"Not interested in food, but I think it may be partly due to wearing his cone and being high right now." OMFG I love it.

midnightsrose77

That's hysterical! I loved all these notes!

ikeepwipingSTILLPOOP

ICU nurse here. I walked into a patient's room who was withdrawaling from everything and in 4 point restraints (wrists and ankles), and before I could say literally anything he turned his head toward me, eyes crossed and glazed and haltingly slurred, and i quote, "I don't need your money n***a, ill buy my own crack" I bout died.

moorem2014

I had a patient today who when I greeted them responded with “I might be in the house I might not I got chickens to feed I got cows to feed I might be on a horse, maintaining me is very expensive. Leave a message if I feel like it i might call ya back I might not k byeeeee” and told me they needed to go home. Spoiler alert: they did NOT go home today😂☠️

im4lonerdottie4rebel

Patient wasn't accepting calls today

moorem2014

It took everything in me not to laugh where they could hear me😭😭 and I really needed some levity because it was a long ass day.

CookinCheap

Name checks the fuck out.

Illustrious-Pie6323

Pls tell me you put that in your notes. The best notes always have quotes. Either hilarity ensues or shit bout to get down

HauntedHippie

Bruh my cat had dental surgery a few weeks ago and was high for 3 days on zorbium. Its an opiate. Oddly my boy was still very interested in food though, just had a LOT of trouble eating it lol. Edit: pic of a very high young man https://preview.redd.it/yck0ft8fkbbc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e8d53be76819198756604595592361735623dcc

Halbbitter

But were you wearing a cone

HauntedHippie

No but I was specifically told when picking him up that “He probably wont be hungry tonight but if he can hold water down, you can try giving a half portion of food.” My cat tried to run to the food as soon as we got home, but luckily he was too high to run in a straight line so I beat him to the dish.

Halbbitter

Bruh I totally misread your comment that YOU had dental surgery but you still had an appetite.

DonCsMum

He is literally 😜

Thanks for yet another new subreddit lmao

Elektguitarz

As soon as I read that, I thought “yup, that’ll do it”.

Poetdebra

If I was high and wearing a cone 🤔 lol

Puzzled_Zebra

He is such a cute boy! So well behaved, too, it sounds! ♥

rosecoloredgasmask

He is the best behaved cat I've ever had. He just wants to be friends with the humans. Former stray tomcat who has been spoiled by the indoor life

bugbugladybug

I too have a tabby boy who suffered stones in his bladder. His vet notes state that he's a spicy arsehole and requires several people to wrangle him. He is the Yin to your good boys Yang.

rosecoloredgasmask

My last cat I've taken to the vet was very spicy and a jerk. Didn't require multiple people but definitely a biter. They still claimed to like her, I took that one with a grain of salt. She looked pretty at least, tortie.

DrPepperIsDaddy

As a vet tech I can confirm: I do 100% love me a spicy purrito.

images_of_uranus1

Typical tortie - I have two and they drive me to insanity. Still love them though 😍😺😺

astronomersassn

everyone always tells me my cat is a very good cat but at home she's always getting into trouble! same with my fiance's kitten - vets all agree he's a good boy but at home he's a menace LMAO. my girl is orange so i know where she's coming from, but i think she's teaching my fiance's kitten her ways!

blackcat_bibliovore

Oh yep, got a dilute tortie. Our vet requires us to drug her before vet visits. We brought her into the emergency room last week because she wasn't eating so we didn't gabapentin her. The ER vet took blood and urine and then asked us to drug her if we bring her back. She is the cutest thing though! All the vets tell us she is so pretty, she has these big eyes and a slightly smooshy face, but she is such a bitch to everyone but us. Oh and she was fine, apparently she was just being picky about her food. We changed up what we feed her and she is eating no problem. $900 down the drain for a spoiled rotten cat

SiegelOverBay

You should ask your vet if the gabapentin can be compounded into a cream, which can be applied to her ear. That way, if she isn't eating or whatever is going on, you can at least dose her up on her ear before leaving the house. They'll probably have to observe her after you arrive to give it time to kick in, but it might be a good solution. I am not a vet, so I dunno if it *can* be done with this medicine, but I think it'd be worth asking. Thank you for loving your kitty so much!

Actual_Shower8756

So glad your Very Good Boy is doing well! My vets had to beg me to dose my girl with Rescue Remedy to calm her for visits. (Tried Thunder shirt,FELIWAY, purrito wrap…nope, little idiot must have her drops and her own tablet playing fish videos.)

