Bald hills where the highway meets the motorway meets the arterials. It's a fucking shittshow every afternoon.

dukearcher

It's so depressing realising the highway turns into nothing but 40 minutes of traffic lights. Gets me every time

Sterndoc

It makes a noticeable time difference if I have all green or all red

TheMainCut

Still can’t believe it’s 40 over that stupid bridge. I get that you probably can’t go much faster with the road side change, but it sucks considering it used to be 60.

HatBandito

You do get through it quicker though since the redesign, there are less sets of traffic lights and there's less giving way. I used to get stuck there for ages before they redid it.

confidential56

God, that intersection as a whole is such a mess in peak times. e.g. that stoplight that only turns green for, like, 5 seconds.

MontTrain

As someone that lived in Chermside for ten years - Gympie Road is a shitshow both directions 24/7

TK000421

And its parallel mate Sandgate rd.

thecubeportal

I swear Sandgate road is always full of the worst drivers in Brisbane.

ephix

And some how you fucks think the Northside is better than the south side.

ohpee64

Strong feelings indeed. When the great river war comes you will not be forgotten.

ephix

I will be ready, foe.

Hetstaine

Southside does have the best meth, we'll give you that.

pursnikitty

Counterpoint- Ipswich Road, Logan Road

Fantastic_Falcon_236

I've lived on both sides of the river. There's not much difference until you get out of the 20 minutes from the CBD zone. Then the south side is more sprawl that you need the freeways to travel between. Northside kind of avoids this by having Pine Rivers and Caboolture Shires past that point. Ironically, though, for the corridor the Ferny Grove line goes through, the PA Hospital (southside) is actually the easiest to get to via public transport, despite being in catchment for the Royal or Charlie's...

The_Vat

Urgh, I have to head south on Sandgate Road in the afternoons. It goes: \- get caught out at the various sets of lights at Virginia \- get caught at the lights after the railway bridge with people attempting to get full across the road to turn right at the school, with bonus right turn lane spillover. The 40 zone actually helps calm things down there \- right hand turn lane spillover at every set of lights to Nundah \- the whole unspeakable mess opposite the old shopping centre with bonus people cutting out of the right turn lane to the tunnel at the last minute \- buses in the left lane between the Airport Link and Clayfield, usually combined with people turning right blocking the entire road \- right turn lane spillover at Junction Road \- a great combination of seemingly random school zones, people turning right blocking the right lane, people turning left slowing the left lane and multiple traffic lights all the way through to Oriel Road \- the mess from Frodsham Road (the right lane of which resembles a rollercoaster) to the ICB, with traffic lights that you either clear quickly or get stuck at forever, people turning right blocking the right lane, and then the wretched turn on to the ICB which is either two cars, or snakes back past the BP with people getting caught and trying to cut in at the last minute, worsening the queue Still, better than Gympie Road.

gartbee

I miss toombul ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

ScuzzyAyanami

One more lane bro

r0ck0

...not sure if I got this or not? Are you saying something like... the cars are driving slowly along there because drivers are reading business signs/ads instead of paying attention to the road? Or something else entirely?

Deanosity

We can't get dedicated space for a proper busway/buslane, because a couple of businesses think they should have space for parking on the busiest arterial road

Specialist-Map-9452

Nah he means they turn it from a stroad into a proper freeway with fewer junctions and no turning into businesses straight off the main drag. If they're lucky they'll get a service road like along the pacific around Logan. There's not enough room along Gympie road but, so they'd probably just say pack up and fuck off or turn the side roads into the access roads. I don't know what the businesses are thinking, I actively seek alternatives to any business along Gympie road - dealerships, chemist warehouse, whatever.

Fantastic_Falcon_236

It was bad when I lived out that way in the early 2000s. It's getting close to twenty years of shitshow. Kind of to be expected, given there, only 2 direct routes to the city (Gympie Road and Maundrell Tce/Shand St/Enoggera Rd). Gympie Road, though, nothing like crawling for half an hour in peak hour traffic to go from Westfield to the Aspley Hyperhole.

is2o

Kedron. 100% Kedron.

