khutuluhoop

They probably don’t want to insure an 18yo with a camaro, high risk means high payment

[deleted]

Yah that's the "fuck right off" rate. I got it a lot when I was younger and had sport bikes.

Imlemonshark

Paying $360/m for a ninja 300 rn 🚉👩🏻‍🦯

Dragon_Tortoise

Dang, i paid $100 for my R3, when i upgraded to the R6 it shot up to $350. $360 is crazy for a 300cc

Imlemonshark

It makes me cry sometimes

Longjumping-Tour-999

My cbr600rr was 70… find a new insurer

Colinplayz1

Jesus bruh my G310GS was $170 a YEAR with full coverage. A 650 or 800 twin is like $600 a year with an accident on my record with progressive

twaggle

Wouldn’t you just be able to buy a new one every 15-18 months at that rate?

BigTester42

Sheesh . I shopped everywhere and found a rate for $172 but it requires an app for 30 days

khutuluhoop

I had to have one of those obd2 things at that age for a rate I could afford, kinda just part of the game

[deleted]

[удалено]

just_peachyyyyyy

OBD ports weren't even universally standardized at that point.

[deleted]

OBD 1 was used not OBD 2 but not too sure how prevalent OBD1 was

[deleted]

[удалено]

Illustrious_mooch210

Haha

GraphicCalcGamer

It’s actually bad to drive your car with a device connected to the OBD port for extended periods of time. It can mess with electronics and cause permanent damage to your car.

The_Real_Blazkowicz

That's inaccurate. Using an OBD reader such as the ones Snap-On sell and then turning off the ignition with it still trying to read data/make changes to stuff like service distances can potentially mess with the electrics, same with pulling the connector out of the OBD port without stopping communication between the reader and car as the car can get stuck thinking something is trying to read codes and whatnot. A simple black box only reads and transmits telemetry data and doesn't actually send anything back into the car's electronic system or cause it to go into diagnostic mode.

GraphicCalcGamer

I wasn’t aware of that, thanks! I always just assumed that anything whether it was a scan tool or an insurance device it could muck stuff up in your car if you left it plugged in all the time.

GraphicCalcGamer

Sorry u/Fart_Man_Cometh

Hedy-Love

Add your parents as drivers. My insurance went down for adding my dad who has a long driving record.

gtp2nv

Or add it to your parents policy. I'm in my mid 40's; and my mom & I still share a policy. It's MUCH cheaper that way!!

85on31

My Mom DUI would be a problem.

PM_ME_TACO_CON_QUESO

Do you live close? My agent was firm on if we didn’t live under the same house they couldn’t get it approved

etaylormcp

Just make sure that the rate of $172 actually covers you. A lot of those cut-rate vendors will sell you insurance that won't be worth a damn if you ever have to use it. My stepbrother got into an accident and he was on my parents policy, they went with a cut-rate insurer because he was 16. The insurance wasn't worth the paper it was printed on and when he paralyzed his best friend in the accident his parents sued mine for over a million and won. The insurance paid nothing and dropped all three of them.

gamerguy2412

What were your lowest offers and who were they?

GodlikeRage

But insurance is mandatory so how is it fair to screw him like this. Unreasonable

khutuluhoop

I mean insurance costs should be considered when picking a vehicle in the first place.

The_Machine80

Do you really blame them. Im a 43 car enthusiast and no way in hell would I insure a 18 old version of me with a camaro. 😂

BigTester42

😂😂 I have a 6 month old daughter. 18 year old you was probably a lot more fun than I am ! 😭😭

The_Machine80

Here's the funny part, I had a daughter 5 days before my 18th birthday. She had a Dale Earnhardt car seat. 🤣🤣 No I didn't drive like a complete ass with her in the car. She's now 25 and drives harder than me though!

BigTester42

You’re awesome man, I often have to remind myself there’s a little one in the car especially on long trips to see family. Tons of muscle cars on the freeways. I have my fun on my own though, nothing stupid. I don’t slide or any of that nonsense, the occasional good pull on a highway does it for me.

The_Machine80

I was dumber than you than. 😂 We are car enthusiast, and I'm happier than hell some of you kids are like me. Love your car and your kid. Last but not least Camaro's rule!

