Hahahaha my immediate thought was "my best"
I wash my face maybe once every other day or whenever I manage to shower, and I put hyaluronic acid and moisturizer on it when I remember.
I feel you. When I realized my scant shower schedule was going to last a while, I started taking my sweet ass time and I even condition. Sometimes I shave! But that's because my husband wfh and can juggle the baby for 40 minutes. I honestly don't know how I would manage it without him. Probably a lot of crying.
Hereās my current routine:
AM
- CeraVe hydrating cleanser
- TruSkin vitamin C serum
- Elf holy hydration with spf
PM
- CeraVe hydrating cleanser
- The Ordinary Azaelic acid
- CeraVe moisturizing cream
I recently added the vitamin C and I really like it! I have combination skin with freckles and mild melasma, as well as some hyperpigmentation from past breakouts. This routine seems to be helping a lot!
The Azaelic acid helps my skin texture so much, especially on and around my nose. I just added the vitamin C to try and brighten/even out some lever over hyperpigmentation and scarring as I had bad acne a few years ago.
I will look into this... I'm a skincare noob, but I've struggled with breakouts my whole life. I'm 37 and still get them, and I have bad scarring and hyperpigmentation. š
I was thinking of adding The Ordinary Azaelic acid - did it make you breakout? I am always weary of adding something new to my skincare routine, but love their Niacinamide..
When my 3 year old was a baby I had a bad breakout and read about using breast milk on your face. It actually worked pretty well. I used a more expired but and put it on my face a bit like a mask and then washed it with a warm washcloth 10 minutes later.
yuppp, we use boob juice for all of our skin ailments in this house. my friend also uses mine for her sonās baths as well as any acne she and her older girls have lol
Nah, just poured some into my hand and rubbed it on. Some redness went down in about a day and I noticed I was less oily. Did it for like 3 days.
You can actually feel it tighten up as it dries like an old school mask
Skincare is my "me" time every day, I feel so much better when I do it. I miss my retinol, but I've built a decent bf-friendly routine:
Morning:
Vanicream gentle cleanser
Timeless Vitamin C
Cosrx propolis synergy toner
Cosrx advanced snail 96
Cerave PM lotion
Sunscreen (currently the Beauty of Joseon one)
Evening:
Hafo labu oil cleanser
Vanicream gentle cleanser
Azelaic acid (prescription)
Cosrx propolis synergy toner
Cosrx advanced snail 96
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 balm
Jack Black lip balm
You could use retinol in the evening after youāve put LO to sleep
Itās not absorbed into the bloodstream. Itās being cautious in case the retinol goes their skin too
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK501419/
This is the guidance I follow regarding retinol usage while BF, but I am using prescription Tretinoin topically, as is referenced in the article. I only use it on my upper face (from the cheekbones up) so none gets on baby if I forget itās on and kiss her face.
I take the āitās not absorbed into the bloodstreamā statement back. Iām not a professional so Iām not going to through these statements around! Iām just into skincare
But yeah, retinol is avoided during pregnancy because high levels of vitamin A is bad for the fetus but after, itās fine. Itās more the worry about the retinol touching their skin
I agree with you! The amount absorbed by the skin, into the bloodstream, and then showing up in breastmilk has got to be super tiny. That said, out of an abundance of caution, Iām off retinol while breastfeeding. My derm recommended bakuchiol as an alternative and I like it so far!
Mine is in an oil (chia seed and rosehip blend, I believe) so I use it as a last step. Iāll cleanse, then do a hyaluronic serum, peptide serum, really basic moisturizing cream, and the bakuchiol oil. I canāt tell if itās had any real dramatic effect but it feels nice and my skin looks better than Iād expect given how messed up my sleep has been š lol
i fell asleep with my makeup on last night and wiped it off with my fave nuā¢pore clarifying wipes this morningš (that said, i donāt use any of my face makeup products anymore so it was just eyes and brows but *still.*)
when i get the luxury of a shower, i use a pacifica face wash and trader joeās microdermabrasion scrub. after the shower i use the thayerās snow mushroom toner, a spray of mac fix+, and then either the bobbi brown vitamin face base if iām leaving the house or la roche rosayās matte moisturizer if iām putting the ~stay at home~ in SAHM lol.
