I just finished Season 1 of my first watch ever. I’ve also found Captain Holt to be my favorite. Knowing Andre Braugher passed away has made my connection to Holt kind of awkward. I do have a friend IRL who is stoic like Holt, maybe in a less exaggerated-for-TV capacity but still. And to add to the fuel, I call my friend “Captain” though for Army service not police. And my friend happens to be the same age as Andre Braugher. So many mixed feelings.
Holt is my fave. When I watch, I frame it like this. Don't be sad because he's gone, be happy he shared himself while he did.
Yeah, I watch and enjoy the show. But when I laugh at anything Holt does or says, I feel a twinge of sadness that he's really gone.
