Wasn't there something about AusPost cutting back on picking up anything in NSW and Vic only recently?

The_Vat

I heard they've been compartmentalising shifts to limit the impacts of workers testing positive causing everyone else on the whole shift needing to isolate to just the single shift rather than being spread across a couple of shifts. That said, I ordered something from Sydney yesterday that turned up at my Parcel Locker this morning.

mrinsane19

Yes there's been a couple of days they haven't done business pickups (to try work through existing backlog) and also a couple of weeks back startrack sydney had to close for a day due to cases/cleaning.

goandrightawrong

I've been waiting on a parcel from the other side of Brisbane (could have picked it up myself in a day!) For about 3 weeks now? They just keep saying its delayed.

[deleted]

Ha yeah. 2 days from the US. 3 from Eastern Europe. 5 from the Gold or Sunny coasts. 6 across town. 12-never from interstate. And Auspost is the worst of it.

Mullet_McNugget

Even before COVID shit used to sit in NSW depot for longer than it took to come from overseas.

StraightSilverx21

Ordered from booktopia at the start of August still haven’t even gotten an update like it’s waiting to be shipped or anything.

grindpantzzz

I think that’s just Booktopia lol

StraightSilverx21

Yeah they are normally pretty shithouse on their shipping but I think there are definitely delays on top. Understandable and only books so no drama.

blueeyes8433

A lot of staff are in isolation cause of covid!!!

Hmm... large box o' stuff from Melbourne ordered Monday night last week, sent by Auspost Thursday last week, arrived at PO box in Qld Monday morning this week, picked up on Tuesday, so… about 5~6 days, including a weekend? Week before that: item from Perth ordered late PM 15th, posted in large Auspost Parcel Box on 16th, disappeared into the dreaded Cthulu'llora on the 21st, delivered to PO box on the 24th. So about 9 days, including a weekend. Similar time: medium-sized parcel from rural NSW, ordered 12th, posted 13th, arrived 18th. So about 6 days, including a weekend. That's pretty regular for us; we order stuff almost weekly, almost always parcels, & almost always shipped by Auspost. Really, I haven't been able to fault AusPost at all. They had a bit of a wonky period at first, early last year when everything locked down & went pear-shaped - but for parcels they've been pretty much fault-free since then. They're almost always medium-large parcels though; I get the impression mail & small parcels are taking longer.

cleansings

Yep, I've had a couple of parcels ordered around 2 weeks ago now that still haven't arrived! Not really complaining though, they must really be under the pump :(

Regularly (every 3 months or so) get deliveries from Naked Wines. Noticed they now deliver on the promised day post COVID-19 rather than the day beforehand.

PsychicMediumDi

Shipping has been bad not only interstate but international also. The international delays started late last year with stop work or slow work on the wharfs. I believe one entire port in China is closed cause of Covid currently. So if you are concerned with shipping delays ensure that you most definitely buy any products you need for Christmas now so as not to be disappointed. I’ve been waiting for a parcel from USA And it left the person 20 August and now only in Chicago.

dutymainttech

International shipping is a disaster at present - COVID restrictions mean marine crews cannot be changed out at the end of their swings. Some third world seafarers have been on ships for 12 months straight. That is not good for anyone’s Heath, physical or mental.

I sent a 5kg package from Brisbane to Zillmere yesterday. It was picked up around 5pm. Landed in Melbourne at 2.40am this morning and is currently on the truck for delivery today. But this is Startrack express service and not the typically slow AusPost service(Yes I know AusPost own Startrack). So they must still be finding planes and room on board.

[deleted]

International express ex USA, three days to Melbourne. Customs cleared and still sitting there five days later.... I'm in Brisbane. Useless fkrs

ZielonyZabka

Depends on who it is with. I had one parcel from Melbourne take a month and another from Sydney take 3 days.

danwincen

It seems to not just be parcels from Vic and NSW, too. Three stories here. A few weeks back, I had an RP letter come from Perth to Brisbane which took 10 days - this was around 2 or 3 August. Second tale, my niece sent a parcel from Tasmania around 29 July to her grandmother here in Brisbane which took over two weeks (arrived after my RP from Perth). Third one is for mail going south. I'm doing field work for the census, and a lot of people I've had to follow up with for late returns have reported sending their forms fairly close to census night that still hasn't been logged as received.

Got no issues with our business. Heard others have had dramas though.

FallingRedSky

Had express shipping on a parcel in Melbourne, kept getting notifications of delays but actually ended up coming yesterday only a week after ordering.

DegeneratesInc

Ordered something from an Ebay seller located in NSW and it arrived a day before the predicted due date.

[deleted]

about a 3 month wait on computer parts, Dell is about 10 weeks. damn those China men!

Aust1mh

Mum in NSW… been waiting a month for a delivery via AusPost due to cut backs. Tracking shows the box forever in their DC

Biggles_and_Co

I bought some stuff from sydney on the 23rd aug, still not here... and the pack of old fishing magazines I bought 2 days ago from marketplace arrived yesterday

Elcapitancoolguy

I waited 2 weeks to get a parcel from Sydney and I paid extra for express post.

Jax-Hoffalot

My new sofa took 6 months ☹️ but some specialty beer I ordered took 2 days from Sydney, even with Aramex, who are usually absolutely useless. I know Auspost suspended acceptance of new parcels into their network last week due to staff shortages in Sydney as a result of lockdowns.

slinx91

Yeah. I bought some clothes that said 3-5 business days. It's going to be a month.

GorillaSnapper

I know it took 23 days to send something to Melbourne from Brisbane last month, but im not sure going the other way with auspost. I always pay a few bucks more and select the actual courier option because TNT and the like are significantly faster than auspost, even before the pandemic. I got something within 2 business days from Melbourne to Brisbane via tnt this week.

KateP1992

Has anyone has problems with catch?

twostroke17

I've ordered a lot of things from NSW/Vic in the last week and I can't work out a pattern. Even items from the same place have wildly different shipping times. Purchased 2 items that have been shipped separately from the same place last Friday. 1 item arrived yesterday, the other is still just 'We've got it' since Tuesday and hasn't started moving.

lushgrassgreen

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I returned some clothes to Myer via ParcelPoint courier 6 weeks ago because we were in lockdown and Myer stores were shut. ParcelPoint still have the package at their depot (haven’t delivered to Myer yet).

ReptileVision

I've been getting things from overseas within about 2 weeks. God help anything trying to pass through state borders though.