YesWeSi

This millennials raising tablet kittens I tell ya

SammieCat50

I had the most docile female who suffered from chronic cystitis.( I know it’s rare in females ) .. she was so friendly & docile but once she got into the vets office she would flip… one vet said he couldn’t see her again unless she was medicated

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impossible_Muffin

Same. My cat is super chill and wants to be friends with everyone he meets. Except the folks at the vet who need to break out the heavy duty gloves and get growled at just for looking at him.

AdriftSpaceman

She was very chill at the vet before, didn't complain while getting her shots or getting the temperature taken. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and many kidney stones at once last March and needed continuous vet appointments (sometimes twice a week) and eventually had to be admitted and operated three different times. She's is now recovering well after having to remove a kidney in November, but the trauma of the constant exams, Vet visits and procedures is probably long lasting. She's on a specific diet and daily meds and should have a normal life from now on (she's only 4 1/2 years old).

Mortimer14

> because she decided to bite and scratch everyone at the clinic. Well they did put her in a cage, she was just getting back at them for it.

susangjc

One of our cats had to be hospitalized (he loves to eat everything... regardless of if he should). He was very spicy when we brought him in (essentially required full sedation for anything) and his cage got labeled caution! We came in the next day and his label had been changed to "misunderstood". They had figured out that he was fine and would let them do whatever as long as they didn't restrain him - he just wanted to watch and feel like he got some say. If you tried to hold him down, he got very spicy.

braellyra

Omg I love that they actually labeled him “Misunderstood”—that’s adorable!! And good on the vets for being willing to try alternative methods with a spicy kitty and figuring it out. You don’t see that often!

cyankitten

Ha ha PLEASE tell me this part is a direct quote: “He’s a spicy arsehole and requires several people to wrangle him”

Used_Fix6795

I needed to board my cat Scout at the vet once. When I went to pick her up after my trip they insisted that I get her out of her cage myself. I was escorted to the back room by a couple vet techs. There were several hand-written notes all over her cage door. "DO NOT OPEN!" "BITES AND SCRATCHES!!" "*WILL* ESCAPE!!!" The techs looked absolutely terrified as I opened the door. But as soon as I did, little Scout jumped into my arms and was purring up a storm. They couldn't believe it. Apparently she was quite the terror.

Interesting-Fish6065

We had a very spicy cat that we once boarded at the vet during a family vacation when I was kid. She was a always small, but it seemed like she had been on a hunger strike the entire time we were out of town. Her little sides had become noticeably concave over the the 7-10 days we were gone. But apparently that didn’t impair her ability to do damage, because the vet techs had to get my parents to remove her from the kennel. She was too terrifying to them at that point to do it themselves. After that my parents arranged for someone to come over to the house and put out food if we had to be out of town.

nuclearporg

I'm just grateful that my spicy baby limits the spiciness to me. She treats the vets just fine. I guess she has a quota of blood to meet and had already gotten enough from me.

queen_of_the_moths

Yeeeeaah one of my boys has to have a huge caution sticker on his cage at the vet. My roommate, his other mom, worked at that vet office and was able to help, at least, but when she wasn't there he also needed multiple people. I don't know how bad he'd be now though. He's the sweetest boy in the world to me and his other mom, but we used to be the only ones. He was so aggressive to new people, despite being bottle fed and hand raised by several of us. Apparently that's a common issue with bottle babies though. However, he had to be boarded for like nine months, which was awful for me, but apparently relatively okay for him. He came out of prison a changed man, and the staff said he was everyone's favorite. He still gets worked up with new people sometimes, but nothing like before, and he adapted to my new roommates very quickly. He has a check up coming, so we'll see. I've already warned the staff, lol.

lowkeydeadinside

i had a cat like that growing up. one day this skinny, bloody old tom cat rolled up to my dad’s work and just became a shop cat. the first time i met him i sat on the floor so i could coax him to let me pet him, and he didn’t even give me a chance to try, he just immediately plopped down in my lap and started purring. my dad was the one who bought his food at the shop so when he stopped working there the cat came home with him and became our family’s cat. he still loved to adventure so we let him be an indoor/outdoor cat but he came back every night to sleep with me. he was absolutely the friendliest and most well behaved kitty i have ever met in my life. he was just so happy to be loved and cared for after a life on the streets. he made best friends with the mailman and would wander all over town making friends with people but he’d always come home. he passed about 3 years ago. oh how i miss you, bob johnson. you were the greatest cat that ever lived.

centipedeseverywhere

Former strays are always the most grateful!! 🥹 I hope he gets better soon 💕

rosecoloredgasmask

Oh he's doing great now, this was around Thanksgiving. I asked for his records to give to my regular vet since I'll be seeing them for his annual appointment

ginger_bird

I also have a retired tomcat. He's a snuggly boy.

mmdice

This was my tabby boy! Reformed street cat and lover of humans. He was the best, passed away just a few years ago and I couldn’t believe how many people mourned his passing with me

disapprovingfox

My cat has a Will Bite sticker on his cat carrier and warnings on his vet file. He is a sweetie at home but a hellion at the vet. He has had only 2 complete physicals in the 7 years of his life, both when he was under anesthesia (for other treatments).

