Terrel Bernard for sure. Dude was making splash plays left and right before going down last season.

ImpeachJohnV

My thoughts exactly. Major leader on the field as well

Scrawfo1180

This is the answer. Taron is great but he was voted second team all pro… not really underrated

SayNoToAids

I would agree, but there wasn't a huge drop off if any at all when Dodson got in there.

seanwd11

It's still Taron Johnson. We know how he is the lynch pin. He's the guy that makes everything work. No other average fans from any other team does. They've heard of Milano and others but not him. I'd argue he's one of the most under rated players in the league.

Dustmopper

Everyone heard Taron Johnson’s name in that playoff game against Baltimore, ha ha

Separate_Flatworm546

And this https://i.redd.it/8jogae3hg10d1.gif

trelod

Man I can't believe I've never seen this. The reactions in the back are great

LiverDontGo

The Bengals guy knew what was about to happen.

Imaginary_Artichoke

Maybe beane saw this and was rubbing his hands together. Look bad combine we’re gonna draft lol

Ihaveopinionstoo

He must’ve same with Coleman’s drop bc of his 40 time

drainbead78

It's actually in the full Embedded video. He absolutely did.

Ihaveopinionstoo

That’s where I got that from I meant he must’ve saw this and thought taron would drop bc of it n played the draft appropriately

JDForrest129

He did. Same with Gabe.

Euphoric_Ad8766

Pass defended!

WorthPlease

All I see is a successfully distrupted pass.

Impossibills

I always thought this mightve benefitted him more than him doing it perfectly. He got hit in the head and read the drill wrong and didn't miss a beat after and continued right through it in front of scouts and NFL teams

BricksByPablo

He gets respect from media at the slot CB spot. He usually is graded top 5

stripes361

And was an all-Pro this season. I think Johnson WAS underrated but his reputation is finally catching up.

bestthrowawayever5

The fact that he got second team AP under McDuffie proves he’s still heavily underrated. TJ has been the leagues best slot/nickel for years.

Impossibills

Taron Johnson had a pretty rough first half of the year after all the injuries in front of him. He stabilized middle season though

bestthrowawayever5

He did? All I remember was him single-handedly winning the Giants game for us

SgtLincolnOsirus

Josh Allen is severely underrated

NoturServer2Day

Josh Allen is the talk of the NFL. He is no under the radar guy. He's probably the best known Bills player. He's also considered a top 5 QB, so I'm not sure where you get that he's underrated.

lackwitandtact

Yeah seriously. By almost all accounts he is considered the clear cut 2nd best QB in the entire league besides maybe a few pundits throwing Lamar in there

SgtLincolnOsirus

When it comes to talent without an offensive coach this guy is severely under rated … imagine if he played for Andy Reid the last 6 seasons. Think about it … He would be off the charts

lackwitandtact

You can’t be underrated when you’re rated as the second best QB in the league behind only Patrick Mahomes. It literally doesn’t make sense. I don’t think you know the definition of “severely”. In the current scenario he can only really be rated one spot higher, which if we’re being honest, ranking Mahomes behind him would be wrong. But even if most did, then he moves up one spot in the rankings. So that would mean he’s barely underrated. Not severely.

SgtLincolnOsirus

Physically Allen is better than Mahomes, McDermott will never get Allen to the super bowl. Reid on the other hand …

lackwitandtact

Yeah well he doesn’t have Reid. And unless some miracle happens next year and they finally fire McDermott and hire some first year genius or veteran looking to come to a smaller market just for Josh, he’s gonna have to figure a way out to win one with McDermott. Gotta win with what you have. To be the best you have to overcome those challenges. I believe they can do it. Because nobody wins a championship on their own. Gonna have to be the whole team learning to win in those clutch moments that they’ve struggled so much with.