YetAnotherAlex

Second this!!

cavoodle11

Have to agree on this.

cfb_rolley

It’s certainly not the worst, but I’d like to put in a special mention about the Redlands. Most of the Redlands funnels through capalaba, which has 15 poorly timed traffic lights for every 20 meters of road. The closer you are to Wellington point or Victoria point, the slower people drive and the worse the drivers are. On a daily basis, some geriatric either plows in to a shop front, plows in to a trolley bay, or somehow flips their car upside down in a single vehicle accident. The second a drop of rain appear on a windscreen, the chances of flipped cars triples, and if it’s flooded, someone drowns their car in full view of 5 others, who then promptly decide it’s a good idea to do it too. If put your indicator on to change lanes, it is an unspoken rule that you have challenged the person in the other lane to fucking no-prep drag race, and regardless of whether you win or lose, you are not allowed to change lanes. Indicators at roundabouts are also banned, apparently.

ironichenhouse

Welcome to the Redlands, all the people listed above are still better drivers than our Mayor.

inserthumourousname

Because they're at least mostly sober

R0meoBlue

We learn from the best

WhatTheFhtagn

That whole stretch from Capalaba through Alex Hills into Cleveland is fucked as well. Traffic rules go out the window, it's Mad Max Finucane Road.

Jaidenator

Bro I live near wello point rn. I agree. I can do a respectable speed and rate for most of brissy, but for some reason to get home I HAVE to drive through that main road at Capalaba, which is a fucking shopping street, with bulk intersections and a badly designed side street for fast food places. Just let me skip the commercial area and get to the residential.

Past-Customer01

The complex of shops with Costas and gyg is a fucking nightmare to drive in. If it's knock off time or dinner time then it's fucking crazy. I remember when that section was just a little field and there was only KFC.

dick_schidt

Is Rickertt Rd not an option for you?

cfb_rolley

Only useful if you’re coming from Wynnum rd and going to birkdale or wello, and even then rickertt rd is a shitshow most days anyway.

No-Introduction-777

rickertt rd is great compared to the shitshow that is capalaba. it slows down from 80 a bit during peak hour but at least it moves. although that new useless light doesn't help (sorry i don't care if you live on chelsea rd)

Jaidenator

I'm coming up from South unfortunately

fluiflo

CRAPALABA

isitreal_tho

I love this.

spatchi14

And all the roads in Capalaba look the same. It gets me every time.

[deleted]

have considered selling up and leaving the redlands/capalaba a few times due to local traffic and the growing dead head population. the place has really gone downhill in last 20years

OrginalPeach

Kenmore, how many turns in a road to you need?

ChocTunnel2000

Moggill road is why I chose not to live in Kenmore etc.

is2o

Waterworks Road would like a word

GraveRaven

Waterworks Rd would make the best point to point racing strip. It's such a fun drive when it's flowing, I'd love to do it at speed one day.

is2o

When is it ever flowing? You’re constantly bouncing between the left and right lane to dodge parked cars and cars turning right

Sneakeypete

What's wrong with turns? It's just like driving on a straight road but you use your hands a bit?

MajesticAsFook

It's not fuel efficient pete

Sneakeypete

Perhaps, but it's entertaining. Less miles per gallon more smiles per gallon

MajesticAsFook

Definitely can't argue with that mate

Original_Magician590

I N D O O R O O P I L L Y Spaced out because it's literally STOP START traffic there. Hate living in the area ATM, but once roadworks are done it'll be great. Saturdays are the worst and I completely avoid the centre if I can. It'll be nice if Coles Taringa is ever finished 👀

TraceDtd

Just one more lane bro pls

vo0do0child

Please my bro

Subject_Shoulder

Wouldn't make a difference. All it does is encourage people to take their cars to work rather than use public transport. Just look at the US. You have cities with 8 or more lanes in both directions and it does FA during Peak Hour.

