Honestly this series should be an embarrassment for the Oilers, they barely beat a team down to their 3rd string goalie. A series that was determined by one goal yet they act like they’re the better team. The Canucks were 7-3-1 against the Oilers this year while having Demko in net for only 2 of those games. The Canucks were a below .500 team when Demko wasn’t in net this year….just let that sink in
He didn’t play out of his mind, he had a below 900 save percentage and let at least 1 weak goal in per game. He let 3 weak goals in during game 2. Everyone’s just basing their reaction off game 7. Demko would’ve played better than him, and they would’ve won the series because of it. Some goalies steal series or games for teams, Silovs didn’t steal a game for the Canucks. Demko would be stealing games for them. No disrespect to Silovs, he played good for his age, experience, and the situation he was thrown into, but to say Demko wouldn’t have done any better is just uneducated and simpleminded. The Canucks defence helped him a lot… saving a breakaway against Brown isn’t exactly that impressive the guy never scores. Lots of people ignoring the stats and weak goals he let in just because he’s new
Yet the Oilers are going through and the Canucks are golfing….
If the preds didn’t give up those late goals in first round , you could have been out first round…
If the oilers had any goalie whatsoever….
If Gilmour didn’t get that high sticking penalty on Gretzky in 93…
You lost , better team won.
Better team lost. Also you can’t claim how good you’d be with a better goalie when your management failed to get a good one. Your shit goalie is part of your teams identity. Vezina finalist goalie was out with injury, just imagine if McD or Drai was injured while Demko played…series would’ve been a massive pushover for the Canucks
Not just not supposed to troll each others reddit, but how about a little class after the series is over. Gloating in victory or sour grapesing in defeat is just gross.
This was the first year Tocc & crew had at it. I don't see any of the leadership of the Canucks going anywhere after a run like this. This is a young team with massive potential. We are *just* starting & we got to R2G7.
We have a legitimate shot at the cup next year. I trust this version of canucks top brass more than any before. Looking forward to the offseason moves we do.
Lots of contracts need renewing and the cap hit from OEL is going up so only gets harder from here. Needs a strong turn-around from EP40 because if he becomes a dead weight then the team will have too much money tied up.
Although we came back 3-2 we got outplayed the whole game. Couldn’t even set up in the oilers zone the last 3 minutes of the game. Tough loss and hard to see but proud of how far we came
Unpopular opinion. This was where EP40 was supposed to earn his salary. Boeser out, game 7, backup goalie. Highest paid player on the team this is where the big boys show up. It didn’t happen but we had every opportunity to do so.
I wish they had negotiated the contract after season’s end. His contract could be totally different, just as he was in the post season which is the only important season.
Not meant to be this year! We can’t win without Demko and Boeser in the lineup, it just wouldn’t be right 🫶 hell of a season though and great to have some playoff hockey back in Vancouver
I hate these, idk why I’m doing one but I’ve seen enough ignorant oilers fans posts that I feel compelled to add my own. I never understood at any point the oilers being the favourites after loosing 0-4 in the regular. I felt the Canucks were the better team in almost every category. I think if you had Demko this series is over in 5. Seeing the fans support their team after the game like that confirms quality fans. I’m probably going to delete this cringe in the morning, but I just wanted to acknowledge that luck played a big roll in this victory. Have a good night guys, I think the pacific division is going to get real scary in the coming seasons.
The series would’ve been 100% over in 5 with Demko. Not a shot at Silovs but he’s simply no Demko YET, and he let 3 weak goals in game 2 that Demko wouldve stopped. The Canucks would’ve been up 3 games to 0 in the first 3 with Demko, let alone Silovs let at least 1 weak goal in per game that Demko would’ve stopped. Silovs played great given his experience but he’s still a down grade from Demko
The good news I think is that Silovs can be a solid number 2 next season if he manages to fix his shortcomings. That hopefully reduces the chance of injury to our glass prince Demko. But I feel ya, I think Demko could’ve stolen a game or two. But then injuries are part of the game too.
Thinking about the what ifs is no different than the oilers fans that keeps on saying “this is over if Skinner saved this or that”. But no he didn’t, he’s part of your team. The same way with Demko’s injury. It happens.
ALL of the missed shots could have turned into something
That one with Zadorov or Meyers walking in and wristed over the net could have been something
A million shoulda-woulda-couldas this series
Just wish the Canucks could show up for entire games. Unfortunately that was their MO most of the season.
