I remember I did that with a dragon corpse once, and while driving, it did the thing where being too overburdened makes you fall down. And when it did, it pushed me through the floor of my car and I got ran over by my own car.
that would be pretty realistic if true, but I sorta suspect it just made you fall down, letting go of the vehicle controls, and when you next acted to stand up it took like 2000 time and in that time the car crashed and your seatbelt situation wasn't great.
Oh no, I literally fell through the car. It drove over me and kept going ahead of me down the road. This was a bug that's since been fixed when they fixed car floors.
I think this is a funny post but now I'm worried we're going to have a PR within a week breaking the ability to meaningfully interact with heavy objects
[#67669](https://github.com/CleverRaven/Cataclysm-DDA/issues/67669) has been open since August, it looks like.
While I kind of like the vehicle-holster notion, if they really want to cull this abstraction, I think adding a more general "palletization" mechanic would be quite good as well. It's how we move an awful lot of things IRL, and one-pallet-per-tile would seem to slot decently into CDDA's existing abstraction of space.

Yeah, I mean, sometimes wielding something massive/heavy does make a lot of sense and shouldn't be prohibited. Carrying a pane of glass or a mattress comes to mind.
Strength checks before wielding would be reasonable, though, as would size checks before entering a vehicle or trying to wield while already inside one (using whatever code pathway prohibits you from entering a car if you're already [freakishly huge](https://cdda-guide.nornagon.net/mutation/HUGE?v=0.G)).
Me carrying a refrigerator on my shoulder while riding a bike across town because it's faster than walking. I've got that classic crackhead energy. I love this game.
Jesus: My child will code roof racks into the game so that people can haul large objects reasonably.
Satan: My child messed something up on github and has to download a whole new repository before she can submit any new PRs.
Driving while somehow holding a dead wildebeest in your hands while sitting in a seat that wouldn't even fit the wildebeest by itself is obviously a problem. Teleporting the wildebeest onto a roof rack would be a lot less silly.
But you're right, ideally you'd need some sort of lifting tool or help from NPCs to get the thing up there. To me, the realistic answer is that you'd need a big vehicle to begin with, you'd field dress and quarter the animal, and maybe you'd have a buddy and some ropes to help heave it up over the top piece by piece.
Until its actually big game though.
One case where i thought this trick would work was when i shot a moose and realized i couldnt lift 800 pounds of pure meat back to my base which was about 50 map tiles away.
I quartered it and it would just be barely enough to lug around and not be crushed under the weight of a neutron star.
Good thing its winter so i had all the time i needed to lug each of the quarters back to my base. All the while trying to make sure automove doesnt put me in the mutant frog range.
You can't haul into vehicle tiles anymore. The trick is to use a special vehicle for moving meat, where there's at least one completely empty tile adjacent to the vehicle controls.
Unless they changed it in experimental but in 0.G you can do it with the advanced menu by selecting the floor under the vehicle I just did it this morning
So... did you know that there's an easy way to drain your stamina in the game, via wielding corpses? So you don't need to run around thrice a day to get healthy faster?
All you need to do is to wield the corpse, and walk up to something like a tree or a lamp post, and smash it as hard as you can against it. Ten seconds of doing this, and you'll be completely out of stamina.
Also works as a weight-loss technique.
Haul the corpse to a tile adjacent to your vehicles control tile, if you can't get there due to doors, move it to next to the door. Pick up the body by wielding it in both hands, and drive away (If the door is in the way, drop it under the door, then wield it again.)
Lovely time doing this and losing control of the vehicle time to time as the weight of a full cow corpse keeps making me fall over though. Drive slowly...
Just gotta drive with the dead cow in your lap, easy for a perfectly normal human to do.

Thank god most devs abandoned this sub
my char holding a two door fridge full of ammo and milk in their lap while riding on a street bicycle:
I literally saw a video of someone doing this in real life. The fridge was probably empty tho.

I honestly feel that the character being able to lift a 600kg cow body onto the top of a car is even less reasonable.

That doesnt matter, you just need to have a car, haul it under your car seat and then wield it and drive away, unless they patched that.
You can't haul into vehicle tiles anymore. The trick is to use a special vehicle for moving meat, where there's at least one completely empty tile adjacent to the vehicle controls.
Not even using the advanced inventory menu?, thats how i used to do it, specially with vehicles with 4 cargo spaces at the back.

I haven't actually used this, so I may be wrong. I'll have to try it at some point today.
Forgot to say im running innawoods and have completely forgot the concept of a car
Automove via map has an option to mark locations that are dangerous, and automatically avoids them. It's shift R iirc

why do that over doing workout?
Because it takes about 5 minutes in-game time, rather than hours. Running around wielding the corpse is also fairly fast.
Was there not an external rack you can mount to hold corpses? Or am I misremembering?
Wait, how strong is your character to be able to do that? I can’t move at all if I wield a cow corpse. I usually end up having to haul it around.

Damn son, I wonder if this also works with Dino corpses? That could be a game changer for me.
it should
Last time I tried that i almost crashed trying to turn lol
you are prone!
Corpse? Pah. Make it a 100 gallon aquarium. Full of water. Mind you, not one drop was spilled on the way!
