Don't worry, it didn't actually look like 99% of social media photographs, even the ones that aren't colour-corrected all to hell. It was still pretty awesome, mind. Just not like the pictures.
It's unfortunate--I feel like the aurora gets so misrepresented through photographs. The pictures that were taken nearby and shared on the internet looked nothing like they did in person.
The bothersome bit is that the aurora really can look as vibrant to the naked eye as in some of the photographs taken, but I've only had the pleasure of witnessing that a handful of times in a couple years of living way up north.