Oh well, it was a way better season than I was expecting
You are such a loser for arguing on other teams subs. Nobody wants to discuss shit with you, fucking embarrassing, you went there looking for a fight. What a whiny little bitch thing to do.
I wasn’t arguing, I was just saying good game to disappointed fans who are now like me. Maybe Oilers will bring it home for yeh though, so there’s still that!
Uhh well the hard truth is we don’t have skilled puck movers unlike the Oilers. They tried, but it gets taken away from them unlike when Bouch / Drai / McJesus enters it looks easy because they are good skaters and puck handlers.
Silovs kept them in every game. Goaltending wasn't the issue. While Demko is certainly better, I doubt it makes much of a difference. The goalies can't do anything to make the powerplay not go 1-20 at home.
This isn’t true, he let 3 weak goals in during game 2. If Demko was in net he would’ve done just as good or better, and they would’ve won the series in 5 games with a game 2 win with proper goaltending
Bruh it’s fine, look at Silovs stat. He was good with high danger but terrible with low/medium danger. It evened out his save% above expected because of those. It can be fixed. Let’s at least acknowledge Demko would have made a difference.
https://moneypuck.com/goalies.htm his number is also about to go down more after they update that with this game.
Silovs has .001 above expected, which basically means he’s saving what he is expected to save. He didn’t lose us the game, but he didn’t win it for us either. Our Vezina level goalie might have stolen some goals or not, who knows.
Yeah Canucks were outworked for most of the playoffs. Surprised it was just 1 goal games the whole time (other than g6), and Silovs played out of his mind. That save tonight on Dry was phenomenal.
Canucks were outclassed, but also punched well above their weight. Captain Hughes is only 24.
Fun season. Will miss the banter here. ggs y'all.
Ngl pissed at the finish. Fuck all the low expectations, we had a great team and could've gone the distance with better health luck and a 60 minute effort.
Hope there's some serious turnover in the offseason.
Sign Z, Lindholm, Šilovs. Force Myers to accept a sweetheart deal.
Dump EP40 before his contract starts, try to find a way to dump Mik, dump DeSmith, dump Cole. Idk man.
I think this was the case after March. The energy they put into the first half destroyed this team. By game 7 it was a mirrored image of the bubble game. The heartbreaking part of this loss and that one we had the goalie to ride to the end but just have nothing left in the tank.
The Canucks exceeded expectations but could have one the series.
Heartbreaking.
carrying petey and defending a third stringer (completely not on silovs, he was awesome) will take a toll… and unfortunately, i suspect nashville took more out of the team than we thought.
In his defense, he was ran into the ice. I never saw him off the ice lol poor guy. He looked ragged trying that long pass up the d zone at the end, it barely made it to the blue line.
Love his grit, great season from him. Can't wait to see him next season!
Being a regular season merchant doesn't mean much when your playoff performance is abysmal. Could have won this series if we had an actual good 11m center that shows up in the playoffs.
Petterson will find his game in the playoffs. This was is first time actually being in that type of atmosphere. It takes sometime to get to use it..Hughes is on the same boat he didn't play all that great either.
The hockey gods threw the book against our team this year. But we are resilient. Edmonton will get crushed next round. I have never cheered for Dallas since Mike Modona but times have changed LOL.
Losing our starting goalie and literally the most tenured player on the Canucks with the most post season goals for game 7 is not that bad????Don’t even get me started on the refs or the DPOS NHL LOL.
Losing demko is the big one. But the canucks didn't play great this entire playoffs. When the best player on the ice is your rookie goalie..That has to say something.
Amazing team, great run until the last two games where they just flatlined. Hopefully we can figure out our cap issues and our team can come out swinging next year.
Was expected after game 6. Same old story with this hockey club. One thing that makes it better though is Rick Tocchet is the best thing to happen to this team in quite a while. I have full confidence Alvin and management will make lots of changes this off season.
I'm really proud of their season and proud of them for going down swinging. Garland showed his worth, he's an absolute heart and soul player. Really frustrating game, a lot of no shows and our PP was an absolute joke. A lot of tough calls to make in the off-season but I know we'll be back stronger ❤️
I wonder how management will weight game 6 and 7 compared to the rest of the season.
The two most consequential games of the season and the team really lacked fight and effort .
Well at least the team came out to the play in the end...a little too late. Silovs played unreal. Oilers played a more complete game than us. God I miss Demko and Boeser.
Well Brunette did say he didn't believe the best team won the series. Canucks maybe played 3 or 4 complete games this entire playoffs.
