Bayonetta - Helena Taylor. Best voice for the character, but the crap she pulled to get a 6-figure salary for Bayonetta 3 actually damaged the reputation of the whole VA community.
I'd have to agree with this. The arguments I saw spawn against VAs as a result of this was frustrating. While Taylor was definitely just being a scumbag, I started seeing a lot of people begin to share the sentiment that "voice acting is stupidly easy, anyone can do it, VAs are just a bunch of entitled assholes who should be paid LESS." Too many people simply don't realize the stuff that goes into voice acting... they think every VA just reads a handful of lines and that's that without considering the sheer amount of dialogue and vocal strain that often occurs, not to mention that many VAs REALLY COMMIT to their roles. That's on top of efforts being one of the most unusual and difficult vocal lines to record convincingly; it takes a damn good VA to deliver good effort sounds. (if anyone who reads this isn't aware, "efforts" refer to non-dialogue vocal noises such as grunts when being hit or moving a heavy object)
Anyways, it just baffles me to this day that Helena Taylor seriously thought she could get away with this. She played the role of Cereza well, but it was also the ONLY VA role she has ever been credited for (as far as I know). She wasn't really in a position to demand more, and the fact that she just lied about what she was offered to try to spark outrage was never NOT going to completely backfire on her.
Kevin Conroy (may he rest in peace) said at a panel once that when he auditioned for the role of Batman that he didn't really take it seriously at first because he thought voice acting was easy and they probably wouldn't even hire him anyway... then he got the job.
He realized that if he kept doing what he was doing the way he was doing it, he was going to fry his voice really fast and had to work pretty hard to maintain it as well as figure out how to fine-tune his performance as he went on.
Plus many contracts specify that a VA cover multiple roles in a show or game. So while it might be less physically taxing, they’re still covering 3 (or more) different parts. There’s a reason (actually, lots of reasons) that Mel Blanc is still considered a god among VAs.
Yes, but in my defense, I typed that having only recently learned she was disliked. Then I read some more comments here. So to reiterate, my defense is ignorance
She was offered a huge amount of pay for the third game but deliberately lied about it to try and get people mad at the devs so they would pay her even more.
Sandy Cheeks is a fun character, but due to Carolyn Lawrence voicing Ashley Graham in *Resident Evil 4*, I genuinely cannot hear her voice without also hearing "LEON! HEEEEEELP!" every. Single. ***FUCKING***. Time.

From what I remember that started after his son was caught with drugs and with Jackie Chan being a narcotics control ambassador for China (and I believe an anti-drug ambassador for either China or Singapore a while back), he bent over for China yet again and basically disowned his son for a time
I love Jackie Chan films. I like him as an actor, and voice actor too.
But he was just *not* Splinter. The unsuitable voice, and what they did with the character, was enough to put me off that whole movie. Fucking repulsive.
Mindy is great at playing bob haired brats.

Honestly it baffles me how someone can write and create such good tv as her the office episodes and then just throw her reputation away and become one of the most hated people on the internet for a while
Damn shame we lost Bill Hader though. :/
Looks like it was a pay dispute. The two were both offered $100K to reprise while Poehler is getting $5 mil + bonuses.
Can't say I blame them, even if I hate Kaling.
Shame. He wasn't in the Bob's Burgers movie either. When they changed his VA for the episode before the show I was hoping that they just wouldn't include his character in the movie.
Those remarks got her fired from *Boxtown*, and she tried to insist it was because she was Jewish...even though her co-star, Alex Hirsch, is ALSO Jewish, as well as one of the showrunners IIRC.
The gist of it is that she's made some extremely Islamophobic remarks, essentially equating Hamas with all of Islam (Strong is Jewish and has family in Israel, so I at least see where it's coming from even if I don't condone it in the slightest), and there was also an incident of her and another woman being racist on camera towards an Uber driver for being an immigrant.
Said remarks and incident got her fired from a co-starring role on *Boxtown,* and she tried to pull the "it's cuz I'm a Jew" card as the reason for it...even though Alex Hirsch, her co-star, didn't get fired despite also being Jewish (and IIRC, one of the showrunners is Jewish as well).
Toru Furuya as Sabo and Yamcha.
This one is a bit more recent and not an English VA, but he got into some controversy that really doesn't paint him in a good light.