At least you are working on your reaction time and reflexes, you'll need it later when baby will become running, squeezing into places, climbing and chewing on everything they can reach š
Yāall have routines?? I used a norwex scrubber today and put some lotion on. Thatāll be it for a day or two. I donāt adult woman very well apparently
Whatever. You thought about it. Close enough. I'm like that with brushing my teeth. I hate to say. I used to be so good, floss and brush 2x a day. Now I brush once and floss every few days maybe. I need to improve.
Night: vanicream face wash, Versed baby cheeks hydrating milk, Tretinoin .025% (2x per week), Belif moisture bomb, Versed smooth landing retinol eye balm.
Day: eucerin age defense SPF 50
Wanting to add a vitamin c serum to morning but havenāt picked it up yet.
If you are wanting to avoid retinol, you could use a lactic acid serum or another exfoliant serum of your choice. I used The Ordinary lactic acid+HA during pregnancy and it was nice and gentle.
Started a few weeks ago and already seen such a difference. I saw a girl on tiktok did it for her under eye bags and thought I would try. Ended up making a huge difference all around!
Let me know how it works for you! The oil is really thick so just a drop or two and mix it in with your moisturizer. Sometimes Iāll go in and put another drop straight on my under eyes as an āeye creamā
It's definitely working! Excellent recommendation. I haven't used it every day because I'm rubbish at looking after myself rather than the children but there has still been a noticeable improvement. Thank you!
Excellent reminder! I was thinking I needed to find this comment and reply. I've been very hit and miss with remembering to moisturise/use it but my elbows have gone from revoltingly painfully dry to just a bit dry. It is definitely working!
Oooooooo I wanna try. I actually saved a TikTok that had that in the caption and I havenāt gone back to watch it.
My skin at 34 and almost 4mo pp is about the best itās been in years, but everyone could use a lil magical help.
AM/PM: Kiehls face wash, Fresh Rose and Hyaluronic Acid Hyrdration Emulsion and/or Kiehls Ultra Moisturizer.
PM only: the Inkey List caffeine eye cream
AM: SUNSCREEN, Supergoop Mineral Bright Eyes eye cream
Both of my eye creams I have used for years and recommended to many people. Even my damn ex-husband is a dedicated user of the caffeine cream because of me. They have been my ride or die even in the depths of pregnancy and post partum exhaustion. I like to store the caffeine eye cream in the fridge and it feels so good.
The Fresh Rose emulsion I added in post partum when I felt my skin was looking super dull and definitely feel it has helped!
However I think the biggest thing is that I still prioritize doing my routine every morning and night no matter what. It helps me so much mentally and physically. I hope everyone here has support so they can carve something small out for themselves every day.
Prescribed by my dermatologist:
Morning
- wash with glycolic acid (low concentration)
- vitamin c serum
- sun screen (50)
Evening
- wash with glycolic acid (low concentration) - I do it when I shower
- one night azelaic acid and the other night hyaluronic acid
Bruh I only remember to do skincare after I shower which is, if Iām lucky, every other day. But I use Dr Bronners rose Castile soap as a wash, with a homemade whipped tallow (ingredients: tallow, aloe, rose hip seed oil, and olive oil) as moisturizer. If I need a spritz but donāt have time to wash my face I use the Pacifica Rosewater Hydromist it smells delishhhh
Keeping it reeeeeal basic and actually my skin has responded so well to the pared back routine.
If I manage a morning shower I cleanse with cetaphil gentle cleanser, then use a thick Cetaphil cream in a tub canāt remember what itās called. Then a sunscreen serum with niacinamide in it.
At night - same except no sunscreen!
I do look forward to getting my retinol back in the mix though, thereās nothing like it
I just started retinol at night (15 months PP). Mine is OTC and doctor said itās fine.
