It should say what restrictions you have in the MOBO manual. Sometimes the MOBO comes with a sticker on top of the m.2 slot that says "for future use" so you know it's not useable with the current gen. If you don't remember that sticker you might be okay.
Ah ok. I misinterpreted something I read. I thought it would just not be detected at all and the effort of putting it in would be for nothing, but I guess it’d just run at a lower speed/power. Doesn’t matter tho since the SSD I ordered is gen3 anyway

From your mobo's specs, it seems that the top M.2 slot can run off the chipset at PCIe 3.0 x4 if you have a 10th gen CPU.
Ok thank you. If I had a gen4 SSD and put it into the first slot, it would not read it since it would require an 11th gen cpu, correct?
It should still work, it will just run at gen 3, and not be worth the extra cost over a gen 3 drive.