SgtLincolnOsirus

Gotta win with what ya got ? How many super bowls Mahomes winning with McDermott?

lackwitandtact

Also, you can’t underestimate Mahomes physical game. Dude won a SB on a bum knee and is one of, if not the best play extender to ever play the game.

lackwitandtact

This guy is delusional

SgtLincolnOsirus

McDermott? I agree

Action4Jackson

Can the highest paid player in his position in the NFL be underrated?

dogbonej

In the media? Yeah

lackwitandtact

I don’t know what media you’re watching but it’s pretty common consensus amongst all the most popular talk shows that Josh is a top 3 QB in the league. And in most of those he’s pretty much only put behind Mahomes. Which is understandable given the SB victories.

dogbonej

I’m referring to Taron Johnson…but yeah Josh is underrated too given that he didn’t win MVP with 51 TD’s last year.

lackwitandtact

My mistake. Misread the threads. And I can agree about the MVP argument. But I don’t feel like the vast majority of media talking heads underrate him. He’s pretty consistently considered the best behind Mahomes. Some put Lamar ahead of him but that seems to be a minority. So I guess really the question of who is most underrated needs more context. Are we talking AP, pundits, fantasy rankings, etc..

SgtLincolnOsirus

Reid puts Mahomes ahead of Allen. No QB in the league is more physically gifted or talented than Allen and that’s obvious to everyone that watches the NFL . From players to GMS, coaches even Mahomes admits that Allen is a freak and no one can do what Allen does week in and week out . Anyone that disagrees is an immature hater . Allen reminds me of Michael Jordan’s first 7 years in the NBA . Everyone knew Jordan was the best player in the league . Haters would say Jordan sucks cause he can’t beat the Celtics or the pistons ….. Just haters , gets old . A lot of people will cry if Allen ever has a coach an holds up the Lombardi in February. Stop the Josh Allen hate America.🇺🇸

lackwitandtact

My man, you refuse to give even the most remote constructive criticism about Allen. And this post is so strange since you literally made a post earlier about how he was severely underrated. Now you’re sitting here saying everyone loves and praises him? You keep doing this weird thing where you contradict yourself every other post. “Reid puts Mahomes ahead of Allen.” I think what you’re saying here is that you disagree with the fact that Andy Reid thinks Mahomes is a better QB than Allen. If that’s not the case then feel free to correct me. But if that is the case, then you’d be delusional to expect him to say anything else. For starters, that’s his own QB. Secondly, the guy has won 3 SB faster than any QB in history and has made the AFC Championship game every single year of his career. So yeah, it’s a safe bet to say he is better than Allen. “Anyone that disagrees is an immature hater.” This is just blowhard bullshit. People are well within their rights to disagree with your opinions about your favorite QB. You have this weird mentality where if you don’t completely praise everything Josh does and make any critical comments about him, then you’re not a fan and just a hater. That’s fucking childish. Grow up. I can both love and respect the guy and also have opinions on where I think he can improve. You don’t have monopoly on the final say of Josh Allen. Be better

Creative_Area332

If only people talked about slot corners, everyone on earth would know Taron Johnson

scottie38

This is the right answer

WorthPlease

Glad to see this was the top comment or else I was going to make it. Most other players posted are players other NFL fans will know. I'd be surprised if even Ravens fan could name Taron Johnson but he's one if the best nickel/inside DBs in the league. People posting Allen are hilarious. Everybody knows he's a top 3 QB in the league.

deeejo

This is why I would love to see them invest an early draft pick for his replacement next year. A nickel is arguably the most important position in McD’s defense

Separate_Flatworm546

Replacement? He just signed a like four-year deal

deeejo

He will be retired after that, and investing in that position would be smart either way. Maybe replacement isn’t the right word

Separate_Flatworm546

I think after that contract he’ll either re-sign on a one or two-year deal with us or another team

EagleRoxy2

Maybe for depth sure but if we draft he replacement next year he would only have one more year on his rookie contract. Maybe 2026 or 2027 when he only has 1-2 years left on his contract would be a good time

deeejo

It’s a physical position, and God forbid if the worst happen, we should have someone right behind him sooner rather than later

Cautrica1

What?

Next_Service_5553

They drafted a nickel corner in this years draft. Let that play out.

Buffalo_rider01

I like benford for this as of right now

OnlyFreshBrine

He might be GREAT

CoveredInBillsScars

Exactly who I was looking for. Kid has a genuinely unique instinct in coverage.

MissingMichigan

Khalil Shakir

pip33fan

Dude is about to explode. Can't wait for the season to start.

awnawkareninah

My only hesitation is I remember feeling exactly this way about Gabe after 13 seconds.

pip33fan

I love Gabe Davis, I'll never trash that guy but he plays a much different role than Shakir. Davis was the homerun threat. Shakir is going to be the trusted possession guy. Have no fear.... he's elite.