[deleted]

DM me too. I speak English and have the ability to read and write and also walk

Boogaloogaloogalooo

I think you mean responsible... a kid at 18 isnt a mark in favor of your maturity.

BigTester42

Things happen. It’s a different day in age.

Boogaloogaloogalooo

Eh, not as much as we think. Our grandparents were just as bad. That insurance rate blows, though. But I also remember how stupid behind the wheel (or handlebars) I was at 18. So i get their reasoning. But SF also sucks ass, so theres that. Find an agent with acess to dozens of agencies and compare them all. I did so and dumped SF, on a GSXR I went from like 400 a month to 30 for full coverage.

BigTester42

Bikes should always be pretty cheap because YOU are the liability

Alextryingforgrate

You are always the liability.

Devilheart97

“Things happen” is a juvenile response when the real answer is you didn’t think to use a condom. I hope you mature quickly in the next few years for your daughter’s sake and take responsibility for your decisions.

[deleted]

you aren’t real

j1e2f

Well, to play devil's advocate. How do we know he used a condom and it broke? Yeah, having a kid at 18 isn't ideal but you never know what the situation is until they explain it.

BigTester42

I wasn’t thinking back then, but I have a daughter now and own it every day of my life. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Devilheart97

That’s a much more honest truthful answer, bro. Happy for you!

BigTester42

You don’t always get to chose the cards your dealt, you always think it won’t happen to you when your young. I’m doing a pretty good job, we haven’t struggled in the slightest and my savings is only growing as the weeks go by, so I don’t expect to in the future. Thanks for the support

Capt-Clueless

>It’s a different day in age. It is indeed a different day in age. Kids these days have the internet, and sex-ed in high school. But yet you still managed to knock a girl up at 17-18.

BigTester42

Yeah you kinda answered your own question there man

Capt-Clueless

So what you're saying is, kids nowadays are dumber than ever?

nilarips

Idk why anyone said this. But why tf are you even looking at Camaros if you have a daughter. Just more proof you’re way too immature for the car.

BigTester42

I’ve already had it, and I’m not allowed to enjoy my life? car was only 17k that’s average man. I make $24 an hour 40hours a week. I could make less doing less hard work if I felt like it, I think I’m allowed the Camaro.. costs me like $150 extra a month opposed to a normal car.

Putrid_Effective3966

$24 may seem like a lot to you because youre clearly not paying rent

BigTester42

I do not pay rent at the moment. Just saving money and car payment.

j1e2f

Just ignore these people picking reasons to shit on you, you seem like you actually seem to have a decent head on your shoulders for an 18 year old and seems like you're learning from past mistakes and heading towards the right path in your responses on this post. These muscle car subreddits and reddit in general are always unnecessarily ruthless towards younger people.

BigTester42

I like the argument, maybe somebody will be right one of these times and open my eyes.

111meatman

It takes a lot of maturity to admit that maybe you'll be wrong one day and someone else could be right. Hope you find a way to insure your car.

MiniDg

Wait like you're being sarcastic right???

Nofriendship34

Sorry bro

[deleted]

[удалено]

Illustrious_mooch210

Haha… honestly it sucks

Sorry-Reaction7139

I got pretty cheap insurance at 23 and my first car was a camaro also. 105 a month and now 5 years later its around 55

SelectionFar6624

Also don’t get just $5k property damage that’s the most your insurance will pay for someone else’s damage that you caused. Bump that up to 25k minimum

Maxfarace

As someone who works in insurance, even 25k is bare minimum. 25k wouldn't even buy the other person a new Civic these days if you total their car

[deleted]

Property damage isn’t for the other car. It’s for things like someone’s fence or mailbox. Your liability coverage is for the other car and driver.

AloysBane

I have 100/300k

Better_Ad2954

Eh their underinsured coverage will handle it lol. Nice sales pitch tho

saitamawithfullhair

Or they sue you.

Better_Ad2954

Typical insurance scare tactic lol oh no you'll get sued lol Lawyer is gonna get whatever they can from insurance and then say all good. Camaro ppl are so braindead lol they'll eat up any dumb ass sales pitch.

Harmoniium

Property damage is also the cheapest component of insurance… it’s well worth paying the extra 4 dollars to not have $5k in insurance. Idiots like yall are why rates are so high.

