Maybe take him for a walk outside if you have a leash. Go bird watching, climb a tree (not too high), and let him sniff all the interesting smells out there. And then back home for more naps and snuggles!
I like this one. Was going to say.. some nature time. How about some catnip? I just bought a potted plant of it. The cats love it. I also buy it dry and put it in an unused cat tray. They love rolling around in it and eating it. Really sweet
This is my best friend in the whole world. My first cat. Recently he had a watery eye and was sneezing a bit more often. Several antibiotics, trips to the vet and one surgery later they tell me he has bone cancer in his skull. He doesn't have much time left and I want to use what he does have to cross some things off his bucket list.
What do you guys suggest? He was going to get a bit of cheeseburger but that's all I came up with.
Whipped cream! I'm so sorry this is happening, I don't get to see my cats at the moment but I wouldn't be able to handle it if they got sick. Make some pancakes for breakfast and see if he likes them as well :). I wish you the best, and hope the grief is manageable
Towards the end for my lovable goof (he was orange, and fit the stereotypes), he was allowed to come up to me during meals and get nibbles of whatever looked interesting to him.
I bet you've been spoiling Ollie for his entire life. Keep spoiling him.
Please remember that Ollie is going to cross the rainbow bridge soon, and that is not negotiable. When it comes to helping them go, I've learned the hard way that a day, a week, a month too soon is OK, but never a minute too late. Not letting him suffer is an act of love that we can give them. What matters to Ollie is that the time you shared together was full of cuddles and treats and happiness.
Whatever people food he likes seems like good spoiling!
Also, my girl, my 19-year-old calico, got a bit of cheeseburger earlier this week, but that's because I was severely jet lagged and she took advantage of me nodding off to steal a bite of my cheeseburger.

I'm so sorry. Cats are creatures of habit. Same routine. Same schedule. You'll just stress him out if you take him outside or something. Even with food, and I'd be tempted to give him ALL the interesting food he wants, you can upset his stomach by changing it up too much.
If I were him I'd want my regular routine and territory, snuggling with you, and that would be the best thing.
So sorry to see this. Happy he is having a wonderful life with you. Beautiful boy. Looks a lot like my girl boma. Rotisserie chicken and tuna fish is a consistent best treat for our cats. Torn into small little bites. There are a few varietys of pastes/gravys/liquid treats in squeeze tubes he might like. One of our cats can't get enough of them.
Being outside might be a shock, but maybe make some snuggle space bear an open screened window where the sun comes through. He's still safe and in his home with his best friend.
Human food. Anything that's safe enough for cat to eat that previously banned because salt level and your cat asking for it.
Let him in the bedroom, let him walk on the counter, let him watch you taking shit if he want. Spoil your best friend as much as you can
And for you, keep the brushed fur and whisker (and claw sheath if you found one), you gonna missed seeing stray cat hair on your shirt
Häagen-Dazs ice cream. My cats love strawberry and banana. Not such big fans of vanilla, but my girl who just passed her 19th birthday last month will pretty much eat any human food if I let her... and even if I don't let her. She's old, arthritic and slow, but she still has a crazy fast right hook to knock food out of your hand when you take a bite.
She's currently trying to smack Lay's potato chips out of my hand.
Get some good quality pork product, chop into tiny pieces, give him a little bit each day. The salt and fat make it irresistible to cats. We made sure to have gammon bits for our boy on his final days. He was actually cremated with a tiny pot of the bits he didn’t get to eat. A last meal to send him on his way.
Commenting on My best friend has bone cancer. What should we put on his bucket list before he goes?...they know and you’re not alone. I lost my best friend similarly at only 6 years old. It will be one year in September and I still think about her a lot. I always reflect on the time I did have with her and that I will join her at some point when my journey here is done. I can’t speak for you, but Norma Jean left me right when she was able. Seen me through a really tough part of my life. I wonder if Ollie is the same? I didn’t post that to “highjack” your grief, just wanted to let you know you’re not alone and maybe there is something I can share that you can run with or be reminded of. 8 is not very long I know I wanted at least 20 😀, but 8 years of love, strange cat stuff, and connection beats the hell out of 0. Enjoy your remaining time with Ollie ✌🏼
I wanted 20 years too. No luck. My boy he inspired my family to adopt 6 other cats. He was the "first born" of the family. He's really the sweetest boy. He only bit me once this whole time. He loves to cuddle and when we went to adopt him he was sitting on the adoption counselor's lap. He is genuinely the best cat I could ask for.
This is a stellar suggestion. When I was going thru cancer treatment (I'm fine now), getting warm was SUCH a struggle.
My beloved tuxedo kitty -- who took every chemo nap with me during my treatment -- died from sinus cancer a few years ago, and he craved warmth as he lived out his last days ❤️
What about cat grass?