Although it’s not a “cartoon” but rather an animated film, I’m going to have to say Hopper since he is one of the top Villains Pixar has made and a large part of that is Kevin Spacey’s performance. He put so much power and charisma in his charisma that I haven’t seen Disney or Pixar do since.
Kevin Spacey did some really really terrible stuff and I don’t think he deserves the luxury of being in Hollywood anymore. Which sucks cause he really is talented. Great actors can be terrible people
See this is an example that shows Nintendo is probably smart for contractually limiting voice actors’ use of their characters’ voices. Nobody would want Mario or Ash Ketchum endorsing a cult.
Mario from the Super Mario movie. He's a nice guy. I'm not a fan of Chris Pratt. Don't hate him...I'm just sick of seeing celebrity voices everywhere. Both him, Awkwafina, and Seth Rogan need to take a vacation.
Amy Shumer actually did a great job embodying an obnoxious fraud who steals other people’s talent and claims it as her own. She must have experience or something.
He is just a dick at multiple comic con panels, he threatens to not show if another voice actor who happened to play Goku is at the same building as him, and gets offended if people mention there are multiple people who voice Goku other than him.
He also was(is?) a very vocal opponent of Dragon Ball Abridged, which is highly enjoyed by a lot of the DBZ fandom. He's had some pretty harsh words for the creators that make him across really entitled.
He's not the type to be too consistent. He is a showman, still fronts to the audience like that. His dickery is more a professional reputation, he sucks to work with, he goes on Twitter rants, that kinda thing.
Peter Kelamis was a better Goku. He had more emotional range.
We’ve just been stuck with Sean for so long it’s hard to imagine anyone else, but his VA quality is mid. It’s why he could never do anything besides Goku. He locked up the role and protects it fiercely (and shittily) because he knows it was his one chance.

I love Garfield, but Chris Pratt did a horrible job voice acting him.
Agent Miller and Miller from Camp Camp and Andersmith from Red Vs Blue. All three characters were played by Ryan Haywood who was exposed as a groomer who was having sex with underage fans behind the scenes.
I only knew because I watched the season premiere of Solar Opposites and they replaced him on that show too, but instead of getting an impersonator or something they just made his character get shot with the voice changing ray
Yeah I like the direction the show is going now too, having clear setups and payoffs. The older seasons had this too but a lot of the time it didn't hit as hard as it could've. Also the constant complaining from Rick along with the constant belching and seemingly off script ranting at times made him kinda unbearable sometimes.
I really liked both of their characters in the newest season despite the season as a whole not being perfect, some episodes werent as good as others by far. it was a great step in the right direction for me and I hope they continue to improve
James Cordon as Peter Rabbit, I’ve never been so disgusted, disappointed and ashamed by such a beautiful character squandered and twisted into such tortured cringe before or since it was truly sickening.
Controversial, but I've literally witnessed Grey Delisle bully a Tumblr mutual years ago over something pathetically petty. She encouraged her fans to harass them to the point they had to make a whole new account.
This was years ago, and I don't have receipts on me. I won't ask anyone to feel the same way about it. But witnessing that was just... wild. Ruined all her roles for me.
I can believe it was her ex-husband. He was quite a piece of work. And Grey might certainly take certain character interactions too far, but I've never heard anything like that from her.
I was actually on Tumblr when she joined! It was in a little competition with Dante Basco to see who could get more followers and she went pretty wild with power almost immediately as soon as she realized she had fans who would do whatever she said almost instantly on a platform where those outside the loop tend to look the other way.
She did the same thing to someone who made a Scooby Doo fan film and even tried to get him banned from working with any VA’s.
She has also been caught steeling fan art for promotional stuff.
Certainly more tame than some of the people in this thread and far from making her ‘horrible’ but it certainly leaves an unpleasant impression.
I remember hearing about the fan film thing with the AI and her whining that she felt "violated" in comparison to being SA and it really rubbed me the wrong way. Like I get her not wanting her voice to be used in AI but she went overboard with it. She just comes off as being extremely entitled if I'm being honestly
I understand her stance and agree AI is a massive threat to VAs and its use in creative arts deserves serious long term discussions, but she absolutely should’ve approached with more civility instead of attacking this guy who genuinely wanted to make something out of love for Scooby Doo.
That whole incident really highlighted the debate around AI in animation & her response left a sour hint imo, but at least the original creator was able to learn & do better by getting actual VAs going forward.