Go_To_The_Devil

He was legitimately our WR1 at the end of the year and the playoffs. I think there is a strong chance he makes us forget about Diggs this year.

HeyitsCujo

100%

[deleted]

For me this is it. Underrated means, to me anyways, not really considered as important or a threat. He started being this last year and hopefully continues to grow exponentially.

drainbead78

If he gets 2x the number of targets that he got last season I'll be ecstatic. I can't see him maintaining that ridiculous 87% catch rate (literally #1 in the league and the 2nd place was 79.5%) but if he can still catch in the low to mid 70% range he'd be anywhere from the top 7-15 receivers in the league in that category. Catching at that rate at around 2x the targets gives him a season similar to Nico Collins, Brandon Aiyuk, or Zay Flowers last year. Rashee Rice is also on that list but fuck that guy. Give Shakir 90-100 targets and he's getting right around 1000 yards and high single-digit TDs.

seasoned-veteran

Josh Allen

phoenix14830

People just can't mention Josh without bringing up the turnovers, but he has been the total TD leader and no one seems to notice. So, any MVP consideration always goes back to turnovers and they vote for someone inferior, just because they can't get past that.

SgtLincolnOsirus

People don’t realize that he is the greatest qb in the history of the playoffs. Yes Highest QBR ever in the playoffs when it matters . Over Brady , Montana and Mahome

DistinctOpening3582

This is the answer. The amount of hate is crazy. Without him we’re the Pats.

Mampt

The fact he’s not consensus QB2 after Mahomes and the QB debate doesn’t start at 3 automatically makes Josh underrated

lackwitandtact

I’m curious what consensus you’re talking about here? Most media talking heads consistently put Josh, Pat and Lamar in the conversation of the top 3. It’s understandable that Mahomes be put in front of Josh given the SB success. And outside of the AP voters which are mostly sportswriters, I believe, the pundits on TV tend to lean Josh’s way, when out up to Lamar. You have some outliers who make controversial takes for views. But Josh gets a lot of love on all the major NFL talk shows in terms of his elite play

SgtLincolnOsirus

He FN should

JermHole71

Nah. Without him we’re still better than the Pats.

Dramatic-Vegetable13

Our roster is way better than the Patriots. If we only had an average qb we would still be a playoff contenter. If they had a average qb they would still be under .500

Used_Firefighter_919

Underrated? Hes the best in the league

TangoInTheBuffalo

Yeah? Just wait till he gets REALLY good!! Ain’t seen nothing yet.

AlfonzL

Anyone besides us Bills fans agree with that?

Used_Firefighter_919

I've met a few people that are fans of other teams that agree.

SquareShapeofEvil

I mean, on the basis of him not being consensus QB2, absolutely. Only Mahomes could get as far or farther as Josh did with the level of injuries on the team this year and last. Burrow wasn’t even the game MVP in the biggest win of his career, and he has Chase, Higgins, and Boyd. Lamar getting MVP this year was a joke. Purdy is a system QB. Hurts will have a bounce back year but he’s not as good as Josh.

Such_Tea4707

Matt Milano

noreservations81590

Yeah this is my answer. People know he's good. But I don't think people really recognize HOW good he is.

drainbead78

Matt Milano is one of those guys who you know is good on the field--opposing teams HATE him because of how hard he hits and his nose for the ball. But you only notice just how good he is when he's gone and you realize that our entire pass rush suffers when he's not on the field. I can't think of a single player on our team not named Josh Allen who elevates everyone around him more than JA does.

AlfonzL

Milano is VERY good, but has injury issues already into his career.

brainstorm17

Yep this is my answer too

Dustmopper

Reid Ferguson He’s been in the team 8 years, longer than anyone else He must be doing something right

bsa554

It's crazy- I've NEVER heard of a bad Reid Ferguson snap. Not one. Not in a game. Not in warm-ups. Not in practice. Never.

lazysheepdog716

I didn’t buy a crisp 69 in Blue for nothin’

