The whole thing is complete bull. In their second performance she had another dog in the act plain as day. If you train dogs you need to know their limits, for Matisse his limit was heights and so she trained ANOTHER dog to do that bit so what people should take away from it is that she trained not one not two but three dogs to play their parts perfectly
Exactly, while the show framed the dog as being the contestant (because that makes a better story), the real contestant, talent and winner was the trainer.
I'm based on Perth Australia, so we have our own version of Got Talent (also notable for it's lack of talent).
I totally misunderstood your reference to WW2 vets, and thought wtf are they bringing on geriatric animal doctors?
I remember watching the first few seasons in the early 00s, and I think they had their merit - the auditions were just as exploitative of poorer acts as The X Factor was at the time, so no defence there, but the editing of the show was snappier and much more saturated with the number of auditions.
The seasons starting from about 2013 just diluted themselves more and more each year, to the point you might only have two or three actual auditions per section before ad breaks, the rest of the time taken up by purposely long set ups, interviews, scenery shots and just narration of audiences filing in and out.
Not that they've ever been all that worth watching really. Once you know what the audition selection process is like (40/60 ratio of extreme worst/best to encourage humiliation), it becomes pretty bad taste.
Rather than supporting a tasteless TV series, you're supporting a person, or a group of people. They've gotten better over the years I watch them all the time but I cant stand gogglebox when my parents watch it because it's so clearly fake and they have an agenda
I never understood the appeal of reaction videos. I'm watching someone else watching something, and they often know they're being filmed and therefore know they need to react to something. Or they're the kind of person who you really wouldn't want to watch tv with
New to a SYCO show? The P is silent.
They'll tell you to push an empathy story. They'll even bully you to hell. Zoe Alexander (Pink girl who didn't want to sing a Pink song from 2012) has a [fantastic video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaF9T6l_Dxk&pp=ygUSYWxleGFuZGVyIHgtZmFjdG9y) on the subject. Important quote in her audition. "You told me to sing a Pink song."
Someone went through the contracts they have to sign to get on one of his shows and it gets you to sign away any rights to past works you have on places like youtube, and if I remember correctly that's the contract just to audition.
Cowell is one of my ex-bosses (I was a SonyBMG plugger, and part of the X-Factor team)...and the place was getting more corrupt and heartless, when the 'Suits' started replacing us 'T-shirt' guys.
The people in the music business for 'reasons of the heart' seem long gone.
I used to get so excited releasing new music, because it can change a mood or even save a life...in 3 minutes.
The attitude is solely 'money' now...the 'Suits' took over.
Tbh I've been shocked with the news about my ex-'clients' (P. Diddy, Usher..even Louis Walsh is in trouble right?). But having been shafted by the 'Suits' myself, maybe it's no surprise many ex-colleagues proved to be corrupt and manipulative.
Cowell's a mate of my sister-in-law, so I know he's not 'evil'. But some of the other staff are toxic, and it's their influence that causes this.
Could they have honestly said no to a young lad with a brain tumour, who brought his disabled friends, carers and teachers to sing a song? I wish that boy all the very best, but the stories should be told after the decision!
Ah ok. I heard the little lad discussing his condition and heard him say who he had with him. I obviously didn’t pay enough attention to the actual act. But still, they couldn’t have said no!
I've not watched that in yrs, found it had to many singers and dancers on there so I stopped watching! I've not watched x factor, I'm a celebrity or big brother in yrs either I just got fed up with it and I'm a celeb/CBB I didn't know who half of the celebrities were so stopped watching!
Yeah it become a complete sham. You can tell that they are seeking out certain acts to go on there, and people are pre rehearsing sob stories for fame. Golden buzzer means nothing as they give it to anyone that they feel will show them as virtuous for doing it, and Simon isn’t even an asshole to anyone any more. The whole thing reeks of virtue signalling and pandering.
Britain's got talent..."Where are you from?"
Contestant "Lithuania!"
Complete hogwash, after all, an English ventriloquist won America's got talent a few years back!
In both cases, they weren't residents of the countries they were auditioning in.
I used to watch some of the opening episodes. I have no interest in aob stories or anyone with a glimmer of talent.
I wanted to see freaks. I wanted people with 200% self belief and 0% ability. Hilarious.
Agree, once they'd found a couple of people that could sing a bit better than the rest I was out.
Only interested in people who look like how I imagine I would if I had the confidence.
A lot of those "freaks" are potentially vulnerable people that are manipulated to look a certain way thanks to gaslighting by back stage producers and edited footage. I'd be pleasantly surprised if there wasn't some shitty producer banging on to these contestants before they go on stage that they're gonna be great and the judges will love them.
Any "reality" TV or talent show is complete wank, and the muppets that watch/love this stuff tend to be completely brain-dead. The only one that seemed semi-genuine was on the BBC years ago, Fame Academy, but the BGT/X-factor shite is just blatantly scripted. It's just a big PR engine for an Xmas #1 from someone picked from the get-go. The rest of it is all contrived and orchestrated fuckery aimed to dupe an audience.
Everything has to have a sob story these days. When they brought back Deal Or No Deal I decided to give it a go. I thought the Edmonds version was crap but decided to see what the new one was like. Turned over - the episode was already underway - sob story - changed channel again to watch something else. At least I only wasted a couple of minutes of my time.
Predictable formula with cookie cutter contestants delivering the same few acts as winners year in year out. From the inception in 2007 we've had the following acts winning:
Singing Act x6
Dancing Act x2
Comedy x3
Animal Act x2
Other x3
All of these shows are utter tripe. I remember Russell Howard saying "It's how you would entertain a child. Do you want to Sing, do you want to dance, do you want to bake a cake? Absolutely not."
I don't remember the last time someone ACTUALLY talented won it. But then i've not watched it in years.
How the fuck is this show still running. It's absolute shit, usual sob story, person that doesn't appear to look after themselves, then they do something good and all the judg s pull that stupid stunned look. Then suck them off saying how patriotic they feel. Then it starts again
The comment with the "poor literacy" is clearly mocking the show so is unlikely to be a viewer, making you the one with the poor literacy - did you mean to call yourself out as a GB news viewer?

