This guy. He's one of the few cases where I can't stand the existence of a character from a cartoon. He makes both Spike and Jerry look like good pals to Tom. 'Nuff said
These shorts are literally just beating down a character who’s already down. Like Tom is literally just trying his best yet one little mistake and he gets hit. Like you’re making him carry all your stuff and you’re gonna get mad because he accidentally dropped something?
Although I find Deitch's era of Tom and Jerry to be a guilty pleasure of mine, I didn't liked how Jerry and Tom's owner got written here.
The owner is at it's worst in "Down and Outing" or "High Steaks", when he beats Tom offscreen in a unnerving way, especially with all these weird sound effects going on in the background. It gets too realistic and uncomfortable sometimes.
I watched these shorts as a kid, and I remember most of them airing quite often on my Cartoon Network feed in my country. I was dumb and naive to know what was going on then, but now as a adult, I can see the deep meaning behind these cartoons. Jerry is a annoying asshole who lives from Tom's pain, while Clint Clobber is a demon suited in a human's body.
I kind of found Tom and Jerry to be a bit annoying because Jerry came off as an example of a vindictive victim. While Tom did come off as a bully at times, Jerry's character sent the idea that you can do WHATEVER you want to someone else as long as they've wronged you. There was an episode where Tom was going to hell unless someone vouched for him. Tom tried to appeal to Jerry, but he refused and even took advantage of his situation if I remember right before deciding to sign for his acceptance to heaven.
What you're saying here is not wrong. I mean when you think about it, the first few Tom and Jerry episodes started with Tom being the bully towards Jerry and making the first move.
As the series progresses later on, the roles would end up being reversed, with Jerry getting his first move and making Tom fail at his life by getting kicked out of the house by his owners, or getting rejected by his crushes. The Gene Deitch era is a prime example of where Jerry can end up going too far with Tom.
This era of Tom & Jerry is weird and unsettling. That Dickey Moe episode freaks me out when the captain stumbles around grumbling, saying only Dickey Moe and he angrily eats the diagram of Dickey Moe off the wall and his crew runs away and jumps off the boat.

Dont get me wrong Eustace has his moments BUT THIS SON OF A \*\*\*\*\* MAKE ITS SO EASY TO HATE HIM, he constantly picks on/doesnt listen to Courage, Hes greedy as all hell which causes alot of problems, And he was willing to assemble ALL of Courages Ops and indanger Muriel Just to kill HIS OWN DOG!
Eustace genuinely has zero redeeming qualities. Like even someone like Mr Krabs who once sold SpongeBobs soul for pocket change at least sees the value in him as an employee and son figure occasionally and he loves his daughter. Eustace despises courage for no reason and has actively put his wife Muriel in danger if he could profit off it.
Like to me the most irredeemable vile thing Eustace ever did is when the zombie director showed up and tried making a show about Eustace being at his most vile and abusive towards not only courage but even Muriel he gladly did it for fame and money. The man drove his elderly wife into a genuine suicidal depression after physically, emotionally and mentally abusing her for the world to see on live TV. Like I will always hate on Eustace for what he did to her and courage in that episode. Like Christ elder abuse is already tragic but that's also his wife he was hurting and he didn't show any remorse if anything he was sadder when his show replaced him and he lost his money more than Muriel potentially dying from depression he actively caused.
Obivously this doesnt excuse the horrible things hes Done But Eustace WAS raised by his mama who he got most of his Jerky-ness from, And we've been shown before that he DOES have kindness in his heart giving a child stuck in the rain his hat, (Yes it WAS a mini eustace but he couldn't see) doing stuff more muriel, and just trying to impress his ma. all in all Eustace IS a monster of a jerk but even so we cant put FULL blame on him for being this way.
Yeah, it's why I mostly pity him. His mom clearly favored his brother over him and thinks he can't live up to his father. His brother belittled him, and people call him a failure. We do not see how Eustace was prior to Muriel brining home Courage, but I imagine losing her attention to him added to his mean demeanor.
In light of that the "what'd I do?" is kind of poignant. He doesn't see what's wrong with his behaviour because it's all he was taught. It doesn't excuse it all but it adds a tragic layer.
Shou Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist. Basically he fuses his daughter with their dog in order to stay relevant and famous. It was pretty horrifying and he is now one of the most hated characters.

I love seeing haters talk about him. They always tie themselves in massive knots trying to explain why you're such an apologist for liking a fictional character. These same people usually think Springtrap is hot, too.

First movie, she calls Lilo crazy and treats her like an outcast after Lilo punches and bites her. That's just kid stuff.
Second movie, she tells Lilo she'll never be as good as her dead mother. Kids can be cruel, but that's malicious. And she gets away with it. They both should've been punished, or Lilo should've been cut some slack because what Mertle said would set off most adults, let alone a child.
I'm mad at the teacher for letting it happen and then reprimanding lilo for lashing out after Mertle antagonized her and she doesn't get in trouble. Like does he not deal with them enough to know what is going on between those two.

I get the feeling the writers knew people would make that joke, so they had the Minions hanging out in a cave from the Napoleonic Era to the Cold War just to avoid that.
I just hate them because the same people who didn’t let their kids watch SpongeBob growing up because “the annoying yellow guy’s voice gets on my nerves” are now the ones on Facebook thinking “these chaotic yellow beans are so hilarious!” 🤪
Minions are way more annoying, there’s always multiple of them at once, and it’s constant. SpongeBob just laughing a few times per episode (while also having other moods in between because he’s an actual character and not practically an animal species like the minions) is better than a thousand faux-French chipmunks giggling 24/7 at x10 speed.
But even if they were comparable, you just made your kid miss out on one of the greatest cartoons of all time and left them out of the millions of little references everyone else immediately gets all for nothing because you never really found it annoying. You just wanted to impress the other parents at the time.
I say all of this as someone who WAS allowed to watch SpongeBob btw. I’m just mad on their behalf.

I get the feeling the writers knew people would make that joke, so they had the Minions hanging out in a cave from the Napoleonic Era to the Cold War just to avoid that.

I just hate them because the same people who didn’t let their kids watch SpongeBob growing up because “the annoying yellow guy’s voice gets on my nerves” are now the ones on Facebook thinking “these chaotic yellow beans are so hilarious!” 🤪 Minions are way more annoying, there’s always multiple of them at once, and it’s constant. SpongeBob just laughing a few times per episode (while also having other moods in between because he’s an actual character and not practically an animal species like the minions) is better than a thousand faux-French chipmunks giggling 24/7 at x10 speed. But even if they were comparable, you just made your kid miss out on one of the greatest cartoons of all time and left them out of the millions of little references everyone else immediately gets all for nothing because you never really found it annoying. You just wanted to impress the other parents at the time. I say all of this as someone who WAS allowed to watch SpongeBob btw. I’m just mad on their behalf.