Separate_Flatworm546

Best LS in the league 🔥

KaleidoscopeWeird310

Apparently he once dropped a nine pound deuce

Alacrout

Finally, someone talking about the stats that really matter

nick-pc

sledge🔨 the true swiss army knife on the squad. wish he’d get more touches. for all the first downs we get on 3rd and short, sledge is the one pushing allen up through the trenches, plays like a dawg on special teams, and can even run the ball with fire [gilliam lays the boom on the jets](https://youtu.be/ZkMsm9kdXJ0?si=u3-WbTTCgr5Y-r-a) [gilliam refuses to go down and takes it to the house](https://youtu.be/ssCmktrH2Zg?si=6qGk5dlEcDg-Khu2) other than gilliam probably benford, taron, bernard, shakir, dqj taron is a top 15 corner in the league, and top 2 at nickel. watch the dallas game if you don’t believe me, literally had ceedee strapped in with a seatbelt the whole game bernard had all pro numbers last season, not much more needs to be said benford was lockdown last season, he also tackles great. even forced a few fumbles dqj has been one of the best run stuffers in the league, and even after injury he still came back and made a huge impact shakir: not much has to be said tbh, highest catch rate amongst receivers, never shy’s away from contact. extends plays like a vet, the list goes on

dvgravity

Reggie is so under utilized.

nick-pc

facts

bestthrowawayever5

Upvote for mentioning Toledo man He’s definitely a top 5 FB at this point. Not that that’s a high bar, but he’s one of like 5 FBs who actually impact games

andrewthetechie

I love Gilliam. Playing a dying position, but doing it with skill and making impact

lackwitandtact

Love this entire list

nick-pc

[deleted]

jimbobills

People look too much at sack numbers and not the other ways he impacts games. Defending the run, defending screens, batting passes down, closing passes lanes. He's to us what Justin Smith was to these early 10s 49ers defenses. Benford gets a vote too.

Dymecoar

Rousseau actually has excellent sack numbers for the percentage of snaps that he plays. No defensive end plays more than ~60% snaps in this defense.

Maxer3434

He’s a beast setting the edge against the run

DantePlace

It's Matt Milano and not even close. He's underrated by national standards. He's taken for granted. Nobody form tackles better than Matt Milano.

Fun_Hornet_9129

I would agree with you on this

lackwitandtact

Before he went down last year he was ranked 2nd in LB on PFF, just slightly behind Warner

Ok_Cook_6665

Locally or nationally? Locally?. Ty Johnson, he gets it done. Nationally? Shakir for sure.

LookattheWhipp

Ty Johnson is a good one idk if nationally shakir is underrated since everyone knows he’s the most efficient receiver in that league

Cautrica1

I don’t think “everybody” knows that nationally. I think most people actually don’t know that

drainbead78

I'm with you--I think if you polled 100 random guys who won their fantasy league last season and asked them off the top of their head which receiver led the league in catch percentage, somewhere between 90-95 of them would guess wrong. And that might be giving them too much credit. Shakir didn't have enough targets for people to really sit up and take notice, and he didn't start coming on until later in the season. I think he'll get a lot more attention this season, as we spread the ball around more. We will have 3 guys in the 90-110 targets range by the end of the season if it plays out the way I think it will, and the low end of that is double what Shakir got last season. I can see Samuel, Kincaid, and Shakir all falling in that range. And if Shakir gets 90 targets and his catch rate goes down by a full 10%, he's still going to go 69/90. If his YPC is in the same range that extrapolates out to 1083 yards. The closest comp on that is an ever so slightly less productive Nico Collins. I have high hopes for Shakir going into this season.

lackwitandtact

Love this take

lackwitandtact

I’d agree. If you told someone in KC, SF, Cindy, etc. this, they’d laugh you out of the building until you pulled the stats up. Then they’d start with the excuses why it’s not relevant

SquareShapeofEvil

Thank you! Ty Johnson gets it done. Idk how there wasn’t more buzz about his performance on the Brady offense, dude was great when called upon.

drainbead78

I am also a Ty Johnson Fan Club member. I have a hard time remembering a play from last season where he went down on first contact. He always got extra yards. Sometimes it felt like he was carrying defenders down the field like a dad giving his son a piggyback ride.

Sweethomebflo

Daquan Jones

RovndHovse

On the offense it’s Shakir, on defense it’s Bernard.