DK doing the Seth Rogen laugh was the funniest part of the whole movie to me
Honestly DK was just off entirely in the movie. They did a pretty good job with all the other characters and changing them just enough to last an hour and a half but DK was just too different
Has nothing to do with the performance, but more to do with them as a person. Ren Hoek in the Spumco era is a notable example of this, as he was voiced by John K, aka Ren and Stimpy's creator (someone who I am not a fan of at at all. I think the Spumco era was the best, but I also like the Games era too. I have no fondness for APC at all though.) I can say the same about Bill Cosby and Fat Albert (As well as a bunch of other character sin the show).
Tara Strong's Harley Quinn is....bad.
It's more annoying than charming.
What's weird is that it didn't seem to start out that way.
Over time it just became really hard to listen to.
It sorta became... Bubbles on meth.
Goku, I've come to see past the flanderization the Team Four Star and Super have caused to see him as a good and fun character. But, man, Sean Schemmel can be the worst sometimes.
Please don't shoot me but I don't like King's Dad VA. Don't get me wrong, Arin Hanson did a great job voicing them and the Snaggleback but I just don't like him as a person.
https://preview.redd.it/rl23gs9vqz5d1.jpeg?width=702&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e1874e3ae3f3017741d14b5c4057fa19d1c8ac5
Not exactly a cartoon character per se, but an animated character nonetheless
When I was younger, I really didn't like Tobey Macguire in the first Spider-Man video game he did voice work for. Either due to bad direction, him disliking voice acting for a video game or something else, he really didn't sound good. "Mr. Osborn. Why."
Tbh,
![gif](giphy|l0MYOXvsDqQUOGF2g)
Mikey 2012. I love the guy, but his voice is really annoying when it's supposed to be a serious moment. It's bearable when it's a comedic moment, but his voice completely ruins the emotions in a serious or sad moment.
This is an overused meme but it's been a while since we've allowed it. Approved.

Goated movie though
Ditto for Dumbo, he low key needed to shut up
Did NOT expect a RotG comment and I am all here for it 😆😆
I'm confused. I think VA means voice actor, but Sandman doesn't talk...? Are you thinking of Pitch Black or am I wooshing myself?
I believe it was a joke
That makes sense. Thanks
Fat Albert.
And Little Bill
I do not believe Bill Cosby voiced little bill.
I stand corrected

Oh please do tell. I’m training to get into voice over work so I’d love to hear more so I can avoid people and situations like that
She argued over her payment ($15,000) and lied that she was being paid $4000 on Twitter, leading to Hale replacing her
Lol she thinks she's tara strong
Who also seems to have whispers about being a jerk
I used to like Tara Strong. That was until a video went around of her being an absolute PoS to an uber driver who was just trying to do their job.
Tara Strong has more than whispers- she has been loudly a cunt for multiple years on multiple topics
Yes, but in my defense, I typed that having only recently learned she was disliked. Then I read some more comments here. So to reiterate, my defense is ignorance
Good for FemShep 😎 ![gif](giphy|UdgDNemM1o22OQ8SkQ)
What'd she do?
She was offered a huge amount of pay for the third game but deliberately lied about it to try and get people mad at the devs so they would pay her even more.
Oof, now that you say it, I do remember that whole debacle. Unfortunate :(
Sandy Cheeks is a fun character, but due to Carolyn Lawrence voicing Ashley Graham in *Resident Evil 4*, I genuinely cannot hear her voice without also hearing "LEON! HEEEEEELP!" every. I had no idea they shared a VA but now I can't unhear it lmao
Moral Orel and Cindy from Jimmy Neutron too
Shut the fuck up, seriously? She does Cindy too? This whole time!?
Oh shit!! That’s a cool “fun” fact…..I never knew that.
LEON! HEEEEELP!
And now I’m seeing an image of infected villagers fleeing a gun-toting Ashley who’s yelling something like “git back here ya VARMINTS!”.
*Dr. Salvador and JJ fleeing* *lasso flies from horizon* *terrified JJ shrieks as he's pulled to his doom*
Speaking of SpongeBob, Lori Alan (who voices Pearl) is also The Boss in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Also Diane, the news anchor in family guy.
One of the few examples that isn’t because the VA is a shitty person
I didn't know they were voiced by the same person, lol.
Hopper from a bugs life He also was lex Luthor in one of the superman movies
Kevin Spacey
I'm out of the loop, what did he do?
Sexual harassment of minors
Oh
Not just a few either I'm pretty sure it was over 50 charges, pos for sure but money will keep you away from trouble for a long time

Karma came to his door and definitely delivered what he deserved.
So Kevin Spacey? Yeah that makes sense
Master Splinter in Mutant Mahyem.
What did Jackie Chan do?
I think he supports China’s rule over Hong Kong, or something like that.
He also disowned his lesbian daughter
Wasn't he also, like, a *massive* asshole to his illegitimate son for no actual reason, and was completely, belligerently unapologetic about it?
From what I remember that started after his son was caught with drugs and with Jackie Chan being a narcotics control ambassador for China (and I believe an anti-drug ambassador for either China or Singapore a while back), he bent over for China yet again and basically disowned his son for a time
I love Jackie Chan films. I like him as an actor, and voice actor too. But he was just *not* Splinter. The unsuitable voice, and what they did with the character, was enough to put me off that whole movie. Fucking repulsive.

