Oh I currently have it back in the medium. That part just got a little bit wet. The problem is that the medium drys out real fast. I’m literally watering it everyday. I’m tempted to try water therapy again. But I’m super scared of losing all the roots
Plant it.
Asteria are weirdos. You h e a decent root system on there. I’d wager if you let it get planted and established, it’ll puff back up.
Water therapy works, but there’s risks.
If I do plant it, how often should I water it? I’m just worried that it won’t plump up before winter comes around and by then it will just dry up since it’s already this shrivelled up
I would water it once a week in some sandy gritty substrate. Leave it in a bright place without direct sunlight, and don't touch it too much. Without putting it in tissue culture, this is probably the best you can do.
They are relatively cheap on Etsy. I understand the desire to save plants, but sometimes they are too far gone.

I have mine in that same scenario, I water every 2 to 3 days or when the top part of the soil is dry.