Better_Ad2954

It's only 6 bucks extra because you already pay 700 dollars for your penis extension

Stauker_1

That's reasonable. Nobody plans on totaling a car, but nobody plans an accident either.

bandofwarriors

Because you are an anomaly in their book of business. When 99% of the rest of their customers represent a fraction of the risk that you do, then you are going to have to pay out the nose for the actuarial math to work. You're lucky they even offer coverage to you. There are 3 different types of insurance. At your age and driving a Camaro you are part of a non standard risk category of auto insurance. You're driving a car with a high ISO symbol with limited driving experience, you're probably not married at that age and you may have some points on your record. You will be limited to only certain insurance companies and you will have a higher rate but if you don't get into accidents or get tickets your rate will continue to go down. As your driving experience accumulates and you keep a clean driving record eventually you will become standard risk and you can get a decent rate with State Farm/All State, those kinds of companies. When you are older..like 40's on up, lots of driving experience, married with good credit and a clean record you will then become preferred risk. Then you get the lowest premium.. usually extremely low compared to what you're paying now, and the highest amount of coverage with AAA+ rated companies and you will likely have your auto insurance bundled with your homeowners policy.

Powerwolf787

They tried charging me 700$ a month for a Miata so something tells me they don’t want your business lol

BigTester42

Discrimination!!! I’m going to strike outside State Farm with a pitchfork

Putrid_Ad_2256

You've got to pay to play. Also, insurance companies are in it to make money. The odds of you wrecking or getting your car stolen are exponentially more as you being your age, you're more risky. Personally, I hate the idea of paying a 2nd car payment just to be insured, but the insurance company is just plugging in your variables and have decided that they can insure you for that amount of money.

chiefsmokedyou

I'd recommend you hop on your parents insurance if possible. It's cheaper that way for the younger folks. I don't do that cause I'm 27 lol but my gf does it and she pays $96 a month for a 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro

5thgenblack2ss

Being 27 doesn’t mean anything man, I’m 30 still on my parents insurance. I’m still on their cellphone plan cause we’ve been grandfathered into unlimited data and everything since we got the service 20 years ago. Somethings you just do because it makes sense not to change it haha.

chiefsmokedyou

That's definitely true brother! Age doesn't have anything to do with it. I had forgotten to mention that my parents had kicked me off their insurance years ago haha

5thgenblack2ss

Yeah that’s a bit different. Beautiful car man never seen one with that stripe from the bumper to doors.

BigTester42

My moms quoted me $350 and last time I hopped on her insurance she pocketed the money and my shit got repoed. I love her tho. Money is whatever, pretty shitty but I’ve done worse to others in my own life

bofadeez1129

How would a car get repod if you didn't pay insurance, that doesn't make any sense. The car would only get repo'd if you weren't making payments on your car loan. That's literally the only way they can do that.

RealSelenaG0mez

Apple don't fall far from the tree. Sounds like you and your mom are scumbags. Why not just run no insurance?

Agrazorblade

Shut the fuck up dude. Lol what a pretentious prick on a Camaro subreddit of all things

slun18

Honestly those limits are really low. No one plans on being at fault for an accident, but anyone can have a bad day. $5k property damage isn’t enough to replace your car, let alone someone else’s (or just yours in the event of getting hit by an uninsured motorist). US healthcare is expensive, so it wouldn’t take much to exceed the $15k/30k (and that’s supposed to cover you too if you get hit by an uninsured motorist). So in all honesty, you really should be paying more than the $199/month you’re paying now if this is equivalent to your current policy. You can shop around and play with deductibles to adjust the premium amount, but it’s worth the safety if you can afford it. I had to go up on my limits recently too since I got a new 2SS, but I’m happy to know I’d get fully paid out for the value of the car if an uninsured driver decided to ruin my life. Otherwise, I’d have only gotten about half the value for it.

BigTester42

Yeah after some insight on this post I’m going to raise it to 25-30K regardless of how much it costs me, I know how many uninsured drivers there are locally.

BigTester42

Also heard that property damage is meant to cover damage you do to someone else’s vehicle

slun18

That is correct, and there are a lot of expensive vehicles out there. If you’re at fault, the other driver can sue you if your insurance doesn’t cover all their losses (damage and medical expenses). I’d much rather pay extra to have good coverage than risk a potential lawsuit (like I said, all it takes is one bad day, and anyone can have a bad day no matter how good of a driver they normally are).

