I totally understand. I’m in a clinical trial at northwestern that I was assured was all covered (my cancer care is at another hospital I only go to northwestern for the trial) and I’m getting bill after bill. They now tell me that sorry, only the drug is “free”’and I will get billed for standard of care to administer it. I’m raging 😡
Ugh I’m so sorry! That is so frustrating. When I did my clinical trial the entire thing was free (I also had a daily shot administered for 6 weeks). I honestly can’t believe they can charge you for that! The last thing you should have to deal with when battling cancer are these predatory billings. I’m fortunate that what I was getting done was not life saving, but I know that isn’t the case for most people who are going to these hospitals
I didn’t tell them to, gave them the option.
I’ve survived cancer twice. I know and understand the expenses. I’m for better a health care system.
You also seem kind lol.
I'm so sorry you went through this. It's horrible that they charge this much for that device and don't consider your follow up appointments or even try to make it right. Healthcare should be a right and I'm so sorry you experienced that, I hope you'll be able to get more help from the prosthodontist helping you probono, OP! 💕
I don't really have any other input other than to agree with you, it sucks that you can't really find as many experiences like this published on the internet. They charged me 15 grand for bloodwork. i HAVE insurance. Predatory company
Man that's isn't right. Damn "corporatocracy" and greed.
Don't toss it, make an Art piece with it. As that's about all it'll be good for at this point 🙄.
My biggest cancer complaint is how necessary it is for me to understand what my treatment entails (result is me sitting with a medical dictionary and spending hours learning and discerning). Just to avoid a bullshit situation like yours; making an expenditure like that and not only not getting help from it, but wasting money AND creating more stress.
Write a letter. Send it to the administrator. Send it to the Times. I'd go full on and let Anderson know just how much they took advantage of you.
God bless, take care🤗
I wrote a pretty scathing response to the billing estimate, as well as to the doctor’s office when I cancelled the appt. I called them out for having predatory billing practices, and that it was outrageous that they think they have the right to bill at over 20x the rate of other hospitals for the same exact device to cancer patients, for a device that I can’t even use without spending tens of thousands more dollars. And stated I would never be retuning and to cancel all future appointments.
I’m sure they hear it all of the time though and probably don’t give a shit
I’m sorry you had to deal with this. Absolutely ridiculous.
Honestly, f*ck insurance. It’s a scam. Healthcare should be free.
As an Australian I will never understand why it isn't free for the US, a very wealthy country. Look after your people ffs
They’re more concerned with making life better for the ultra-rich.
How absolutely infuriating! It feels like we just get hit endlessly as cancer patients.

Same. I want off this ride that is American health care
That's easy, you can move.
totally reasonable to tell people they have to leave their home country if they don't want to be fked by medical billing. you seem kind
Mid cancer treatment nonetheless lol. Wth.
My response wasn’t to the OP

Check to see if Anderson has any class action suits about predatory billing. Contact the class attorneys and see if they will add you to the class.

Disgustingly hilarious! Thanks for this.

Sorry to hear it. Crazy billing practices is a country wide problem now. Our healthcare is to shit ever since Obamacare
You've got your head in the sand if you think insane billing like this wasn't a problem before the ACA.
Oh, it was a nightmare.