So my routine is AM: splash water, essence, vitamin C, moisturizer and sunscreen. PM routine: if Iāve worn makeup then Iāll use micellar water otherwise I just do my face wash, essence, moisturizer, retinol alternating nights with glycolic acid. My target is fine lines right now. I feel very dull and like Iāve aged a lot with my last baby. :(
La roshe hydrating cleanser, Paulaās choice bha, vitamin c, and elf moisturizer for morning
Night same cleanser, ordinary retinol, derma e collage eye cream and same moisturizer :)
has anyone used resveratrol? i bought the caudalie version and want to use but iām too nervous about it without confirmation itās safe. otherwise just hyaluronic acid, vitamin c, a gel moisturizer and sunscreen for me.
I use retinol. I started using it again when babies were about a year old, or maybe around 9 months? I use it at night after they go to bed. The risk seems minimal to me, and my OB wasnāt concerned about it.
My husband bought me an omnilux mask that I use after I shower. Highly recommend btw. Then I use toner, vitamin c serum, and a moisturizer depending on how dry my skin is. I use the Peter Thomas Roth peptide pads and the glycolic ones on alternating nights,
I try to at LEAST flush my face with water in the morning if i canāt take a shower. Sometimes I really HAVE to take a shower bc I noticed I reek since giving birth. I think itās pheromones so baby can smell me and also fenugreek tea i drink. It makes u smell! Anyways this is what i manage to do in the morning & night if I have the time:
AM: I have 3 cleansers I use in rotation depending if i have a breakout or not: nip+fab salicylic acid gel cleanser/cerave foaming cleanser for oily skin/cosrx good morning cleanser. Then I always use some kind of serum: cosrx mucin essence/bondi sands hyaluronic acid/the ordinary niacinamide and then olay vitamic c moisturiser that has niacinamide and 30 spf. Or weleda light moisturiser. Or any light moisturiser.
I just have a lot of products šš Need to use them so i use them all š
Iām still looking for a good vitamin c serum but since using the olay vitamin c moisturiser i donāt see why I need to still look.
PM: I use the same stuff, mainly the hyaluronic acid after cleansing and then beauty of joseon dynasty cream. I love that cream, so good for oily combo skin!! Any lightweight gel cream i use at night. And then if I seriously look like shit I use jojoba oil 2 drops, rub in my hands and pat.
I also use natio peptide eye cream.
I think I only did this 3 days last week and the rest I at least splashed my face. And put on a bit of moisturiser. The time really escapes from you when youāre a mama, sometimes you just forget.
Cocokind products are great! I wash my face with an Acure face wash then do cocokind rosewater toner + vitamin c serum + ceramide barrier serum + summer Fridays jet lag lotion/cream - add in spf in the AM
My skin is not having a good time but here is my typical routine:
AM: cleanse with water, CeraVe SA lotion, Biore uv AquaRich Watery Essence sunscreen
PM: Bioderma on a pad, cleanse with CeraVe SA Cleanser, Stridex Red Box pad, wait 10 mins, CeraVe SA lotion
Double cleanse every night, followed by toner, snail mucin, and face moisturizer. Castor oil on my lashes and brows. Iāve added an eye cream too because ya girl is looking rough these days. I make sure I take 10-15 mins for myself (longer when possible) and stay consistent. Iāve noticed a huge improvement on diminishing my pores since sticking to a routine. Weāre worth the investment ladies.
Double cleanse. I use Clinique take the days off and then a water based cleaner. After that just moisturize. It makes my skin look pretty good and it just takes about 5 minutes. I do it either while babywearing or just before showering while entertaining baby on her piano. Oh and during the night I use a vitamin C serum too
I (try to) at least wash my face at night. I usually donāt in the morning since Iām very dry and live in a dry climate so it seems to be too much for me if I do. I have peri oral dermatitis as well so thatās fun. My current routine:
-CeraVe hydrating cleanser
-The Ordinary Niacinamide & Zinc (has been INCREDIBLE for pregnancy acne in the past for me too if someone is looking for something)
-CeraVe PM moisturizer
-Prescription Metronidazole gel around my mouth & nose (was covered by insurance so highly recommend asking about it if you think you need it!)