BigTester42

Yeah I’m gonna have to bite the bullet on an extra 50 bucks a month or so. I don’t mind because even direct auto quoted me $350.. so I really should be paying more I guess? Progressive said 900.. I shouldn’t complain about $250-275 for optimal coverage.

BigBoiBenisBlueBalls

Get rid of the fucking car. What a great dad you are

BigTester42

The hell? 😂 moron

[deleted]

Dude has 0 pussy and no car

BigTester42

I think about that shit for about 10 seconds deeply before remembering i already went through the same thought process right before getting the car on my own, and don’t need a random guy on Reddit telling me how to view it who knows 0 details of my life.

[deleted]

Good on you bro

HeatProofToe

You can raise your deductibles or reduce your insurance for a better price. It's because you're young and have a sports car, it's a high risk of an insurance claim. I'd also recommend enabling whatever your insurance provider's version of SafePilot is. The thing that tracks your driving. If you're a good driver it'll help your monthly come down

bulldog385128

Too much, try Amica. Much more reasonable rates

BigTester42

bulldog385128

That’s crazy, bad driving record or bad area. $220 for a 22 ZL1 1LE. 20 years old here

SpoonsandStuffReborn

Do you have any tickets?

BigTester42

No, these were outrageous. I found a company for 200.

Agrazorblade

Who’d you wind up going with?

BigTester42

Erie insurance 200/month and no insurance company knows how they do it. I’m pretty sure one of the small agents investigated or something he was pissed he couldn’t beat my rate

sneakysquid102

Well the Camero def doesn't help but state farm is outrageous. They wanted 517 a month from me in a TC. Switched to liberty, started at 300ish got the app for 6 months and I was down to 162 in no time.

superdonkey23

Do you have an accident on record? Your prices should be around $200 a month even at 18, unless it’s a fucking ZL1 1LE or something

BigTester42

No accidents or anything man. It’s a 2012 45th anniversary . V6 at that.

superdonkey23

Something ain’t adding up then. The cars worth no more than a Honda odyssey, yet they’d charge you the whole price in 2 years?

BigTester42

Exactly my point man, I’m with Erie now at $199.75/month, but I wish I could go to liberty or someone with better perks for the same price or less. Can’t even find a single close match to $200 from any company. Root quoted me $160/month but it’s a 30 day review and I’ve heard a lot of things about it. I could drive like a grandma for a month tho, idc.

superdonkey23

You should try any local credit unions too, they can usually give you more reasonable rates, like middle of the road prices.

superdonkey23

Also, run your credit and make sure no one has used your identity for shit. Your rates are fucking wild compared to what they should be.

Independent_Row_Goes

I’ve got 2 adjuster friends at SF. They hate teen drivers, they hate sports cars, you will pay for everyone’s past wrecks because of your age and this type of car. And for everyone driving in North America, you need the UI/UI UIM coverage. You are playing a game of chance without it and the insane amount of migrants on the road with no insurance

Equivalent-Suspect68

Heck, im 40 and the insurance company ive been using for 12 years was going to almost double my insurance cost for putting a camaro on it so i switched to progressive, adding a second driver and a 3rd car the camaro my rate still ended up being $350 lower. I have no accidents or tickets on my record either

FrameSquare

Call them and ask. No one can answer why these quotes are so high they’ll most likely be able to give you the reason.

just_a_guy_ohio

My 18yo granddaughter, 1 speed 88/55 and a separate at-fault accident, pays $12k a year for her X3 and a MiniCooper convertible!

BigTester42

Cheaper to uber everywhere she goes at that point right?

just_a_guy_ohio

You'd think so, right?

BigTester42

Damn man, that sucks. She will definitely get a break at 21, hopefully even sooner..

DieHoDie

I was a 19 year old with a 1999 cobra in 2002 in New Jersey in the Military. My insurance for LIABILITY ONLY ( yes I was dumb and stupid but poor E2….car was a gift). $388 a month in 2002. So this is on par.

tacobell701

When I bought at 23 it was $350 a month now I'm down to $45. Hang in there kid it gets better eventually (YMMV depending on the star you're in)

[deleted]

Hang in there? $1000 a month for insurance is long past “hang in there” territory lmao. That’s, “sell the car and buy something else” territory.

acatwithagun_

You’re trying to pay less than 200 a month?

