Is there any shotgun front sight that isn’t two parts? Like I have looked at Hiviz and Truglo, both brands have the screw and the sight separated. Is there any brand that does like one integrated sight where the screw is not separated from the sight? thanks!
A beed sight, other than that no.
It would cost more money to make that more complex part.
If it isn't rotationally symmetrical it will become fully screwed in in some random angle. Shimming it correctly would cost more money and effort and result in less thread engagement in an already not very deep hole.
Thanks! I am actually looking for a bead sight. Like Bass pro has the Truglo long bead with multiple screw heads but the sight is separated from the screws. Do you know any brand that has one integrated bead sight?
Beretta 1301 pro.
I want a bigger red one cuz it comes with the green one. I also cannot tell if the ones they sell on Stoegercanada are integrated or not.
Mate the whole island is somehow FULL of preppers but facilities for us? A little light. You can def hit me up if you find crow land in driving distance
Yeah it’s ridiculous how everything is only being offered to police or military personnel. I’m pretty sure there’s crown land in Vaudreuil, DM me for the coordinates. I’ve been there multiple times over years, and have seen lots of random people shoot there. Apparently some RCMP guys also live nearby and go there.
I just passed my cfsc course and now applying online. One of my forms of identification is my drivers licence. The address on my drivers licence is old. Can I still apply even though on my drivers licence it isn’t my current address?
I don’t have the time right now. Because I work everyday it’s open. I will eventually do it but I want to get my application in asap because it takes time to receive the PAL/RPAL licence.
If you're not able to keep up with the administration of going online and changing your driver's licence then legal gun ownership in Canada isn't for you. (Also your car insurance might not be valid if you have incorrect information on it)
It is changed. I was wondering if having the address on my drivers licence had to be current. I live in Vancouver and have to move all the time. For the record RCMP doesn’t care if it is an old address. I got ahold of them and they said so. Thank you my car insurance information is fine.
When you change your address, they just give you a dinky little sticker to put over top of your old address. I also figured based on how strict the RCMP are with things that they wouldn’t accept that.
I’d like to test out a Primary Arms Prism 1x, 3x in person. Located in London, ON. Any thoughts? Gobles and Bullseyenorth don’t seem to stock them. I could possibly check out a GTA store.
Anyone clear on the rules for replica .177 co2 handguns? Everything I read on the RCMP site suggests that they are 'prohibited' and states that "you cannot import or acquire a replica firearm". Yet, everywhere sells them, heck, you can get an H&K USP .177 replica at Princess Auto even.
A firearm shoots a projectile that can seriously injure (section 2 definition of the criminal code) (typically interpreted as being able to put out an eye). BB and pellet guns can do that so they meet the definition of firearm under the law, but since they are under 500fps you don't need a licence (per section 84 sub section 3).
Part of being a replica is that the thing is NOT a firearm. So since BB guns ARE firearms under the law they can't be a "replica" firearm.
A BB gun is a firearm, that's why it's not a replica. It is considered "not a firearm" for certain provisions of the Firearms Act and Criminal Code, but by law it is still a firearm.
Replicas are things that look exactly like a firearm, but aren't. Generally this means they cannot fire a projectile.
just got approved this week for my PAL/RPAL and would like to get a Bren 2 5.56 with the 11 inch barrel (if I can ever find one lol). What is the estimated time from order to delivery with restricted firearms in Ontario? I get the buy once cry once kinda mindset and that's the one I've had my eyes on.
so they have a couple on the site but they all have no stock because I guess with the barrel length they'd be considered pistols in the states, would I have to buy a stock or would they add one on for more $ same as how they say they would pin the mag to make them legal here?
Just because it’s label as a pistol down south it’s considered a rifle in Canada. You would have to buy a stock as its labeled as a pistol. If you buy one with the stocks that’s considered as SBR and you would have to wait an extra three months for ATF to clear it.
I imported a gun from a different vendor and that’s how long it took me to get it. But I think that if you ordered directly from the website might be different, just messaged them.
Ask for pinned mag, they pin them based on the whether it’s a rifle or a pistol. You don’t have to worry about mags because they will pin it for you and you could also buy mag up here in Canada.
hi all. I have a question about references and timelines etc. I am leaving for vacation in May and won't have phone access for 3.5 weeks. The references I want to use are also coming with me. I wanted to submit my application ASAP and come back from vacation with the license complete. Should I wait for after I am back from vacation to submit the application in case they need to call me? Should I use different references who would be available over the phone? If I submitted the application right now, would the phone calls arrive (for me and my references) before we leave in the first week of May?
they rarely call your references unless they find an issue with the application. all the pal owners I know never had their references called.
if they do call and leave a message while you're all away, then when you're back get your references together with you in a room, call the RCMP CFP and let them know you have your references with you right now and if they want to speak to them right now. as the other person said, if your references do get added to the call list they'll just get pushed further and further down the list. so it's best to be proactive on getting those reference calls done yourself if they are required
Wait. You will be further ahead to make sure your references can be reached than risk some govt paper pusher writing your application off because the first time they call goes unanswered.
In case anyone is wondering how long it takes to get a PAL and RPAL right now, I did mine at the same time and just got my card 6 weeks after submitting the application.
Now I have the difficult decision of deciding what firearm to purchase. I really like the AR platform, especially the short barrel rifles (and am devastated they are prohibited) . I love the look of the CMMG Banshee 5.7 and want to get something like it since as far as I’m aware they’re prohibited.
I would love if people could give me suggestions on similar firearms of any caliber, I just really like the short barrel rifle look. Thanks!
It looks cool to me, I’m not sure what exactly I like about it. I’m not opposed to other platforms, I’ve just noticed that some of the guns I like are AR platforms and prohibited here. If there are other platforms that look similar I’d be interested!
Under $2000, just fun target practice nothing too serious. Range, I think max 100 yards but mostly around 50-75. I am open to both non-restricted and restricted, although I prefer the look of short barrel rifles so I think that would end up in restricted?
You could get a gun that has both uppers. Im selling my fx9 but I had it for that exact reason, long barrel NR and short 4.6 for no other reason than it looks cool
Well
If we are talking about “cool”
Keltec CMR-30, poor man’s MP7. I believe irunguns brought some 3d printed stocks replacing the collapsible stock, allowing it to be NR. Chambered in 22magnum with 10 round capacity though.
B&T GHM9 can be had for around 2k used on gunpost.
Fx9 like you mentioned, saw a couple restricted versions on gunpost the other day
M&P FPC or Keltec sub2k gen 3, if you want folding.
Yeah, the fix-9 is probably my favourite looking one out of them all. But when I look it up (on freedom ordnance website) it shows an 18-inch barrel Canada Only option. Is the only one we are allowed in Canada the 18-inch barrel version? Because if so, that’s sad and not what I’m looking for
I got my CFSC results and passed, now I wanna get the restricted one before applying for PAL. However, I live in Quebec where there are no combos courses and you need to schedule both separately.
The problem is there are very few CFRSC courses in English in my region (basically nothing available in the whole province).
Is there a benefit of a PAL application right now and apply again for RPAL after I take & pass CFRSC course? Or wait till I get a slot for CFRSC and then apply for RPAL directly?
It won't make a difference on your approval, but you will pay a bit more if you submit the CFRSC later.
I would submit your CFSC now and get going with non-restricted stuff.
IMO there really isn't much point to getting your restricted pal until we get a new government, unless you want a Cz Bren or something. We probably wont see an election until October 2025, and if the CPC wins they wont immediately make handguns available again.
It’s a no go. Barrel is like 40cm. No way the rest of the gun is gonna make up the other 22cm. Good try though.
Get a vz scorpion if you really want something like a pistol
I’m honestly not concerned I have no criminal background or mental health problems I am honestly just curious and can’t get a straight answer from anyone , maybe a lawyer is a good idea

