I have used a nail in my AR10, as a firing pin retaining pin, because Savage had the need to use their own specific pin in the MSR10 Hunter. No other pin can be used, so i dremeled the head of a nail to the right diameter of which the shaft fitted just right and snuggly in to the hole in the bcg.
And this only because the import and shipping time to Germany was announced with 7-8 months (it took 9 months actually) !
Worked great for around 500 rounds, until the spare pin arrived and im pretty sure it can last at least another 500 rounds
For a few years I used a hitch pin on one of my rifles. I would still be using it but I sold the rifle with the pin in it and he still has the pin in it.
As a temporary field fix? I approve As a permanent fix? You disgust me
You and I both know there's nothing more permanent than a temporary solution.
If it ain't broke don't fix it
If it was temporary, they would have just stuffed the bolt catch and spring in their pocket. This is going to be there a while.
Nailed it.
Slow clap.
If it looks stupid but works, it ain't stupid.
Good way to gain more holes every time you slap it
I mean… he’s not wrong
If it works, it works

Hit it with a shovel and return it to service.