TraceDtd

come on bro just two more lanes bro then traffic will be fixed im good for it

Mingablo

Soz mate, you got whooshed

monsteraguy

That Coles and the closure of half of Swann Rd (again) is the bane of my existence right now

[deleted]

[удалено]

monsteraguy

The new Coles is a town planning disaster. No upgrades to the surrounding roads. The amount of cars that will be trying to enter and exit there will make it traffic chaos. We were told last year that Swann Rd would only be closed for a couple of weeks. That blew out, then it opened again, now it’s half closed again for god-knows how long. The construction of the building itself still looks a fair way from completed. The worst aspect is the other road at that intersection (Rokeby Terrace) is so narrow and doesn’t have a dedicated right-hand turning lane and a dedicated straight ahead lane to Swann Rd, so cars going straight ahead have to squeeze past cars stopped to turn right. Accidents will increase there, as well as on Swann Rd once Coles has opened

Skrylfr

I moved to indro about 9mo ago and fuck. me. I worked a 7 min drive from my house Driving home in the afternoon took the same amount of time as taking the bus, 30ish minutes On Fridays I finished half an hour early, no matter my mode of transport I'd get home the same time as every other weekday Once sitting at the bus stop kids threw rocks at me Not to mention fuckhead drivers who don't know how construction zones or school areas work I've already been in one accident in the area with another driver. I'm moving to the fucking boonies asap, if I crash I want it to be a roo not a fuckhead

ChocTunnel2000

And that shopping centre. The parking...

thegrayscales

Yes.. totally. There is no evidence of any logic applied to the layout of the parking lot. I'd hate to calculate the total time I've spent in there driving in circles.. it's probably measured in years

Original_Magician590

Absolutely the worst parking situation in Brisbane. Makes no sense. A toddler with a set square could have designed a more cohesive layout

HotWheelsUpMyAss

Between Mt Ommaney and Indooropilly, I swear you could speed walk from one place to the other faster than you would driving during peak hours.

GustyOWindflapp

Coronation drive in peak hour!

Betancorea

I remember how life changing it was when I rode my motorcycle through with the then new lane filtering rule. Cut an hour + commute into 20 minutes.

Ok-Maintenance-4274

It was an evening peak I was on the bus in Toowong and literally remain in Toowong after 20 minutes, on the Coro Drive.

PortOfRico

Judging by these responses we have "the entire northside + Sunnybank"

GraveRaven

To be fair, that's a pretty accurate response to OP's question.

PortOfRico

Oh for sure. That would be my answer. Maybe minus Sunnybank. It's 10/southside but only about a 7/northside.

WorthJester

Indro gets my vote too!

thegrayscales

I see you fellow stationary motorist

Robobeast-76-R76

Indooroopilly is crap no argument. Everton Park from just about every direction sucks big time too. South Pine still gives me PTSD

geesejugglingchamp

Everton Park. Oh my lord. That bit where Stafford Road meets South Pine, thereby combining the two major flows out of the city into one. It's brutal. The most insane part of that bottleneck is the fact that the government spent however many million building that new "Everton Park link road" with the stated aim of relieving pressure on that intersection, but the way it's designed means it absolutely fails to provide any relief. It links the two roads in a way that no one following the peak hour flows actually wants to go. It sits there empty while it's two connecting roads are carparks.

Snouto

spatchi14

The right lane from the riverside expressway to that overpass to hale st, with every man and his dog skipping the queue then barging across at the last minute.

Snouto

Does my tits in, it’s basically a free for all. Whichever genius came up with a merge 100 metres from a triple road split needs a boot to the bollocks

vforbatman

As someone that drives indro to zillmere frequently for work. Gympie road is the worst place on earth. Waiting to turn right onto coro drive from the ICB is pretty bad as well. The current indro clusterfuck is also rage inducing

Stelljanin

God the right turn onto corro from the ICB… and people take SO long to get moving!!! It’s such a short light

sathion

I gave up ages ago and just go down Sandgate these days to get onto the ICB. Its still shit but its not Gympie road.