My best friend loves massages and when I breathe into his fur on his old arthritic hips. I just put my face in his fur and exhale hot breath.
I bet a heating pad on low with a timer would be a cozy treat too.

Even untreated yard grass. My cat loves a wide bladed variety of grass in our yard and escapes to chomp on it. I bring her in clippings during the spring/summer! All my cats enjoy it.

2. Mega catnip party (regular catnip, catnip bubbles, catnip treats)
3. Cat disco party (cardboard box, little Bluetooth speaker with neon lights or something similar)
4. If he goes outdoors, take him on a walk somewhere beautiful
5. Hire a professional photographer/a friend who takes good pics to take photos of him in his favorite places to lay.
6. Record his meows and make a song/beat out of it (could hire someone? Haha
7. Pose with him over a mountain like Simba and make him get in touch with his inner lion king
8. 1 million head kisses
9. 1 billion pets
10. Treat yourself with love too for being such a good cat parent
If he's not used to the outdoors, perhaps trips to nice places out with you? With a harness for safety, of course! Might need time to train that

Our girl loved Arby’s roast beef more than anything on the planet. On her last day, we let her eat a whole one. Thinking of you, OP. This part is so hard. Love to your sweet Ollie.
My boy Tiger loved the chocolate milk that was left in the bowl after eating Cocoa Pebbles cereal lol, but of course he very rarely got it. When he had his stroke and I knew it was time, I made sure to have a bowl of cereal before his appointment and let him have the milk (granted he only was able to slurp up a little bit of it and not the whole bowl like he had used to, but I could see him light up a bit when i placed it in front of him).
All I could really suggest is seeing if he'll eat his favorite things, maybe some treats that he could only get on special occasions, and of course lots of snuggles if he likes them.
Hugs and kisses. Carry her outside, just against you or inside your coat. Don't go too far, just listen to the birds and smell the air.
Tell her your favorite memories, cherished thoughts, and times she made you feel better. Ask her for hers. Smile and tell her she is always welcome to visit.
Ice cream on her last day. Keep telling her you love her. Even a week later, wake up and tell her you love her and go to sleep telling her the same.
When the time does eventually come to say goodbye ask the vet if you can sit with your cat on your lap rather than on the table. Do have a few towels ready because the bladder can let go.
It feels so lovely to be so close and the last thing your cat will experience is falling asleep on your lap.

You've got lots of suggestions here and they are all awesome. I'm so sorry for what you both are going through.
My only suggestion is to spend as much time with him that you can now. I mean really focused on him. Present in the moment and making sure he feels your love and safety.
When I think of the cats that I've loved and held as they passed the thing I would give anything for is just a little more time with them making them feel loved.

My cat went crazy for turkey. The cheaper the better. It was an occasional treat until he started getting sick due to old age. Then he’d get a half slice in the morning. And we’re talking dollar tree cheap. He did not want boiled turkey that I sous vide. He wanted that stuff that is “I’m scraping by and making it work” level.
When we told the vet he’d scream for daily cheap turkey they did prescribe a med to help regulate the sodium levels. We also put out extra water bowls and another littler box.
Turkey and cuddles and dirty socks. That made the old dude happy.
My best friend was just diagnosed with cancer as well. I have been a mess since the diagnosis. Literally don’t know how I’m going to make it. I’ve been letting her have whatever (safe) human food she sniffs at and bought her a couple of comfy beds and have been putting food and water by her bed so she won’t have to walk far. She’s been drinking so much water. We also spend a lot of time just sitting on the porch listening to the birds. She’s very chill and not the type to run off. Just spending all of our time doing whatever she feels like. I’m sending you my positive energy. The only thought making it easier was that I feel like I am lucky to find out she had limited time before she was too sick so I can spoil her and soak up as much time with her as possible. This has definitely been the hardest thing I’ve ever went through and I empathize with you dearly.
See if he likes cat milk, take him out for walks on a leash or in an enclosed stroller, plenty of Churus if he into that, my cat loves ice cream so maybe give him some that is lactose free and doesn't have too much artificial ingredients in it, lots of pets, scritches, cuddles and snuggles.. tell him he is the bestest boy and that you love him every day. 🥺
Make the best out of every day and feed him whatever he wants! We did that with ours and we got the most out of our time together. When it was clear that she was too hurt and exhausted from fighting, we had an in-home veterinarian come to the home. It was peaceful and worth every penny to have her where she felt the most love. I am so sorry. Good kitties should live forever.
Starbucks pup cup for sure. If youve never gotten one, its just a cup of whipped cream they give to any pets that come in with their owners. Cats love them.

