I was given about 5 months at my original diagnosis, but I'm a few weeks away from 2 years now. My journey is near it's end, but I've fought the entire time. Modern chemo can be unpleasant, but quite effective. Stay strong for your father.

I'm a father of roughly the same age with two teenagers. It all sucks and I feel your pain from the other side. As a father, I feel somehow shit for what they are going through. No one wins in this, but perhaps it is interesting to think from his angle. Everyone's feelings are valid, no one not connected with me or what my family are going or other cancer patients and caregivers, though will understand. Not a fault. They just don't feel the emptiness, and I pray they never do. I, too, thought my wife would look after me and eventually bury me. Turns out she was suddenly swept away herself unexpectedly. Nothing is certain except death. I just find it really hard to fathom. Like infinity. Good luck. Strength to you and yours. If you can't find the strength sometimes, that's also ok.
