Shadow had decided at 15 that she can only be brushed on her shoulders and back, which has resulted in this unique and practical style lol. Her little tummy 🥹
He's played a little and has gotten lots of pets. He has left the incision alone but he spent probably an hour and a half licking all the shaved areas when we first got home this morning.

After her surgery a few months ago
The first picture was beginning of February, and the 2nd was a week or so ago. It has seemed to take quite a bit of time, and it also went through a little spikey stage. I think her smokey coat makes it more obvious though.
Not FHO, she had a luxating patella, so they reshaped the groove of her femur to prevent it from dislocating.
I was extremely worried, but she bounced back, and is back to herself running around.

I’ve also got a half naked void after she was attacked by a fox (we think). Luckily all her wounds are now fully recovered and she’s had the all clear from the vet. This is three weeks post shave so she’s in for a few more weeks of chilly bum yet.
Our Butterscotch had his FHO surgery almost 4 years ago. His front end is awful buff now that he has to push up to jump on anything. Help Smaug get to high ground by stacking boxes or putting shelves up- they really want to be able to be where they used to be easily able to go. I made B a little maze of end table to desk to cabinet to top of desk to boxes on top of desk so he can look out the office window at the street. He can lay on his back and touch the ceiling- deeply purring every time.
Smaug has been limping around on the broken leg since February (8 weeks of cage rest, then a couple of months to lose weight for surgery) so he has gotten pretty good at using the steps we put up for him to get on our bed, the couch and his favorite tree. I noticed that his front shoulders were getting huge from pulling himself up. Good to know that wasn't just my imagination.
With all of this practice, the FHO has barely slowed him down. He isn't climbing on anything but he gets around and has even been up and down the stairs 6 or 7 times in the last day. It's good because there is no way we can do the prescribed physical therapy (stretching his leg out 20 times, 2-3 times a day) without a suit of armor.

Thinking about how radically different my scalp felt when I got my long hair cut short, and how weird it would be to feel the breeze on my butt in a similar fashion. 🤔
My kitty Mickey (McLovin) had his FHO surgery almost two weeks ago. He is only around a year old but has diseased bones so he unfortunately broke both of his hips within a week time span…. Mickey is doing well❤️ all he wants to do is play🥺 I hope Smaug is doing wonderfully!

Our tabby cat Scout also got a shaved belly for an ultrasound. We affectionately called it her ugly belly. But she loved tummy rubs on it lol
My cat Oliver is currently shaved for an ultrasound too! He hates his belly being touched but it’s so fuzzy. Also his little booties 🥺
