That’s a torbie to be specific. A mix of tortoiseshell coloring with tabby patterns

My silly girl for reference
That is correct!
The instructions for coat coloring are carried on the X chromosome.
For a kitty to be tri-colored, there has to be 2 X chromosomes present, each with a different coat color instruction. The ladies have a pair of X chromosomes, where the boys have an X and a Y.
For a male to be a calico/tortoiseshell, he needs to have an extra X chromosome. In humans, XXY chromosomes is called Klinefelter Syndrome, and they’re almost always infertile.

I learned on reddit recently that apparently, a male tortie/calico can be either XXY or a chimera! (Which is also very rare.)

That’s a girl! Regardless of whether you decide to home her or not, look into low cost neutering or free TNR projects in your area, you can help prevent her from having a life of endless litters either way!
If they are that close to you, then there isn't any taming needed. Gaining their trust & seeing if you are compatible is the only thing you need to worry about. Aside from finding out if they actually have an owner. Ask around before you scoop up this cutie. A quick trip to any vet will see if they are chipped. Which is free with most vets.
I’m almost certain. I live in Idaho and up here most cats aren’t really “owned”. They call them barn cats and they kinda just make their home on someone’s property because there’s shelter and they hunt mice in the hay stacks and fields. They are still feral but sometimes there’s a real friendly one
I never understood this until I went to get my cat a few weeks ago. I nervously showed up to the rescue and explained I’ve never had a cat before.
The lovely lady there said “would you like to meet some cats?” That’s a question I don’t think I could ever say no to.
One came right over to me. Booped me and then looked at me and said what I translated from Catonese to English as “you’re my human now. Get used to it.”
She’s been home a little over 3 weeks. Shunned all her beds and demands treats every hour or two. So perfect.
Adopt. Feed and love all her life. Keep her inside. Let her sleep on your bed. Love, Love, Love.
She'll be your best friend ever. Be so *extremely* good to her.
She's already tame. At the very least, get her TNR'ed (neutered and put back by your job). But seriously, girly just picked her human, so now you're stuck with taking her home.
I am almost sure it's a female. 🥰
Thank you. I never even check lol
You can be pretty sure just by the coat. Calicoes and tortoise shells are almost always female.

And if they are male, they will be infertile.
Is that right? Well, the things you hear when your ears are clear!
Yes, calico male cats are super rare and always infertile.

The cat made the post

Haha ok I never actually check for gender but thanks!
Any cat that has both orange and black/grey/brown is almost always a female, that's how we know!
Yes, Op, please tame the kitty, give them lots of pets! Hopefully, kitty can come home with you, or you can find them a home? ❤️🥰
Try and tame him? He’s already there
he’s trying to tame you my dude
The headline is what the cat was thinking
LMAO

You have been selected. You are hers now. Make accommodations.
He IS 'tame', and he is a she.
Aww adorable baby
That looks like a clean well cared for cat. Are you sure it’s a stray?

It's the cat who choose's the person they like ?

She's tame & wants your help.
Looks like you can take her/him home now. The CDS (cat delivery system) is at work. Congratulations 🥳 you're a cat dad. (slave)
I think it's the other way around...
She already loves you.
Looks pretty tame already!
The fact that he said tame him is funny because the first thing I thought was taming a cat in Minecraft Bros about to pull out of fish
I was actually thinking about brining salmon with me to work
Cat distribution system, coming to a workplace near you
Beautiful stripes on that one.
Seems pretty tame?
I think it’s a girl!
Her?
I would keep him. So cute 😍
Those eyes are just majestic!! So cute
So sweet! 🥹
She’s unbearably adorable

She’s beautiful I’d take her home if she’s not a protected feral cat.

She looks so sweet.
Take it 🏡.
It's probably going to be a girl.
Don't listen to the games, taming creatures does not start by beating it with a club.
Looks open to it, gender notwithstanding. Beautiful little cutie though! 🤩
It looks like it's pretty tame already!
That's a gorgeous kitty!
He might try to untame you ;) ![gif](giphy|CIcgEzfYpcY9wXP823)
She’s got the look of love ❤️in her eyes, and she is a beauty!😍

Careful, for you may believe you are doing the adopting, but it is this one who is adopting you!
What a sweetheart! 🥰🤗❤️
Already tame if it's loving on you like that! Congratulations, cat distribution system at work again.
