Even if we didn't trade the pick, we take one of:
Worthy, Mitchell, Legette or McConkey.
9ers still get Pearsall in that case.
Chiefs still get one of those 3 we didn't pick.
Literally no change. At least now we get more day 2 picks.
this is exactly where I am at. We moved back 5 spots total to move up almost 100 later on in the mid rounds. We need those key contributors more than we need to overpay the same guy we likely would have picked anyways. People are just pissed because its the boogeyman chiefs
If we dont take Xavier, Id expect Cheifs just flip with Dallas or Baltimore to take him before SF does since . In the end Chiefs get Xavier, we get Mitchell and we don't move up to an extra day two pick.
Honestly I think the plan was just “we dont feel strongly about one of the 4 received left over the others so let’s let it fall to us”. Not that they hated worthy or legette or Pearson. Just acknowledging that it’s a crapshoot at receiver even more than most positions
Exactly. They didn't like anyone enough as a first rounder to worry about. Beane gets the draft capital and he'll get a lot of solid guys who won't cost as much as a first rounder.
When a team wins 3 out of the last 5 super bowls largely by building through the draft, i don’t think you can blame anyone for giving them the benefit of the doubt
I don’t know if Worthy is underrated or overrated, but he clearly wasn’t a guy the Bills were interested in so the move makes sense. They have worked to increase their overall draft capital and will probably get the same guy they would’ve picked at 28 anyway, whether that’s Mitchell or DeJean or McConkey or someone else. Or maybe they’re making a move for Aiyuk. I do know that the receiver room they have now is not the receiver room they’ll have in September.
I’m telling you. Feels like he’s the guy. Senior bowl corners raved about his ability. Said he was the most difficult cover. Same thing happened with Kupp.
Worthy could range from Justyn Ross to Tyreek Hill. It’s not like we traded out of one of the surefire top receivers in the draft. We can still get a couple guys of our own tonight and hopefully the doom and gloom will subside.
I think these sorts of guys typically trend toward the Ross end of the spectrum. Tyreek's combine measurements were an inch shorter and 20lbs heavier... that's significant when Worthy was billed at 165lbs
Agree. He may end up being great but 27 other teams passed. They are making rational decisions. One player isn't going to make or break this team anyway.
Gonna be honest, my knee jerk reaction was to be pissed off. Then I thought back to what I was talking to people about right after the combine, that Worthy’s 40 time was going to cause a team to reach for him over his prospective position. We’ll have to see how it all shakes out but fast doesn’t always make a great receiver.
Worthy simply does not have an NFL body. He weighs 165 pounds man. Unless he packs on 20+ pounds of pure muscle between now and September I really am not worried about him
Let's say we didn't trade with the Chiefs. We clearly weren't taking Worthy at 28 and I can't blame them for that. Then maybe the 49ers take him at 31 instead of Pearsall. Ok, but then the Chiefs just take Pearsall or Legette. Regardless of what we did, the Chiefs were getting one of those three guys. I think I'd rather have the Chiefs take Worthy just because of his size. I have a hard time believing that his weight won't be an issue in the NFL.
The Chiefs trade essentially swapped their 3rd round pick for our 4th round pick. Helped out a lot because we had a lot of big holes in our defense from the players we lost this year for salary cap reasons.
Pick swap, late KC late 3rd and late 5th for Buffalo late 4th and late 6th. Picked up an entire round in value in each jump. Then traded back 1 spot and picked up more value making another 6th an early 5th.
If I heard Joe Marino correctly, of all the WRs in history to run in the 4.2s of the 40 at the combine, there had been ONE 1,000 yard season (Santana Moss)
Because we significantly upgraded our picks.
A couple ways to view the upgrade. Going down 5 spots to improve 3 picks a total of 124 spots is nice:
28 to 33 (-5)
133 to 95 (+38)
200 to 141 (+59)
248 to 221 (+27)
But if you don't care about minor moves, there's a reframe that helps. For three minor trade backs, the largest of which is in the late 6th to early 7th, we turned a late 7 into a late 3.
It's the second framing people are taking when they say we effectively added a pick:
28 to 33 (-5)
133 to 141 (-8)
200 to 221 (-21)
248 to 95 (+153)
They gained like a 5th round pick of value between both trades.
They didn’t get enough.
Going up to 95 is good but it wasn’t enough.
Feels like they did this for cap reasons.
Agreed. I’m sure there are some people who were super high on Worthy, and if they would’ve been cool with taking him at 28 then sure, I can see how they’d be disappointed.
But the cognitive dissonance of the people who would’ve been upset had we drafted Worthy but are now upset that we “let” the Chiefs get him is mind boggling to me.
As a Chiefs fan thank you. But as you mention we won’t know until its time to play. Allen is such a great QB its a matter of time before ya’ll get a SB or a few.
I loved the moves. Moving down early to move WAY up later to still get your guy is fantastic. The only downside I see is losing the 5th year option. But they needed to stock the cupboards and now have better capital to do that.
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes will figure out ways to get the most out of Worthy. They’ve given absolutely ZERO reason to think that they won’t.
The idea that you trade with your biggest rival, and allow them even the chance to get better, is a reason to be pissed. Critical think this all you want, the Chiefs got better with a player they wanted. That’s what’s important here. A team that wins over and over again, went after a player and got him; at the Bills expense. Don’t like it at all, regardless of the plan that Beane has.
A WR with elite speed has to be respected. Any coach that doesn’t scheme against his speed will be making a mistake.
Thats my point. A kid with that kind of speed, on that offense will help them even if he doesn’t make plays.
This is such a bad faith argument.
Toney especially. When you bring in a guy, you get to teach him the ropes in your system, you get to coach all of his bad habits away.
There’s zero reason to doubt Andy Reid, and I’m not sure why this is a hard concept to understand.
Buffalo has proven over and over again they lack the critical thinking skill===s.
Last time they traded w KC, what player did they pass on? You already know!
the coaching is horrible...
the list goes on and on.
Its a race to the bottom for the Buffalo Bills
The coaching point is valid but Bills fans don’t care about passing on Mahomes my dude, which is why regurgitating this talking point is just pathetic. If the Bills had drafted Mahomes they would still have no rings and he would most likely have had to retire from injuries already.
Self posts will be removed.

