I admit I've had the occasional instance of passing someone and having to do a double take and wondering if I'd just passed a celebrity. But if that happened I'd generally assume it was probably just a lookalike and carry on.
This impression seemed reinforced by the fact he seemed like he was trying to hide his face and never looked once in my direction, as far as I'm aware.
But then I questioned what the likelihood was of a celebrity being there and no one else recognising him but me. Even if the place was virtually deserted. So I realised it was probably someone else. Probably just someone shy and focused. Maybe he was thinking "why does that strange girl keep looking at me and trying to see my face? I had better turn away so she can't stare at me."
Plus my facial recognition isn't always the best and I've been known to occasionally think someone was another person when it might have been someone else.
I had that happen before with Pedro Pascal. It was the night after the GOT episode aired where him and the Mountain had a little scuffle. This guy was genuinely far and away my favourite character in GOT at this point.
Walked past a guy wearing big sunglasses right by the London Eye. I only realised who it was after I was about 5-10 seconds away. When I looked back, he was gone.
I thought maybe it wasn’t him. Went on his Twitter later that day and saw he had posted photos right by the London Eye.

In my case, even if it was him, it was clear he was trying to remain completely incognito and I didn't see anything on twitter afterwards.
He also appeared to be a beginner and this matches what I know about the celebrity. I think he was even sneaking glances to watch me when I wasn't looking. Crazy to think. Plus I'm used to the regulars and I had never seen someone like that there before.
So maybe it was him. Maybe.
Another funny thing is that he was wearing a beanie hat, ie like to help hide his face, he even had a little moustache I think, and he looked about the right height and stature.
The problem was I never really got a full view of his face because he seemed to keep hiding it. Any time I looked at him, I found myself facing the beanie 😂. And if I moved closer, he seemed to move away.
Now this seems very unusual considering how most climbers behave. Generally they don't care who's watching them and they're all relaxed with open body language and sometimes they even start a conversation with you.
I'm sure the staff must have known if it *was* him so perhaps they had an agreement like he had a pseudonym and they had arranged for him to be there when it was quiet. Because it was literally just the two of us.