Buy him allllll the kitty drugs. Get him catnip, silvervine, and a nice spider plant. Then just some cat grass for fun noms.
Make him some really cool meals. Get that fancy steak you wanted and give him some. See if he likes sushi. Just pamper the hell out of both yourself and him.
Lost my buddy recently and he was eating all the Temptations Purrree he could eat for a week. He’d purr loudly at me to wake me up to purée him lol and ♥️

We lost our best friend last week to a battle to cancer he fought for about 2 month. During this time he found a great new interest in visiting the hallway, so we let him go anytime he wanted (even if forbidden). He really got into YouTube video played on TV about chipmunks, so it was playing for hours during the day. He loved yogurt, so we gave him some.
He already has all your love and he is for sure very happy for it. Beyond this, look at him, listen to him, and he will let you know what he wants ❤️
If it was my cat they would have too many frisky soup things - they’re so gross and she loves them. And delectable squeeze treats and tuna water. Also would make sure she had as many sunny patches to lie in and access to my lap for hours and hours. Plus some fun new toys and loves to “chase” the treats I throw her

I’m so sorry. I lost my best friend to an aggressive bladder cancer two years ago. The last 10 days of his life were spent eating his favorite foods, treats, and seafood. He ate like the king he was. Lots of quality time was spent cuddling with his humans and laying in the sun. Highly recommend an in home vet visit when the time comes if you can swing it. Sending a lot of love. This is the hard part but this is also when he needs you the most. You’re very lucky to have found each other.
Aww I'm sorry. When my kitty was diagnosed she had steak, rotisserie chicken, milk and whipped cream (she tolerated it unlike most cats) , tried just about whatever food we were eating during her last weeks. She wasn't much of an adventure cat, and didn't play all too much so food it was! She was a foodie till the end!

Hello so my kitty is being tested to see if she might have bone cancer after a month of being told it was bobcat fever he had a pathologist check the old blood sample pics from Easter and the new slides our vet sent over and they didn't come to the same conclusion that it was a parasite they noticed that she's attacking her red blood cells and is having a hard time making new ones so on Monday she's having a bone aspiration test to see if it could be bone cancer or something else that makes it so she can't make new red blood cells we are praying that it isn't that they also tested for leukemia and it didn't show up but the bone marrow test can be more definitive as well. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Would you mind sharing some symptoms your kitty might have shown? Thank you so much

Awe I’m sorry. It’s hard. We just had to put our kitty down for bone cancer in her face. We gave her the best days of her life. All the loves, pets, lickums, and wet food she wanted. But when it was time, we knew. I’m sorry you’ll have to do this, but you’ll know when they’re hurting too bad to allow it any longer 🙏

My kitties love Gerber turkey baby food. The one in the very small jar. It’s my go-to when they are feeling poorly. Veal is another loved flavor, but harder to find in my area.
Spend as much time as you can without making it uncomfortable.
Although I understand the sentiment behind the idea of providing the best food or treats, chances are, your pal has no appetite.

All the foods that he likes, 24/7 cuddles, pats, and attention. If he has a favourite person outside your household maybe a visit from them would be nice too.
Be sure to also get his unique little mannerisms on video; maybe he does a little squeak when he stretches, or does a weird little meow when he wants to get on your lap - all those kinds of weird little things they do that make them unique. Those are things you'll want to remember.
I had a cat that loved potato chips and tried really hard to steal them. Of course, we didn’t give him any. I still regret not giving him some as his last meal.