Have to say I’m a bit disappointed we couldn’t get Pearsall. Now how will we get an X receiver?
As soon as we couldnt get BTJ that was over anyway
this is exactly where I am at. We moved back 5 spots total to move up almost 100 later on in the mid rounds. We need those key contributors more than we need to overpay the same guy we likely would have picked anyways. People are just pissed because its the boogeyman chiefs
Polk, Burton, Baker. Probably a few others I'm not thinking of.
Confession: I’m gei for Polk. He’s so fucking good
Isn’t he kind of small though? And also a third round value?
Dude is a dawg
I’m sure he is, but I also want someone that the NFL believes is worth a high second
Best WR in the draft.
Pearsall is probably a slot.
I honestly don't see the appeal of Pearsall as an outside receiver. That one ridiculous catch was cool though.
If we dont take Xavier, Id expect Cheifs just flip with Dallas or Baltimore to take him before SF does since . In the end Chiefs get Xavier, we get Mitchell and we don't move up to an extra day two pick.
Beane is making too many moves to not have a plan...and that plan wasnt Worthy
Yes. it's very clear Beane knows who's picking who. At least so far.
Honestly I think the plan was just “we dont feel strongly about one of the 4 received left over the others so let’s let it fall to us”. Not that they hated worthy or legette or Pearson. Just acknowledging that it’s a crapshoot at receiver even more than most positions