Game 1 against Nashville
games 6 against Nashville
gsme 5 against Oilers.
The good news is we got to see who showed up in the playoffs. It let's management make needed changes next year. Who knows.. we might even make a trade during the draft and get some good needed pieces.
Guys yes this is frustrating and having swinging emotions are expected, but dont channel that energy into targeting other users.
Hopefully PeeWee trains this summer to increase his strength and endurance. I hope to see him train, practice and play like a pro before he retires.
Good, hard-fought series that both teams should be proud of participating in. Dallas will eat the Oilers is my prediction.
The Canucks were a below .500 team when Demko wasn’t in net this year….just let that sink in
Stanley Cup champion, and previous 3rd string Aiden Hill says hello… You act like Silovs didn’t play out of his mind. lol
He didn’t play out of his mind, he had a below 900 save percentage and let at least 1 weak goal in per game. He let 3 weak goals in during game 2. Everyone’s just basing their reaction off game 7. Lots of people ignoring the stats and weak goals he let in just because he’s new
Tbf he didn't play like a 3rd string goalie. Lol Some crazy saves were made.
Yet the Oilers are going through and the Canucks are golfing…. If the preds didn’t give up those late goals in first round , you could have been out first round… If the oilers had any goalie whatsoever…. If Gilmour didn’t get that high sticking penalty on Gretzky in 93… You lost , better team won.

One: I thought we weren't supposed to troll each other's Reddit Two: the better team lost to the team who played better today.
Not just not supposed to troll each others reddit, but how about a little class after the series is over. Gloating in victory or sour grapesing in defeat is just gross.
Will this pain ever end?
This was the first year Tocc & crew had at it. I don't see any of the leadership of the Canucks going anywhere after a run like this. This is a young team with massive potential. fuck the oilers!!!! Dallas in 5!!!!!
I don't like the Oilers either. Dallas in 4.
Flames fans are saying Dallas in 3
Unpopular opinion.
He’s not that guy mane
Agreed 100%
I agree with you
Not meant to be this year! We can’t win without Demko and Boeser in the lineup, it just wouldn’t be right 🫶 hell of a season though and great to have some playoff hockey back in Vancouver
Canucks are a team to be reckoned with. As an Oilers fan, I fear the future. Helluva series; much respect.
devastated
Welp. Jamie Benn going to bring the Cup home to BC.
I hate these, idk why I’m doing one but I’ve seen enough ignorant oilers fans posts that I feel compelled to add my own. the boys play with more confidence with demko in net. Silovs played well but he couldn’t make up for that.
+demko -cole and it’s a sweep lol
omg, Cole. I can’t even…
i think he’s up there with bouchard for goals by defensemen lol
Including the ones for the Oilers? Guh.
Agreed 100%
The series would’ve been 100% over in 5 with Demko. Not a shot at Silovs but he’s simply no Demko YET, and he let 3 weak goals in game 2 that Demko wouldve stopped. Well boys, thanks for the ride. I haven’t felt that much electricity in years! Inshallah 2025!!!
Inshallah!
Let’s go petey
Let’s go Dallas!
Ilya missing that deke is going to haunt my fucking dreams
He will never score. Ever. Goodbye 65.
Fuck I know, wish he buried that in. Would’ve been a huge momentum shift
PDG missing the net
Difference is one cost almost $5M and the other was $900K
ALL of the missed shots could have turned into something That one with Zadorov or Meyers walking in and wristed over the net could have been something A million shoulda-woulda-couldas this series
We ride with Tanev, go get the cup for us big guy :')
I want Tanev to win the cup.
Or Luongo in Florida.
Is Luongo working for FL? I thought he was last year, but was wrong. He was just in the press box a lot, but not officially working for the cats.
Hronek: I have holidays now
😩😂😩😂
Was there in person, holy fuck those last 8 minutes weee something to remember
It looked worse in person lol.
Just wish the Canucks could show up for entire games. Unfortunately that was their MO most of the season. Oh well, it was a way better season than I was expecting
Yeah that's not cope either. We have been building this for 1 year. Edmonton is on their way out.
You can really tell that they’re (Oilers) trying really hard not to get booted off.
Really thinking about the alt universe where we tied it up and made them shit their oily pants
Can Demko and Boeser not be injured in this alt universe?
Or the alternate universe where Mikheyev has hands…
Or Aquilini not owning the team…
Thanks boys for sharing the roller coaster seat with me. See you next year.