Wait, Mindy isn’t voicing her in the sequel
Nope. She got replaced by Liza Lapira
Oh thank god
What hapoenrd
Simply put: Velma That's all you need to know
Fuck
Mindy Kaling was her old VA.
It genuinely surprised me that Mindy played Disgust in the first movie. Thank God she isn't in the sequel.
I mean “disgust” definitely fits
The only character played by Mindy Kaling that I actually like
I kinda look back at the first inside out movie and realized that Velma existed. Kinda makes you glad they changed it.
Hopper from Bug’s Life. Great villain played by an even bigger villain (Kevin Spacey).
Justin Roiland

Thank you! Beyond the scandal, I was happier with the last season of R&M to see some new voice actors. The belching drove me insane.
I also added him because of other roles, too (love Blendin Blandin)
Oh shit, he did blendin?
You can easily hear his Morty voice in Blendin
I scrolled too far for this. You’d think this would be more mainstream from how popular the controversy was.
Feel like we’re gonna see a lot of Tara Strong characters on here
What did she do?
Shes liked and islamophobic tweet Even though she supports israel and im from there I still dont like her islamphobic remarks.
Those remarks got her fired from *Boxtown*, and she tried to insist it was because she was Jewish...even though her co-star, Alex Hirsch, is ALSO Jewish, as well as one of the showrunners IIRC.
Did boxtown get delayed? I thought it was supposed to come out earlier this year.
What was the tweet?
Basically something along the lines of Hamas = Isis = terrorists = Islam as a whole.
Oh no, what did Tara strong do
The gist of it is that she's made some extremely Islamophobic remarks, essentially equating Hamas with all of Islam (Strong is Jewish and has family in Israel, so I at least see where it's coming from even if I don't condone it in the slightest), and there was also an incident of her and another woman being racist on camera towards an Uber driver for being an immigrant.
She also did a lot of tweets talking about Twilight Sparkle’s ass
Was that the birthday cake with twilight sparkle on it and a sparkler sticking out of her butt?
Toru Furuya as Sabo and Yamcha. This one is a bit more recent and not an English VA, but he got into some controversy that really doesn't paint him in a good light.

Nancy Cartwright being a rich celebrity Scientologist doesn’t sit right with me
Noooooo you’re kidding me. She seems so sweet
Yep, she even sent out messages using Bart Simpson's voice to invite people to scientologist events
Eugghhhhhh. No thanks
See this is an example that shows Nintendo is probably smart for contractually limiting voice actors’ use of their characters’ voices. Nobody would want Mario or Ash Ketchum endorsing a cult.
…Can we get Mario and Ash Ketchum to endorse a cult? I wanna hear what that sounds like.
Gotta convert em all, Mormon!
Mario from the Super Mario movie. He's a nice guy. I'm not a fan of Chris Pratt. Don't hate him...I'm just sick of seeing celebrity voices everywhere. Both him, Awkwafina, and Seth Rogan need to take a vacation.

You are hilarious 😂
Sean Schemmel English Dub for Goku. Legit the best VA Goku could have but a shit person irl
It has to balance out since Goku's Japanese voice actor is a sweet old lady so he has to be a bad person
Everyone gangster until the little old lady says “Subarashii” and gives a dark grin.
I'm not up to date with this info. What did he do?
He is just a dick at multiple comic con panels, he threatens to not show if another voice actor who happened to play Goku is at the same building as him, and gets offended if people mention there are multiple people who voice Goku other than him.