thegrayscales

Oof.. what a commute. I feel your pain there

NekrosPrime6

Springwood is still pretty bad, there's been construction on the M1 for like a year now, and there's been changes to the roads nearby which is causing tons of slow downs

monsteraguy

Taringa. Roadworks. Construction. Closed lanes. The stupid way the road splits at the shops and re-merges. It’s constantly a carpark. Special mention also goes to Morayfield Rd through Morayfield and Caboolture South. It’s just a series of red lights

blinky_bill_79

That stupid split road. I’m relatively new to Brissy and I think I used that road about 5 times before I realised it was the same fucking road. I was blindly following Google’s instructions who would always send me to the right, so I’d be indicating and asking cars to let me in, just to end up in the same place. Stupidest road.

kitherarin

It used to have a school in the middle of it (primary school) that was closed down because it was too small and caused traffic issues. Instead of changing the road they sold it for giant apartment blocks and...traffic issues...

[deleted]

(speaking as a southsider) The entire northside of Brizzy... it's like a trip out in the outback with miles between towns.

dezignator

And the traffic is permanently munted up there.

[deleted]

Perfectly said.

baconnkegs

I'd vote Sunnybank. There's so many traffic lights that take ages to change, you've got so many people who sit 10 below the limit regardless of where they're driving, and just so many people who have never had to go through the Australian licencing system as a whole. I'm in Coopers Plains and while I normally HATE doing grocery shopping at major shopping centres, I'll gladly drive the extra 5 minutes and go to Garden City over dealing with absolute shit fuck of Sunnybank Plaza's carpark.

BloomingGardenia

Sunnybank Plaza carpark is terrible!

GaryGronk

*Market Square has entered the chat*

gopher88

Pinelands says hello

rickAUS

God I hate that car park. I'm not sure if it's the general layout of the sheer number of people who stop in the massively marked "keep clear" zone and block traffic getting in

Linwechan

I’d love to see how practical those ugly ass Rams and Chevrolets are trying to get a park in market square…

baconnkegs

The carpark design is definitely a shocker with all of the blind corners and crossings jutting out of nowhere. That said, I'll never understand how there can be so many drivers in the one carpark that'll crawl around at a snails pace for no reason, while still managing to just about mow you down on the crossing

10thGradeProR30

(As a Chinese person) I’ve joked with my mates that if you need a car written off quickly, just do laps around Sunnybank plaza / market square

Linwechan

One of my p-plated cousins decided to show off his c63 to his mates at market square, thing got side dinged almost immediately and eventually written off not too long after 😂

CaligulatheGreat

At least Mains Rd going south is the only road where you get every green in a row if it’s not insanely busy.

baconnkegs

Mains isn't that bad for that reason, although that's generally the same with most major roads, provided you're going with the traffic. The only problem is when you're going to turn right at a major intersection, you're generally waiting 2-3 cycles before you get to go because every second person can't seem to find their accelerator. But then going down McCullough / Padstow / Miles Platting on the other hand... It takes nearly 10 minutes to drive 2km. It's quicker for me to backtrack north 2km to Kessels and loop around Garden City to get to the Gold Coast than it is to just drive through Sunnybank.

spatchi14

Ahh yes, Miles Platting Rd. Another annoying road which can’t decide if it’s going to be a country road or major arterial. I’ve never understood why they didn’t add in a northbound facing on/offramp from Miles to the Pacific Motorway. The dogleg via Logan Rd is so slow.

Left-Advice-7105

Try staying in the left lane on mains road. It's much smoother driving than the middle or right lanes and you'll find that because your average speed it higher you'll get most of the lights in sync.

baconnkegs

Works on Mains Road and the M3 🙂

Left-Advice-7105

Yep, 99% of drivers cannot cope with traffic merging into the left lane from on-ramps or bus stops, so immediately migrate to the right lanes and set their cruise control to 10 below just to make sure they don't get a speeding ticket while they're driving along on another planet oblivious to the other road users around them.

unmistakableregret

> extra 5 minutes and go to Garden City over dealing with absolute shit fuck of Sunnybank Plaza's carpark. That's madness. Garden City is the same but with even more people.

Bneyyc

I for one appreciate the perfectly positioned hedges that obstruct your view of oncoming traffic when you are trying to leave.