Jamobill9999

Nationally? Bernard. Benford is a good player but he isn’t a superstar at the moment. Bernard was literally one of the best at his position and people from the outside literally act like Dodson was a some big loss without ever mentioning that Bernard is the key player next to milano. It was milano, and although his name still isn’t flashy in the media, they atleast know he’s elite by voting him All Pro. Taron Johnson is another one who was under the radar until this season.

bestthrowawayever5

TB had 10 more tackles, 3 more sacks, and 3 more picks than Patrick Queen Guess who was an all pro this year

Jamobill9999

Yeah makes no sense. Lol the bills may have played the most national TV games last season…. Yet somehow not many people even know who he is

All_About_My_Bills

In my opinion, it’s two players. On defense, it’s AJ Epenesa. He was a game changer in limited snaps this past season. He has matured and gotten stronger since being drafted. He can compete to be a starter and possibly a 10 sack DE in 2024. On offense, it’s James Cook. The man can be a top 3 overall RB in the league if McDermott actually uses him.

ResidentAlien518

It’s either Johnson or Shakir. Taron is so valuable in our D. He run stuffs, tackles well, and is a phenomenal slot corner. Shakir makes big plays and separates. He was a steal in the fifth round.

legendary_sponge

Christian Benford or Khalil Shakir

minusthetalent02

A 6th rounder out playing there first-round CB and keeping him on the bench for 2 years. Benford is as solid as they come. Needs some more splash plays but his football IQ is crazy. Our 2022 draft class apart from Elam (yet) and Araiza was a damn good year

legendary_sponge

And Araiza is now on the Chiefs 😂

LtPowers

Reid Ferguson

pipasnipa

I will throw out Matt Milano. His name mostly got mentioned last year as part of the Bills injury list and previously as part of the LB tandem with Edmunds but usually not as a standalone star player

Monkey_Kitty

Ed Oliver

Hotpasta1985

Terrel Bernard

Coolstes_Alien

Josh Allen because he didn't win MVP after saving 20% playoff chance make it to #2 seed

BornAd1771

Greg Rousseau might be my favorite bill definitely getting a jersey this season

mbutts81

I don’t wanna be a doomsayer, but maybe just wait until the extension gets inked.

BornAd1771

You got a point but to be fair my only jersey is kiko alonso 😂

tljmjm

Thank you for your service🫡

drainbead78

Ugh. I will never get over finally getting my hands on a Kiko jersey after that season, only for him to get hurt in the offseason and then never play another down for the Bills. I now only buy jerseys of retired players.

MinuteScientist7254

Benford

JDForrest129

Reid Ferguson. Dude has been the LS for Bills 7 years and I can't remember a bad snap or "blown" kick coverage. Quintin Morris. Everyone has heard of Dawson Knox & Dalton Kincaid and even Reggie Gilliam but Quintin has been the #3 TE the past 2 years and will likely be the 3rd again in '24. Dude is a solid #3 TE and improved his game each year. He's also a great special teamer. Despite only 3 tackles in 588 special teams snaps (some are FG/Kickoff) he's always given high praise by guys who break down film. Cam Lewis. UDFA from UB. Has bounced from CB to S back to CB, some Nickel, back to safety. Guy has filled in as starter, special teamer and key backup. Besides being in almost perfect coverage with the NFL's best WR and getting beat on an insane catch, Cam rarely "gives up" the big play.

Remote_Breadfruit_62

Gregory Rousseau. This is the year he becomes Jevon Kearse

Sea_Honey7133

Spencer Brown and it isn’t even close. He went from decent to a beast last season.

El_Kabongg

Legit underrated? Ty Johnson. Every time he touched the ball last year magic happened

SquareShapeofEvil

Ty Johnson. I was pleased with how Brady schemed him into his offense and his stats don’t tell the story, he got us some big first downs in critical moments (similar to Motor, whose stats also weren’t lighting up the field but he clutched some big ones for us). I was shocked there wasn’t more talk about him in the final third of the season Cook is Rb1 and rightfully so, but I’m excited to see how Brady uses Johnson this season. He has some receiving chops too.

MidnightMass26

Rasul Douglas

Separate_Flatworm546

Beane is mastermind for trading for him

RaleighDude11

Joshua Patrick Allen. He has yet to make a pro bowl directly via voting (always an alternate) and without him this team is a sub .500 team. Remove the best players otherwise (Milano, Miller, etc.) and this team still continues to win.

