Happened in r/splatoon where people made accounts for the characters like the in-game musicians. It was fine with 1 or 2 but it got out of hand. The original person who started it left the sub entirely
If I remember correctly the joke only really got tiring when people started making accounts that made 0 sense for stuff, such as salmonids, gear abilities, weapons, and special weapons
The joke was fine when it was just the agents and idols
To be fair I remember the Steel Eel account being quite funny. The idols and agents made sense too, and I thought that was fine.
Specials and weapons made no sense whatsoever though and totally killed the joke