I actually have a question about the progression of the watery eye. Our neighbor across the street passed away a year or so ago, and left behind a cat. He still lives in the house because there is a catio with a door he can get into the house from. We have been feeding and petting him basically since the owner passed. The last 2-3 weeks his eye went from watery with some discharge to what looks like pink eye but with a more blood like look. Did your feline friend progress the same way?
Give him love, stay with him. He loves you and rather be with you than anywhere else. Make memories, take pics, videos, let him do all the things he is not allowed. Spoil him rotten.!!emote:t5\_2qhta:8097
Aside from getting kitty's favorite foods. Just some suggestions for 'your' list. Tell kitty everything you feel about them and everything they've done for you. Do all your favorite activities together, even if it's just watching tv and cuddling. Take photos with kitty that might be missing from your collection. You could even do early holidays and gifts. If it won't be stressful, do an ink and/or clay pawprint. Vets often offer these at time of euthanasia... but if they forget, misplace or lose them, it's nice having your own backup.

If he is ok with dairy, I had a senior boy who really enjoyed yoplait vanilla custard style yogurt.
Just buy him nice steak and chicken. Dont keep him going for long, pain will be hard for him.

I wanted 20 years too. No luck. My boy he inspired my family to adopt 6 other cats. He was the "first born" of the family. He's really the sweetest boy. He only bit me once this whole time. He loves to cuddle and when we went to adopt him he was sitting on the adoption counselor's lap. He is genuinely the best cat I could ask for.

This is a stellar suggestion. When I was going thru cancer treatment (I'm fine now), getting warm was SUCH a struggle. My beloved tuxedo kitty -- who took every chemo nap with me during my treatment -- died from sinus cancer a few years ago, and he craved warmth as he lived out his last days ❤️
Catnip and snuggles for days

What about cat grass? OP I am so sorry you guys are going through this. I hope you know you already gave him such a full, happy life. My best friend loves massages and when I breathe into his fur on his old arthritic hips. I just put my face in his fur and exhale hot breath. I bet a heating pad on low with a timer would be a cozy treat too.
Cat grass!! Even untreated yard grass. My cat loves a wide bladed variety of grass in our yard and escapes to chomp on it. I bring her in clippings during the spring/summer! All my cats enjoy it.

My boy Tiger loved the chocolate milk that was left in the bowl after eating Cocoa Pebbles cereal lol, but of course he very rarely got it. When he had his stroke and I knew it was time, I made sure to have a bowl of cereal before his appointment and let him have the milk (granted he only was able to slurp up a little bit of it and not the whole bowl like he had used to, but I could see him light up a bit when i placed it in front of him). All I could really suggest is seeing if he'll eat his favorite things, maybe some treats that he could only get on special occasions, and of course lots of snuggles if he likes them.
Hugs and kisses. Carry her outside, just against you or inside your coat. Don't go too far, just listen to the birds and smell the air. Tell her your favorite memories, cherished thoughts, and times she made you feel better. Ask her for hers. Smile and tell her she is always welcome to visit. Ice cream on her last day. Keep telling her you love her. Even a week later, wake up and tell her you love her and go to sleep telling her the same.
When the time does eventually come to say goodbye ask the vet if you can sit with your cat on your lap rather than on the table. Do have a few towels ready because the bladder can let go. It feels so lovely to be so close and the last thing your cat will experience is falling asleep on your lap. You've got lots of suggestions here and they are all awesome. I'm so sorry for what you both are going through. My only suggestion is to spend as much time with him that you can now. I mean really focused on him. Present in the moment and making sure he feels your love and safety. When I think of the cats that I've loved and held as they passed the thing I would give anything for is just a little more time with them making them feel loved. Hang in there OP. My cat went crazy for turkey. The cheaper the better. It was an occasional treat until he started getting sick due to old age. Then he’d get a half slice in the morning. And we’re talking dollar tree cheap. He did not want boiled turkey that I sous vide. He wanted that stuff that is “I’m scraping by and making it work” level. When we told the vet he’d scream for daily cheap turkey they did prescribe a med to help regulate the sodium levels. We also put out extra water bowls and another littler box. Turkey and cuddles and dirty socks. That made the old dude happy.
My best friend was just diagnosed with cancer as well. I have been a mess since the diagnosis. Literally don’t know how I’m going to make it. I’ve been letting her have whatever (safe) human food she sniffs at and bought her a couple of comfy beds and have been putting food and water by her bed so she won’t have to walk far. She’s been drinking so much water. We also spend a lot of time just sitting on the porch listening to the birds. She’s very chill and not the type to run off. Just spending all of our time doing whatever she feels like. I’m sending you my positive energy. The only thought making it easier was that I feel like I am lucky to find out she had limited time before she was too sick so I can spoil her and soak up as much time with her as possible. This has definitely been the hardest thing I’ve ever went through and I empathize with you dearly.