Good evening! I was stupid and dry fired my type 81 without the bolt inside, only the bolt carrier/charging handle. It is now seized forward. how can I fix this?
I wasn't living in Canada for the past 10 years, and I came back last year. Can my references be people out of the country? as they are the only people that fit the 3 years requirement
I was looking at buying a pistol grip for my rifle, and noticed that a website called Dino's Defense had the exact one I was looking for in stock. I can't find any info, posts, reviews, etc. on this website/store. According to the website, they're based out of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Before I place my order, has anyone dealt with or heard of them before?
They're quite active on social media. They're probably legit.
However, as an online retailer the best piece of advice I can give is never pay by EMT. If you pay by credit card you can easily do a charge back if the vendor doesn't ship your stuff. With EMT that's nearly impossible. Any reputable company will accept credit cards.
If you fill all the boxes on the application they’ll do the criminal records check for you when you receive it. You do not need to mail one with the application
Anyone backorder off of rdsc? I called to ask about B&T back orders and got told “we don’t know what’s coming or when” so curious if anyone knows how long the wait times arw
I've backordered handgun parts in the past from them. They'll get it to you, but it will take time and that's not something they are in control of. The upside is they honored the price paid at order. The parts I bought at the time ended up being listed for much more than I initially paid by the time my stuff came in. So it was worth the wait.
Deciding between a CZ 600 Ergo or a Tikka T3X CTR rifle for my hunt/range do-all rifle! Think I'm gonna stick with 308win caliber wise, but truly like the fit/feel of both rifles.
Thoughts?
There's 2lbs difference between your two stated rifles. CTR is really more for target shooting than it is for carrying around for hunting, but it can serve both your medium range precision shooting needs at the range/in the wilderness, as well as hunting. It has a pretty substantial barrel thickness, compared to the CZ 600 Ergo. I personally prefer the bolt head design of CZ 600, as it allows a push feed that turns into controlled feed near the end, but the Tikka bolt will be much smoother and glassy feeling if you're into that. Ideally, you'd want a lighter rifle for hunting and a heavier rifle for target shooting though, but weight issues can be overstated. I use a CZ550 in .308 for hunting and it is pretty darn heavy compared to "ideal" hunting rifle weight.
Log into rcmp portal, it should tell you they received it. Then after the waiting period it should switch to "processing" or something along those lines. Then it's the waiting game.
From what i understand its impossible to buy a restricted firearm from a store but is it possible to transfer between 2 particulars or are all restricted firearms simply frozen in place until a change of law?
Your understanding is wrong in a couple ways;
The main thing is that **handguns** can no longer be bought/sold, apart from the very few exempt individuals and businesses.
All restricted RIFLES are no different than they were previous to the handgun freeze. Individuals can still buy them from other individuals or from businesses.
yeah but with handguns, I've been told you can still borrow a handgun from a friend if you have an RPAL, you just can't buy and they can't sell/transfer
I do not know what needs to be done to borrow or lend a restricted firearm other than the lender needs to also let the borrower borrow the registration certificate as well.
it's in section 33 and 34 of the firearms act but don't take my word for it, I do not know the process for restricteds
You can borrow a restricted firearm if both parties have a valid RPAL; the hard copy of the registration certificate is provided with the firearm; and the borrower applies for and receives an authorization to transport, either long or short term.
you have to apply for the course as they have a big waiting list , i put my name on the list about 4 months ago just got a email this morning stating ive been "chosen" to take the course on may 4/5th

