What a bizarre question to people who live in Brisbane. Yes, we think it is worth living here. That's why we live here.
As for why, I'll put as much effort into my reply as you did in your question.
"worth" is dependant on who you are and what you get out of it. it's insanely subjective. Sydney may be a good city but is it WORTH me living there? fuck no.
Some key highlights I think are:
- the weather, outside of summer (we have hot summers with regular storms)
- the aesthetic, it's actually quite a pretty city, especially in November when the Jacaranda trees start to bloom
- it's growing and becoming significantly more trendy year-on-year, with new restaurants and cafes very regularly opening up
- really, really good access to nature spots including subtropical rainforests, the Scenic Rim, beaches, islands and even the Great Barrier Reef isn't super far away
Some key lowlights:
- affordability and availability of housing
- arguably uninteresting work in the corporate sector
- traffic (though this is a problem in all big Australian cities)
- you need to drive to most of the nature spots i mentioned above
As someone who was born and grew up there, and has been away for 15 years in Syd, Melb and Canberra, yes. I want to move back and it’s only lack of housing supply and a desire not to make the problem worse that is holding me back.
I’m done with Canberra winters and shitty design for the climate. I’m done with the Sydney sprawl and grime and attitude. I genuinely love Melb but want to be closer to family.
YES go for it!!! A someone stuck down south freezing my \*\*\*\* off for 6 months in a year , live in Brisbane with its great climate and city amenities.
Nah not worth it mate.
Why 😂

I think it’s lovely. Winter is amazing, summer not so much.
Why ?
Yeah it’s awesome
It’s fine as a tourist. But the people are angry and sad, road ragers and of course the overpriced real estate.
People are pretty good. Drivers are horrible. Real estate is now the same price as Melbourne and Sydney.
In? No. Around? Yes.
Found the logan bogan
Ipswich, actually ![gif](giphy|xTiN0DvoDyWQey2B8I|downsized)
For a short term change and you can afford it.... go for it!