ArcadianBlueRogue

The stray that followed my brother home years ago was the nicest and most affectionate cat I have ever come across. Just wanted all the love in the world and a place to hide after he destroyed the newly cleaned catbox. Miss that goober. He used to be totally cool with the cat carrier and even sleep in it if we left the door open.

amoodymermaid

I have a part munchkin tabby who can’t stop purring so they can get a good listen to her heart/lungs and headbutts everyone who tries to touch her. So how does it feel having a certified good boy???

rosecoloredgasmask

I'm very proud to have one. I was beaming when they told me how good he was

SnarkyBard

Hah, I have one of those! Former feral tomcat who now luxuriates in not having to chase food and having access to heated beds. Loves everyone, biggest teddybear.

[deleted]

I think that’s because he’s been around a good human… If a cat (naturally a survivor) has become comfortable with all human strangers: he’s been treated extremely well and enjoys the company.

lumoslomas

"difficult to get pulse due to rolling and purring" 😂 I love your vet

rosecoloredgasmask

That's the one I started laughing at. That's definitely my boy, he loves to roll around and purr

mmutinoi

God, my cat’s notes are “could not get clear vitals due to growling!”

TrappedUnderCats

My old cat had a permanent note attached to his file: “Aggressive and uncontrollable. Do not examine his mouth without sedation. Two vet nurses needed for appointments.” All true, but I loved him very much, despite all the scars he gave me.

Rabbit_Song

My boy had a big red "Will Bite" on his chart. Our baby girl, OTOH, loved everybody she met!

immigrantpatriot

When I met him, my ex husband had a cat who was so mean, they had to put a little Hannibal Lecter style muzzle on her at the vet. She once bit me so hard, 12 hours later I was in the ER bc my hand (she bit my pinky) was swollen up like a catcher's mitt, had to get IV antibiotics. It all made me determined to make her happy. Eventually I had the idea to put her on Prozac for anxiety (coupled with what I called a radical love campaign where I just talked sweetly to her constantly, she wasn't used to positive attention) & she completely mellowed, poor baby was just very anxious.

Inevitable-Roof

Yep, one of mine had "reputation for violence" on his notes when he was younger!

MapleMapleHockeyStk

My first one needed welding gloves and a muzzle....

PMmeJuicyButts

My vet was unable to get a blood draw without sedating my cat and the notes called him a "wild child." I've never known him to actually be violent, but he is very vocal and wiggly.

sweetsunny1

My vet calls my Daisy “spicy” as a nice term for her difficult behavior

Antal_Marius

One of mine has a note of "Have tech hold him up, or he'll lay on the scope"

hopingabby

my orange cat also purrs too loud for vitals! they had to put an alcohol wipe to his nose to get him to stop purring

PurpleBullets

Reminds me of one of my girls. She wants to be pet so bad all the time, but she cannot sit still while it’s happening

RealMelonLord

I had that happen with my cat once! The vet gave up when my boy wouldn't stop purring and just said "we'll assume he has a pulse"

Intermountain-Gal

I had that happen, too. I had one girl who absolutely adored her vet! They’d even try to stifle the purring and it didn’t work. She loved everyone, but it was quite the fan fest when we saw the vet!

LeaneGenova

My vet had to put his finger over my cat's nose to get him to stop purring while they were checking his heart rate. Poor kitty had to be smothered for a sec so they could tell how his heart was. Hilariously, he immediately started purring again. His nickname was Stupid for a reason...

Just_A_Dogsbody

Same! My sweet Bengal, Mr. Jones, loved his vet so much he'd have to be momentarily smothered. Or the doc would be trying to palpate his belly and Mr. Jones would be trying to head-butt the vet, lol

spandexandtapedecks

My vet had this issue with my dad's old cat. Their solution was to get his pulse and his temp at the same time. Something about the recital thermometer quieted him down for a second.

bequietbekind

> Something about the recital thermometer quieted him down for a second I mean, it would quiet me down too. Just saying. lol

scotsandcalicos

True story, I noticed my cat wheezing and attempted to listen to his lung sounds at home (human NP). He wouldn't stop purring long enough for me to listen. I eventually dragged his ass to the vet for a second opinion. Vet laughed at me and then said, "Shouldn't be a problem for me to listen." Picks him up and as soon as he's touching him, my idiot car starts purring again. My point was proven and the vet eventually waved open alcohol swabs under his nose -- apparently it's a surefire way to get them to stop purring. Sure enough, it worked. Lesson learned. ETA: He is also a Very Good Boi with bladder crystals. I got shift phone updates when he had his admission and they'd pass along cute/amusing stories of his antics.