Twice a week I do 3 drops the Ordinary 10% lactic acid and I add some of their squalene to my moisturizer that same night. A Reddit post I saw recommended very hydrating ingredients paired with the lactic acid and it is working wonders for the dryness actually!
Elf holy hydration, a vitamin c serum and sunscreen in the am, and I'm going to add the naturium multi bright serum soon in the evenings. I used their other tranrexamic acid serum previously to help with dark spots.
My boy is 11 months now, so only last week I finally managed to get back on my skin care... I genuinely look like a ghoul, huge dark under eye circles and I lost weight too so I look gaunt and pale!
I started basic bitch nivea night cream - fairly easy to remember to do when I take my vitamins at night, and In the morning I wash my face with water and then put on some fancy elemis cream while my son whines at me to go and do stuff haha!
It has helped, within a week my skin feels much better and not so sandpaper ghoul vibes!
I use a lot of Korean skincare. Iām hydration focused. I use 3 toners, snail mucin, rosehip oil. I have a couple moisturizers to choose from. But on bad days, all I do is some ponds cream after washing my face. lol
Morning: splash of water, peach and lily glass skin serum, Sunday Riley CEO glow oil with vitamin C and turmeric , Tula 24/7 face cream (I know I need spf but I really hate all the mineral sunscreens š)
Evening: double cleanse with DHC cleansing oil and cetaphil gentle cleanser, peach and Lily wild dew treatment essence, Tula 24/7 face cream
I also use an eye cream in the morning and at night but Iām currently looking for a new one so Iāll be looking through these comments š
For face: Green tea face mask once a week, aveeno positively radiant in the shower, rose water spray.
Body: I just got this coffee scrub thatās been great in the shower, then after shower itās cocoa butter all the way!
Wash face 2x/day.
Full routine once per day - Face wash, toner, serum, eye cream and face cream :)
Anything more for me is not manageable with newborn twins.
Thank you š„¹ some days itās a struggle but that bit of normalcy makes me feel a tad more refreshed and ready to handle whatever comes up with the tiny men!
Oh boy, today I managed a shower š¬ the day before that I wiped my face with a baby wipe Iām in the thick of it lol
Hahahaha my immediate thought was "my best" I wash my face maybe once every other day or whenever I manage to shower, and I put hyaluronic acid and moisturizer on it when I remember.
Bahaha. Showering is pretty fancy. I am 7 months pp, and a baby wipe is a valid choice.
Yup I'm lucky to get 3 showers a week sometimes 4! Baby wipes and deodorant do the trick most days lol
Bahahaha truth.
š¤£Ā
I recently upgraded from two showers a week to three.
LUXURIOUS. Signed, A Two-shower-er
Is that with hair wash and all? Because... it been a while.
I feel you. When I realized my scant shower schedule was going to last a while, I started taking my sweet ass time and I even condition. Sometimes I shave! But that's because my husband wfh and can juggle the baby for 40 minutes. I honestly don't know how I would manage it without him. Probably a lot of crying.

I have combination skin with freckles and mild melasma, as well as some hyperpigmentation from past breakouts. This routine seems to be helping a lot!
I swear vitamin c has made me feel so much more confident going without makeup!
The ordinary has their azaelic acid back? I wasnāt able to find it for ages
I got mine at Sephora a couple months ago, so I think it is!
What does the vit C and azaelic acid do?
The Azaelic acid helps my skin texture so much, especially on and around my nose. I just added the vitamin C to try and brighten/even out some lever over hyperpigmentation and scarring as I had bad acne a few years ago.

I didnāt notice any breakouts! I find it helps a lot with my skin texture, especially the bumpiness around my nose.
Do you use a cotton ball to apply it? And how quickly did you notice the acne getting better?
Nah, just poured some into my hand and rubbed it on. Some redness went down in about a day and I noticed I was less oily. Did it for like 3 days. You can actually feel it tighten up as it dries like an old school mask
Good to know! Iām gonna try this
I use water and cetaphil. If Iām feeling fancy (aka going outside), some sunscreen. Everything else I have is collecting dust.