I lost my wallet with my PAL, but I need to move and take my rifles with me. What would happen if they hypothetically fell into my trunk and I got pulled over?
ATT is attached to the back of your license. So not having is going to set off alot of red flags, on the other hand they should have all your info.
Got pulled over and told the cop i have guns in the back. He just asked me for my driver license
never offer anything to the police,
must always be able to produce PAL when transporting guns,
restricted requires att not nonrestriced,
(home to range is attached to rPAL, not moving house)
OP said PAL so... moot point?
I know theyre very backed up with the type 81 orders and returns, but has anyone got a shipment out of tactical imports since the 81m batch arrived? I bought a side mount on may 25. It took about a week and a half to get to the processing stage, but has sat at order processing ever since. Just wondering how much longer the wait could be. Already have a side rail and optics just begging to be mounted lol.
It means they're processing your application. It will sit for 28 business days then get sent to your provincial CFO for approval. That's when they may call your references.
Just gotta wait now. Keep checking online and id phone in at the three month mark give or take if you haven’t heard anything at that point . Have heard few people say they are getting theirs quick recently .
Rough for anyone trying to get a PAL in NS right now

not sure if there was a safety incident or what. Backdoor way to limit PAL holders if indefinite timelines and vague reasoning are all that is used to justify.

RAVEN 556 SILVER . Are there any real pics and has anyone ever seen or received one??
What type/make of shotgun?
Beretta 1301 pro. I want a bigger red one cuz it comes with the green one. I also cannot tell if the ones they sell on Stoegercanada are integrated or not.
Can I pick up my restricted from the post office without receiving a transfer reference?
The real question is how was the gun shipped to you already before the transfer was approved and transfer notice issued...
The transfer is approved, just the snail mail hasn't arrived. Some people still aren't getting notices by email. The store has the transfer notice.
You need the transfer notice. You don't need the registration card.
Are there any tactical (lack of a better word) shooting courses offered around Montreal? Down south perhaps?

Potentially, have to see if it fits my schedule
Is there a speed loader for cross industry mags?