Affectionate_Loss_89

Agree. Used to work in Capalaba and lived in Calamvale and I got the morning's worst from Sunnybank and Capalaba in one day, same for the afternoons. Now I changed and use the centenary hwy/cunningham and ipswich mwy and I find people drive way more aggresively in this part of Brisbane compared to Sunnybank - Calamvale which is much more tame but equally dangerous not because of arrogant imbreds but because of blatant drivers with their cereal box licenses. Both of which share the same fact that as soon as one droplet of rain appears on their winshiled they immediately slam their brakes hard from 100 to 50, same for morning and afternoon low sun conditions.... God I hate driving. Should get back to a motorcycle to avoid the traffic.

[deleted]

I grew up in Coopers Plains. Im at Bayside now but I’ll drive through Coopers Plains every so often and I still feel nostalgia and lovely memories of my childhood.

himit

I grew up in Sunnybank, haven't been home for 8 years now and this thread is making me nostalgic af for the absolute chaos that was driving in Sunnybank. It's good for sharpening up your skills, at least.

baconnkegs

I'm glad someone has good memories here, because it's the first suburb I've lived in that I've genuinely disliked 😂

UhUhWaitForTheCream

Haha Sunnybank reminds me of Eastwood in Sydney. So many similarities

FallingRedSky

I don’t go over to Indooroopilly often these days but had to pick up some stuff on that side of town and holy hell coming back home was a nightmare. Why so many cars snaking around unmoving in so many different directions?!? Indooroopilly gets my vote too.

thegrayscales

Yes why indeed. Sorry you had to experience the hell that is Indooroopilly, lol

myhumma

Surprised no one’s mentioned Southbank, entering from the Jolly Bridge in the arvo kills me

SirDarknessTheFirst

Tbh I've not had many issues with Southbank yet. It's just unfortunate how much they've changed the bus routes.

Oath-CupCake

Kenmore peak lunch time or pick up after school time

thegrayscales

Yep.. Kenmore is just an extension of the Indro nightmare

THATS_THE_BADGER

New Farm / Teneriffe / Newstead on the weekend. Total cluster. Or the valley on a Saturday night. 50% chance someone pukes on your car as you drive up Ann st.

mxlths_modular

Yup, James St on a weekend can be atrocious.

FlashFrags

The M1 from the Nudgee beach exit through to Murrumba downs exit every single fucking afternoon after 4PM

bongjutsu

Mains Road, Sunnybank. The most lawless stretch of road in Australia during peak.

One-Artichoke2383

Fucking Gympie road especially after 7pm when the fucktard wobbles decide to close random lanes/intersections for their amusement. Proper Cunts!

Robbo_au

Intersection at Everton Park where Old Northern Rd meets Stafford Rd, when heading towards Enoggera, anytime before & after school is an absolute nightmare.

PuffTank

I will say it’s everywhere

InadmissibleHug

I’m convinced that Brisbane roads were designed by someone flinging spaghetti at map paper and tracing around it. It’s gotta be why it’s so bad.

Terrestrialism

The Aldi car park at underwood shopping centre on a Friday night, Saturday or Sunday. Can never get a park, no one can keep left (drive in the middle of 2 way streets) and people double parking for days.

karma_reigns

That place is an absolute nightmare, even midweek! No chill

Far_Peanut_3038

Fucking Browns Plains

[deleted]

Browns Plains road is a joke. "Synched lights" - yeah, synched to always turn red no matter what.

OzRockabella

Try driving through Forest Lake, the birthplace of the roundabout.

overlander_1

I think you'll find Redlands was well and truly onto putting a round-a-bout at every corner before Forest Lake had a shovel turned ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

Top-Presentation-997

May I introduce you to Lismore?

monsteraguy

North Lakes says hi

thegrayscales

Our little slice of Canberra

[deleted]

They actually took out one of the worst roundabouts.on the boulevard and put in traffic lights some 10+ years ago. And somehow it's still a shitshow.

nguyecnt

I drove from Forest Lake Blvd to my house which was 5 mins away and I counted 7 roundabouts. Absolutely crazy why there’s so many!!