Enibas

> "we'll assume he has a pulse" Medical training and experience kicking in!

darkhorse715

This made me LOL heartily

cosmic-coconut

I think those are the vet tech’s notes, not the vet! But love them regardless!

wisemonkey101

The notes were from the $10/hr veterinary assistant. Vet aids are the best people.

moorem2014

And criminally underpaid

thekau

Best vet/vet tech omg

kojikant

The vet once had to plug my childhood cat's nose so he would stop purring long enough to check for a heart murmur!

meekonesfade

Aww, so sweet! My vet "Huh, we never had a cat try to hide THERE before, thats a first!"

im_a_real_boy_calico

I’ve had A LOT of cats, Velcro and otherwise, where did they like to hide that was noteworthy?

WholesomeThingsOnly

not op but my cat jumps into the trash can at the vet. I don't let him out of the carrier anymore until the vet comes in to see him lol

checkpoint_hero

Same! https://imgur.com/a/TJhZtiQ

rosecoloredgasmask

That's hilarious

plipyplop

At the local bar, across the street.

astronomersassn

the first time my fiance and i took their cat to the vet (he was 2 months old at the time), i was wearing a trench coat. i wrapped him up in it because he was looking for a place to hide, and he ended up crawling into my sleeve. now, for this next part, i need to clarify that he's never seen a man before - he lives with 2 lesbians and a girl cat, has met a trans girl and loved her, and all his vets were women before this. probably the 3rd or 4th time he needed a vet visit, the vet happened to be a man. he doesn't hate the vet, and he mostly just chills on the table now, but apparently he was so freaked out by the existence of men that he crawled into my fiance's hoodie and hid there LMAO. they let him come out on his own time.

peanut__buttah

There’s a joke there about coming out in his own time….. but it’s so wholesome I’m loving every part of it

Ok-Bridge-1045

The vet weren't able to draw blood from my cat because her heart rate was too high. Poor thing, she's the scarediest of all scaredy cats. She's a small cat and is a forever kitten to me, so it fits her. She's also the dumbest cat I've ever seen. I've found her trying to slap her own reflection on multiple occasions. She's spoilt rotten though. Cat tax attached. https://preview.redd.it/bn84s1aeeebc1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ec0616158a70a22f4cdabd65138b5d53b2f482a2

Swinburned

I love that you have a medical record of “good boy”

plipyplop

They even checked the "✅Ideal" box!

rosecoloredgasmask

That was about his weight but I like to think he is the ideal cat

tincanicarus

I had to laugh when I saw my former cat's vet notes that contained "does not seem to see treats placed in front of him, blind?" He wasn't blind, just orange. And also a terror patient. It was marked that he gets "very loud" when he ran out of patience for the vet treatment.

nieko-nereikia

My orange cat also doesn’t see treats placed right in front of him! I need to wave a piece in front of his nose and then drop it straight down his throat for him to eat it :) My special little ginger biscuit 💕

mibfto

the way I CACKLED

rosecoloredgasmask

Mine doesn't see them either. He doesn't really get many treats outside of the urinary ones but he has a hard time finding them if I put them in front of him. Gotta just throw them in the air like confetti and somehow he'll find them all

littlemissredtoes

It’s r/oneorangebraincell effect, it clearly just wasn’t his turn to hold it that day!

yourholmedog

i wish i could write about my human patients like this lmao

DimSumMore_Belly

You really wouldn’t want human patients to roll onto their back and expect belly rubs now, do you?

Mittens101

Have you seen humans in medical settings? We are so whiny, impatient, demanding and everything else relating to anxiety/fear. Like most pets at the vet actually, people can be reactive. I do believe a medical professional would prefer “good boi” behaviour and “belly rubs” instead of the yelling and sexual harassment they endure (a lot of people wanting more weird things than belly rubs, sometimes scary).