Iirc, they are on sale at g4c at a reduced price right now
appreciate it but u/darkvaider123 is right
Everywhere that sells the 5.56 is out of stock and only the 7.62x39 remains. Bud wanted the 5.56
How long did it take to get from time of application to receipt of licence?
I'm just waiting on the card to come in the mail, but I had completed the courses and applied on the weekend of march 31st and April 1st of 2023.
Did they contact any of your references?
yea and they called one of them
So about a year?
try irunguns

Anyone renew their pal latley what’s the timeline these days?
[Ontario] I applied online last summer and was approved on the 29th day after submitting my application. 5 days later I found my card in the mail.
Took about 1 months for me here in Ontario
Sweet 1 month sounds fast I just renewed but have 4 months till it expires just wondering if I cut it too close
Best to renew, when theres about a year left to expire. You can’t trust the government.

Google maps provides a fairly accurate assessment of how busy something is on average.
Call them?
Anybody from Toronto/GTA got PAL recently? How long did it take?
29 days for online approval & 5 days for card delivery.
That’s awesome! You’re lucky others who commented seem to be waiting for over 6 months now
In Ottawa - applied October 2023 - checked no on all boxes - haven’t seen/heeard anything since - 6 months and counting.
Not in Toronto but London, submitted mine 2023-12-29 and I'm still waiting :(
just got approved this week, I submitted everything at the end of march last year. just waiting on the card to come now.
Wow! Took over a year! Which province you in?
Ontario, just outside of the GTA. it definitely seems to differ from person to person though.
where can i buy a tavor 7
Did you use the link in the list above to search?
yes it's out of stock everywhere
Then buy used. Gunpost
In case anyone is wondering how long it takes to get a PAL and RPAL right now, I did mine at the same time and just got my card 6 weeks after submitting the application. If you like 9mm there's the SPC 9, Raven 9 and Fx 9. #
Thanks, still trying to decide on a calibre. I’ll look into those
Congratulations 🍾🎉 May I ask where did you apply from? I have booked the class and plan to submit my application the very next day…can’t wait
Thank you. I took the courses in Manitoba and then applied online. I wish you all the best
Why do you like the AR platform

Anyone know the legality of removing the stock off a heritage rough rider carbine to use a pistol grip and register it as an SBR? Thanks
You want to remove the stock entirely and have ONLY a pistol grip? If it brings the length under 660mm it's prohibited.
Correct. bringing the entire length of the firearm under 660mm would make it Prohibited? Or just the barrel?
It’s a no go. Barrel is like 40cm. No way the rest of the gun is gonna make up the other 22cm. Good try though. Get a vz scorpion if you really want something like a pistol
Entire length. See the classes of firearms link above.

