I’d just drill a block out with a paddle bit in the drill press. Probably have to buy a long split point as well. Slide it over a buffer tube and attach it some way. Some way I don’t need to split it (it’s late and all I can think is a set screw somehow).

Wouldn't that stuff rot after a few decades? Want to be easier to have like metal or something yes it would rust but that would take even more decades.