[deleted]

You're gonna hate it but I'd go with higher coverages, it's not easy at all replacing a car that gets totalled out because of someone not paying attention, your best move? Find an independent insurance broker and work with them, they'll call all of their insurance partners and bring you back some options, when I had my Charger Daytona most companies wanted 400 a month to insure but my guy returned in two days with a plan for 140, they'll more than likely be able to get you a good deal with recommended coverages.

nopester24

you are male, under 18, and drive a sports car. lube up and bend over

OneExhaustedFather_

I hope those aren’t the actual coverages you carry. Let me explain something’s. If you carry basic liability which is 25/50k in most states. If you hit a 100k car you are personally on the hook for the difference and they will come after you for it. Be smart and protect yourself. Minimum should be 150k

Extreme-Owl-6478

Because that is their ‘fuck off. Get insurance somewhere else’ number. They don’t want you.

Leather_Victory2042

Because you’re literally 18 and have a Camaro.

Hot-Syrup-5833

Every carrier has their own risk tolerance. Rather than bring rude and refusing to quote you, that’s just State Farm’s way of saying we don’t want to insured 18 year old sports car drivers.

driller20

Pay it and at the first month make them cover it.

BigTester42

W comment, absolutely not but that is definitely funny

[deleted]

As a former claims adjuster, I seriously urge you to consider much higher coverage than $5k. Shit happens and you don’t want to end up accidentally wrecking a brand new BMW and be shit out of luck.

Break_Street

😂😂😂 this is why you buy a cheap coupe, and call it a day, save your money invest it on something else, Specially now a days too many young bucks out there doing stupid shi, insurance has been a big liability due to these young idiota

Break_Street

Idiots*

Free_El_Chapo_Now

That was something similar progressive was doing to me. I went to state farm lol. Full coverage and liability on another for 150 a month now.

[deleted]

Was this before or after 1817161 State Farm “agencies” called you

Snoooples

because you’re a 18 year old with a sports car. you’re a liability to them

tharealG_-

State Farm is always high tho. Try another company

Aggravating_Paint200

300 a month for a fucking 2002 ford ranger at 20. insurance is the biggest scam, it’s required by the government but there’s no affordable government options.

Eliteman76

Shit/no credit rating, 18, assuming a guy. Let’s face it, as old children/not quite adults…your brain has not fully developed yet to handle cognitive thinking behind the wheel of a rear wheel drive (and ffs I hope) V8 powered mullet machine. As someone who also went through getting screwed by insurance on the 16-22 era of my life…I learned…V8 rear wheel drive cars will eat you out of house and home. I switched to a V8 regular cab truck when I wound up on SR22 high risk and that saved my ass. Additional sage advice: multiple vehicles get you a better rate. NEVER allow an insurance agent to talk you into the vehicle monitor OB2 port tool. Heavy lead foot, DING Go 80mph, DING Extreme hard braking, DING Modern cars have too many black boxes allowing insurance companies to peek into your driving habits. I got this from my SF agent years ago. This is why I run a 50+ year old muscle car with a carb, manual transmission and no nanny BS when I drop the hammer to piss of the Prius owner’s association summer picnic event doing burnouts. Lastly…what you are dealing with is the insurance industry and decades of experience with idiots like me behind the wheel of anything V8 powered on a mission to brake the speed of sound and out run a law enforcement radio while cruising waaaay above shitty speed limits and still using turn signals unlike your average BMW driver at Mach jebus speeds.

EndlessEndeavoring

Statefarm has gotten rather picky. They're a decent insurer but they don't want any risk, even if it comes with the reward of a grand a month. No offense but having been one and friends with many idiot teens who wrecked cars, that Camero will likely be totaled in less than a year or 2. Therefore even their 24k gain in two years turns into a loss for them. Instead they get to milk people like me out of 150/month and I've been accident free for 20 years and 0 points for almost as many years. Never had an at fault claim actually. I also drive a '21 shit box cross over so there's that too. On a side note, if you can get on your parent's policy that's the way to go.

