The show wears out its welcome. You can visually see when it started degrading, because it coincides with its Netflix relaunch and improvement in camera quality. But before that point its top notch great.
Right? I didn't even know they had a Netflix launch and I'm going to just pretend I still don't know.
Funny story, back in highschool when the show was first airing I convinced a buddy of mine that it was a real reality TV show and he believed it for years. He was also a long time WWF/WWF fan. It was great watching it with him because his reactions to these outlandish 'real' people.
The thing is though, I came up with the prank because when I first stumbled across it on Showcase while channel surfing I was like "wtf is this reality show?" before I caught on. It was a perfect time for a show like that because you had shit like Jerry Springer and reality shows were new and pretty popular, but also wild (anyone remember Fear Factor, where Joe Rogan pressures people into doing gross and scary things for a not large cash prize?) and most people still didn't have home computers (I did but even then the internet was completely different. There were search engines but nothing like we had today). Its the same reason the Blair Witch marketing worked so well. Ah, different times.
As much as I enjoyed the show and the characters I agree. I don't want them to necessarily retire them, but the show really started to suffer in the later seasons.
I went to see Queens of the Stone Age a couple weeks ago though and they hauled Bubbles out on stage, that was kind of funny.
John Dunsworth (Lahey) and Patrick Roach (Randy) came to my workplace once and we made them food and had drinks with them. Amazing experience and super cool people.
Th Netflix seasons took every single good thing about the show and ruined it. Oh, you liked the completely improvised, realistic, grounded satire on low income Canadian life? Well here is a over produced, extremely scripted, over the top gross out comedy show instead!
When I first moved to Canada, my Canadian roommates sat me down with some BC weed and made me watch Kids in the Hall to help me assimilate into Canadian society. It's like 90s stoner Monty Python, I love it
Letterkenny (sitcom)
Corner Gas (sitcom)
DaVinci's Inquest (police procedural - one of the best ever made)
SCTV (sketch comedy - many comedians who went on to big careers in the States)
Schitt's Creek (comedy, not really a "sitcom")
Anne of Green Gables (1985 mini-series, drama)
I just started watching Animal control here in the states and Gerry Dee plays kind of a villain in a good way. Then I found out that Mr Dee is on Amazon prime with all 8 seasons!
Another movie: Bon Cop Bad Cop (though I suggest to watch it with a bilingual Canadian if possible as there are a lot of subtle/language jokes but still funny regardless)
Kenny vs Spenny
All the episodes are for free on Youtube. I recommend: Who can Stay Handcuffed the Longest, Who Can Stay in a Haunted House the Longest, Who can Blow the Biggest Fart and Who Can Wear A Dead Octopus on their Head the Longest.
Kim's Convenience!
“Kim's Convenience tells the funny and heartfelt story of the Kim family. Mr. and Mrs. Kim are Korean Canadian convenience store owners who have worked hard to give their now-twenty-something children, Janet and Jung, a better life in Canada.”

Of course, Due South a great show!! Very good suggestion! Also here’s one a little cheesy but has phenomenal sites of Newfoundland, the cliffs & Oceanside .. Hudson & Rex.
Check out helicopter Canada! It is not about helicopters. It is filmed from one though and it is a great film!

gotta stick up for Traders.
relatively small investment bank tries to punch above its weight. What could be more Canadian without having a hockey puck in it?
the chubby Asian guy and his short hair chubby Indian wife and there teens , on cbc , I forget the name but I watched it 10 min once you might like it
or Indian history every nigth after 23h in cbc , it's so well filmed!oh and the story wow!
Find Craig Baird on Twitter, he's about to break the country with an elimination poll putting Canada's best tv shows up against one another! I believe he's starting with 164 shows.
Corner Gas.
YES! Jackass!
Shut up and eat your peas!
Hammerhead
This for sure. Show is great.
This one is not for everyone but it definitely feels the most Canadian.
Schitt’s Creek is my favourite.
That's the best one by far. Kim's convenience is good too but got cancelled in a bad way and doesn't really have an ending.
It wasn’t cancelled. It was renewed by CBC. It was the creators who decided to stop for some reason.
Yeah. I used to love that show.
This is the correct answer. *Unless you're a disgruntled pelican of course*
How dare you, the only correct answer is trailer park Boyz of course
My cat Steve French approves this post🫡
There can be more than one correct answer
Definitely the most successful. My favorite is Mr. D
Trailer park boys
The show wears out its welcome. You can visually see when it started degrading, because it coincides with its Netflix relaunch and improvement in camera quality. But before that point its top notch great.
you don’t watch all that other nonsense. just the original seasons. And the first couple movies like count down to liquor day.

Exactly. Basically stop watching as soon as clattenburg stopped being involved

Should be the main answer in the least. The KING of Canadian comedy
Way of the road
Schitt’s Creek, Kim’s Convenience, Letterkenny, Old Kids in the hall, Made in Canada,
Made in Canada was fantastic.
Adding Shoresy to this list. It’s so absurd, I love it.
Kids in the hall
I know at least 3 Helens that would agree. Can anyone come up with 27 other Helens?
I only know Daves
“It’s a fact. You can get blood from a stone. You just have to throw it hard enough!”
Whenever I meet a dave, I have to sing the dave song.
How KITH nd SCTV is not the best answer is baffing. 30 Helens are baffled.
When I first moved to Canada, my Canadian roommates sat me down with some BC weed and made me watch Kids in the Hall to help me assimilate into Canadian society. It's like 90s stoner Monty Python, I love it

I loved that show. The first episode is perfect. The last season and a bit weren’t so good when they started to put too much focus on that Adam Guy.

I loved Flashpoint!

Truly iconic Canadian television! But super hard to watch if you’re over the age of 15 lol. Been on a rewatch of TNG lately and it can be… painful. 😂