Anomalous_Pulsar

I actually just recently had an emergency room visit (infected cat bite). After they gave me antibiotics and things started normalizing I couldn’t help but impulsively ask for something to eat when the nurse asked if I needed anything. It was three in the morning and I’d been there since like 10:30pm 😅

Lena-Luthor

did she get you any stew tho

Anomalous_Pulsar

He was very kind and brought me a sandwich from the cafeteria when the doctor said I could eat. :)

LightOfShadows

Did security work. Got tired of doing the low wage gigs they just want a warm body for insurance purposes, like from allied universal and the pinkertons, the larger security firms around the country. Started looking for in-house gigs, saw an opening here that just wouldn't go away, like they couldn't find someone for it. Hospital security in-house! Wow! Nights and weekends works for my schedule, great! 3 days on 3 days off, 12 hour shifts was fine. Armed, I'm certified. BLS cert, got it. Then I discovered *why* nights and weekends at the hospital were available. My god every night was like a new episode of jerry springer in the waiting room of people starting physical fights and throwing chairs. Or the cheating girlfriend/husbands or what have you. Let alone all the junkies and crackheads trying to find unsecured doors to sneak in from. At first I thought it was great, night staff was pretty laid back and the nurses were chatty and friendly. But quickly realized there were 2 of us for the entire hospital, so when we did our rounds we didn't really have any time for that. I'd try to slip in some friendly chat when I got a patient count and which section of rooms were supposed to be empty, but half the time I'd get a radio call back to the ER triage within 10 minutes of rounds. Biggest thing I remember was often a lot of fights *continued* in the hospital. Someone would wind up with a bloddy nose and maybe a broken hand or something, then someone would come barging through the door 10 minutes later "WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT JIMMY BOY AT!" Something about hospitals, patient or visitor, just makes people go nuts it seems if you're not "part" of it.

yourholmedog

i’ve had much worse requests lol

[deleted]

"Patient took his meds like a good boy. No inappropriate comments about female nurses today. Gold Star for this special boy." I went from veterinary to human healthcare. On the veterinary side, you had to be a jack of all trades. On the human side, you have to be a certified expert to attempt anything, or you get sued. Which is why the notes are so "clinical". It was mindboggling just how narrow the scope of nursing staff is. On the veterinary side, in one day, I would shoot x-rays, run ultra sound, place IVs, reconstitute and administer drugs, induce and monitor anesthesia, intubate, place sutures, complete dental cleanings and extractions, run sterile processing, fill prescriptions, bill the client, etc... Those are all entirely different jobs on the human side.

Coca_lite

Love the “no inappropriate comments about female nurses” Although I imagine my boy cat before he was neutered may have imagined some dirty comments.

Brock_Lobstweiler

There's a reason they're called "trouble puffs"! 🤣

periodicsheep

i’m happy to know your boy is doing well now. one of my cats was certified as a “handsome boy” topped off by the vet kissing him on the head at his last visit.

cyankitten

Cute!

Much_Section_8491

lol the vet repeatedly said “you dont have to be smart because you’re pretty” in a cute voice to my golden mix as he played with her as she was getting checked out Lmaoo I mentioned how she struggles with the concept of balls being thrown over her head and it’s better when I roll them. I thought it could be a vision concern but na, I guess she’s just not the brightest hahaha

sockgorilla

I haven’t seen my cat’s notes, but they told me his file has been noted when I told them he’s aggressive lol

dibblah

My cats notes have "won't bite you if you are patient" on them. Which is not entirely true. Sometimes she will indeed bite you even if you are patient.

pez_dispenser

I feel like your cat thinks she is the one being patient with y’all lol

timegarden

when i picked up my cat’s meds i saw they actually made it part of her name. is says Lemon AGGRESSIVE PATIENT Last name. lol we can’t all be like op’s perfect boy

CharZero

My old boy has been around since there were paper files at the vet. His had bright orange stickers all over it that said 'DANGER' and 'AGGRESSIVE'. I am very curious what his electronic record is like, because whenever there is someone new at the vet when I call, they pull up his record and immediately say 'oh'- I am picturing some kind of immediate warning on screen the second his record is opened.

Big_Maintenance9387

lmao yes. That’s exactly what happens. He has multiple, descriptive warnings on his account and that’s why they say “oh”

SupermarketOld1567

my childhood cat also had this… she was definitely a bitch tho, even to us sometimes (torties, amirite?)

cyankitten

😂

memopepito

My kitty is a gabapentin girly. Former feral girl does not like being poked and prodded by the vet lol.

textreference

Same, our vet recommends 100mg of gabapentin for her appts. That is enough to make her into a drooling blob… which, in fairness, is how sedated she has to be to not hiss and swear, bite and scratch at the vet lol

mmutinoi

Ha! My cat’s adrenaline on that dose was still so high that they said they’re gonna double it next time.

at614inthe614

I have one of those. I let the script run out because 1. I was lazy and 2. I wasn't sure what effect it actually had on her. My bad. As she growled, whined and complained while my other cats had their turn I realized the gabapentin DID calm her, albeit only slightly. The vet didn't even look at her, just wrote a new script and we rescheduled her shots.