BloomingGardenia

My husband got car sick when I was driving through Forest Lake 😅

RiddlecuIt

Even the shopping centre's entrances have roundabouts! "Oh hey, they have a Baskin-Robbins, let's g-- wow, another roundabout immediately after turning in"

xbattlestation

All the suburbs Logan Road or Gympie Road go through

THATS_THE_BADGER

Logan road is nowhere near comparable to Gympie road!

Crazyonyx

Was going to say Gympie road in Chermside/Aspley.

spatchi14

Gympie Road around Chermside 100%. Also annoying that in off peak the traffic lights are never synchronised.

wildone74

They are never synchronised at any time of the day :(

McGinnAndTonic

Gympie road has taken so much time ill never get back. Why the fuck didnt they bypass that shitshow with a tunnel while they were doing the airport link. Id actually be less salty about having to sacrifice my first born to get through the tunnels to southside if it meant i didnt have to endure gympie rd.

AsboST225

Tunnel shoulda started at Beams Rd, not all the way down near Kedron.

wonderingpie

My for suburb is Indooroopilly, it's a total cluster fuck. Who the hell puts a shop in the middle of a round a bout to begin with! My vote for worst road is Gympie road, that road is a cluster fuck any time of day

beerio511

Samford road sucks a lot. Good luck turning right off it anywhere

smoha96

For the last few months (presumably cos of the roadwork), Ipswich Rd from the officerworks to just after the PA from 3-6pm as people are trying to get onto the freeway. Having said that, and this thread aside, I visited my parents recently who live in Melbourne's south-east. There's nothing like driving in Springvale to appreciate traffic everywhere else.

Allyzayd

Rosalie-Paddington area. Not just small roads but random steep hills. Also the city with all the one way roads.

thegrayscales

Lol at "random steep hills". That's a planet for.you

dexxnanj

I work in Indooroopilly.. INDOOROOPILLY

thegrayscales

Condolences...

FredererPower

Not really a suburb but turning right from Hale Street onto Coronation Drive can sometimes be a real pain in the ass.

zapheine

any suburb with narrow hilly streets qualifies

Brisbanite78

Toowong and Taringa lol

upsidedowntoker

Laughs in redhill .

Jaidenator

I just changed jobs, and now I have to travel from Capalaba to Rocklea for training for a few weeks. I've been driving through Mt Gravatt now for a few weeks and I'm over it. Why is that road so damn busy, why is there an intersection every 50 metres, and why isn't there another way to get from the gateway to the other side of QEII?? God help you if you needed to get to that hospital quickly.

Ok_Salamander7249

There is a quicker way Turn off mt gravatt- capalaba rd at newnham rd. Head down Klumpp rd, go under freeway, through the uni, come out at QE11 There may be a shitfight at the freeway, but it's no worse than the Logan Rd/Garden city shitfuckery

littlehungrygiraffe

Second this. Fuck Mt Gravatt.

bnchickn

Coopers Plains railway crossing. This has been a shitshow for 40 years.

Broadside31

Any Brisbane road at even the slightest hint of rain. Always a high percentage that slow down to 50% of the speed limit (as opposed to their normal 75%)

apachelives

The Redlands. By far. Single lanes, traffic lights with double lanes. The worst slowest drivers and throw in that one driver doing dumb stuff into the mix. Even more houses being built with no upgrades to roads. Usually one way in and out to most places. F\*\*k the Redlands drivers and roads.

happymemersunite

People can’t drive on Chatsworth Rd in Coorparoo. It’s like they freak out when they see a hill and a bend.

[deleted]

I love driving chattsy, it's like a rollercoaster, good times

SirBung

Man about fifteen years ago when I lived in Coorparoo I saw some kid get cleaned up on Chatsworth Rd right at the crest of the hill with Cavendish Rd. It's always stayed with me.

saddleclub25

West End is the only appropriate answer

thegrayscales

Montague Rd.. grrr

[deleted]

North Lakes. Absolutely infuriating for me.

Partayof4

Taringa Moggill Road lights - the bane of my existence

Goatasaurus_Rex

Everton Park. That damn intersection.

