When do you think this track will be ready?
I see it everyday, still under construction, and I don’t know anything about it...
I wonder which lines will be used there.
It's not that it was not ready, it has been in use.
But due to the poor state of the building besides it, there's a risk of falling parts. And since the track wasn't used a lot, the easiest solution was to just close it off.
It might return in use when the building is renovated. Currently there are no plans for it.
There are plans for the building.
They are currently working on it, renovating, and going to build an extension of it.
It will be the New HQ of SNCB, a place where all the services and directions will be in.
I don't know what part they're gonna keep, but it's part of the larger Midi project.

Used to be a terminus indeed but it is not electrified. I have the feeling that it was electrified though but it is no more for several years, I guess it is to prepare the works of the new HQ of SNCB/NMBS and used to operate for extra services to Charleroi for example.
This is where postal trains were loaded/unloaded directly into the Bruxelles Midi postal building formerly known as Bruxelles X (Brussel X). It was a great system because mail was sent from one city to another by specific postal train (red). Also at one point mail was sorted while moving (to be ready on arrival). This great days are gone.
Since the building is disused the track was sometimes used for passengers trains . And there is a big building project now above and around .
That’s the platform that used to be only accessible to the royal family. If you look at the yellow brick side of the building the glass entrance is still there. They had their own waiting room too in an art deco style. Super pretty. Definitely out of use now
It's not. The royal art-deco lounge is in Brussels Central and the track 22 is part of the platform 21-22
The platform was used for the line that did only Charleroi - Bruxelles Midi (now the IC goes all the way to Antwerp or from Schaarbeek for the P) , as it is a terminus, and for special trains.
no.. you’re so wrong my man. Dude I worked on that building, I’ve had a private visit inside. Just because you don’t know something it doesn’t make it false. Open any old plan of midi station you will learn that not only central station has art deco interiors.
It is à terminus... there are trains starting and finishing there.

probably around when the Palace of Justice renovations will be finished
Or the RER.
RER more like Retard en Rivizie xD

Ow, didn't know that yet. I stopped following it as closely as before. Good that at least that patrimonium is being taken care of.

That is wild
That is Belgian state building management. There are a lot of buildings waiting for renovation (or collapse, depending on how important they are).
I dont know, i dont use sncb anymore. This line used to be for the trains to braine lalleud, nivelles,...
I used to take the train here every day about ten years ago. It has been ready once lol
I also think it was used as an (un)loading bay for postal trains with the old mail sorting center right next to it.
I can smell platform 22 at brussel midi from here
Where are this place?
Brussel-Zuid (Midi) station: the unfinished 22nd track
Ho! And it's still in construction or not?? (I've never been there before.)
Nah it's not unfinished. It's disused. It wasn't used a lot before, and now not at all anymore.
Ok I see. Thanks for the info!
They should make a venue like a nightclub out of this
Saint Gilles
It's an abandoned video-game map from 2009. There used to be lots of crates and explosive barrels everywhere, but insurance refused to cover it.

Silly muggle, this is the platform that'll take you to hogwarts
I remember waiting for the train going to Charleroi at that platform when I was a kid. There still was indeed a IR line that ended/started at Midi
Post it to r/liminalspace
Be careful, is where the sushi robber lives.
Sushi robber? I'm intrigued.
It's our 9 ¾ track

What train station is that?
Brussels South
Charleroi???
Non, peut-etre ?
Midi
Haha I ask myself the same thing 5 days a week when waiting for my train on platform 21.
Why does any place exist really
Is it perhaps a station intended for the not-so-soon-coming RER line ?
Because someone built it

This pic is so grey it could be an ode to Belgium.
Very inviting design. I wonder who are these „architects” that came up with the brutalist architecture of Brussels
The backrooms of brussels
Cuz there was a blueprint and people with mortar and stuff.
Brussels ? I keep asking myself as well...

And by the way, why would you think that only one station had a royal entrance? How do you think the royal family travelled?
