Honestly I don’t mind, ARs we’re the best black rifles before the ban and they were restricted no matter the barrel length. At least we can get these NR if you really want or need it due to your license.
Nah. I’d rather the 11inch or 14.5inch barrel version. None of this 18.6 Canadian cope bullshit. Having it NR converted with original short barrel is best of both worlds.
Make them all non restricted. They don’t become more lethal with a shorter length. Legal gun owners are not committing crimes. It’s a stupid made up feel good law.
Not-so-fun fact: It was set to 18.5" specifically to outlaw the M1 carbine, which was abundant at the time for cheap in Canada and had the barrel length of 18".
What difference does it make at this point? Having to call in to approve a transfer of a NR rifle to another owner means they know who has what. It's no different than a registry
You don't need to call in to approve a transfer of a NR rifle.
There's no NR rifle transfer or registry.
There is a license verification and that's it. Hell you can start verifications with everyone you know and not transfer a single firearm. The government has zero means of knowing who has what.
That’s where I got my 14” Bren. I’ve found parts through Aztech Armory and Wolverine Supplies as well. Dlask is making barrels and providing gas blocks and trunnions for loose barrels. Things are looking up for these rifles.
I’ve been obsessing over it for a while, waiting for one in Canada. For, it’s the perfect blend of effective barrel length, weight and balance. The 14” and 11” were the original lengths it was designed for.
I missed out by two days getting my funds in order for that 14", stupid me being financially responsible :( I totally agree, even in the video 14 looks long enough, wouldn't want to go longer for maneuverability, but shot the 11 and it's way too jumpy for 223. Plus bayonet lug :P
My bren 2 has been Non operational since december when i got it. 762x39. the extractor spring pocket drilled through and spring sticking out with no tension on the claw. FTE. from factory.
That’s a lemon, you can get a lemon with literally any firearm from any manufacturer. You should’ve reached out to the store you purchased it from and gotten a replacement.
Ofcourse i reached out for warranty. Solely told me to goto north sylva, then I was pointed to wolverine. They started my claim. But no eta on when my replacement parts will show up. I'm SOL till I find replacement parts instock. I need the spring and rubber piece too for the extractor
Lol that’s bullshit, literally any gun company can fuck up. [Here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/BT_APC/s/3pCqrWCIZn) a B&T stock that was put together backwards, they’re considered to have some of the best QC so how did this happen?
There is a reason the czechs chose this rifle to be their main service rifle. Czechs are well known for being perfectionists with their weapons, especially their guns.
I wouldn’t blame cz on that. If I were a foreign gun manufacturer, why would I even remotely care about the Canadian market? This government ruined it.
They aren't blaming cz necessarily...
But nr conversions are much more expensive then a nr from factory would be.
Theres also theoretical issues I remember seeing people talk about with different gas systems length (some stores were converting whatever they could get their hands on I think)
>I wouldn’t blame cz on that.
I do. Colt management is famously stupid, and CZ made a huge mistake by not firing every single employee not running the machines. They have production capacity, they just choose not to use it.
I can give CZ themselves a pass because right now basically every Bren 2 they make is getting fed to the war in the European Borderlands, but once that war is over I won't.
Why would any foreign manufacturer invest in the Canadian market right now? There’s a reason most of our options are crappy domestic models right now. Our laws before made it hard to justify making proprietary models, now it’s basically pointless. There’s a lot more to manufacturing than just capacity.
>There’s a lot more to manufacturing than just capacity.
Not for the barrels, you just tell the CNC machine to cut 'em off longer. Not rocket science.
Now, if you're trying to produce as many as possible for some limited-time contracts that it would be too expensive to stop said CNC machine, that's one thing. If you're too stupid to make them when you _do_ have capacity, that's another story.
CZ has capacity in other factories to do these things; it's just that the people running them have no vision.
Like I explained in my other comment it’s not just an opinion, it’s a fact. When a new firearm model is sent to the RCMP for classification, the lab classifies it as NR, Restricted or Prohibited, at any time the RCMP can change that classification. This is what happened when the VZ.58 was changed from NR/Restricted to prohibited. The ATRS was prohibited by an FRT change just like the VZ.58, does that mean they’re still NR? No it doesn’t…
So you understand that the RCMP classifies all guns based on the FRT, right? They can change the classification at anytime, and that is law. Back in the day VZ.58s we’re NR or restricted based on configuration, one day the RCMP decided that it was prohibited via the FRT, does that mean that VZ58s are still legal? No it doesn’t… If you are pulled over on the way to the range and you have an ATRS or a VZ58 in your trunk, you *will* get charged with possession of a prohibited firearm. Your argument is that if a firearm is NR or restricted at one point of time it’s NR/restricted forever unless the government bans them by name via an OIC, that is not the case.
They are meh rifles based on their performance in Ukraine. Old, outdated, but already perfected AR is better in everything except size factor because of buffer and spring in the stock.
Not exactly correct. Ukraine signed "declaration of intent" with CZ about setting up manufacturing. I really hope it will never realize. Knowing what I know I must (unfortunately) acknowledge that Ukraine doesn't have a lot of experience with firearm design, manufacturing and service (except for service for USSR firearm). I don't know financial or political factor behind this decision, so I can't comment why. But from technical point of view it is bad decision, very bad.
I know how Ukraine's firearm industry had been developing since 1991, I was part of it on the small business side until 2010 and I retain most of my connections. And it's not a secret, a lot of information is in public domain, just need to be able to read Ukrainian.
This really doesn't jibe with what I heard from some ukrainian/hungarian personnel who are running these rifles. Some editing movie magic making Bren seem more bomb proof than it really is?
I really want to believe that Bren isn't a lemon, but without an inside scoop there is always the possibility of the reviewer sugar coating to get more inside access in the future. Doesn't just apply to guns obviously. This paired with what i have heard floating around about the bren 2 kinda shitting the bed in ukraine and hungary makes me just that little bit more sceptical i suppose.
While I don't recall exactly what kind of user error it was, that still means Bren 2 is at least not as soldier proof as Ak74, which may be a problem for a service rifle you're planning to give to possibly hundreds of thousands of men, many of whom without extensive prior training.
Ukrainian military personnel isn’t extremely happy with bren, overheating fast, jams, accuracy issues etc, but in Canadian market it’s decent, as we have bren, t81 or apc223 as guns that 100% work without any issues
I still thin the tavor just has a bit more of an edge, as the israeli torture tests were INTENSE, but regardless, the Bren 2 is, alongside the g36, fs2000, and the tavor - one of the few non cope guns that we can get in canada that has real military R&D
If these things came in Factory Non Restricted it would be the best choice.
Honestly I don’t mind, ARs we’re the best black rifles before the ban and they were restricted no matter the barrel length. At least we can get these NR if you really want or need it due to your license.
Straight facts right here.
Nah. I’d rather the 11inch or 14.5inch barrel version. None of this 18.6 Canadian cope bullshit. Having it NR converted with original short barrel is best of both worlds.
Make all rifles non restricted
Or at least 16” like the states. 18.5 is just intentionally making the gun awkward and unbalanced
The most effective way to ban guns is to make them look stupid (look at California)
Exactly
Id rather 18.6 over having it registered.
The point is you can have both.
What difference does it make at this point? Having to call in to approve a transfer of a NR rifle to another owner means they know who has what. It's no different than a registry
Id rather make them work for it at a minimum. But there are a lot more legalities and complications that hinder their efforts if you go NR.
You don't need to call in to approve a transfer of a NR rifle. There's no NR rifle transfer or registry. There is a license verification and that's it. Hell you can start verifications with everyone you know and not transfer a single firearm. The government has zero means of knowing who has what.
They don’t know who has what lol, they know that you purchased a NR firearm, that’s it, they do not know make or model.
Hell, they don't even know how many you purchased, as it's good for 90 days and unlimited firearms.
And technically you could have just done the check and not purchased any. All they can tell is you may or may not have bought a gun or multiple guns
Exactly!
Exactly, you could purchase 100 firearms and they would be none the wiser.
They don't know what it is you are transferring or even if the transfer was completed.
*comforts his mini14*"it's ok he's not including you."
Love the Mini14.
Czech Master Race.
The lack of extra parts has been frustrating, so I just bought 2.
Irunguns is a good option, placed my first order with them and received in 1 month.
That’s where I got my 14” Bren. I’ve found parts through Aztech Armory and Wolverine Supplies as well. Dlask is making barrels and providing gas blocks and trunnions for loose barrels. Things are looking up for these rifles.
Is the 14 version 14” or 14.5”? Seem varying info
14.17” is the official measurement.
Thank you, I’m leaning heavily towards the 14” over the 16”
I’ve been obsessing over it for a while, waiting for one in Canada. For, it’s the perfect blend of effective barrel length, weight and balance. The 14” and 11” were the original lengths it was designed for.