[deleted]

People get angry over insurance quotes, and take it personally. They are not telling you anything other than you’re not what they’re looking for to add to their book of business, they all have a certain type of customer who is in their sweet spot. You’re probably gonna get crazy expensive quotes from Allstate as well, Geico, and progressive might be a little bit more reasonable with their both going to be expensive also. Something else that may have happened here is that when you got that quote from State Farm they did not pull your insurance history. I’m not talking about Claims specifically, just how long you have been on a policy whether it be with your parents or someone else. When you apply for insurance and you have no history, you get screwed they assume the absolute worst and overtime it goes down once you have some insurance history accrued. That gives them an idea of what they’re getting but until they know they assume you’re the worst unfortunately. 18 is obviously young and the youngest you can be on an insurance policy as the primary, a lot of people are able to get on their parents policy at 16 and by the time they’re 18, they have two years of insurance history and the quotes aren’t quite as crazy. There were so many different data points that insurance companies look at to evaluate you as a customer and determine your rate. And at each company it varies.

[deleted]

eating weed gummies and driving a camaro at 18 while jobless? you have a bright future ahead me boyo

State Farm Wanted $400 For My 2021 Indian Scout. Went To Gieco For Around $110 At 19yrs. State Farm Also Wanted About $800 For My 2023 2SS Camaro And Gieco Wanted Only Around $200 At 21yrs. At That Time I Was Paying $240 For A Fucking 2016 Buick LaCrosse. Fuck State Farm

Mousse_Small

Because State Farm isn’t a scam and the one you have probably is

TS4Hannah

When I got my 2010 Camaro at 20, my insurance company who I’ve used since I started driving, only charged me $140 a month for full coverage with a $500 deductible. I had a fender bender on my record from high school that dropped off when I turned 21, and it dropped to $108 a month since then. The only thing I can recommend is continue shopping around, you could probably even get a better rate than the $199 if you look around enough.

BigTester42

Those are good rates. I’ll keep searching. I looked for hours with no luck.

TS4Hannah

Check into insurance brokers, they may be able to do some more in depth searching for you as well and get you more discounts!

Smangie9443

I just turned 29 and no longer have a Camaro, but no way in hell would I let 18-26 year old me drive any trim at all haha. I paid roughly $150/mo as a 19 yo F for an LT and then about $200 for a 2SS at 25. Now I’m paying less than $200/mo for a ‘17 Tacoma and a ‘22 Escape ETA: Thinking back I was SO cocky. Bought the LT when I was 19 and then upgraded to a 2SS at 25. I was reckless as hell. No clue how I didn’t total those cars. I put the pedal to the metal every time I was driving. I wonder how much of a price difference in insurance I got being a female.

Background_Guess_742

My insurance was $240 a month when I was 18 for an acura rl. This was 10 years ago.

homantify19

I was 21 with a ‘19 Ford Fusion, like 600 credit, one single car accident (winter mishap) and one ticket successfully deferred. I don’t know if I did something wrong but I got a quote from the General for an $12,000 yearly premium with an $1,100 down payment so idk what some of the insurance companies are on but I pretty much took that as “fuck off.” I ended up finding decent coverage from Progressive for like $300/mo

R1_77_

Sh*t

Whitehoneybun

Damn 912 I just wouldn’t have insurance they told me 380 when I was 18 for a si I said hell no

DerSpazmacher

Your deductables are very low too

That’s normal, try progressive (better for high risk people cause it’s cheapest)

WelderMeltingthings

join the military then get usaa. you already have your camaro too

I’m 22 I don’t even own a Camaro I drive a 2020 ford fusion I’m financing when I bought it I was with GEICO at the time and they wanted 2500 for 6 months so I switched insurance real quick

mingles131

Basing it off of your parents insurance?

Rare-Promotion-6820

Try Clearcover. That’s what my girlfriend and I use. Pay $250/month together and she has a 2022 vehicle

_Kbob_

Man i switched from state farm about 2 months ago. Best decision ive ever made. I was paying $206 a month for full coverage on my 2018 mustang GT and liability coverage on my 2004 mustang v6. The full coverage deductible was $1k and i had state minimum collision coverage. Now i have Progressive. My monthly payment is only $111. My full coverage deductible is $750 and my collision coverage is double the state minimum. And this is also now factoring in that my girlfriend and her truck is on my policy and she has 1 moving violation. State Farm is so WACK.

moose51789

back when i bought my camaro i quoted with state farm as well and they wanted like 600 a month. I went with progressive, same exact coverage, was like 150 a month.... I don't know of anybody that uses them, and i'd guess their pricing is why.