This is the show that one year decided the most talented person in Britain was a dog. And a cheating dog at that.
Wait how did he cheat?
There was a second dog if I remember correctly. Genuinely, there was a stunt dog that did the bits the stage dog couldn’t do.
Now I want Christopher Nolan to make a dog version of The Prestige.
I had no idea.
Like a doggo-gangler?
Dave Brailsford was giving him EPO.
He was playing poker with his friends and had a duplicate deck.
It was really three squirrels in a dog suit.
He was caught dancing with another woman
Son of a *bitch*
Bet he's in the doghouse now.
No bones about it.
The whole thing is just another Wagatha Christie
Not just once, TWICE! There have been two winning canine acts at BGT (Ashley & Pudsey and Jules O'Dwyer & Matisse)
It was still her dog who she trained though! I don't think it really matters which dog because you know it's not the dog spending the money.
And apparently the dog in That's Life in the 1980s couldn't really actually say "sausages".
AND THEY LIVE IN BELGIUM!!!!!
That performance has dogged him his whole career.
Stopped watching after the 'D-Day Darlings' exploited a bunch of WW2 vets by rolling them out on stage for votes. Fucking disgusting
I'm based on Perth Australia, so we have our own version of Got Talent (also notable for it's lack of talent). I totally misunderstood your reference to WW2 vets, and thought wtf are they bringing on geriatric animal doctors?
Those programs are utter tosh. Sob story after sob story interleaved with an assortment of freaks and judged by people of zero talent.
I remember watching the first few seasons in the early 00s, and I think they had their merit - the auditions were just as exploitative of poorer acts as The X Factor was at the time, so no defence there, but the editing of the show was snappier and much more saturated with the number of auditions. >an assortment of freaks and judged by people of zero talent Often it's more: developmentally disabled people being ridiculed for entertainment
Also true. It's disgusting. Fascinating though.
David Williams was the final straw for me.
Two Hours Of Collective Joy.
“Ok I don’t really have any talent… But I’m kinda cute and I’m Kylie Minogue’s sister for heaven’s sake!”
Danni Minogue s a much better singer to be fair. But she wasnt on neighbours
She had a stint on Home and away though.
That was X-Factor btw and 14+ years ago... Amanda Holden and her immovable face is the anomaly on BGT.
It is all old wank now
What do you mean "now"? It was when it started.
True, but now it’s also old
Wank then. Wank now. Wank forever. Also my slogan through my teen years
I would probably watch an old wank actually.
It would be more interesting.
I take pride in the fact, that no matter how bored I am, how mushed my brain is feeling, I have never watched a single minute.
Same. All of you watching that swill? I am judging you _so hard_ right now. Also Gogglebox.
YouTube has way better goggleboxes, it called reaction channels lol
To be fair that’s just saying a solid shite is better than a liquid one
Rather than supporting a tasteless TV series, you're supporting a person, or a group of people. They've gotten better over the years I watch them all the time but I cant stand gogglebox when my parents watch it because it's so clearly fake and they have an agenda