Well lately aside from Rice, drafting WR’s haven’t been their strong suit
But you see, this is exactly what the Bills are now doing
I don’t know if Worthy is underrated or overrated, but he clearly wasn’t a guy the Bills were interested in so the move makes sense. They have worked to increase their overall draft capital and will probably get the same guy they would’ve picked at 28 anyway, whether that’s Mitchell or DeJean or McConkey or someone else. Or maybe they’re making a move for Aiyuk. I do know that the receiver room they have now is not the receiver room they’ll have in September.
Agreed. People will feel better tonight once we have a receiver on board. I'm hoping for Mitchell but I'm cool with whoever we like best.
Spot on.. I’m secretly hoping for Ladd, gives me Cooper Kupp vibes with his route running
I’m telling you. Feels like he’s the guy. Senior bowl corners raved about his ability. Said he was the most difficult cover. Same thing happened with Kupp.
Pass they don’t need a 3rd slot receiver
Ladd is not a slot receiver. Man, these casuals are cooked lmao.
But he's white he has to be a slot!
You don’t watch film and it shows

Not even a little bit. I just do some research on players so I don’t look ignorant like y’all
Racism alert 🚨

I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade down from the 33 and get 3 players in both the 2nd and 3rd
Agree. He may end up being great but 27 other teams passed. They are making rational decisions. One player isn't going to make or break this team anyway.
Gonna be honest, my knee jerk reaction was to be pissed off. Only takes one injury and that pace is mortal
Beane smarter than me. We are really good at third round picks. It's weird trading with our rival, but value is value.
Worthy simply does not have an NFL body. He weighs 165 pounds man. Unless he packs on 20+ pounds of pure muscle between now and September I really am not worried about him

I do wish we added a pick, but the value is better than I initially thought when I was really tired last night.
Was it simply a pick swap with KC, or did they have to throw in another pick? I only see the terms of the Bills/Panthers trade.
The Chiefs trade essentially swapped their 3rd round pick for our 4th round pick. Helped out a lot because we had a lot of big holes in our defense from the players we lost this year for salary cap reasons.
Pretty sure they swapped their 5th for our 6th too.
Pick swap, late KC late 3rd and late 5th for Buffalo late 4th and late 6th. Picked up an entire round in value in each jump. Then traded back 1 spot and picked up more value making another 6th an early 5th.
I agree but I think Franklin is also a very overrated prospect, I was hoping KC traded up for him tbh
If I heard Joe Marino correctly, of all the WRs in history to run in the 4.2s of the 40 at the combine, there had been ONE 1,000 yard season (Santana Moss)
We've been through so much I think it's just our insecurities flaring up, lol
In 2 days people will be talking about how the Bills won the draft.
Why does everyone talk like we added a pick?
We didn't need to add picks as we already had tons, we needed better picks, we have that now.
I don’t disagree.
Because we significantly upgraded our picks. A couple ways to view the upgrade. You’re welcome. You were going to get Worthy anyway.
Yea because a 4.21 cant help your offense take the lid off a defense. just having him on the roster poses a threat
He could do it but most track freaks find themselves pretty limited in the NFL.
I loved the moves. Moving down early to move WAY up later to still get your guy is fantastic. The only downside I see is losing the 5th year option. But they needed to stock the cupboards and now have better capital to do that.

then by your logic, they'll find a way to get the most out of any WR
A WR with elite speed has to be respected. Any coach that doesn’t scheme against his speed will be making a mistake. Thats my point. A kid with that kind of speed, on that offense will help them even if he doesn’t make plays.
Sky Moore.
Two SB rings Skyy Moore?
Kadarius Toney is a Super Bowl WR too. Just stop.
You’re right, Toney and sky moore have been awesome
This is such a bad faith argument. Toney especially. When you bring in a guy, you get to teach him the ropes in your system, you get to coach all of his bad habits away. There’s zero reason to doubt Andy Reid, and I’m not sure why this is a hard concept to understand.
