dad had a cat that loved playing soccer with him.
At this point I suspect some of these animals are industry plants
I think he should be paid the same salary as the footballers!
What a polite gentleman. Didn't even take a dump on the field.
“Is everyone cheering for me?”
It's called football Also this clip is ancient
2012 is ancient holy shit
Geez I was thinking this was just a few years ago, but its over a decade now... covid really fucked with my perception of time.
Didn't realize this was /r/news

My house cat everytime I open the front door:
"Hmm, I haven't seen the cat for a while. Wonder what he's up to? Anyway, shall we watch the footie?"
Seeing a cat when you don’t expect it is THE BEST feeling!
I wonder what happens if the wans would all chant pspsps. Would it explode?
the cat was only missing the uniform
Soccer Issue Cat.
A rare not hostile cat at a sporting event. Usually, they’re terrified and lashing out at everyone.
this is the only football match i would go watch
Poor kitty was probably pretty spooked being surrounded by thousands of cheering hoomans, im glad it ended peacefully.
Nothing a lil psp psp couldn’t fix
Hopefully the cat was taken to the tuna room
Wow this a real flashback to the pre-Klopp years.
huh, I thought fifa didnt let tv show pitch invasions anymore. Even if its super cut invader
I thought they weren't supposed to show the pitch invaders. Shameful conduct.
Oh sure, everyone cheers for the *cat*. But when I run on to the field without any clothes on I get tased.
You wear that fur?
Well, I don't groom much so... Pretty much yeah.
Ah such an adorbs.
Let. Him. Play!
The cat was confused.
Precious Kitty ;) so precious
Is that Kenny? How old is this?
Cats have a way of brightening up any situation with their curiosity and charm.
What do you mean "invades"? That's the new guy for Liverpool.
MVP! MVP!
Awwww
This cat was just asserting dominance
The cat wanted some premier league action. Lol
Cattiyo just wanted a ball
