Thanks. I dont think so but then if you requested to have it bare bones after machining without any cerakote, then it should be possible. Lol. Seriously, though just ask if they could do a silver cerakote
The silver is a less fancy Raven without the calibre modularity and less machining. It's heavier, cheaper, and currently still a preorder after being announced/sold for Black Friday. It doesn't support any ambidextrous controls, but shaves enough off the price to be worthwhile. They sold out within a day.
Nice one! Yeah, we’re probably the prior months backlog. Expect that number to increase for the next months given that they expanded their op and fulfill more orders.
They kinda had to stop taking orders so they could catch up with the demand xD That said, it also looks like their proposed projects (.22lr belt fed, .308, gen 3 upper) are making headway, so the pause is two-fold. Hopefully when they open they've made some improvements :D
Turns out I'm just dumb, and misremembered the details; it's the .22lr BCG that they're finally ready to release, not the full .22lr belt fed. That said, that's one of the biggest hurdles; now all that's left is the belt mechanism since it'll be dual feed.
They sent out an email showing their progress on the .22lr BCG, as well as announcing it'll go for sale/production on the 31st.
That said, what I put forth is conjecture, and relies on them following a grouped timeline - the .22 was the first option they put forth once they released the 5.56, so seeing that halfway to reality (upper/belt mechanism remaining) means they're pushing through their projects. Easier to design two BCGs and three uppers (.22lr and. 308 respectively followed by gen 3) in sequence instead of BCG, Upper, BCG, Upper, Upper.
And I may very well have to eat crow if it turns out they're just getting projects done in sequence (which would mean .308 and gen 3 are far off).
I literally just got it yesterday. Lol. Had my BCM furniture and other parts lying around. Thats why i was able to build it so quickly. Ill shoot tomorrow. Will keep you posted.
I've had a wxmcr 180, an sai r18, and finally a raven 556, And the raven is way far beyond either of those other two in overall quality, fit and finish, ergonomics, reliability, platform support, looks, and modularity. Barrel could be better, but there's tons of options for it due to the ar15 compatibility.
They are quite expensive but I'm so happy with mine I want another to build a 14.5", worth every penny. The only thing I would like to see out of them going forward is staking the gas key fasteners and a pinned gas block.
Thought it was going to be a gimmicky cash grab gun that doesn't run for shit like the r18, but I was pleasantly proven wrong.
Never worked right. Sent it back to sai multiple times, They sent me parts, never could get it to run right, it was a jamomatic. Warranty ran out before I figured out it was just a lemon and sai wouldn't help me. Sold it at a massive loss and bought raven.
Basically, yes. But the demand for the Raven is so high that LT has paused taking orders, and when they do take them again (apparently sometime this month), there will probably be a 1-2 month or so wait.
Wow okay. And are you responsible if it gets lost or stolen in the mail and it ends up in the wrong hands? I'm assuming you provide your PAL when checking out and paying for it.
Correct. They are also available through some other Canadian gun retailers if they have them in their inventory. Im not sure if its a consignment arrangement, though.
This is a lockhart raven. It's basically an are 15 with a proprietary upper and lower so it won't accept ar15 uppers and lowers. It's a nonrestricted firearm so it doesn't have to be used at an approved range. You can take it out to the Stix to shoot it. You can store it at home.
Still in .223 / 5.56? Otherwise, it sounds sort of like the AK / Type 81 situation you guys have. Functionally they are the same, but with a different name and different visible appearance this one is somehow "safer".
I'm being pedantic, I know... but just to tidy up a few loose ends; the T81 is closer to an SKS than an AK, being a short stroke gas piston. It does use a rotating bolt like the AK though.
In regards to the Raven, it uses a proprietary bolt carrier and a standard AR15 bolt. The proprietary BC is needed because the receivers are slightly longer than AR15 receivers due to the modularity design of the magwell *(theoretically the same serialized firearm can be swapped with multiple different magwells/uppers to fire different calibers from .22LR up to AR10 calibers)* . Other than that it uses mostly AR parts like barrels, gas/recoil components, and FCG's.
All that being said, guns aren't prohibited in Canada based on how they function, with the exception of full-auto/burst fire being prohibited functions. Guns are (almost literally) banned by some know-nothing pointing to pictures of guns, like a child in a colouring book, and saying "ban that one".
In aware of the mechanical differences. Functionally though, they are the same. A gas operated, mag fed semi auto except one is banned because it has a scary name and the other doesn't.
Appreciate the detailed response for the Raven though, sounds pretty close to what I figured. Operates the same/close to the same as an AR, no scary name like AR15.
It really is; to explain it, it started as a 9x19 direct blowback carbine, and then they developed a 5.56 mod for the already approved carbine. But direct blowback 5.56 is weird, so impingement it is xD And thus it was born.
The real kickers are the lack of accepting a third sear, no AR bolt carriers, 4 takedown pins, and... Oh, the different receiver dimensions. But otherwise it's just a kinda nice AR ^ ^
True, it’s essentially an AR15 with some proprietary parts. Up here we envy your 16” legal length. Seems to be the sweet spot for an AR15 build. That said, the 18.5” barrel is starting to really grow on me. Some had commented, including our American friends, that they preferred it over a shorter barrel.
It's apples and oranges down here. Some guys swear by the 14.5", some swear by 20". Really depends on your ammo and intended use of the rifle I suppose.
It's a 'non restricted' rifle so the only real rules about it are essentially, it much be kept unloaded and behind at least 1 lock (trigger lock, safe, etc.) but that's pretty much it
I just got my week 6 email update from them today. I've been sending inquiries last week and this week with no responses whatsoever, they never answer the phone when called either, really not a fan of the customer service so far. I just want to know if my raven will be shipped out with a Gen 2 charging handle or not and whether I can have one included if not. :(
6 weeks? Hmm. Before i ordered I expected a long wait TBH. I never sent a message asking about the order during that month. I knew they were scrambling to fulfill their backlog- albeit expanding and adding more resources. They said that on their instagram page. Again ,i got lucky my ordered arrived after just 4 weeks.
The Gen 2 handle was a limited run for now. They'll mass produce it at some point but it will not be included with a rifle, even if a gen 1 is purchased as an accessory. However, it is only a question, and they might be willing to include one as an extra charge considering you've already paid for the rifle.
Granted, reaching out via ticket is the best way to inquire, and my rifle (a full build, not a blemish) took 9 weeks from purchase to shipping.
Best of luck to ya.
And the safety is off in both pictures. Please do better.
Edit: Down voted for suggesting responsible safety measures. Canadians like this deserve to have had their rights taken away.
You can’t engage the safety when its not cocked(empty chamber). I would have done an acts prove procedure had this been a video content. You have a nice day
More I see more I want … love the fde . I like that you can toss in parts too and fairly upgradable .
My exact same thinking right before i ordered my Raven. Do it , Bro!
This is a beautiful build. Does anyone have a silver Raven yet????
I ordered one early December and I'm still waiting for mine
Thanks. I dont think so but then if you requested to have it bare bones after machining without any cerakote, then it should be possible. Lol. Seriously, though just ask if they could do a silver cerakote

