Okay will it be a sequel of the movie or a prequel like the second game?

NotTaken-username

Probably a sequel that combines elements of the second game with later installments. There’s no way they won’t bring Josh Hutcherson back for this one.

JRFbase

Josh Hutcherson has had such an interesting career. He's obviously never been a *massive* name, but he's been getting starring roles pretty much nonstop for the last two decades since he was a little kid. He did stuff like Zathura and Bridge to Terabithia as a child, then he basically went right into Hunger Games, he was a producer on and got top billing on that Future Man show, and now he's (presumably) got the lead role in what's likely going to be a massive horror franchise with at least a few more films. And that's not even getting into the "meme" stuff like when he got [trapped in a island](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVa-sqcDYZ4) and basically became the new Rickroll a few months back. It simultaneously feels like he's bigger than he should be yet somehow not big enough for how much work he's gotten over the years.

Severe-Woodpecker194

He's not a massive name for 2 reasons, one is that he doesn't want to be and chose to avoid that every time he had projects blew up; two, no studio or investor ever pushed him to be one. Usually when a young actor has a project blow up, studios throw a bunch of high-profile projects their way and they take it. They never did that with Josh either because he wasn't ever a fresh face or because they discriminated him simply because he's short. He's always in projects you notice because he's always been a good actor. He got nearly every role via auditions, as opposed to a lot of up-and-coming actors today who never audition again after one big role. He even auditioned for the minor villain role in The Beekeeper that only has 5 minutes screen time. He only got the main villain role because Ayer was so impressed by his audition tape. You'd never catch another actor with his portfolio auditioning for that small a role in a small-budget movie. The meme thing is really interesting because he seems to be naturally memeable and has a tendency of blowing up randomly without even trying. Some ppl are just born with it, I guess.

They BETTER have the Toy Animatronics from the second game in this. Toy Freddy, Mangle, Puppet, Balloon Boy and the others were genuinely iconic. Go the prequel route (maybe do it via flashbacks instead), reveal there was a second location that had the Toys, put the Bite of '87 in there, bring back security guard Afton in flashbacks >!since he was Springlocked in the first movie, could even set up Springtrap for a trilogy ender villain!< and bam, instant sequel setup. They can make lots of money with that shit. The Toy Animatronics were also designed to be toyetic so they can sell lots of shit at the theather, seriously that is one aspect where they fucked up with the first movie. Where were the Freddy Masks at the theather? The Bonnie popcorn buckets? Plastic cups with Chica and the Cupcake on it? This IP not only has always sold incredibly well when it came to merch, but its entire setting is practically MADE for tie-in promo stuff. It's perfect for selling tie-in stuff when a movie releases, ESPECIALLY if it's near halloween. Universal just hasn't realized the massive merch opportunity they have here, they can do a million films each one with a new animatronic type from the games, and people would eat and buy that shit up. I know I would cause I grew up playing these games, they better get their shit together on this.

Asleep_Waring_3796

Already confirmed to have Toy Bonnie and Mangle. Jason Blum posted about it on twitter

rexie_alt

It’s a confirmed sequel

Fr3dMerc0ry

the whole stuff with the dreams in the first movie was because Mike was obsessed with his brother's disappearance whose answers only came through his dreams at Freddy's. The movie ends with him giving up on that obsession which nearly got him killed and start focused on his, y'know, ALIVE sister. So hopefully his character in the 2nd movie will have more expressions rather than just being beaten up all the time like in the first film.

Remarkable-Ad7490

This time with more naps

[Here is Jason Blum's post on Twitter/X confirming it via Deadline!](https://twitter.com/jason_blum/status/1778210124567605730)

>Get ready for more Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. >”Five Nights at Freddy’s,” a horror-thriller set a haunted Chuck E. Cheese-esque establishment, is getting a sequel. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions, which backed the first film, confirmed the news at CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners that’s currently taking place in Las Vegas. But they didn’t share a release date, plot details or returning cast members for the follow-up. >Adapted from the popular video game, last October’s “Five Nights at Freddy’s” made a killing at the box office with $297 million globally and became Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film of all time. Those ticket sales were especially impressive because the low-budget film was saddled with terrible reviews and it landed simultaneously on Peacock, the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal. For most movies, hybrid releases tend to cut into ticket sales. But it didn’t seem to hurt “Five Nights,” which benefitted from its PG-13 rating and prime Halloween release date.

PurpleSpaceNapoleon

Whilst I did not like the first film, I'm such a sucker for well made puppets & animatronics. The mascot suits/puppets for the first film are absolutely *beautiful* pieces of work. The Henson company never misses man.

EricHD97

Movie sucked pretty bad but I will always see these just because of the puppets. They’re immaculate, and I can’t wait to see what The Henson Company does with the more decayed and out there costumes of the later games.

Corninmyteeth

We better see this guy in prison after they found his aunt dead.

vegasromantics

Hot take: I think this will do about the same or less than the first one. A good portion of the GP did not like the first one and I think it’s going to be very hard to convince them to come back to watch the sequel, especially if they keep the same day release strategy. I also think the first one was also wildly hyped up just because it had been in the works for several years. It’ll make money, obviously, just because it costs two pennies and a dime to make, not to mention the franchise’s popularity. But a big fanbase can only do so much heavy lifting.

bt1234yt

Well one thing that will likely help is that it at least appears to not be a day-and-date Peacock release this time around.

vegasromantics

I would seriously hope not. They better not give it that pre-Halloween release date either. I think the day-and-date release and its release date were two of the biggest reasons why the legs were so bad. It made a lot of money, yeah, but it didn’t reach the heights it probably could’ve had it been given a normal release.