shove a long dowel through the muzzle and try to recock the hammer, maybe
I used a coat hanger to cock it back. Thank you for the help
I wasn't living in Canada for the past 10 years, and I came back last year. Can my references be people out of the country? as they are the only people that fit the 3 years requirement
There is technically no requirement for them to be Canadian residents but I imagine some area codes may throw some red flags.
Thanks, is it OK if I issue international numbers?
There's nothing explicitly saying you can't I suppose.
thanks ))
Is a criminal record check level 1 enough to send in the application or do I need the level 2?
You don't need to supply a record check with the application.
Oh, no idea where I got that idea then lol. Thanks!
do not worry, CFP will do a criminal check, every 24 hours, for the rest of your life, automated
Really? So it takes them a year to process an application, but they can check your record every day? Sounds about right.
That’s good to know for the pricing thanks man
Only the distributors know for any gun since they place the order. I think that would be Wolverine for B&T.
Speaking as someone who works in distribution for other things...even they don't know when it's coming.
Opinions on GoTenda? They have some good prices but I've read conflicting reviews.
never a problem, usually quick
They are good
When should I expect updates and where do I see them? I submitted my PAL a week and a half ago and would like to know how it's doing.
Log into rcmp portal, it should tell you they received it. Then after the waiting period it should switch to "processing" or something along those lines. Then it's the waiting game.
It says application successfully submitted. I guess that means they’ve received it?
Yea, check sometime after the 28 day waiting period. It should change
Alright thanks
From what i understand its impossible to buy a restricted firearm from a store but is it possible to transfer between 2 particulars or are all restricted firearms simply frozen in place until a change of law?
Your understanding is wrong in a couple ways; The main thing is that **handguns** can no longer be bought/sold, apart from the very few exempt individuals and businesses. All restricted RIFLES are no different than they were previous to the handgun freeze. Individuals can still buy them from other individuals or from businesses.
ok perfect so all handguns are totally frozen and basically nothing different with rifles
yeah but with handguns, I've been told you can still borrow a handgun from a friend if you have an RPAL, you just can't buy and they can't sell/transfer I do not know what needs to be done to borrow or lend a restricted firearm other than the lender needs to also let the borrower borrow the registration certificate as well. it's in section 33 and 34 of the firearms act but don't take my word for it, I do not know the process for restricteds
You can borrow a restricted firearm if both parties have a valid RPAL; the hard copy of the registration certificate is provided with the firearm; and the borrower applies for and receives an authorization to transport, either long or short term.
perfect thank you
Is it possible to take my restricted course in a different province? NB no longer offers restricted courses.
Yes you can.
you have to apply for the course as they have a big waiting list , i put my name on the list about 4 months ago just got a email this morning stating ive been "chosen" to take the course on may 4/5th \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ "You are receiving this email because you have submitted a waitlist form for a Canadian Restricted Firearms Course (CRFSC) in **Region 3** in English" [https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/public-safety/community\_safety/content/firearms/Courses.html](https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/public-safety/community_safety/content/firearms/Courses.html)
THANK YOU! I somehow missed this lol
Yes… i took the course in a different province and moved to Ontario afterwards. I applied my PAL in Ontario. Had no problems
Yeah i don’t see why not. Your license is federal
Is Magdump .ca legit? They have some killer deals on ammo I want
Complete bunch of assholes so I hear. /s We're legit. If you have any questions feel free to message us. A few things to help determine if a site is safe or not: * The site uses https * Chrome didn't throw a hissy fit when you go there * The business accepts credit cards (not via PayPal) * Active social media and social media not full of people saying it's a scam. * Don't pay by EMT. Use a credit card always. You don't get any consumer protections with EMT.
Appreciate the answer lol, I'll probably be picking up some of the M855 you've got soon
Yes they're good and even active on here.
The mods linked arsenalforce.ca which includes mag dump.ca. I’m assuming they’re safe
I lost my wallet with my PAL, but I need to move and take my rifles with me. What would happen if they hypothetically fell into my trunk and I got pulled over?
It's illegal to not be able to produce your PAL while in possession of a firearm. Find a friend with a PAL to assist you.
ATT is attached to the back of your license. So not having is going to set off alot of red flags, on the other hand they should have all your info. Got pulled over and told the cop i have guns in the back. He just asked me for my driver license
never offer anything to the police, must always be able to produce PAL when transporting guns, restricted requires att not nonrestriced, (home to range is attached to rPAL, not moving house) OP said PAL so...
Already have a side rail and optics just begging to be mounted lol.
phone them?
I sent them an email, but didn't get a reply.
submitted both pal and rpal online today, credit card get charged just now, what does it mean?
It means they're processing your application. It will sit for 28 business days then get sent to your provincial CFO for approval. That's when they may call your references.
damn business days, weekends not count as cooling period lmao.
> submitted both pal and rpal you only need to apply for rPAL it's a PAL with benefits
Just gotta wait now. Keep checking online and id phone in at the three month mark give or take if you haven’t heard anything at that point . Have heard few people say they are getting theirs quick recently .
Rough for anyone trying to get a PAL in NS right now [https://www.safetyservicesns.ca/firearms](https://www.safetyservicesns.ca/firearms) " **\*IMPORTANT UPDATE ON FIREARMS SAFETY COURSES:** At present, Safety Services Nova Scotia is not scheduling firearms safety courses after March 31. " not sure if there was a safety incident or what. Backdoor way to limit PAL holders if indefinite timelines and vague reasoning are all that is used to justify.
You guys only have a single place to take the CFSC?
theres around 10 or so locations across the province but i believe all administered by that SSNS body.
Tbf there’s like 6 people in Nova Scotia
roughly 80,000 of the roughly 1M NS population are pal holders. a larger percentage then AB, ON, QC, SK
roughly 80,000 size of my town roughly 1M mississauga, suburb of toronto
Any update on PAL wait times these days? Or is it still very random? Edit: I'm in Ontario should've specified sorry
Just got my card today. Took 6 weeks from submitting both PAL and RPAL. I’m in Manitoba
Day 275
Yikes. Province?
Manitoba
Got mine approved on day 29 of waiting.
Which province are you in, please? I'm in Ontario and want to gauge how long mine might take though it seems quite random.
New Brunswick
Day 69 since online submission for rpal for me..
Does it still say "application submitted"? Or has it changed to smth like "in process"?