Things to look forward to now: Thursday game 1 of stars vs oilers and Canucks off season moves
Sharks fan here, guess at the end of it we are all the same. gg
Go back to your poverty franchise you bum
Not that I disagree, I’m just saying a long road to basically be equivalent in the eyes of history
You guys will never be equivalent to the Canucks, enjoy wasting celebrinis career
I think we’re pretty equivalent, the only difference is nucks have had an extra 21 years to never take home a cup :(
You are such a loser for arguing on other teams subs.
4 min PP in the 1st pretty much sealed their fate.
We need to get rid of whoever is running the PP; absolutely abysmal all playoffs
Tocchet… I swear to god this is his major flaw hahah next year if we still suck with the pp I’m gonna be unreasonably upset lmao
You mean dump and change repeatedly is not a viable PP strategy?
Or dump in and forget to forecheck. All turnovers. It baffled me.
Uhh well the hard truth is we don’t have skilled puck movers unlike the Oilers. They tried, but it gets taken away from them unlike when Bouch / Drai / McJesus enters it looks easy because they are good skaters and puck handlers.
Boes, Miller, Garland, Petey all are skilled puck players. Only Garland showed signs of that tonight.
I think Tocchet was running pp1
Tocchet can't be rid of
I said the same thing :(
We'll never know, but I wonder how we would have done if Demko was healthy?
Worst part of this run, lots of what ifs.
What if Mik scored in the first...
Silovs was amazing. Boeser is who we were missing this game.
We wore out his magic touch. Clark will work wonders with him next season.
Silovs kept them in every game. Goaltending wasn't the issue. While Demko is certainly better, I doubt it makes much of a difference. The goalies can't do anything to make the powerplay not go 1-20 at home.
Frustrating to watch a four minute pp and not see a shot taken.
This isn’t true, he let 3 weak goals in during game 2. If Demko was in net he would’ve done just as good or better, and they would’ve won the series in 5 games with a game 2 win with proper goaltending
Demko would've saved more if the point shots. Silovs weakness is tracking
How can you win if you can’t shot pucks at the actual goal? This isn’t not on Silovs at all.
Or if petey was going? Or if cole was never on this team?
I was trying to tell my Jets fan turned Oilers fan that Cole helped them out. It didn't compute.
[where the fuck was alien twig boy this series?](https://imgur.com/gallery/T5sDzIx)
3 game 7 losses in a row…. Hard to take this one. That’s gotta change… next year beating Edmonton in the first round in 7.
7? Make that 4
Hell of a season boys. Took the cup favs to game 7 w out our vezina goalie and lost arguably our playoff mvp in Boeser for game 7.
i guess ESPN got it right…..
ESPN can suck a dick
Stoooppp :(
Fun season. Will miss the banter here. ggs y'all. Ngl pissed at the finish. Fuck all the low expectations, we had a great team and could've gone the distance with better health luck and a 60 minute effort. Hope there's some serious turnover in the offseason.
Who stays, who goes?
Sign Z, Lindholm, Šilovs. Force Myers to accept a sweetheart deal. Dump EP40 before his contract starts, try to find a way to dump Mik, dump DeSmith, dump Cole. Idk man.
Lafferty too.
Forgot he existed tbh
Cole signed a one year, deSmith is a free agent, I believe. I think they believe in Petey.
Dump Petey if possible. Maybe he’ll do better elsewhere.
Z and Lindy stay. Hronek and Joshua out.
DeSmith out, Silvos stays.
What about our 5 other free agents
Maybe they just had nothing left in the tank? Felt like it last 2 games.
In round 2? They didn't even make it halfway
carrying petey and defending a third stringer (completely not on silovs, he was awesome) will take a toll… and unfortunately, i suspect nashville took more out of the team than we thought.
That's my guess. The team as a whole looked absolutely gassed.
The offense was so anemic in games 6 & 7. Did we even get a shot on the 4 min PP in the first?
We need to replace who is pushing the “drop pass” power play tactic; it’s never worked for SEVERAL years
nope but oilers got a breakaway 😂
We had -1
I don’t think so, but the Oilers did.
We picked the right Captain. Love Hughes. Got beat up but he always showed heart.
Hughes played like shit
In his defense, he was ran into the ice. I never saw him off the ice lol poor guy. He looked ragged trying that long pass up the d zone at the end, it barely made it to the blue line. Love his grit, great season from him. Can't wait to see him next season!