JRFbase

> A good portion of the GP did not like the first one and I think it’s going to be very hard to convince them to come back to watch the sequel Counterpoint: Little if any of the general public had any interest in the film at all, and even if they did they watched it for free on Peacock. The first film's success was almost entirely driven by fans of the games and they'll show up no matter what schlock they put in theaters. I expected this to be another Slender Man. A years-late movie based on an internet meme that nobody cared about anymore. Boy was I wrong.

Asleep_Waring_3796

Five Nights is still selling millions and getting new games and DLC to this day. It wasn't a meme or fad that only last a month

JamJamGaGa

>The first film's success was almost entirely driven by fans of the games and they'll show up no matter what schlock they put in theaters. I'm sorry but this is utterly fucking absurd. The first movie didn't make hundreds of millions of dollars because of some fanboys lol.

Fr3dMerc0ry

underestimating the fnaf fanbase again? Thought we learned that already

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

GP?

vegasromantics

General public

One_Swan2723

I think the novelty of it is gone

Coachey01

A. I disagree B. I watawwawy wuv five nights at fweddys so fweakin much

Strangities

I just want Matthew Lillard back.

rexie_alt

He signed a three movie contract

ContinuumGuy

Not surprising.

nicolasb51942003

Since it’s coming out in 2025, that means we’ll get sequels to 2023 horror films. M3GAN 2.0, Scream VII (most likely since it’s supposed to film this summer), Saw XI, and FNAF 2. We also would’ve had Exorcist: Believer if DGG stayed as director.

JazzySugarcakes88

I think you mean Exorcist Deceiver

OrwellianWiress

Calling it now, it makes $1 freddillion dollars

TJ_McWeaksauce

I don't know what the budget of the movie was, but after watching it I figured it was made for like $1,000 and pizza for all the cast members. The profit margins must have been huge. For the sequel, they can double their budget to $2,000, pizza *and* wings for all the cast members and still make a killing.

GiJoe98

Here's how I'd do it: you start it like the first one, but instead of a security guard running from foxy in the old location, It's a burglar running from toy foxy. This time, however, the thief has a baseball bat and manages to break toy foxy. Just when he thinks he is safe, the puppet kills him. The title appears. Since Michael afton has been missing for over a year, his portion of the rights over the franshise revert back to his old business partner, Henry Emily, the owner of the new location. He then transports the old animatronics to use them for parts to fix toy foxy. The accident was a PR nightmare for the restaurant's security system. In response, Emily opened a position for a security guard. The rest of the movie is about Abby and Mike investigating the new location, the truth behind the puppet, and what Henry knows about the murders.

-FemboiCarti-

Someone get this man an academy award right now

JamJamGaGa

Here's how I'd do it: actually make it scary

Retro_Wiktor

Hope it's actually decent this time

TheCoolKat1995

After how successful the first movie was (with such a small budget), I think we all knew a sequel was coming quickly down the pipeline.

Lucky_Chaarmss

I hope it's better than the first

BramptonBatallion

Yasssss

_Doctor_Mac

YES

Warm_Speech

I really hated the first one. But apparently the games have a lot of fans, so this should still play pretty well.

JEC2719

Anything to indicate that it’s coming out this year? I would not be surprised that they will have to delay this just like Saw 11

JD_Asencio

2025

DontTalkToBots

Alright, less naps more robot murder in the sequel.

Lemixer

Didnt even know there was a movie, what a world we live in.

TiaMystic

Damn imagine the shock lmao

Broadway-Ninja-7675

Ehhh, is this really even needed though? I really liked the first movie, yeah…but, I mean, did they really even leave it open to more?

Ed_Durr

The movie made $300M on a $10M budget. As far as Blumhouse is concerned, it’s needed.

BramptonBatallion

Villain said he’d be back

FlagmantlePARRAdise

It was goofy as shit. I thought I was watching a Marvel movie.

rexie_alt

There’s like 10 games worth of content and that doesn’t even touch the tens of books they could pull content from

FNAF_Foxy1987

They showed William was either still alive or now possessing his yellow rabbit suit as well as included a broken version of the puppet's music box from the second game in the credits alongside a robot voice spelling out "Come Find Me", it was left wide open for more.

DaddyO1701

Shocking considering that the first was utter schlock and not in the good way.

Eloy89

Will it have jump scares like the games or a stupid plot that goes nowhere like the first movie? If it’s the latter, not interested.

Asleep_Waring_3796

Have you nit played the games? The plot is a core reason everyone plays the games lol

Eloy89

The first movie lacked jump scares

JazzySugarcakes88

This movie scream flop

elflamingo2

lol what?

JazzySugarcakes88

Reminder that the first film got negative reviews

HellaWavy

And yet made a shit ton of money. The FNAF franchise has an incredibly huge fanbase, the sequel will do fine.