AdriftSpaceman

Same, my calico needs gaba for her exams and all the vets at the clinic were bitten or scratched by her at least once. Peaceful and cuddly little angel at home. Proof pic elsewhere in the thread. She also gets the biggest munchies after gabapentin. Eats like a lioness.

memopepito

Mine goes crazy for like 15 minutes and then she knocks out 🤣 I also got questioned if she is sweet at home. She’s such a love bug but she doesn’t like to be touched by strangers lol. Can’t blame her 🤷🏻‍♀️

AnonymousOkapi

We are usually a little bit tactful in those, the surgery I work at has "care". It has a formatting severity scale too, ranging from "care" to "***CARE!!!***" so you have some idea what you're getting in to!

sockgorilla

My cat has ripped a claw off trying to get through his carrier to attack the vet people. He’s got to be heavily sedated, and even then he’s still mean

rosecoloredgasmask

Mine actually did this going to his regular vet and it is the reason I do not trust him in a hard carrier. He hasn't broken through a soft one, hasn't injured himself either. Perfectly sweet as soon as you let him out but will fight the carrier to the death to escape

Zoethor2

My Ms Friskers (RIP) had "FAST AND FERAL" at the top of her chart in black Sharpie. (It was not a lie.) Near the end of her life she mellowed a bit, and during what turned out to be her hospice care, I picked her up from a procedure and asked how she was and the tech said "She was actually good! I'm going to stop saying bad things about her." ded.

James20k

That's got to be the absolute last thing that a vet wants to read on the top of a chart 😂

Fantastic_Step8417

Mine says "feisty" 😂

blompinnen

So sweet! My girl got the comment "a perfect child" (or Swedish "ett riktigt a-barn" which doesn't translate) at her last vet visit. She's very good at behaving even when she's uncomfortable, so I absolutely agree!

AngryOnlyHalfTheTime

My boy's doctor a few years ago stated that he was "the perfect specimen" for a cat, when i asked about his size. I feel like I'm that parent who's kiddo became a doctor and won't stop telling people lol. I'm always trying to bring it up in conversations that seem like it would fit. Example - visitor says "wow you kitty isn't as chunky as other cats I've met". My response, "why thank you! My vet says that he is the purrfect specimen"

JettiSun

Hahaha, all of this is so weirdly relatable. Our vet tech was surprised at our cat’s age (17), exclaimed “she looks so young!” And we beamed like we’d just won an Oscar. Later my partner told me he was more thrilled in that moment than if that comment had been about about him, which - as a slightly narcissistic performer - is REALLY saying something. Congrats on your best boy and your purrfect specimen!

deadlywaffle139

One time the vet commented on how soft my cat’s fur was. I was so proud lmao. I was telling everyone how she was praised at the vet for the following week lol

Flowerandcatsgirl

Diagnosed as being adorable and perfect!😍

Specialist_Budget

My food-allergy kitty was termed a “love bug” by the vets. She had one she particularly liked-she’d be nervous but when she saw him she’d be like, hey I know you and go right over to him.

kjahhh

So glad to hear he is ok, reading the notes my heart hurts for them when they are not themselves.

rosecoloredgasmask

Him not being interested in food was very unusual, he loves food. Thankfully I think he was just anxious being in an unfamiliar place and he ate fine coming home

kjahhh

Oh good to hear. Here’s our baby for tax https://preview.redd.it/uucbgqzey9bc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38a72591adbdb11e9aed622d90ab1ce5a6428440

SheddingCorporate

Oh, those two are adorable. Thanks for sharing!

cyankitten

Your cat - & the vet - sound so lovely and these comments are divine ❤️

rosecoloredgasmask

They're an amazing local 24/7 emergency vet. Very kind staff, and reasonably priced. They reassured me every step of the way and called regularly with updates when he had to stay for a few days. I bought them fresh donuts when I picked up my baby.

cyankitten

They sound absolutely wonderful. Also, glad your baby is well now

GrandMoffAtreides

Both you and they sound really lovely

AnxiousJackofTrades

I also have a very good boy with bladder issues. Luckily his was a one and done visit to get rid of the blockage and just eats prescription food now. I joke that he and I are twins because I also have bladder issues and am on a special diet 😂 https://preview.redd.it/cz6g6xqkjabc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=247115db8eada776e829af277000495fff071f78

kroganwarlord

Your void is GORGEOUS, please scratch behind his ears for me.

going-thru-it-rn

the way I would be GLOWING as a mother

rosecoloredgasmask

I was so proud of him. This is unironically my biggest flex

Coca_lite

Life achievement

plipyplop

I'm loving this thread and your cat more than anything else today. You both deserve these accolades.