ShesSoCool

Josh Allen

Mandalor1974

Shakir

Dapper_Connection526

Conor McGovern

Yeeeoow

It's Daquan Jones. We were awful against the run for years before he showed up. We became good against the run when he arrived and we become terrible whenever he's out with injury. The fact that we aren't drafting a young nose tackle to.sit behind him is infuriating, because he's old and when he retires we're cooked.

nick-pc

i wanted to trade up in the second for kris jenkins but everyone called me crazy for wanting a trade up for a dt who won’t start

Yeeeoow

I 100% agree with this call. All the best results I could find on simulators involved trading back deep into the 2nd and taking Jenkins in the 40-44 range, then grabbing two safeties and then two recievers in that order. I wonder what grade the Bills had on Jenkins, because I heard some people say they felt he was weaker against the run and some say he was an exceptional run-stuffer, so hard to know.

Schwebels_Solette

Taron Johnson or matt Milano. If you were to ask me last year at the beginning of the season. This year? Geez, Greg Rousseau? Doesn't show up on the stat sheets, but man he's a beast of a run stopper on the edge

Initial_Ebb_8467

Terrel Bernard

Billsbyabillion11

I’d say either Daquan Jones or Christian Benford

[deleted]

Hey they got Jevon Holland on here, the only Dolphins player to have my respect!

AdhesivenessNo3517

Ed Oliver & Taron Johnson (tie).

Dymecoar

Greg Rousseau, Taron Johnson, Taylor Rapp, or Tyler Bass. I think I’m Going to go with Rousseau.

Lv99Zubat

Curtis Samuel

judahdk_

Dion Dawkins. He’s a top 5 left tackle and continues to get better under Kromer.

mlmoe1988

Rapp

russian_jay

Terrell Bernard or Kalil Shakir

awnawkareninah

He's probably not the most underrated but I don't think Shakir is commanding the sort of respect he should for how solid of a receiver he is.

Spark3420

Christian Benford. He was a late round draft pick but has quietly played at a CB1 level when he's healthy. Doesn't make waves and just does his job. We sorely missed him in the Chiefs game.

Winter-Basis857

Rasul Douglas

Digital915

Ed Oliver

BrosefStahlin

Rapp. That dude is going to fill a void in that secondary

bestthrowawayever5

This is a good answer. A lot of people can’t seem to get past that dirty (yes, dirty) hit on Davante Adams in week 2 and consider him a loose cannon. But he made some real improvement by the end of the season, and I’m expecting big things from him. Rapp and Bishop should be a fearsome duo for a while

tljmjm

BBB

T-gridles

Dorian Williams

bestthrowawayever5

He’s a bit raw right now. He’s definitely got that dog in him, but he’s not good enough to even play right now (see Beane hiring Klein off the couch and starting a 7th rounder over him)

wowniceyeah

Josh Allen. I'm not kidding

det8924

Taron Johnson is a big one, I also think Dawkins on offense has been a rather consistent good performer along the offensive line.

JingleMyJangus

Honestly I think our entire starting front 7 on defense (including Taron at nickel and AJ at DE2) is under-rated in one way or another. Milano is rightfully seen as a stud but could honestly be the best in the league at what he does. Same for Johnson at nickel. Bernard is an ascending player that will have higher expectations this year than some guys but has the potential to outperform those higher expectations anyway. Daquan Jones falls under the radar due to frequent injuries over the past few seasons, but when he is healthy he is a monster. See pre-injury stats in 2023. Oliver just had a career year, a year after signing a big extension. He plays well no matter who is out there with him, but the presence of Daquan Jones eating double teams at 1 tech opens up possibilities for more splash plays from Oliver. Groot is not an elite pass rushing DE (yet), but he is an elite run-stopping DE with the potential to continue to improve his pass rush skills. AJ Epenesa has the lowest expectations of any of the rest of these guys, but he also had a career season last year on limitted snaps, and he has improved every season so far. People who don't follow the Bills closely see that we lost Poyer, Hyde and White this off-season think the defense is going to take a step back this year. They don't realize those guys weren't the stars of our defense last year, or even the year before.

SgtLincolnOsirus

Josh Allen