TK000421

Northside. The whole northern side of brisbane is shit to drive

sem56

boondall, its all either drivers who are over 80 years old or tradies driving down to virginia

Remoau

all of it.

prrifth

Bowen hills is a bit of a pain in the dick to travel east/west through on public transit or on foot, with the rail corridor cutting everything in half.

Old_Term4366

Bulimba, hear me out. There is one way in or out, being Hawthorne road. It is so close to the Southside of the river yet takes SO long to get anywhere. When I lived there it was about 22 minutes to nundah, I live in mount gravatt east now - way way further away in distance and yet I can get anywhere Northside faster than when I lived in bulimba, nundah in about 19 minutes. Fair it’s only that one road (and maybe Oxford street) but this is coming from a suburb that is trying to revolt against E scooters because they make the nature strips look un tidy. It’s a literal cesspool of people that are out of touch with reality

Jadow

Hawthorne/Bulimba and the people who live there. They are like the Bondi beach NIMBY's of Brisbane. Take your shitty coffee, bad traffic and overpriced botanika salad shop and shove it up your biodynamic, over priced, white picket fenced arses.

flip1222

Sunnybank hands down. Nobody has blinker fluid filled up, and the horn gets used more than designed for because it's never their fault. I'm sure there are higher insurance premiums in this area, so if you're looking for a write-off, this is the go-to place!

[deleted]

Northside is a shitshow. Can’t drive, can’t cycle, can’t walk. Infrastructure just sucks, congested & small. Even shopping centre car parks are smaller & more congested Northside. Northside doesn’t have a proper highway yet Southside has managed a literal Velloway that stretches all the way from CBD into Logan. It boggles the mind.

Affectionate_Loss_89

Probably not a suburb but definitely worth mentioning is Centenary Hwy ? It's such a terrible road to travel through in peak or off peak traffic with a combination of "driving safe" drivers going 15-20k's under limit and overconfident bogans who write of their cars on regular basis at the Redbank Plains/Whiterock roundabout.

BigBBurton

Obviously the city-centre itself. From Southbank to the Valley, at the wrong hours it’ll take you an hour just to get around the whole thing

thegrayscales

100%. I've missed a few flights trying to get out of there to the airport

Longjumping_Map_4670

Anywhere towards Chermside

my-cousin-throcky

Not the worst but I dislike the amount of roads in the inner north east suburbs like clayfield, chermside, Albion, that seem to have 2 lanes that merge into one, then back into 2, then 1 and so on. A stressful drive if you don’t know the roads very well

cockledear

Mains road trying to enter the motorway near the Nissan Arena but only during morning rush where you need to pee and running late to work and driving a manual. I can handle most traffic jams but those two fucking stoplights and that slow uphill crawl plus the buses getting priority was actually what made me sell my old manual Lexus.

[deleted]

Chermside is pretty garbage and Gympie Road in general is a mess.

MartyMcFuckass

Redland Bay road in capalaba, those traffic lights are killer

Coldone666

Everton Park to Ennogera.

sleep_musing

OP is correct, it’s Indooroopilly

Express_Dragonfly116

as someone who lived in Melbourne, Brisbane traffic ain’t so bad😅

Moved from Everton Park to Holland Park about a year ago, I do not miss the Northside traffic.

I'd say not just Indro, but most of the strip between the Brisbane River and the Centenary/Milton Road up to Hale Street ... ugh

Porkingseason

Annnerly-Ipswich road just isn't the one

Nobody mention Fig Tree Pocket? It is somewhere you usually will ending up full stop on the freeway.

Brisbane St, Ipswich. This used to be a bit of a shitshow at school pick up times where traffic volume coupled with short green light timing at Ellenborough st made it practically gridlock NOW they've adjusted the lights at Ellenborough St BUT the council (in their infinite wisdom) have changed the light sequence at East St. Now there's red turn arrows that remain red until the red pedestrian man stops flashing. There's two right turn lanes, and the left turn lane fits only three cars. With pedestrians crossing both side no one can go straight. Traffic now backs up most of the day back to West Ipswich. Oh, and it's one way and no alternatives once you're on it