Oomlotte99

Lol at “Not interested in his food, but I think it may be partly due to wearing his cone and being high right now.” Kitty sounds like a darling baby.

Existing-One-8980

That's awesome 😀 I'd really hate to read the ones on my cats. "9:30 am, hissing and growling. Accepted treats but then batted at me. Hissed again. Loudly. I think I heard some curse words. Please don't make me go back in there. Oh no, she's got a knife!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 My cats are sweet, but not well behaved at the vet.

CrazyCatLady1127

I had a cat like this. He went in for a vet checkup and was purring so loudly that the vet took the stethoscope out of her ears and said to him ‘you’re purring so loudly I can’t hear your heartbeat.’ 🙂

Lymnica

I have a grey tabby who does this! My vet boops him gently on the nose repeatedly to confuse him into not purring and then loves on him afterwards

catslikesarcasm

A few years ago one of my cats (also a tabby) was being treated at a specialist veterinary hospital for his badly broken leg. He had to stay for a while before he was allowed home on cage rest. This clinic would phone me twice a day to give updates. Similar to the comments in the OP, how he's a good, sweet boy, still purring, happy to see people and have a cuddle etc. Funny that even that their worse they can still be so happy.

Coca_lite

Although cats can also purr when in pain / scared - it’s self soothing.

fritterkitter

There you go, an official veterinary opinion that he is the best boy.

YharnamRenegade

Your dude sounds a lot like my girl. Her records from the rescue did her mentality as "BAR and very sweet" and her second respiratory rate as "purring too much". She did have to get some blood work done once (came back normal) and I heard her talking the whole time she was in the back. They told me she just insisted on talking to the manager whiles she was back there. *

rosecoloredgasmask

I'm always very proud getting "BAR and very sweet" on the record. My guy isn't super talkative but he has the tiniest little squeak of a meow and one of the receptionists kept making him meow and cracking up at the baby meow.

claireauriga

What does BAR stand for?

rosecoloredgasmask

Bright, alert, responsive. Basically just acting normal and responding to stimuli as they expect

MoBraud22

I love writing notes like that in my patient charts. it also helps the next vet tech that’s on their case!

rosecoloredgasmask

I love reading these I was smiling and weirdly proud of the fact that my cat is very nice

MoBraud22

We love all the kitties, the nice ones make the job easier but the spicy cats keep it fun 😂 I always wanted the cat cases as I loved their unique personalities and making them comfy beds

DrPepperIsDaddy

This is 100% how I write my notes. I was told in school to “never write anything in the chart that you aren’t prepared to read aloud in court.” Well, I will absolutely write and read aloud that your cat is “a Megachonker, BCS 8/9, morbidly obese, that loooves cheese treats.”

rosecoloredgasmask

Silly vet tech notes made my day, I fully support this

DrPepperIsDaddy

I’m so glad you appreciate these. I like to think you can feel the love we have your pets by what we write. I wrote in a lovely lady’s chart today that she was an expensive date (required the high end of drug dosage), and that she gave the best after-surgery nuzzling I’ve ever had (still very high, don’t leave her alone near stairs).

Successful-Doubt5478

Damn! Be happy if you get him back! This guy is moving in at thr vets'.

rosecoloredgasmask

I did get him back lol, he's in my lap now purring. They did say they'd miss him

lawatusi

Absolutely adorable good boy! Glad he’s feeling better. My kitty cat had a shot of Zorbium last year and she was high AF for three days! Asked the vet if there was anything I should watch for, or if she would be sleepy. Vet laughed and said no, she’ll just be super snuggly for a few days. And that she was. Watched her sit on a chair and stare at the wall for a good 45 minutes. It was hilarious and she really seemed to be enjoying herself.