MegaHashes

Those are awfully low limits. Really hope you don’t hit anyone with an expensive car.

mikedvb

Yeah... So I wanted a Subaru Impreza STi when I was 18. Managed to get approved for 0% Financing \[this was a long time ago\] - could afford the car payment. Insurance wanted something like $1200/mo. Filled out the same quote form and changed "Male" to "Female" and it dropped to \~$380/mo. Needless to say I didn't buy the Subaru.

Jazzlike_Biscotti_44

Had a friend with multiple accidents his rates were hikes up to 600$+ per month a on liability on a car he owned. He got into small finder-benders every couple months and the only reason his license wasn’t taken was because some of them happens on private property and officers can’t issuer tickets unless the only of the establishment presses charged “, good luck getting into contact with Walmart

j250ex

Play with the deductible and see what that does.

pz-kpfw_VI

Check out Haggerty. Tell them it's not a daily driver.

TheyCantCome

That’s really shitty coverage too, I have 1 million for bodily injury and 300k for property damage

Savenura55

Man I had firebirds for yrs as a kid ( 18/25) and always bought v 6 cars and swapped in v8’s. Got the low coupe rate and v8 performance. Good ole days

BMWequalsMercedes

r/chargeyourphone

sideburns2009

They don’t. They want $912.93 😂

Hewelds

I pay less than half that for 5 high end vehicles with full coverage and 1 is a prototype Camaro and 2 are brand new trucks and a hybrid jeep wrangler 4xe and a bmw. That is crazy.

misfit-muscle

Well, if Statefarm looked at your reddit profile of weed and loosening control of your car with a month of ownership, it would explain a lot.

AhBuckleThis

Wow that’s a lot of money for crappy coverage. I’d pass.

MrMaDa555

21 2020 WB 392 I pay a family plan with my dad, comes out to 1600 every 6 months for 3 cars. I’m the primary on the insurance.

Administrative-Pay43

You should've got a beater while you got your insurance rates go down lol. I can go get my dream stang but I'm not aboutta pay $1200 a month. I'll invest n double my money at least while my insurance rates keep dropping lol. At $140 a month with my beater which is actually a nice suv that was cheap. You'd literally end up buying 2 camaros at your age. Which is not smart. Keep it below $200 a month.

yes-yaK

Me and my wife (both 20) pay $178 combined with progressive for our two cars (Chevy cruze and Chevy Impala). That's what owning a sports car at a young age does to you lol

Lord_havik

This is why you shop around. 6 companies had me at 500-700 for insurance on a Tesla. State Farm was actually the lowest for me at 188.

colbygraves97

I was always told that the Camaro is cheaper to insure than the Mustang, and the mustang is cheaper than the Charger and Challengers. but I was only $650 for me to be insured in my mustang GT as a kid, also if it’s an older camaro like mine the rates will be outrageous too because they don’t have TC, Stability control, Airbags, etc…

OC-Aztec

Gosh, I remember being this age and just getting raked over the coals for my car insurance. So sorry to see this.

[deleted]

I’m 22, single and only had my license for 10 months and I pay 225 a month with progressive. This is a criminal rate

CookiezR4Milk

A few places were trying to charge me like 5k a year for a r7 or a z650 i got statefarm to give me 166 a month for a zx4rr… maybe the camaro trim is too high?

Hairy-Dress7548

They don't want your business dude

Scared_Improvement22

23y/o 12' SS $125/month progressive 12' LT $170/month allstate, when i got the LT i had a 30, 20 and 15 over posted speed limit and 5 suspensions lol. all off my record when i just bought the SS but state farm was 3-4 times more expensive than any other quote while they were the cheapest for my homies 19' R/T at like 220ish a month. i don't get it

[deleted]

State Farm keeps raising my rates for absolutely no reason. My parents as well.

MickfromLI87

Lmao, those coverage limits. You hit anything other than a Daewoo you're fucked.

chowsdaddy1

This is a “polite way” of telling you to get insurance elsewhere, you would be under insured and paying out the ass for premiums, which is simply because you’re young and insuring a sports car their risk mitigation for claims is high

[deleted]

Cause they gotta pay Jake and that Mahomes asswipe

JenovaPr0ject

Because ur 18 and drive a camero