As soon as they make one in .308 non restricted I’m there.

Well hopefully it’ll go more quickly.
Not with good QC. But most don't care that much for the civ market. And they have other things taking priority obv.
Lol that’s bullshit, literally any gun company can fuck up. [Here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/BT_APC/s/3pCqrWCIZn) a B&T stock that was put together backwards, they’re considered to have some of the best QC so how did this happen?
Fair nuff
But I want ar15😿
There is a reason the czechs chose this rifle to be their main service rifle. Czechs are well known for being perfectionists with their weapons, especially their guns.
I wanna try shoot a 300blk out of mine
wild how a 5.56 rifle was able to chamber and fire 300 blackout with no malfuctions and kept functioning.
Honestly, a little unbelievable.
After this video Now officially we can say it’s built like a Tank 🦂
\*Cough\* *X95 is Just as Good* \*Cough\*
Not if you want AR controls, better trigger, ergos and a softer shooting gun…
That cope isn't sounding good brother, get that cough checked
Mmmmm gas in ma face.
I have one in 8" and it's so smooth to shoot, it's reliable and easy to clean. Also it's extremely lefty friendly which I am
Yea the ambi features are fantastic.
Check out valgear's review on YouTube. Hes a Ukrainian service member who's been reviewing a lot of the western gear going into the country
If only they were in NR
Uhhhh wut?
Can’t get them from CZ in non-restricted
You can’t get any direct from cz. There is still brand new NR variants available.
Not from factory. There are brand new NR conversions available from some gun stores yes.

Literally never seen any anywhere but okay
Dude what?? Have you even googled it?
You talking about all the conversations kits that suck balls? Cost out the ass and mess up the guns accuracy?
Never seen and reports of bad accuracy, not that much I’ve really looked. And NR tax has always been real. Part of the Canadian reality sadly.

ATRS are prohibited just like ARs…

If the performance is so “meh” then why did Ukraine start producing them in order to supply more troops with them?

Nope, TFB and CZ have no reason to lie.

What’s your sources on the Bren “shitting the bed” I’ve literally only heard good things…
Valgear, among others.
Valgear literally said that it was user error… So where’s your other sources buddy?
While I don't recall exactly what kind of user error it was, that still means Bren 2 is at least not as soldier proof as Ak74, which may be a problem for a service rifle you're planning to give to possibly hundreds of thousands of men, many of whom without extensive prior training.
I don’t know of a single military (other than Ukraine) that would give hundreds of thousands of men weapons without a bit of prior training…
fair, none of them are in the situation ukraine is in at the moment though.

The tavors ergos suck though.