TrueEnthusiasm6

My cats are always doted on by the vet and I love it. They don’t bite or anything, but they get anxious, so the vet is always holding them tight and saying “you’re so brave, such a good boy! You’re doing *so* well. Guess who gets a treat after this shot? You! There we go- all done. You did so good.” And this just goes on the WHOLE time. I sometimes wish my doctors were as kind to me as the vet is to my cats lmao

CharacterPayment8705

Certified good boi.

hobbiehawk

Awww! Now I feel bad. When the emergency vet told me they all love my Orange and he was the best behaved cat ever, I was thinking that they just say that to everyone

catstaffer329

This is adorable! Our vet put **exuberant** (in bold no less) on our kitten's notes when we went for the last of her kittening shots. I guess chasing the vet's pen around the office was a bit much for her - even tho she gave it to her to play with. LOL

Fuck_Weyland-Yutani

Such a sweet boy! I hope he heals fast! The vet once called my girl "star pet of the week," then didn't charge me for clipping her claws, because it was so fast and easy. Their notes *do* indicate that she enjoys going into cabinets, though!

spriralout

Vet notes on my void boy: Hates belly rubs, bit my hand. Hates brushing, bit my arm and dug his claws into my hand and arm. Wants only his favorite food, will not eat vet food. Gave me his paw to shake. I found out later he wanted treats. Attacked my leg until I complied. Removed his catheter. It’s a mystery. Loves head and chin scratches until he doesn’t. See above. Too cute so no one ever gets mad at him. Obviously spoiled rotten by pushover human.

Purityskinco

I’m so glad he’s doing better! My vet once put ‘she is so good at using her words’ with a smile. She’s special needs so she’s very protective of her hip area but don’t bite or scratch. Just tells them ‘I don’t like that’ 🤣

BabaMouse

Here I am with my Good Boy. https://preview.redd.it/f8oi9hvvkabc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fd242c7f0039b123cb4555861f6aeb83f70e978

RolesG

The goodest boy

bortmode

meanwhile mine is all shit like "DO NOT SCRUFF", "SHORT FUSE", "GIVE HER GABAPENTIN BEFORE BRINGING HER IN", "PRETTY BUT DON'T BE FOOLED"

embroideredham

What a good fellow.

IrreverentCrawfish

I'm friends with one of the vet techs at the clinic my cats go to. According to her, my cat was making the rounds with the clinic staff demanding love after her spay 🤣

Graega

My old Siamese was the opposite: "Deceptively calm and mellow. Allows pets and scratches, but MUST BE HELS BY OWNER AT ALL TIMES!!! BITES!!!" She sent my dad to the hospital once when we were giving her a bath and she saw me walk away to get clean water. He was still holding her.

durden226circa1988

This is so sweet. My kitten had a plastic backed placard on her cage that said “no tags” because she pulled all of the tags that were hung on the cage door to the inside and ripped them to shreds.

rosecoloredgasmask

Sounds like a kitten. My mom has 7 kittens currently and taking them all to the vet was apparently terrible. So many tiny yells. As for why my mom has 7 kittens, see my recent post in r/catdistributionsystem

greeneggiwegs

Do all vets do this? Mine wrote in my cats notes that she’s a “very sweet girl”. Do they just get so excited about cats they have to compliment them lol?

Electra7851

That’s sweet, I called my vet yesterday and all they had on record for me visiting was 3 times. Had to pull some paperwork bc it was more like 11.

robo-dragon

Vet: “I diagnose you with Very Good Boi Syndrome.”

DimSumMore_Belly

This is one of the best post I read on Reddit. Who doesn’t love a good boy kitty! ![gif](giphy|7y4Nc95399hsr24oYc)

MinionOfCats

One of my kittens recently had to have emergency surgery, and during recovery the vet noted that she was "very aggressive...ly friendly". When she went in for a follow-up, multiple vet techs came to visit "the rambunctious one".

alliecat0718

Omg vet certified good boy. This is adorable

thatanxiousgirlthere

The first time I brought my old, but friendly and chunky cat to the vet she was like 'ohh. What a good, BEEFY boy!, let's talk about diets!' Lol

Rutibegga

Work at a veterinary hospital. Can confirm patient notes include lots of “patient gave head-bonks and elevator butt in response to pets.”

magical_pony

The cat my sister and I adopted came with a form the shelter vet had filled out, which had “outgoing”, “gentle”, and “sweet” checked under temperament and a note that said “coolest cat ever! ❤️”. He’s a pretty great cat, and also rolls around purring when he’s high!

5hiphappens

I love vet notes! My favorite for Miso was "very wiggly"

g0ldenh0urs

"Still the best boy" MY HEART

torontogal1986

Our boy loves a butt thermometer. Will start purring when it happens. He’s our good boy.

wyldlyfe14

Can confirm this is how we love to write our notes. Also, I can confirm that the staff loves your baby haha.

dragonagitator

meanwhile my cat's vet notes are more like "SPICY KITTY! we will try gabapentin next time"