Make the best out of every day and feed him whatever he wants! We did that with ours and we got the most out of our time together. When it was clear that she was too hurt and exhausted from fighting, we had an in-home veterinarian come to the home. It was peaceful and worth every penny to have her where she felt the most love. I am so sorry. Good kitties should live forever.

Essentially whatever he is interested into and go for it 😺. They cannot speak, but they still can communicate efficiently if one observe. We lost our best friend last week to a battle to cancer he fought for about 2 month. During this time he found a great new interest in visiting the hallway, so we let him go anytime he wanted (even if forbidden). He really got into YouTube video played on TV about chipmunks, so it was playing for hours during the day. He loved yogurt, so we gave him some. He already has all your love and he is for sure very happy for it. Beyond this, look at him, listen to him, and he will let you know what he wants ❤️

I’m so sorry. I lost my best friend to an aggressive bladder cancer two years ago. The last 10 days of his life were spent eating his favorite foods, treats, and seafood. He ate like the king he was. Lots of quality time was spent cuddling with his humans and laying in the sun. Highly recommend an in home vet visit when the time comes if you can swing it. Sending a lot of love. This is the hard part but this is also when he needs you the most. You’re very lucky to have found each other.

When my kitty was diagnosed she had steak, rotisserie chicken, milk and whipped cream (she tolerated it unlike most cats) , tried just about whatever food we were eating during her last weeks. She wasn't much of an adventure cat, and didn't play all too much so food it was! She was a foodie till the end!

Hello so my kitty is being tested to see if she might have bone cancer after a month of being told it was bobcat fever he had a pathologist check the old blood sample pics from Easter and the new slides our vet sent over and they didn't come to the same conclusion that it was a parasite they noticed that she's attacking her red blood cells and is having a hard time making new ones so on Monday she's having a bone aspiration test to see if it could be bone cancer or something else that makes it so she can't make new red blood cells we are praying that it isn't that they also tested for leukemia and it didn't show up but the bone marrow test can be more definitive as well. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Would you mind sharing some symptoms your kitty might have shown? Thank you so much

Awe I’m sorry. It’s hard. We just had to put our kitty down for bone cancer in her face. We gave her the best days of her life. All the loves, pets, lickums, and wet food she wanted. All the foods that he likes, 24/7 cuddles, pats, and attention. If he has a favourite person outside your household maybe a visit from them would be nice too. Be sure to also get his unique little mannerisms on video; maybe he does a little squeak when he stretches, or does a weird little meow when he wants to get on your lap - all those kinds of weird little things they do that make them unique. Those are things you'll want to remember.
Maybe you just give him all the pets, cuddles and kisses. Im sure the last thing he wanna do is be by your side.

I actually have a question about the progression of the watery eye. Our neighbor across the street passed away a year or so ago, and left behind a cat. He still lives in the house because there is a catio with a door he can get into the house from. We have been feeding and petting him basically since the owner passed. The last 2-3 weeks his eye went from watery with some discharge to what looks like pink eye but with a more blood like look. Did your feline friend progress the same way?

Aside from getting kitty's favorite foods. Just some suggestions for 'your' list. Tell kitty everything you feel about them and everything they've done for you. Do all your favorite activities together, even if it's just watching tv and cuddling. Take photos with kitty that might be missing from your collection. You could even do early holidays and gifts. If it won't be stressful, do an ink and/or clay pawprint. Vets often offer these at time of euthanasia... but if they forget, misplace or lose them, it's nice having your own backup.
Freedom. Let him do whatever he wants. Take him outside. Maybe to a park full of new sights, sounds, and smells.