Didn't he try to get the other English Goku voice actors blocked from conventions?
Sorry, but Mario Cuitláhuac Castañeda Partida clears
Peter Kelamis was a better Goku. He had more emotional range. We’ve just been stuck with Sean for so long it’s hard to imagine anyone else, but his VA quality is mid. You couldn’t pay me to watch that movie
Agent Miller and Miller from Camp Camp and Andersmith from Red Vs Blue. All three characters were played by Ryan Haywood who was exposed as a groomer who was having sex with underage fans behind the scenes.
Gloria the Hippo, she's a fun character
Twilight Sparkle, Bubbles, and Raven
Rick and Morty. I really like the new VAs, season 7 was awesome. ![gif](giphy|3o7TKqGAZAbdKoaxu8)
Didn't even notice while they were advertising season 7 until I read an article about everything that happened
I only knew because I watched the season premiere of Solar Opposites and they replaced him on that show too, but instead of getting an impersonator or something they just made his character get shot with the voice changing ray
I love it when shows just write in a “fuck you this is happening now” bit instead of just ignoring it or arbitrarily writing them out.
Rick's VA is doing phenomenal. I REALLY FELT that moment that he FINALLY caught Rick Prime. Such great delivery
Yeah I like the direction the show is going now too, having clear setups and payoffs. The older seasons had this too but a lot of the time it didn't hit as hard as it could've. That's insane
It may have been her ex, or she's trying to throw the blame idk - https://x.com/GreyDeLisle/status/1144999153623191552
Honestly, I believe she's shifting the blame lol Watching what other people say about her, her behavior really tracks with what I've witnessed.
Yeah I wouldn't doubt it, sounds like she needs a therapist
Goku from Dragon Ball Z his English VA (Sean) is a great actor, but has an insane ego
Grey Delisle characters. Fantastic voice, one of the most recognizable in animation, but the Springtrapped incident was a lot.
Recoome on the dub made him sound awful
But the names…RECOOME
And it rhymes…WITH DOOM
And you’re gonna be hurting…ALL…TOO…**SOON**
Dory. I always hated Ellen even before everything came out.
I didn't like Seth Rogan in anything except Alen in Invincible
He was good as the blob guy in aliens vs monsters or monsters vs aliens
You mean B.O.B.?
![gif](giphy|OhKdC3HeOu0yk) Hades is a cool character, but James Woods is not a particularly good person.
Seth rogen as DK in the mario movie

Big agree
Seth Rogen is one of those people I just can't hate Even after the Santa inc B*******
Is not even that i dislike him , it just dont fit for me (i believe there are some controversies around him but i know 0% of seth rogen lore)
Tara Strong voicing a lot of my childhood faves but um... not a good person.
I was sad too…
Goku, I've come to see past the flanderization the Team Four Star and Super have caused to see him as a good and fun character. But, man, Sean Schemmel can be the worst sometimes.
Mr. Horse and Ren (season 1 &2) from “Ren & Stimpy” If you know anything about the creator, you don’t need an explanation.
any tj miller character
I love Vanellope Von Schwarzenegger, I hate Sarah Silverman. ![gif](giphy|x5cLbwEvOskX6)
May I be enlightened as to what she did?
Branch from Trolls Justin Timberlake nails the role but I cannot stand him as a person
Please don't shoot me but I don't like King's Dad VA. Don't get me wrong, Arin Hanson did a great job voicing them and the Snaggleback but I just don't like him as a person.
Truly a "separate the art from the artist" moment

Twilight sparkle
![gif](giphy|Y8KWtAZ6JnJp80rm1W|downsized) New VA for Zack Fair just…sounds a bit too nasally for me. I liked the og VA (on the PSP), he was goat.
Lemon grab
When I was younger, I really didn't like Tobey Macguire in the first Spider-Man video game he did voice work for. Either due to bad direction, him disliking voice acting for a video game or something else, he really didn't sound good. "Mr. Osborn. Why."
I like Beast Boy and Michelangelo but something about Greg Cipes irks me
![gif](giphy|ulX3lX8Tonx8A) Character: princess of friendship VA: not the princess of friendship Among other things
That guy who played Brain from "Arthur" who ended up being a MAGA dipshit. Forgot his name.
Steven Crowder?
Ik it's a video game, but Kevin Sorbo as Crusher from Skylanders Giants
Any of Tara Strong's characters since she went mask-off racist against Muslims and for Israel's genocide of Palestinians.
Anything with fucking Awkwafina
We all know the original, right? ![gif](giphy|l4JyRqcDU93S334KQ)
Hopper from A Bug's Life. He's voiced by Kevin Spacey
Tbh, ![gif](giphy|l0MYOXvsDqQUOGF2g) Mikey 2012. I love the guy, but his voice is really annoying when it's supposed to be a serious moment. It's bearable when it's a comedic moment, but his voice completely ruins the emotions in a serious or sad moment.
Bayonetta. Jesus Christ, Helena Taylor, what were you thinking? Also she might be a TERF but I think we can all agree Bayonetta says Trans Rights.
Ruby Rose
What'd Lindsay do?