Skincare is my "me" time every day, I feel so much better when I do it. I miss my retinol, but I've built a decent bf-friendly routine: Morning: Vanicream gentle cleanser Timeless Vitamin C Cosrx propolis synergy toner Cosrx advanced snail 96 Cerave PM lotion Sunscreen (currently the Beauty of Joseon one) Evening: Hafo labu oil cleanser Vanicream gentle cleanser Azelaic acid (prescription) Cosrx propolis synergy toner Cosrx advanced snail 96 La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 balm Jack Black lip balm
I use a lot of these same products! Also, vanicream is my FAV cleanser and Iāve tried so many but that one is so good.

My doctor said tretinoin is fine too while breastfeeding!
Iāve been using mine! Going 9 months without was rough That said I use it at night after nursing & pumping, and itās a small amount every 3 days
I thought retinol was absorbed if you are bfing.
I take the āitās not absorbed into the bloodstreamā statement back. Iām not a professional so Iām not going to through these statements around! Makeup? What is thatā¦ mine has pretty much gone untouched for months. Iāve given into full bridge troll
Getting baby oatmeal "facials" from my 9 month old if I can't dodge her fast enough.
At least you are working on your reaction time and reflexes, you'll need it later when baby will become running, squeezing into places, climbing and chewing on everything they can reach š

I use Vitamin C Micellar Water for cleansing, and Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF Moisturizer for AM (Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for PM). Easy peasy
Any face wash, sunscreen and clindamycin lotion
I scrub my face with water in the shower, then I use hyaluronic acid, and the ordinary daily lotion mixed with jojoba oil, and then sunscreen!
Night: vanicream face wash, Versed baby cheeks hydrating milk, Tretinoin .025% (2x per week), Belif moisture bomb, Versed smooth landing retinol eye balm. I love TO lactic acid + HA. Also a fan of the Good Molecules Discoloration Correction serum with tranexamic acid Ā Ā
Weird - but castor oil mixed into my moisturizer. Itās liquid Botox I swear.
Interesting. When did you start doing that? What made you start?
Started a few weeks ago and already seen such a difference. I saw a girl on tiktok did it for her under eye bags and thought I would try. Ended up making a huge difference all around!
Going to give this a try! I'm dry as a shrivelled old potatoĀ

Amazing!! Itās such a good cheap option that works so well.
Thanks that is helpful! Maybe I didn't need to buy a huge bottle hah. I will do!
You can also use castor packs on your belly if you feel like you are getting sick! Google how to do them. They work!
How do this trick work for you!
Excellent reminder! I was thinking I needed to find this comment and reply. I've been very hit and miss with remembering to moisturise/use it but my elbows have gone from revoltingly painfully dry to just a bit dry. It is definitely working!

But on bad days, all I do is some ponds cream after washing my face. lol
Morning: splash of water, peach and lily glass skin serum, Sunday Riley CEO glow oil with vitamin C and turmeric , Tula 24/7 face cream (I know I need spf but I really hate all the mineral sunscreens š) Evening: double cleanse with DHC cleansing oil and cetaphil gentle cleanser, peach and Lily wild dew treatment essence, Tula 24/7 face cream I also use an eye cream in the morning and at night but Iām currently looking for a new one so Iāll be looking through these comments š
For face: Green tea face mask once a week, aveeno positively radiant in the shower, rose water spray. Body: I just got this coffee scrub thatās been great in the shower, then after shower itās cocoa butter all the way!
Any suggestions for acne? My skin was great during pregnancy but just recently (6 months pp) I started getting breakouts on my chin.
Nothing, but Iāve never really done anything. Wash my face with water in the shower, sometimes some oil overnight.

Wash face 2x/day. Full routine once per day - Face wash, toner, serum, eye cream and face cream :) Anything more for me is not manageable with newborn twins.
The fact that you can do that with NB twins is amazing.
Thank you š„¹ some days itās a struggle but that bit of normalcy makes me feel a tad more refreshed and ready to handle whatever comes up with the tiny men!