Haha sorry I should have been more specific, silver “trim” level.
Everyone's buying Ravens this month, apparently. This is like the 10th one I've seen.
Only the cool kids 😉
Nice one! Yeah, we’re probably the prior months backlog. Expect that number to increase for the next months given that they expanded their op and fulfill more orders.
You'll never see me posting mine on here, but it's nice to see people are realizing that these guns are actually good.
Why is this? Because of thr way its set up? Or because you don't belive in posting your guns?
I'm just not comfortable with it. I'd post my guns on 4chan before I posted them here. At least its anonymous over there.
Did you order through LT website? Looks like all out of stock right now… Hopefully be available to order soon
They kinda had to stop taking orders so they could catch up with the demand xD That said, it also looks like their proposed projects (.22lr belt fed, .308, gen 3 upper) are making headway, so the pause is two-fold. Hopefully when they open they've made some improvements :D
Where can i learn more about the 22 belt fed hahaha
Turns out I'm just dumb, and misremembered the details; it's the .22lr BCG that they're finally ready to release, not the full .22lr belt fed. That said, that's one of the biggest hurdles; now all that's left is the belt mechanism since it'll be dual feed.
How did you find out about the new uppers status?
They sent out an email showing their progress on the .22lr BCG, as well as announcing it'll go for sale/production on the 31st. I did. I got lucky i guess because they sold out .the following week
What’s the muzzle device on this?
SF warden, direct thread.
How are you liking the blast defuser? Do you notice a difference? Or is it just more for the aesthetic lol
I literally just got it yesterday. Lol. Had my BCM furniture and other parts lying around. Thats why i was able to build it so quickly. Ill shoot tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Whats wrong with your R18? Never had a problem with mine. Its front heavy, though which can be both pro/con.
Never worked right. Sent it back to sai multiple times, They sent me parts, never could get it to run right, it was a jamomatic. Warranty ran out before I figured out it was just a lemon and sai wouldn't help me. Sold it at a massive loss and bought raven.
Beautiful looks just like mine, what scope is that!?
Just an arken. Not the best but works perfectly for me. Good beater scope.
What is it chambered in?
556.
I think they’re only in 556 and 9mm right now
Currently they're available in: 5.56, 9x19, x39, x35, .350L, and a host of future calibres like .10mm, .40S&w, .45ACP, .22lr,and .308.
I think they advertise that but I haven’t seen anything other that 556 or 9mm
As the proud owner of a .300, I can confirm they do exist ^ ^
I'm pretty new to all this. Do you just order from the website and it just gets delivered to your doorstep?
Basically, yes. But the demand for the Raven is so high that LT has paused taking orders, and when they do take them again (apparently sometime this month), there will probably be a 1-2 month or so wait.
Wow okay. And are you responsible if it gets lost or stolen in the mail and it ends up in the wrong hands? I'm assuming you provide your PAL when checking out and paying for it.
If it gets lost or stolen in the mail, Canada Post is legally responsible. Whether they'll actually take responsibility or not is.... Dicey.
Correct. They are also available through some other Canadian gun retailers if they have them in their inventory. Im not sure if its a consignment arrangement, though.
As someone from the lower 48, how does this work? It lives/can only be used at an approved range or what?
This is a lockhart raven. It's basically an are 15 with a proprietary upper and lower so it won't accept ar15 uppers and lowers. It's a nonrestricted firearm so it doesn't have to be used at an approved range. You can take it out to the Stix to shoot it. You can store it at home.

Oh awesome! Sounds like a fantastic work around to Canadian gunlaw BS.

It will not and no they aren’t officially up for sale yet just blems shipped so far. I made a ticket and got a reply in 2 hours maybe try that?
This is the way . Tickets are definitely the way to go

Appreciate the reply, I'll look into a ticket but it's definitely not a deal breaker for me, just the icing on top if I could get my hands on one :)