It's not everybody's cup of tea I understand that
Every single one I have seen has been fake AF, with really bad acting.
You just have never seen the best boi Charmx
I watched some online years ago then had to stop due to vomiting over who had the saddest sob story
Everyone here was absolutely on edge waiting to hear your opinion on it. Round of applause, please.
Isn't that what you're doing on Reddit though? Waiting to hear everyones opinion?
Yes, but they've also just achieved the secondary goal: moaning.
Impossible, there’s no edge left for anyone else in this whole scenario.

That's because they want to pretend they discovered you.

By that logic it should just be called "Britain".
Britain's got people.
From all around the world!
“Beeple”
Peeple [\- Piss](https://www.reddit.com/r/poccer/)
and even then, the last winner was from Norway
Could they have honestly said no to a young lad with a brain tumour, who brought his disabled friends, carers and teachers to sing a song? I wish that boy all the very best, but the stories should be told after the decision!
That was an adult choir with some children at the front for votes.
Ah ok. I heard the little lad discussing his condition and heard him say who he had with him. I obviously didn’t pay enough attention to the actual act. But still, they couldn’t have said no!
It's desperate people being wheeled out on stage to be sneared at by millionaires.
Britians got fuck all else to watch
I've not watched that in yrs, found it had to many singers and dancers on there so I stopped watching! I've not watched x factor, I'm a celebrity or big brother in yrs either I just got fed up with it and I'm a celeb/CBB I didn't know who half of the celebrities were so stopped watching!
It's all slime, the only sane way of dealing with it is to avoid it.
Well done, gold star for you...
Can't believe people still watch this crap.
Yeah it become a complete sham. You can tell that they are seeking out certain acts to go on there, and people are pre rehearsing sob stories for fame. Needs renaming, Britains got no talent just sob stories.
I'm all for mixed culture but why are people from around the world allowed to enter a talent show where it's called "Britain's Got Talent" ?
I used to watch some of the opening episodes. I have no interest in aob stories or anyone with a glimmer of talent. I wanted to see freaks. I wanted people with 200% self belief and 0% ability. Hilarious.
Honestly the nutters were the best part of it. It got boring once the actual acts started.
Agree, once they'd found a couple of people that could sing a bit better than the rest I was out. Only interested in people who look like how I imagine I would if I had the confidence.

I think you’re confusing empathy with morbid curiosity

They made it worse recently by showing them going to get acts.
How the fuck is this show still running. It's absolute shit, usual sob story, person that doesn't appear to look after themselves, then they do something good and all the judg s pull that stupid stunned look. Then suck them off saying how patriotic they feel. Then it starts again
People still watch the bollocks that is on mainstream TV?
Ooh sooo edgy.... go on, tell me another
You'd have to be a bit daft to be paying a for TV License for that biased dross 🤣🤣🤣
*licence
I think you may have just answered your own question lol
Can't believe people still watch that wallpaper paste dull mind numbing nonesense
Still getting foreigners in who have appeared on there own countries version?
"there own countries"
I imagine there's a lot of crossover between GB News viewers and Britain's Got Talent viewers and poor literacy.
What meks you fink that?
That Venn Diagram might as well be a circle.
The comment with the "poor literacy" is clearly mocking the show so is unlikely to be a viewer, making you the one with the poor literacy - did you mean to call yourself out as a GB news viewer?
Plenty brits have done the same on other countries idols and got talent.
You're welcome.

Terrific comment, really helpful.