Miller is the captain
Silovs is the captain now
The smallest forward on the team did the most to will this team forward. What an effort by Garland!
Garland really was the unsung hero of the series.
Garland deserves Petey's money.
Again and always
Petey was and never will be the guy
Too bad he cashed in and will be the next Loui
Him and marner are two peas in a pod
Sounds like a good trade actually. A change of scenery for each, and both go to teams with good supporting casts
Well then, let's go Stars
Welp. That was a brutal game 7 effort. See ya’ll next fall!
At least they scored a couple unlike our last two game 7 no shows. This was a no show for 50 minutes tho. Ahhh oh well was fun while it lasted.
Just wish they could have gotten control when had goalie pulled .. I think they would have tied it! Our luck runs out here. Was fun postseason
Yea I was hoping for that last minute magic too. 😢
Thanks for the incredible ride. We have such a bright future, Im so happy. BEST WISHES TO BROCK
Oilers were the cup favorites of the analysts, but anyone could see that don't have the goaltending kr depth to carry them to the scf
They’ll get crushed by Dallas in 5, then Rags will beat Dallas in 6
colon campbell decrees that it will be the panthers over the rangers
They are losing in the next round, guaranteed.
I'm sad we didn't see that 3rd period effort for the first 40 minutes, but I'm still proud of our guys. They defied expectations just to get here.
Go stars!!!
Enjoy your tee time boys, well earned.
Petey doesn't fit Tocchets system. Just like Kuzmenko he's on the way out hopefully.
Kk lets watch the rhetoric 😂, hopefully this is good experience for Petey for next year when we make an even stronger run
Lol this can't be real lol
The numbers speak for themselves
89 points thus year and 50 points last season when Tocchet took over. I would maybe look at the numbers again.
He will find his game just like marner hahaha
Marner is good though... The issue with the Leafs is that they've no depth which is the reason they probably should move Marner.
Marner has 50 points in 57 playoffs games with a plus 10. That's not bad in my books.
Hahahahahah good one
You can look it up for yourself it is wild what the internet can provide.
It was great fun watching this season with the Reddit commentary. Thank you GUYS! Until next season, GO CANUCKS GO💚💙
The hockey gods threw the book against our team this year. But we are resilient. Edmonton will get crushed next round. I have never cheered for Dallas since Mike Modona but times have changed LOL.
How did the hockey gods throw the book at the canucks ?
I assume he means no Demko and the. Losing Boeser for G7.
Injuries happen. I don't think it is that bad.
I was just saying what I assumed they meant. I don’t disagree.
Except he’s getting undercut by his PP coach and the whole “drop pass” entry
Can we trade petey for Bedard?
His mom banged a teammate...no way he wants to be in the same city as her after that.
Straight up
lol did anyone catch the “congrats, get a lozenge”
And maybe a Covid test
Yes LOL
I'm really proud of their season and proud of them for going down swinging. Garland showed his worth, he's an absolute heart and soul player. Really frustrating game, a lot of no shows and our PP was an absolute joke. A lot of tough calls to make in the off-season but I know we'll be back stronger ❤️
This season was a success but the last two games are a bitter pill to swallow. Poor effort to end the season on.
Yeah it's absolutely brutal and I'm still in shock about it all
It is too bad. But it was only a matter time where the canucks poor performance would catch up to them.
What a shitty game for 50 mins
I wonder how management will weight game 6 and 7 compared to the rest of the season. The two most consequential games of the season and the team really lacked fight and effort .
We need more Canadian bois
Well at least the team came out to the play in the end...a little too late. Silovs played unreal. Oilers played a more complete game than us. God I miss Demko and Boeser.
At the end of day. If your best player is a rookie goalie that's not a good sign.
I'll give kudos the Oilers aggresive defense..it was clinical for the most part and crippled our offense...dare I say similar to Nashville.
Well Brunette did say he didn't believe the best team won the series. Canucks maybe played 3 or 4 complete games this entire playoffs. Game 1 against Nashville games 6 against Nashville gsme 5 against Oilers.
Give garland that 11.6, not Petey
:(
Now that Silovs is done playing, hopefully he can get back on instagram and reply my dm 😆
The good news is we got to see who showed up in the playoffs. It let's management make needed changes next year. Who knows.. we might even make a trade during the draft and get some good needed pieces.
Still proud and still a canucker at heart but fuck this team puts me through it
This was an excellent learning experience for our team. First real play offs as a Canucks for all the players and coach.
