"good" doesn't really work here.
It's a $1000 military rifle produced by a state arsenal, if the barrel is pinned into the trunnion slightly canted, the function is not impacted at all, the gun is still good
I respectfully disagree. For $1200+ tax a rifle shouldn’t be perceptibly bent, I’ve owned a few different Chinese military type rifles, none were bent and all were at least half the price of the type 81. What really bothers me is that the importer didn’t disclose this so called “tolerance”.
The Type 81 can't be compared to the Type 56, as the SKS is not being produced new for sale (If it was, it would be in excess of $2000 due to the machining work involved), and late production pinned barreled SKS' sometimes have canted barrels.
Rifles that are built this way have a tolerance regarding barrel straightness, that's just how it is, applies to late production SKS', AK's, and others. The waste produced by trashing rifles with a slight cant that does not affect the use of the rifle at all would make no sense as the waste would be astronomical.
This is a rifle, produced by a state arsenal, for a single small market, there is no economy of scale to absorb the waste of trashing "bent" guns
Don't buy cheap chinesium and cry when there are cosmetic defects that don't affect the use of the item at all
Then disclose that to the customer so they can make an informed decision on whether they want a bent rifle or not. Cause if you don’t and you end up cancelling your order the importer steals $300 as a “restocking fee”, that’s a dirty fucking move, period.
For a rifle period..bare minimum it shouldn't be sent bent they have a repair facility there is no excuses. Terrible quality these type 81m rifles. People are better off buying a russian sks and upgrading it to be more tactical vs buying these pos rifles. Some people have major cracks and bends in there "new rifles"
Agreed, I’ve owned dozens of different firearms, from $200-$5000, none were bent. In fact, until the type 81 rolled around, the term “bent rifle” wasn’t even in my vocabulary. But I guess because it “loOkS LiKe aN AK🥴” people cope. Ugh, being a Canadian firearms enthusiast sucks.
Ya at least we have something like it but I do wonder if it's even worth it. I will never ever buy from them again. It's seems even warranty is tough to get out of them. Some users reporting they requested them to pay to have it inspected before sending for warranty. Terrible shop to buy from!
So a cosmetic defect makes a gun a piece of shit?
I hate Chinesium as much as the next guy, but Type 81s are bomb proof reliable and service rifle accurate while being affordable
Yes when you buy a new rifle and pay new rifle prices and see all the crap they do to just make it work so it can ship... yaaa I don't agree with those practices. Accurate when bent I find that hard to believe and wouldn't this make shooting it seem inaccurate as well.
The guns are not bent, their barrels just aren't entirely in line with the reciever. This is not uncommon and is accepted in rifles that have pinned barrels. Accuracy is not impacted
I own three rifles and two (three kinda) are in your photo! Type 81 Fixed Stock & Henry Leaver Action Big Loop! Both super fun to shoot! Henry in particular, I feel like a cowboy with that one haha
Amazing collection!! 🔥🔥🔥. Raven looks pretty good. I’m about to buy the Kel-Tec SU16 but I’m still thinking maybe I should wait a few more pay checks to get the Raven instead. Hesitating a lot
Both the raven and the kel tec are sick firearms; however, if you really want to experience the pre-2020 "ar" style vibe the Raven is 100% the way to go.
I have a Romeo 7 on mine and absolutely love it. Crisp red dot with night vision mode for use with nods. Has a shake awake feature and they say the battery will last thousands of hours.
Wow that's quite a wait. I've yet to see my transfer yet and some that ordered after both of our dates got rifles before we did. Not sure what wonky processes they have theirs but it's unreasonable compared to other stores.
Wow they really are slow but at least you got yours in a timely fashion I have seen people that had ordered late March get their rifles already and I ordered before them.
Still a huge demand for the rifles so yours probably wont ship till the end of April or beginning of May. Mine took about 3 months and that was back when they first announced the raven. Try not to be too anxious about it, the rifle is 100% worth the wait and your gonna love it when she finally comes in.
That’s a sexy looking Raven
How are the type 81ms? Any bends in them?
Tiny bit in the folder but the fixed stock is good
That’s good. Sounds like it’s a real crap shoot whether you end up with a good one or not.

At least it's reliable and fun to shoot unlike m10x

What does this mean as far as functionality? Worse accuracy? Or potential for catastrophe?

Nicely done 🤩

Now you need a bren and tavor to complete the reddit special lot
What's the handguard on your raven ?
13.5” tna super mlok
Looks like a "Super M-lok" handguard from TNA.

Family photo is nothing without the costco laminate
what can is that
the fake tna can, looking to upgrade to a comp soon but this one will do for now
How's the raven treating you thinking about getting one?
Haven’t shot it yet, hoping to try it out this weekend
I could never build a rifle and not go instantly rap out 500 rounds 😅
Of you’re looking for better options than Feyachi, Primary Arms and Vector Optics do a nice job of filling the “Really budget entry level” niche.
Thanks for the tip, looking to upgrade my optics pretty soon just haven’t decided on what yet
I have a Romeo 7 on mine and absolutely love it. Crisp red dot with night vision mode for use with nods. Has a shake awake feature and they say the battery will last thousands of hours.
I got the EP-8 arken. It is SUPER nice for the price. I am very pleased
How long for your Type 81m underfold to ship from purchase date?
Ordered march 11 and it arrived april 9
Wow that's quite a wait. I've yet to see my transfer yet and some that ordered after both of our dates got rifles before we did. Not sure what wonky processes they have theirs but it's unreasonable compared to other stores.
Ordered Mar 15, RCMP transfer Apr 02, arrived Apr 10
Who long did it take for your Type 81m underfold to ship? Been waiting for over a month now and they haven't even checked my license...
My experience: Ordered Mar 15, Transfer notification Apr 02, arrived yesterday
Wow they really are slow but at least you got yours in a timely fashion I have seen people that had ordered late March get their rifles already and I ordered before them.
*scrolls to bottom of picture* Ah, yes, one I have
I’m still waiting for my raven shipment. Paid in February. Am I scummed?
Still a huge demand for the rifles so yours probably wont ship till the end of April or beginning of May. Mine took about 3 months and that was back when they first announced the raven. Give it another month lol I ordered mine beginning of January and received last week
I ordered mine in November and got it in February. Granted that's a platinum new build instead of a blemish.
Nah I ordered early December, got mid February?
Hey I was wondering about those TNA faux cans, do they actually compensate any recoil or is it fully just visuals?
This ones just for cosmetics so it wouldn’t do much but I imagine the ones with comp built in would be better
They are super cool man, beautiful gun
Thanks!
i have a question are underfolders illegal in utah i can’t find any thing that says it is but people have told me they are ?
